I never thought I'd be leaving a good review of this place. It use to be such a shit hole like 10-15 years ago (apprenticed in the kitchen for school and it was horribly disgusting). I was actually a little scared to try it but we received a gift certificate for dinner over the holidays and just went tonight...it was amazing. A whole new staff thankfully and everything was not only clean but cooked perfectly. I have never had a properly cooked scallop in the Midwest until tonight. Pricing is in the upper range for Bloomington. 4 scallops were $22ish (pretty big ones and the entrees come with two sides and a salad or soup and rolls of varying types), the king size portion of prime rib was around $30ish and we got the fried tomatoes at a normal appetizer range of pricing (somewhere under $10). We don't dress up to go places, and I'm sure the tattoos don't help with their preconceived notions, so sometimes we get biased service in places but the server there was nice and was on top of everything, kept our drinks filled, very attentive. We were the only ones in there (which is unfortunate for them but awesome for us since people suck). We definitely want to go back and try the other dishes, maybe next tax season.

We have stopped by and enjoyed treats here and there, but after ordering 72 cupcakes for a birthday party I am confident in saying THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Amazing flavor choices available and I went with the birthday boys favorite flavors, which included Guinness (amazing and my new favorite), Dreamscicle, chocolate, chocolate cherry, and red velvet. The cupcakes are absolutely beautiful and delicious. They are perfectly moist and the frosting is on point. Easy to order. Amazingly friendly and helpful staff They deliver for $6 and totally worth it.
This place is the best. They were extremely helpful, friendly and willing to work with us. We called from Massachusetts to order our son that stayed in IU for summer camp a birthday cake. It was last minute order, even they were very busy that day, they still tried their best to get our order in. Later we had to change the cake pick up time multiple times, they were so kind and did their best to help us. The cake was beautiful and tasted delicious (according my son). Many thanks for the wonderful service!!!
I think Underground Cupcakes & Cafe must still be a well kept secret for both vegetarians and/or cupcake lovers because it seriously excels in both of those categories but is often times still half empty when I come here. There is a separate vegetarian section of the menu with four different sandwich options. I have tried three of them so far--Popper, Torta Vegetarian, and Veg on Wire--and all of them are unique and delicious. I have also had a couple of their vegetarian soups and they have all been super tasty as well. And the cupcakes! This place has some of the best cupcakes in the area! They always offer several different varieties and show a lot of creativity in all of the cupcakes they offer. If you like them on Facebook, they advertise what cupcake flavors and different soups they are offering that day, which will for sure make you want to give them a visit. Definitely one of my favorite places in town for vegetarian lunch and cupcakes.

One word comes to mind for the new kid in town-Impressive! The lines may be long, but the wait is well worth it, especially for a tasty bit from the small kitchen. Now every girl wants a Southern Gentleman, and after a single bite of a sandwich by the same name I would venture to say that every fellow should want to order one up too! The cheddar, pimiento blend pack quite the punch and the bacon has a sweet taste that perfectly offsets the spicy entree. My fellow diner took a bite and says he will be sure to order it upon return. It may be an hour and a half haul for me, but l will definitely be making a return visit!
A beautiful place that is spacious, yet welcoming. Great location. Decor is straight out of something you'd see in a modern magazine like Dwell. Great beer as well. Only negatives were no TVs (which is likely the owner's preference, which I can respect) and at this time, no growlers (small two barrel system that is working hard to keep up with in house demand). Very friendly, helpful, staff. Walk into the dining areas with a mix of modern wooden booths, lower eating tables, and high tables along the rails/walls. Beautiful light wood floor that is complimented by wooden table tops and black chairs/stools. Bar top is also a light wood with a small darker rail. Steel pipe foot rest. Bar back is very simple, just taps, mirrors, & one shelf for glasses. Bar is separated by the eating area by the same steel pipe railing. Food is above average, I would definitely recommend a hot/cold sandwich.
I got there right when they opened on a Saturday at 11 a.m. to meet my friend. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the nice woodwork on the tables and the general nice atmosphere of the place. However, when it was time to be seated, instead of asking us where we would like to sit, the waitress (who also served as the hostess) sat us at a table for two in the middle of the room. I thought this was rather bizarre since there was clearly better seating still available that offered more privacy and was right by the large front window. I asked for us to be moved to a table by the window instead and she moved us without any hassle. Both my friend and I each ordered the beer sampler which came with four samples for $5. I choose to taste the following (listed in order of preference): Hefeweizen, Single Hopped Pale (Magnum), Tangent (American IPA), and Rye IPA. I liked all of them with the Hefeweizen being my favorite. We also ordered the cheese plate to share, which was rather pricey but pretty large. I think this place is definitely worth checking out if you drink beer. I could see it also being a cute date place too if you are looking for some place to take a date.

Absolutely the best brisket I've ever had! It's always nice when the owner comes around and welcomes you to the restaurant. The wife and I ordered a pound of brisket and I had to fight her for my half! I will definitely be back!
Meat: Brisket: Nice meat flavor. There was no pink smoke ring on any of the meat which is odd for good brisket. My top piece was tender. As I worked through 1/2 pound I got to some fairly tough meat. Bark was nice. I know many cooks leave the fat on for flavor but this serving had too much fat for me. Would I order again? - probably, but I've had better in Memphis and Nashville. Pulled pork. Not as much wood flavor as I prefer. I have a friend ( not a restaurant) who smokes meat and his product has much more flavor. Same with BBQ places in the south that I go back to. Meat was tenser and just a tiny bit dry. Sauces are good. Yet good Q should be great without sauce. Ambiance: this place really needs a make over. I understand when you start out there may not be much cash flow but this place really needs work. I read the reviews here and I was surprised by my visit. I hope this guy makes it. I really do. Yet I can't brag about what I ate and certainly not about atmosphere. I thought about a lower rating but I will likely try it again. I hope this is helpful - I know it is my true opinion.
Some of the best ribs I've had in a long time (all other barbecue reviews I've done are now obsolete). They have a dry rub on them, fell off bone and you can add as much sauce as you want at your table. A last minute addition to our order of pickle fries was not regretted either, those damn things were good. Only thing I'm sad about is we didn't order the bigger meal.

I'm so sad that I never reviewed the Euro Deli after all of my years of frequenting it. Before moving to Chicago, I used to live right down the street from this place and it was my go-to lunch spot. I always ordered the same thing - a chicken salad sandwich. The owner and manager, a sweet Eastern European woman, was always so kind to me. If she was out of chicken salad (which many times she was, because it's the most delicious thing EVER) she would make a fresh batch just for me. It was a love affair with no end in sight....but now I have been told that they are closing at the end of the month and I am heartbroken. I feel as though I have failed you, Euro Deli. Realizing that I may never get to eat one of those sandwiches again (unless I make the trek to Indiana before the end of May) is truly one of the saddest things ever. I wish you all the best, Euro Deli family, and if someone could please send me that recipe, I would be forever grateful. CALL ME!!!! Just kidding, you can message me on here. Pretty please?
Omg I love this place. Great selection. Super friendly service and love the little cafe upfront to eat a fresh deli sandwich. Love the tons of East European products for sale too!
This place is lovely and definitely worth checking out if you are interested in European groceries. I also highly recommend going here to either pick up a sandwich or sit with a friend at one of the two tables inside of the small store. Get the mushroom salad sandwich if you are vegetarian!

Maybe I don't know what a hipster is, BUT this bar is not hipster. When I go it is flooded with regulars and friendly faces. Most the time they have a crowd ranging from students to older townies. Ive been going to this bar for YEARS and I've meet a ton of interesting/AMAZING people. It is a fun place to start the night but just as suitable for a night cap. Best patio in town. Nothing like drinking outside on a warm Indiana night, this is a place where memories are made. LOVE IT!
I really enjoy this place. It is cash only!!! Be forewarned. But, its SO cheap to drink I can totally see why. Scrape a couple quarters and you got yourself a buzz. Small venue means its hard to fit in winter. I love the patio in summer. Front porch is awesome when the sun is shining.
Lots of room, rocking chairs, cheap PBR Good enough for me

When my my wife and I vistied Bloomington from out of town, we stumbled upon this unique restaurant. Great selections, including 4 vegetarian soups. We enjoyed our soup very much. Would definitely go back. Also, we accidently left a bag of shirts we purchased for our kids and did not realize it untl the next day when we got home. We called the restaurant, spoke to Nels who had the shirts. I emailed him a postage label and he promptly went out of his way to mail them back to us. So not only good food, but a caring, conscientious staff. I would highly recommend Darn Good Soup!
I love soup. It's true. But still, what a strange concept to have not one, but two different restaurants in town devoted to it--soup is, to me, a comfort food meant to devour at home or daintily sip upon in small quantities before a restaurant meal. Boy, did Darn Good Soup change my mind about that. With a name like Darn Good Soup, it's asking to not be taken seriously. It's a very casual place with all the choices in delicious, hearty soup you could ever want. The soup offerings change daily, and you get a choice of bread, crackers, and/or salad to accompany your big steamy bowl of deliciousness. The staff is incredibly friendly and aware of the treasure trove of flavors under their control. They'll happily pass you samples until you've found The One. I visited Darn Good Soup on a cold, rainy day. I've gotta admit that the weather greatly influenced my opinion of the place as it was exactly what I needed. And no one will judge you here when you're slurping and sniffly over your own personal vat of hot butternut squash soup.
I was slow in trying these guys out...I mean, it's soup, right? So what? WELL! I was mistaken! Since diving in, this has become a weekly go to for me and my family. I have had nothing here that wasn't reeaaaalllllyyyy good, but there are a few notables: The Chili is to die for, and the Carrot Ginger is out of this world! There are vegetarian and Vegan options as well, and they have also been excellent! Darn Good Soup INDEED! Small tweaks to make it even better? Samples! Gluten-Free listed on the menu (though the counter staff is VERY quick to confirm and answer all questions). While waiting at the counter, pay attention to the music playing overhead, these guys are Tom Waits fans.

Square Donuts

I was a little bit disappointed with Square Donuts. While they are good, they are so seriously caked with sugar that even my seriously sugar loving taste buds didn't want more than one. I have tried the plain and the apple donuts and the apple was better - the apple distracts you from the crunch of the sugar. I'm not saying I would never eat one again, but it wouldn't be my donut of choice.
This is my personal favorite in the world of doughnutdum. As a glazed man, the delicious glaze of square doughnuts its truly on a pedestal all its own. Also, the price is very fair and from 1-2 PM they have happy hour doughnuts for a .25. It simply cant be beat.
Truly the only donuts I love more than Krispy Kremes. These are so soft, fluffy, sugary and mouthwateringly delicious!! And always fresh. Go between 1am and 3am for a late night donut stop while they're baking them fresh! My fave is the vanilla cream filled one. To die for!

Easily some of the best Pizza in the US. We travel extensively and have had great pizza in lots of places. Great crust and sauce! We get it almost every week when we are in town. We are currently gluten free and thought we would miss out on this pizza. We bring our own GF crust in and Jim is gratuitous enough to make the pizza for us. Not as good as the regular crust, but add the sauce and toppings and it is pretty good pizza.
First time we had been there and it was good pizza! Good service, loved the cheese sticks with dipping sauce. Will definitely be back!
Pleasantly surprised! I only tried this because of the reviews on Yelp. I have driven by this place every day for 4 years, and it does look like a hole in the wall, which is why I hadn't ever noticed it. I was especially attracted to their delivery to Eagle Pointe. So we ordered. Their delivery guy was speedy and efficient, a nice young man that was very familiar with the area. We ordered two different pizzas, and they were very good. They definitely rival some of the other great local pizza places in Btown. The crust was crispy, and the sauce was delicious. The ingredients were very fresh. We will definitely be ordering from here again! So glad to have some food delivery to EP!

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the employees here know me and my husband as "regulars" and ask us if we even need a menu. The bbq chicken masterpiece is a personal favorite and also the Hog Wild (not listed, but sometimes a special or on the buffet). It's most definitely the best pizza buffet in town. Not too expensive and you can even get a beer after work with your breadsticks. Super good!
We ordered four pizzas for family event, and they disappeared without a complaint. The Cream and Crimson was popular, but I don't do gorgonzola. I was very pleased with the deluxe and our custom made pizzas. The crust was not too doughy. They use quality toppings. They pizzas were definitely a hit.
I've always had good experiences with the staff. They have many vegan options (not labeled unfortunately. As of the time of this post the dough, marinara, cilantro pesto, BBQ, and buffalo sauces are vegan, and all the veggies you'd expect). I've had experience with student organization donations from them and they're very kind. I like to get pizza with cilantro pesto sauce, no cheese, artichoke hearts, and red onion.
