I'm sorry, Kroger- I wanted to like you. You're so conveniently located (the nearest grocery store to my house by a long shot). I've been a Kroger regular before in other towns. I've got your Preferred Customer card. Some of your employees are nice and helpful- this is what boosted this rating to two stars, rather than the one star I'm so tempted to give.. But, I just can't get over the multiple bad experiences that I have had with rude employees. It is unacceptable to have the checker roll their eyes at me for asking a question. It is unacceptable to have the checker sigh loudly at me for needing to look in my purse for my Kroger card. It is unacceptable for me to receive a prescription from your pharmacy with the wrong name on it and then be treated with an attitude like it was my fault that it says Sheryl instead of Sarah (and left to wait for 20 minutes at the outside window until finally a kinder employee asks if I've been helped and discovers that the original grumpy person had just decided to ignore dealing with changing the name and do nothing). Please, Kroger, if there are employees there with issues, either retrain them, put them behind the scenes at your store rather than up with customers, or if they don't change, replace them.

FLORAL DEPT: custom floral arrangements Does custom floral arrangements with the discount flowers - brought in a picture & my own silverplate container After looking at some of the reviews of florists in town, I called & spoke to a really helpful young man in the floral dept at Kroger who said he would be happy to help design the arrangement I wanted. I came in the next morning when he was working & we picked some long-lasting flowers. I brought in a photo from the eddieross blog, we picked some flowers from the large selection of flowers that had been marked down, talked about the colors a bit & picked it up after 1pm. He put floral foam in my silverplate bowl, even polished it a bit. It looked great & was only $40ish - at a floral shop it would have been $60 - 70 or more. And it had a lot of carnations so it lasted forever. Very happy with the custom service.

What can you possibly write about a grocery store? Come on, give me a break! Well, this one needs some notice. Everyone knows this store had an unhappy nickname for years. But since their recent face lift the inside and attitude have changed and I have renamed it KRO-Meistah. This store has reached a superior level. Their fresh fruit and veg department is just what you want when you need provisions. Their cheese counter is as good as any in the city. If you are so lucky as to be there when they cut the next wheel of 1000 day aged Gouda be sure to get two blocks or you you will seriously regret it after you eat the first one. When they first converted they had a Stilton which was as creamy and perfect as any I have ever had. We could not get enough of it and it disappeared too soon. Meat and seafood are fresh and there is a terrific variety. The wine selections seems to be wide and improved. I don't study those shelves but I think I saw some interesting new beers in stock. Dairy includes Fage yoghurt which used to be only found in Sahara Mart locally. This has driven down the price to a reasonable level so we can have more of what my wife calls "the world's best yoghurt." There are limits caused by their target market. There is a limited range of canned vegetables but the fresh make up for it. What we want to see more of is pickles: beets, beans, baby corn, red onions. Otherwise this store fills my needs very well. My point is, if you wrote off this store years ago for what you found, it really is worth a new look. For me, and many others, this is a most convenient location for quick daily shopping and I am now using it as first choice, not resenting it, but enjoying it. The staff are pleasant and do not seem jaded and tired. They also got a facelift, I guess. It's nice to work in a nice place. And to shop in one.
