Still a one star. Expect them to be out of advertised specials, and consistently. Watch each product to make sure that the price you think you're paying matches the SKU barcode; they have no clue how to shelve/stock their merchandise. I have a wallet full of rainchecks--- some of them unfulfilled for weeks-- on staples that were advertised specials. Some of the standard items go unstocked for unknown reasons. Expect things like eggs to vanish mysteriously. Produce seems an afterthought, with mislabeled stocking as well. This location has a cheese counter that as a matter of practice, turns the labels on the packages downward so you have NO CLUE as to the type of cheese, and the cost per pound/item until you flip it over like some strange game of Scrabble. Such a consistent lack of attention to keeping advertised specials seems much like "bait-and-switch". Intentional? I don't know. It seems to have a monopoly, as the only store for miles is Lucky's Market, an overpriced place that doesn't compete much with this location. Overall: meh on a good day.

This has generally been my preferred location. It's close to home, it has the small carts, and it has most of what I want. This isn't quite the store it used to be. On one hand, now that Lucky's is in town, Kroger has added a small bulk section and some high end candy because they want to capture every bit of business they can. I consider them the wal mart of the grocery world. I guess it's good that they respond to a perceived need, it just irks me that they try to be all things to all people, yet remain a bland chain. On my last visit, the employees must not have been awake. They were kind of wandering around. The bread was nearly empty, and like always, the Entenmenn's selection was lacking. I've never figured out why they don't give those more space. Be wary of anything in the meat. The last time I was going to buy frozen burger patties, I saw they were sourced from about 4-5 different countries. I have no idea where their other beef comes from. You're better off going to Lucky's up the road for really fresh. Kroger is good for cheap crap. That's about it. Just time your visit right so you can avoid the Kro-zombies and find full shelves.

This is a nice Kroger. I had to stop here and run a few errands while in Bloomington. The guy in wine and spirits (cody i think) is very nice and very helpful. He cares a lot about his department! They keep it well stocked for sure. The seafood department is plentiful and the fruits and veggies were fresh too. You will find lots of types of people here ranging from all ends of the spectrum but that's kind of what you expect in a true college town. Not the closest grocery store to campus so you get more locals than the college crowd.

This is the best Kroger of the four in town. Logical layout, good selection. Local produce even. In the past they never seemed to have enough lines open, but they seem to be trying to rectify that.

Bless this place. I don't usually review corporate chains, and don't like to shop at Kroger in general, but when I am in a pinch this place more than gets the job done. Here are the reasons: 1) PARKING!!!! At the typical Kroger, and especially at the east side Kroger - the handicapped parking goes on and on and on forever, to the point where you almost need a shuttle service to get from the "able-bodied" spaces to store front. Not here. There are always ample places to park, for all needs. Sometimes it is something as petty as parking which determines what store you go to on a given day. I can tell you that I sure as heck am not going to circle for spots at a grocery store at rush hour. Thank you, South Side Kroger. 2) Produce/Deli. Every time I go in there, it seems that they have expanded the organic section, and the produce prices beat Bloomingfoods and Sahara. Haven't yet seen locally grown items there, but I hope they are on the way. In the deli, the number of higher-quality cheeses is surprising. I can find three or four different Spanish cheeses there, including a pretty good Mahón, which I am accustomed to finding only in specialty shops. The olive/cold foods bar is also impressive. The fact that you can get wasabi hummus and vegetable couscous in southern Indiana at a chain grocery store on the poorer side of town is a sign that civilization is spreading in the US, little by little. 3) Health food section. God, I hate the name 'health food'; good food shouldn't need this distinction but alas this is still Kroger. You can get a surprising array of organic food (and non-food) brands at this location if you are in a pinch; it tends to be a bit more expensive then at B-foods or Sahara, but its there for ya if ya need it. If you live in the neighborhood and are food conscious, appreciate this Kroger. So easy to get in and out of, and possesses a pleasantly high number of good products. You can also get your whisky there. It could be a lot worse.

Yay for Fancy Kroger! Great produce section and olive/salad bar, which is a tad on the pricey side but a nice option. Great deli and butcher selections. Clean. Very friendly service. Other than that, it's a standard Kroger, but I'll always go a little out of the way to shop here rather than at the slightly closer but somewhat shady West Side Kroger.

Great location, really good nutrition/natural foods section, super quality in produce. Disappointing organic fruit choices.
