Mexican restaurant in a strip mall - I had low expectations. But this place blew me away with just about every aspect of the experience. The restaurant itself is very colorful: kitschy or gaudy world be apt descriptions. We were greeted very warmly and seated right away. We got a huge basket of chips and fresh salsa, and the waiter was very polite about giving us time to make our selections. I got the shrimp fiesta tacos (grilled shrimp, a little bit of rice, topped with cilantro and white onion inside of tortillas layered with cheese). The cheese in between the tortillas really made this dish special and added a unique toothy texture that I loved so much, that I am left wanting more! If I ever visit Bloomington again, I'll be back for sure!!!

subsequent visits to this place haven't been great. Hoping to find a decent place for Mexican food around here soon. Too much cheese and no flavor here. Salsa tastes exactly like nothing.

4 stars is relative, but as far as local/traditional Mexican places go, it deserves it. I took my kids (6 & 3) for lunch, and they're the ultimate salsa judges and they loved it. Newly remodeled, nice staff and service. Great food. Now my fave Mexican place in the Bloomington area. If you're visiting, it's a bit of a drive so stay in Bloomington.....but if you're willing to head toward Ellettsville it's worth the extra 10 minute drive. Had a fantastic burrito, and the aforementioned chips and salsa were delish. Looking forward to trying the all-you-can-eat Tuesday special for $7. - they better watch out!!!!!

My girlfriend and I ate here yesterday and the overall experience was about exactly 3 stars. The food was slightly above average. My rice, refried beans, and the chips & salsa were pretty good but my cheese enchiladas and chicken quesadillas were sub par. I would go back but would prefer one of the other Mexican establishments in Bloomington if given the option.

If your going to go to Ellettsville for a Mexican experience, bypass this and go to Nuestro, just a bit further down the road, unless it's taco Tuesday! The food is so-so, the staff are cheery, which can be nice. The food is heavy on the salt and light on the spice, the salsa almost taste like it just came from a jar. There are many other Mexican restaurants of far better quality, however; my wife and her friends do love all you can eat taco Tuesday's...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
