Finally got around to trying Siam Kitchen and so glad we did! Ordered take out on whim one night, and ran across to Dominicks while I waited for the food (which they said would take 10 minutes). Came back 10 minutes later and food was indeed ready. Ordered the green curry chicken, siam rolls, beef fried rice, and beef and broccoli (medium spicy). The beef and broccoli was wonderful! Tender beef with no fat, and broccoli was cooked perfectly for us, slightly al dente and very fresh tasting. Fried rice (which isn't normally something I get excited about) was also great! Light and tasty, not heavy at all, with a good mixture of veggies. The curry seemed oily, so I was nervous at first, but the taste was wonderful with the right amount of zip (I don't order food very spicy). The curry broth was lighter than I anticipated, and the chicken and veggies both tasted fresh. The white rice for the curry was mushy, but I don't normally eat much of the rice so it didn't really bother me. The Siam rolls were a bit disappointing, since its mostly just noodles encased in a roll and fried. The sweet and sour sauce for the rolls was really good though. The place delivers, and is open later than I would anticipate for Downers Grove, which was a huge bonus for us. I can't wait to order again and predict we will become regulars.

I have been ordering from Siam Kitchen since the very beginning of this gem of a restaurant; about 15 years. Truly, it is fabulous. When I call in my order, (they usually deliver to me) they know what my regular order is, and if I deviate, they ask me if I forgot to order something, just in case. To me, that means their clientele is important, they care and want us to enjoy their food. I love looking in their tiny kitchen to see the slow rice cooker that is about the same size as the one in my own kitchen; this means they make their food in small batches so it is always fresh. Don't let the location fool you, this small family business could succeed anywhere but they found the location that works for them and they are staying put. Spicy fire pork is fantastic, intricate flavors, gingery and unlike anything you've had before. Don't not pass up their siam rolls, they are my meal!

Excellent! I always come back for the pad thai, which is tasty if you're into a noodle dish without a ton of vegetables, and the pad see ew, not too sweet like at some places. I am also a fan of any of the curries. I love tom yum with chicken or shrimp. Fast delivery-I dig that they ask specific directions to your location so no time is wasted looking for the right building, apartment, cul-de-sac. Big flavorful plates, lunch specials, what more could one ask for? I miss you siam kitchen. love, girl in chicago heck-hole

I enjoyed the food very much. Service was extremely friendly and quick. I had the Cashew Chicken and with a little help from the spice tray it was perfect (I like my food spicy). I recommend this place to anyone wanting great Thai.

This is now one of our go-to places for good Thai in the burbs. It's a little far from our house, but if I am near the area we order out from here. People, you can definitely feel the heat here! Someone in an older review had mentioned that this is one of the hottest Thai places, and I have to agree with them. I have ordered entrees at a level 3 heat factor, and it is way hotter than comparable restaurants! Love their Garden pancake for an appetizer, and you cannot go wrong with any of their entrees. But make sure you've got some beer and lemonade around to help your poor mouth when it's burning!

ok, if you live in the downers grove/westmont area this is THE place to get thai food. the garden pancakes are out of this world! the staff is very accomodating to your preferred spice level. they use fresh veggies. our food took no time at all, and the staff was super friendly. agreed, maybe not the best place to go on a first date if you're looking for a schmancy ambiance, but if you just want some delicious thai food you will not be disappointed. definitely check this place out!

This is a wonderful restaurant with excellent service and very good food. The interior is really clean and spacious for the small foot print with about a dozen tables or so. I think this is a mom&pop operation with the server [older lady] being the owner, but i'm not exactly sure. Either way the service is prompt and polite. The food was served in a timely manner and it was delicious. Each of the dishes was generously sized ... there was plenty for left-overs. I tried the green curry chicken and vegetable fried rice. What impressed me the most was when we asked to have the green curry boxed for left-overs... they gave us extra rice without us even asking for it. That was a really nice move on their part since green curry dish is best eaten with rice [and i had used up all the rice i was given during dinner]. Also worth mentioning: this restaurant is open fairly late compared to other thai restaurants in the area.... which is a plus when you have some late night hunger pangs.

We've been going to Siam Kitchen for a couple years and always enjoy the food. It always is fresh and the service is friendly and right there. We are always ready to go back. Good Food and fair prices, friendly service keeps us coming back

This place is hands down the best thai restaurant around. Great food and service everytime especially for the price. They are definitely not afraid to make it spicy compared to almost everywhere else. Everyone that I have came here with loves this place and I go there as much as I can. It's great for anyone, family or friends and is always super tasty.

Pretty good Pad Thai. Food is always good but service can improve. They are a little pricey and always forget to put a fork in my bag.

Solid Thai joint on short notice. Our go-to was closed, prompting us to try a new place. Outward appearance is somewhat lackluster, as was the dining room. Luckily, the fare made up for said deficiencies. I had to try their highly-touted Garden Pancakes. Solid, not mind-blowing; nice flavor and seasoning. A little oily, and very similar to a potato pancake. Not quite a must, but definitely worth a try. Tried the vegetable curry (pic) entrée too. Plenty for the buck, fresh vegetables, well-seasoned, and made-to-order extra hot. Accompanying white rice was on point, and made for one heck of a satisfying, flavorsome Thai dish. Cook time was longer than most, but worth the wait; better waiting for fresh than getting reheated lunch leftovers. Service needed work, but friendliness was far from devoid. An enjoyable, last minute family dinner was partaken by all.

I feel bad giving this place only three stars because it was not bad, it just did not meet my Thai expectations. I love Thai food. Well, let me rephrase myself, the few opportunities I have eaten Thai, I have learned to love it. I ordered the Siam Fried Rice & although it was OK it was not spectacular. I did try the Chicken with peanut sauce ( my first time and I LOVED it) and a couple bites of curry. Those were pretty good. As a matter of fact, I was pouring the curry sauce on my fried rice & that made it taste better. I would like to go again to give it another shot. Maybe a curry dish will entice my taste buds next time. I'll keep ya posted.

In response to Matt S. I have tried countless Thai restaurants in the city and around the country. Siam Kitchen left a lasting impression on me with both their Pad Thai and Tom Yom Kung. You couldn't be more wrong in that you can find more authentic restaurants... i certainly haven't... perhaps this place just hits the spot for me. This place is all about the food, not about the ambiance-- go somewhere else and pay a premium for that and usually sacrifice value and flavor buddy. Since returning from a trip to Thailand, I have searched constantly for a place that can hit the mark when it comes to the spiciness and flavor of Tom Yum Kung, and texture (of noodle) of pad thai. Keep on doing what you're doing Siam Kitchen, and don't change a thing.... except maybe offer a spicy level #5 for those of us who actually appreciate what you guys are doing! What a gem.

This is our favorite Thai restaurant in the western suburbs. The service is great and the food is excellent. My wife and I almost always order the same items which we love. They are Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, Green Curry Chicken, and Chicken with Basil. We always leave the restaurant well satisfied. We usually go there for lunch on Saturday, and the restaurant is not very crowded at that time.

First Visit: I came here with a group of friends. I have to say it is one of the better thai restaurants I've tried in the area. We ordered Basil fried rice, Siam fried rice, Tom yum goong, pad see ewe, papaya salad, green curry, phad thai with the spice level 3 out of 4. Their food is slightly on the sweeter side but flavorful. I was disappointed with the basil fried rice, but was overall pleased with their siam fried rice. I plan on ordering this if I swing by next time. Papaya salad came out a lot spicier than expected. I love spice, but it was a tad bit too spicy for some of my friends. Second Visit: This time I ordered the Phad khee mao, Papaya salad, and Siam fried rice. The phad khee mao was cooked with noodles meant for phad thai. The Siam fried rice wasn't as tasty as last time. =/

Decided it would be a nice way to end the week by heading out to our local Thai joint for a relaxing dinner. First, the dining area is only half lit. Having run a family ran restaurant, I get it. Seated ourselves (party of 3) and finally the staff greeted us and handed us the menu. Ordered: Tom Yum soup $4.50 for one small bowl of soup and three pieces of shrimp. I've had better, but...okay, considering 3 pieces of shrimp, I'll accept the fact it's over $4. Spring pancake appetizer $5.45, what a joke! It was overly pan fried. Too much oil and oil was too hot! Basically, burnt. We told the staff when she came to refill the tea cup, she ignored us. Pancake cut into 6 pieces, when customer returns the plate with 4 pieces left and a frown, something went wrong. Looking at the pictures on Yelp, I am confirmed our pancake was brunt! Main dishes: Three flavoured snapper ($14), breading too thick on fish. I've had better, but I'll settle. Something has to be good. Pad See Ew - NOT Pad See Ew. Had Pad Thai thin noodles instead. Staff never came back to check on us. After the end of the meal, we asked for check, I told staff this is not Pad See Ew, she confirmed it. She said I ordered Spring Noodle dish, written by number. Then, she quickly left. Basil Chicken - it's difficult to mess up this dish. I've had better, but I won't complain. Received my check, went to the counter to pay. I told her, I DID order Pad See Ew. I didn't even order by number, but I ordered by name. She should acknowledge she made a mistake. She finally apologized. Customer is always right. She didn't care for my business and I won't be returning. There should be other Thai choices in the area... Sadly, Siam Kitchen won't be one of them. Poor service, disrespect and uncaring of customers. No wonder this place was dead during dinner time. Lots of reviews on the cheap lunch menus... I'd rather go to Yokohama for their lunch specials or Mai Thai.

Lunch special B: Spicy fire pork - $6.95 All lunch specials come with a side of Thai fried rice, Pad Thai, and soup! This is my favorite Thai restaurant around the west suburbs so far. Love that for lunch, specials are reasonably priced. Love the Pad Thai! It's not too fish saucy-- perfect texture and flavor. Love that they deliver!

Their garden pancake appetizer is to die for! I kid you not, next time I go, I'm getting 3 orders of those magic pancakes for myself. The bf will have to fend for his own hunger. The place itself is nothing to write home about, lots of white walls and a few elephant pics. It doesn't have the ambiance for a first date, but if you're like me and going on your 3 millionth date, it'll be just fine for a cheap, low maintenance night out. but the service is friendly and swift, and the portions are nice as well. I think my fave thing about Siam kitchen is that they know how to do spice. When I order a spicy basil dish - extra spicy please, they actually make it spicy... and not just pinche gringa spicy... or however you'd say it in Thai. The food is nominally priced and they have a few Thai beer selections as well. I'll defo be back when I'm in the area.

As some Yelpers mentioned, the flavors are "off" here. I ordered Pad Kee Mao, fried rice and spring rolls. Instead of the wide chewy flat noodles, it was skinny noodles that all broke apart (think of a wider, flatter linguine) and the flavor was pretty different. Maybe this is "authentic" Thai flavors vs. the typical restaurants but it wasn't very good. I've ordered from every Thai restaurant in the vicinity and although there are variations in flavor between every one, this one stands out as being the outlier in terms of what you expect a Thai dish to taste like. There were a lot of thinly sliced veggies in mine but they were not very fresh-tasting. They do deliver so that's a positive (compared to the other Thai places that deliver only certain days or hours.

My boyfriend and I just moved here, and I was dying to find a good place for green curry. Unfortunately.. this place is not it. The green curry was not very spicy, and definitely not green. I'm used to having a creamy, green, spicy curry with yummy veggies and tofu. This curry was grey, bland, separated by the time I got it home and opened it up, and the veggies were all mushy. I can't say anything about their other food, but I'd stay away from the green curry.

Wow, 2nd worst Thai experience * Ever * for me. I wonder if their curry dishes are better, because the noodle dishes we got were so bad I am never coming back. Pros: Server was friendly and happily took our orders. Vegetables were not overcooked. Prices were reasonable, especially for alcoholic drinks. Cons: Spring rolls were not very fresh tasting and had a corn-syrupy sauce that was not very tasty. Phad Thai and Phad Kee Mao were not tasty at all. Medium-size portions and were just not enjoyable. Mens' bathroom was dirty and smelly. Definitely skip this place and never look back.

My wife and I got carryout from Siam Kitchen tonight for the first time, and I am fairly certain we will not be getting food from here again. We ordered the chicken Pad Thai and the Chicken Phad See-Ewe - both of which are pretty standard Thai fare, and usually a good benchmark for a Thai restaurant. The first warning was when my wife picked up the food - on a Saturday night at 6 PM, the place was DEAD. Neither of our dishes were terrible, but they were not good either. The Phad See-Ewe had an excessive amount of black pepper in it, which is odd. And the Pad Thai didn't taste like any Pad Thai I've had before. Both dishes were also very, very dry. I saw in a previous comment from the proprietor that they have made their dishes "the same way for 15 years based upon what our customers like". It's good to please your regulars, but when you deviate in this way, you lose all potential for new business. Granted, my wife and I have made our peace with the fact that we were spoiled by many years of living in the city and having amazing and authentic Thai restaurants at our disposal, and that we cannot hold the suburban variants to the same standard. Still, I am sure we can find much more satisfying Thai fare somewhere else than Siam Kitchen.

blahkk! Some of worst Thai I have ever eaten! It was soo yuck that its hard for me to even stomach recalling the meal for this review.I actually found this place on Yelp and was excited since it had a 4 star. The 4 star is completely wrong or I caught them on a very very bad night. We ordered the spring rolls to start off with....The were cold(I know they are suppose to be but I mean really cold like straight outa the freezer cold. The tofu inside was gray ,it tasted how it looked. We then each ordered a soup,I cant remember what soup she ordered but I got the vegetarian tofu soup.It was terrible literally had no taste, the veggies were hard and raw.I made it somewhat edible by adding soy and chili paste to it. I should been the chef cause it actaully tasted good after all the add ons. By the time the meals came I was scared but still really hungry. I got the khee ma vegetarian style with tofu,my friend got the spicy basil chicken and we split the veggie fried rice. ----Khee ma....dry,tasteless and cold,my friends was the topper it had ground chicken in it! It looked like something a bird would regurgitate. She took maybe 3 bites and said she was full.Fried Rice---average but I chowed on it since it was the only thing that was edible. After dinner we were grossed out and had to pay a $55 check for some crappy food that we didnt eat.

Favorite Thai place around and they deliver! Our favorites are larb moo yang, chicken pad Thai, any fried rice and seafood shumai. Yummy! Wished we got this last night instead of trying new place!!!!

I honestly expected more. I ordered Lard Nar with tofu from the regular noodle menu. For $10,82 I expected more noodles, not just 3, and for them not to look and taste like they were cooked and then re-heated. The few noodles I received were very soggy. Disappointed. This was second time I ordered from here. Probably the last. I called the restaurant and spoke to the nice lady that gave me my food and explained to her that my noodles had a consistency of mashed potatoes. She said that she was very sorry and did not know why that happened. I told her that I was letting her know about the food I received and she said OK.

The service was not the worst. No one said good bye. The crab ragoon was too greasy and my wife asked it to be taken back and the lady was offended. I will never return to this place again. I spent $32 and left a $5 tip, standard.

This is our go-to restaurant for Thai. The food is tasty and cooked with a light touch. We generally get carry out but when we do eat in the wait staff is friendly and attentive. The room needs updating, though, and prices seem a tad high.

Had all intentions of eating here last night as it was recommended by a friend. But then we got there. The place is tiny, and half of the place is lit by one strip of track lighting, which was flickering dramatically. I have epilepsy. We're outta here! The other option would have been to sit at one of the two or three tables squeezed into the hall that leads past the kitchen. That's okay. The place was recommened by a friend so it had something going for it, but ambiance isn't it. (Seriously, fix the lights. Strobes cause seizures and migraines, even in people who aren't prone to them.) We went to Thai Cafe in downtown DG and had a great meal.

This is one of my favorite pick up places. I really like the ghengis khan beef, drunken noodles, or the pad thai. Also, the chicken pot stickers are great. I usually order take-out because to be honest, their service seems a little slow, but the food is always fresh and tasty. Also "mom" is really sweet and I love talking to her. The staff is always very kind and does their best. I love the food though and always get a good meal from here!

Our visit started off a little weird. It was Friday lunchtime around 12 noon and the place was empty. We could hear someone in the kitchen, but nobody came out to greet us. They could probably use a bell on the door or something. There is a bell at the desk, but we rang it a few times before she finally came out. I think the lady was on the phone. But that's ok, cause waiting a few minutes is not a big deal. The food was good. Great presentation. When you order you get to order a level of spice from 1-5. Or 1-3. Either way, spicy is spicy. I will probably stop by again in the future and try more of their offerings.

I have gotten takeout twice from here. Their pad thai is sooooooooo good! I always crave it and can't stop eating the huge portion when I've gotten it. I didn't care too much for their Tom Yum. I love Mai Thai's Tom Yum. Maybe someday, I'll get Tom Yum from Mai Thai and pad thai from Siam Kitchen and then I'd be in heaven. The lady who works here (Im pretty sure it is the owner) is super nice. I will definitely continue to order from here.

Small, basic place, nothing special about atmosphere. Had the Pad Thai, it was passable but a bit on the sweet side. Not much depth of flavor. Not bad but not my favorite Thai place, either.

I love, love, love Siam Kitchen! Nothing I have gotten here, has ever disappointed me. I'm currently on a curry kick, and tonight had their Chicken Mas Sa Mun. One word: YUM! My only regret is I still haven't tried their Garden Pancakes, which get such rave reviews. And - You can order and have delivery via delivery.com for only a $3 charge. Absolutely convenient, and absolutely delicious. Thank you Siam Kitchen!
