Atmosphere isn't sensational, but there is something to be said for feeling like you're having breakfast in your grandma's eat-in kitchen from 20 years ago. The food is spectacular, the waitresses are local and friendly, and the prices are a value. Definitely a fan!
We've been going here for years. It's a great place and the food is always excellent. Highly recommended.
Excellent food. Good service. Ambiance and furniture ok. Better furniture will get this place a 5 star from me.

This place is amazing. I've been there a handful of times and have never been disappointed. The setting is pretty nice, a bit dim and comforting with great servers. The pork belly appetizer is a full-fledged flavor party in your mouth. There's nothing I could suggest to improve it. I've also had the regular burger and it is so juicy and delicious that you won't even reach for ketchup. The absolute best thing on the menu is the Neat Burger. It comes open-faced with a fried duck egg sitting on top of the burger side like a beautiful work of art. The other side of the bun is covered with crispy shallots. When you combine the two sides and take your first bite it is like when all the Captain Planet kids' powers combined. Combine the delicious food on the menu with a very tempting cocktail list (try any of the whiskey concoctions if you are looking for some punch), scotch and bourbon flights, and an impressively diverse and imposing beer list for a must-visit new restaurant.
Came here on a cold Wednesday evening. When we were seated by the window, my first thought was "Wow, it's drafty in here." We asked to be moved to a table that was more towards the center or back of the restaurant so that it was warmer. When we were seated at our new table in the center, it wasn't better at all. I sat there turning my head left, right, up and down wondering where the heck the draft was coming from. Atmosphere is very chill and kind of dimly lit. The tables and chairs are pretty spaced out from each other, and there's a big empty space in the middle between the entrance and the tables. It wasn't busy when we went, so we didn't have to share our server with a whole bunch of tables. He was pretty attentive but not to the point where he was breathing down our necks. We ordered the Neat burger, three fish tacos and a side of asparagus. All three items were pretty good. The fish was just a tad bit on the dry side. So why the one star deduction? I chose this restaurant with the intention of ordering three shrimp tacos as listed on their website menu. Drove all the way to the restaurant and found out that their taco menu was almost completely different from the website! They need to update their website menu. I want my shrimp tacos! :( Overall, I would recommend this place, but dress warmly when you come here in the winter.
I stopped in for dinner last week at this neighborhood spot and was very impressed with my dinner. I had the Salmon with some type of Pesto and I must say it was the best seafood item I've had the pleasure of tasting. I ordered it medium-rare and it was perfectly cooked. Keep up the good work Chef & Staff at neat kitchen + bar in Westmont.

Great place for sushi, bento, and any type of tempura the heart could desire. Been going here for over ten years and have experienced nothing but consistent food and service. The place is extremely pricey if you choose to eat dinner their so i would recommend giving them a try for lunch. The menu is slightly smaller for lunch but they still have most of their signature dishes (also prices are literally cut in half; something that would be around 20-22$ for dinner is like 9-10$ for lunch. The location is pretty small but ive never had any issues with being seated other than on occasion for dinner. Would recommend: -Bento box lunch special ( comes with choice of meat, beef, salmon, or chicken teriyaki. 2 GIGANTIC California Rolls. Salad with sesame dressing. Vegetable and shrimp tempura). -Chicken Teriyaki meal -Sushi Deluxe Lunch (about 8 variety's of sushi with your choice of either 6 california rolls, tuna rolls, or cucumber rolls) -Gyoza appetizer is great for a starter too! And all meals come with miso soup and the hottest, and strongest green tea i have ever had.
At the beginning of my meal, I thought I would give this place three stars, then two stars, then it dropped to one star. I decided to come here after seeing 4 stars on yelp with a two dollar sign $$. I didn't look in detail enough, I suppose, but the Yelp Elite member showed a pic with very "rice padded" sushi. The overall rating, is one of the very few times Yelp has disappointed me (and my wallet). The only good thing about this place is the quick and friendly service. The sushi is pricey. It's $8 for a Philadelphia roll that only has a tiny sliver of salmon. See other sushi photos- they all follow this same trend. The veggie tempura was also pricey for what it was. A soda was $2.25. Everything was so high. This is not downtown Chicago! This is a little "hole in the wall" in Westmont, and I can't imagine that their overhead is so high that their sushi prices exceed other sushi restaurant's prices in the area. I would expect $5 for maki, not $8. And every item adds up. I will not be coming back here again. While I commend the service of the waitress, I'm not happy to drop $30/person for slim sushi.
I'm always on these temporary "healthy" diets but I did not want to cook anything on a Saturday night. So, my parents suggested a sushi joint owned by some Japanese folks. When was the last time you met somebody from Japan? Not some Asian fellow who probably is Chinese or Koreanese, but a real Japanesian. After experiencing their food, I'd say this is the most authentic Japanese food I have yet to have in the Chicago burbs. Maybe I am jaded cuz I think the owners are Japanese. Nonetheless, the food tastes FAF (fresh as frick). The food here is 5-stars, but you have to pay a hefty price for it. There are a lot of pricey sushi places out there that cost a lot and have great presentation, but their sashimi tastes and feels limp and not fresh. This place has some FFrF (fricken fine raw fish). It took a long time to get our food. My party arrived fairly early in the night so we did not have to wait for seating (can't make reservations for groups under a party of SIX btw..), but there were customers arriving later who had a long wait. Watching the waitresses running frantically around stressed me out. There might have only been two people on the wait staff that night handling the entire restaurant. The longest wait was for the first dish to come out. After the first dish came out, the long wait in between dishes didn't bother me as much since I wasn't salivating every time the waitress passed me with an order fresh out of the oven. TLDR: Service can be better but their sushi is fresh and delicious

I just moved into the city, and I am going to travel out to the burbs for this place. I love it! The samosas are perfect, and I love just ordering items off of the chat menu that I have no idea what they are - what an adventure. Everything is vegetarian - but don't let that scare off meat lovers. This is a great change of pace at an incredibly reasonable price. And the staff are as nice as they get - and very understanding of those of us who need a little help deciding. ;) Having a party? Get a tray of samosas, and you are guaranteed to be popular - I've proven that one several times now, in all kinds of company.
The first time I had been here, the snacks were really good. Although the mango lassi was not mango or lassi, but it was edible. So yesterday, I decided to go again Firstly, if you have posted a number on Yelp, use it. I call the number and it goes to Voicemail so I decided to drive all the way to the place (Its FAR!!!). As soon I reached there, I was told that the place was closed for the day because they had some gas leakage. I would have saved gallons if they would have picked up their phone and told me that the place is closed.
Mumbai natives rejoice! let me explain what "chat" is. its not idle small talk.. pronounced like "chah-t" its basically street food local to Mumbai. It can be light and spicy, filling and delicious, dry or saucy. Its what my mom grew up on, so naturally it has a special place in our lives. The food is executed very nicely. Ideal for carry out for entertaining guests. We ate a whole sampler lunch. vada pav, pav bhajji, manchurian, samosa, samosa-chaat, sev puri, chole bhatura.. I especially liked the manchurian and the vada pav. The actual location could use an overhaul, but the establishment is a new one, a family owned start up and they are certainly trying to save for the dining room. They do special catering orders which is very interesting to me! Big indian parties apply here.

I wish I can give more stars.... Ambiance was just ok.... Just had dinner the previous weekend at Vincitori, which is right across the street.... A fine dining restaurant as well...they have a live band and a bit more darker and cozier....Perfect for date nights.... Anyways....My BF and I were seated and it took 12 minutes before Fabian (our server) even bothered to swing by .... Didn't even introduce himself .... Just started blabbing the specials ... Prior to this... We were just sitting...looking around.... My BF had to stand up and ask the hostess for a wine menu. Thumbs down !!! There was maybe 12 tables in the main area.... And I see only two servers, Fabian and this other tall one. I like the fact that they have a couple of bussers.,.. One that just refills water.... A crummer.... A busser who removes silverware and re-sets new ones...: another one who serves bread... Our first issue-- serves cold butter .... But then the variety of sliced breads they serve is cold too... I mean... It's either you serve warm bread and cold butter.... Or just serve EVOO and cheese with cold bread... We ordered a bottle of Bila Haute Rhone $36...Its blended wine which is pretty good Appetizer -- grilled calamari $14 ....3/5 Why? Flavor was definitely amazing.... One of the best I have had.... Soft texture and sweet ... What you expect from fresh seafood.... BUT was served cold.... Not even warm.... I mean.... I'm assuming Fabian didn't get it to us fast enough, from the kitchen warming table??? Soup --- potato soup & tortellini soup $8 each...3/5 Why? Again the flavor of both soups are just really outstanding .... And the busser assigned to pour the soup in front of us..... It's just a great presentation BUT both soups were both lukewarm.... Not even warm .... You expect soup to be at least borderline hot at least right?! So we were just disappointed coz it was really good flavor but would've been phenomenal if served hot. Ugh! Then we ordered our entrees: I ordered short ribs: $25 4/5 My BF ordered scallops $28 4/5 Both were cooked perfect.... Short ribs was very tender and breaks apart easily... You know it's baked for a loooong time .... but lacks flavor.... My favorite short ribs is still Coopers Hawk (risotto short ribs.) Yum! Scallops were grilled to perfection.... But both dishes..... Also were served just barely warm.... What's up with that?!!!!! We didn't order dessert.... Our bill was $130 plus $30 tip.....Not bad with a bottle of wine Problem is... We didn't feel satisfied or didn't have that "OMG, we will definitely come back amazing satisfied" feeling... We see another fine dining restaurant J Flemings.... Since we have tried Vincitori and Amber.... We are still in a quest for a really nice exceptional fine dining experience ..... I will definitely yelp about that experience too....
Top 5 in my 'fast favorites' I've eaten at. I ordered the 'Steak Frites' dinner option. This steak is one of, if not, THE best steak I've ever had. Lobster mac & cheese was out of this world, as well as the oysters. I compulsively reach for the salt with my dinner usually, but didn't even think on it here. Servicepeople were all wonderful, ambiance is a 10/10. I am just overall impressed by this place. Best dinner I've had in a LONG time.
Had an amazing experience at Amber for a women networking event. Delicious appetizers, Gorgeous back patio , great staff members, very inviting and elegant decor. Great place for diners, parties or anything in between . Enjoy !!!

I have dined at this restaurant several times but this is the first time I have written a review. This is my go to place for very good seafood, that is reasonably priced and casual. It's a big space, so at times, depending on when you go can be noisy. I love the fact that they have a dixie quartet that will go to various tables and play dixie style music. Nice touch without being corny. My all time favorite is the cedar plank salmon. My spouse loves the fillet mignon with the carribean lobster tail. The filet and lobster are generous portions that are reasonbly priced and you'd pay much more in downtown Chicago for this entree. The calamari appetizer is excellent. The best dessert is the banana pudding. Quite a hump mile wise coming from downtown Chicago, but worth the treck. You don't pay for parking! This is a fun place, but would not recommend for a romantic or first date.
Love the blackened mahi with Yvette sauce - wine, jack cheese, spinach, mushrooms and crawfish - heavenly! Also have to order the shrimp brochettes - big shrimp stuffed with slivered jalapeno and jack cheese, wrapped in bacon, and served with lemon butter. The grilled asparagus is a great side, and save room for their incredible dessert tray. We were heartbroken when the Arlington Heights location closed, but the experience at Westmont is exactly the same ... we're definitely willing to make the drive when we want a great seafood dinner.
We love this place! There was a little wait time, but it was well worth it! Service was excellent and the food was fresh and delish! We can't wait to come bak again!

Just took down a bowl of their Baked French Onion soup like a champ. I love the gooey melted cheese that makes me work to get to the pile of carmalized onions. It is served piping hot so don't get brave and touch the handle. Since I was on an onion streak, why not order a 14" inch pie with Sausage and even more Onions. Its not like I was on a hot date anyways. The soup pretty much knocked me out so half the pizza came home with me that in reality will be late night munchies or breakfast. Might I suggest for dessert to jump on the video gaming machines, its seem to be my after dinner ritual. Highly reccommended. Server Sarah was a doll. She was awesomely friendly and quick with the refills. Oh and FYI...order a side of Hot Wing Sauce for dipping the pizza.
I can't believe I've never reviewed Papa Passero's. I guess it's a place I used to go growing up and haven't really gone there in years. Still feels like yesterday, though. So anyway, the pizza we had this weekend was great. We asked for it to be well-done and it was nice and crispy. The only reason I'm holding off on the last star is because the sauce could be a bit more... robust, if you will. We also had the nachos - one of those OMG huge platters. Since I'm vegetarian, we had them substitute beans instead of the chili. I think similar to the pizza, the nachos were excellent and would've been perfect, except the beans could've been more flavorful. Anyway, overall it was great to be back and I look forward to being back again.
I've been eating here for at least 25 years, since I was a young-in'..... Food is good but nothing special, it was the go to place for a Cheese and Sausage pizza on Saturday night, and not much has changed. They have expanded their menu and added seating, but the food is still the same... good, but not special. They offer 3 sizes (thin, medium and thick) for their crust. It's hard to define yourself if you offer 10,000 options. Just an observation... I'd definitely say you give it a try, but don't expect to be knocked over. It's a solid go to joint if you live close.

My very first Sushi experience and this place made it best. We had Shrimp Shumai,Sake,Spicy crab cake roll,Albacore,Chicago fire roll. All of them were great in taste,I loved Chicago fire roll, spicy and sour.... This place shouldn't be missed!!!
Good place, good food. I'm not always in the mood for sushi, but when the yearning would hit me, this was one of my go-to places in the area. They also have some pretty good standard Japanese fare, too. Service and food were always great. Yet another thing I miss about living in the western suburbs of Chicago.
I came here for an early lunch on a weekday. It was around $20 for a maki roll, 2 pieces of nigiri and green tea. I don't find that unreasonable but it was not my best sushi experience. The fish to rice ratio was sad and the rice was dry like maybe it hadn't been made fresh that day. Perhaps I should give it another try when the restaurant is busier like during dinnertime.
