My family and I came here for breakfast and it was amazing...fluffy pancakes, great hash browns and smooth coffee that just kept getting refilled without me having to hunt someone down. We be our new go to place for breakfast in the area.

Typical Greek owned restaurant, with a large menu to select from. Food is good, nothing special. Good prices and servers. Serves breakfast all day. Good place to go to if its later in the evening and everyone is undecided on where to go.

This is Palatines hidden jem..I'm in here once or twice a week and always order take out and have not been disappointed. This is a great little spot and value wise it would be hard to find anything better. I have never experienced a rude employee as some others have mentioned. I love this place and know they will be around for awhile. Keep up the great work as I will be back as long as your in business.

I love this place, from the 2x2x2 (two strips of bacon, two pancakes and two eggs any style) to the turkey club, all good is homemade just like your granny would make it. It's the type of place in the morning that the old men hang out at around 7am and talk to the waitresses by their first name, so it's a nice vibe whether you live here or not. I'm glad they hold the quality of food to a high standard after all these years of being in buissness.

Seems like a standard family restaurant - yet when you look at the menu; they add a series of Greek fare to add to the list. I live very close to this place. We've gone 20+ times. I never thought to write a review because I've done a lot for traveling, but not for walking distance from my home... (ooops.... should i have said that... hee hee hee). I guess the fact that I've gone 20+ times speaks volumes, right. I will say that the place over-indexes on seniors (people over 65) - it appeals to that kind of crowd. Yet... also is very family friendly with children's menu, crayons, games etc... Really... a solid family restaurant with a disproportionate share of greek dishes - and a place where you can feel comfortable, casual, and get a good meal. Doesn't matter whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Palatine Inn gets a solid three stars from me. They have your usual diner fare, as well as other dishes that go beyond the typical diner. One example is their grecian chicken, which is really great. You get several pieces of freshly broiled chicken in a yummy lemon sauce with a side of Greek potatoes, and soup or salad. I like their homemade soups, and I've never gone wrong with some staples like pecan pancakes, and the turkey club. Someone mentioned the place seems old or run-down, and I disagree. While it's not by any means hip, the restaurant has a homey atmosphere, and you can tell it's filled with local families that have been coming for years. It's nothing fancy, but it has a local, no-frills feeling. Great family-run, local place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for 1970. Old fashioned flat omelettes, perfect pancakes, impeccable Belgian waffles, and service that my wife says came straight out of a 1970' s sitcom. They perfectly capture what breakfast was all about 50 years ago. I can understand why young hipsters don't like this place. But put on your time machine goggles and your sense of humor and enjoy!

We've lived in the Palatine area for 36 years. The Palatine Inn is our family's GO TO restaurant whenever we can't all agree on any other specialty restaurant. I highly recommend you select from the daily special list which are always inserted in the middle of the menu. There's are always selection of great entrees that will please the most critical palette ranging from a variety of meats to vegetarian delights. Also, every dinner listed in the daily specials is inclusive of a great selection of delicious soups or salads, as well as a large variety of desserts ranging from ice creams to delicious cakes (I highly recommend the German Chocolate with a heap of whip cream) and pies; all on display. Here's a hint for those who are 55+. In addition to a great Senior Citizen section of the menu (same great dinners with full quantity of food, but offered at a much reduced price) the two main dinners offered on the daily specials are offered to Seniors at an additional discount. The food is scrumptious, the service is great, the restaurant is also inviting and clean, and the prices are always moderate to low. My Final Hint ... Checkout "linkedoffers.com" for $5.00 coupons which are valid every day throughout the year. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB PALATINE INN!

The Palatine Inn is a nice, old style Diner on Northwest Highway in Palatine. It is well lit, well decorated (although perhaps a little outdated), and has a very extensive menu. You want breakfast at 2AM? Feel like dinner at 7AM? They have it. There are regular specials featured that include bread, soup or salad and the entree. Daily specials also include desert. (Their pies are outstanding.) The food was good and the service outstanding. We'll be back.

We've been to this place twice and so far the food has been pretty good as far as breakfast food goes. But the service is horrible had to wait 20 min for a refill on my coffee and water. The waitress looked like she hated her job and was annoyed when we asked her for anything. Food is good but there are a lot better places with friendly staff and awesome food. Don't think we'll be dining here again.

My family and I have visited this restaurant a couple of times and have been completely satisfied every time. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were clean, and the environment was comforting and diner like. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially for my picky children. I think the best part of this restaurant is that they serve breakfast all day. My family loves breakfast for dinner. Also I highly recommend trying the chicken parmesan, and the veggie stir fry. Those are my favorite dishes. Their menu is very large, and there is definitely something for the whole family. I would recommend this place for somebody who wants a good homely meal for the family and doesn't want to spend a lot. Definitely a child friendly restaurant.

I'm really not sure why this place only has 3 stars over all. I've been coming here for years with my parents and now my boyfriend and I go for at least coffee and dessert once a week. This homey place is inviting and is a perfect mix of diner & blue collar restaurant. Let's start with service. While this place is usually fairly crowded, it doesn't take long to get seated because it's a pretty sizable place. Mary Ann is our favorite waitress and we usually request her. The other waitresses are all very nice and accommodating, she's just our favorite. :) Their whole menu (which is BIG) is done well. There are nights where 4 of us go two get breakfast one gets an entree and one gets a salad and it all comes out great and hot (or the correct temperature) at the same time. You really cannot beat their prices on somethings and if an item is more than $10 you can be sure it's worth the money. Recent favorites of ours include The half slab rib dinner - Ribs, side, soup or salad and dessert for 13.95 I LOVE the jalapeno burger (I change the cheese to mozzarella instead of cheddar). It's the perfect amount of heat and you can tell they hand make the burgers because the peppers are mixed into the meat. The turkey club is a great deal and can easily be split for two. My dad usually loves whichever fish is on special. Their breakfast items no matter what time of day or what you order are always great. For dessert options, rice pudding, and their apple squares are phenomenal. Definitely ignore the bad reviews and give Palatine Inn a try!

Unless you pass by this place every day, you will never notice it. I have lived in Palatine for eight months and it took me seven months to even notice it was there. Anyhow, if you like the diners that have an old diner feel, this is the place to go. The interior decor is a little outdated, which kind of brings a nice feeling to the restaurant. The service was prompt, without any issues. The food met expectations, and was priced accordingly. I would probably go back here if I needed a quick bite for breakfast. I am not sure how the lunch and dinner items are, but judging by the menu, it appeared that they had a huge selection. I personally wouldn't go back for lunch or dinner, but I would go back for ice cream. They have a pretty decent selection of desserts.

For some mysterious reason, my in laws enjoy this place. It defies logic. We have ended up here for holidays for several years now. The food never gets any better. I fully expect this place to be on "Kitchen Nightmares" one day. But that would imply, of course, that management knows there is a problem. Everything here is dirty or rusty or old or all of the above. It clearly needs to be cleaned and updated. The menu is equally uninspired, and worse, poorly executed. Because of the lack of options, I usually go with poached eggs. I mean, how can you screw up poached eggs? Well, you keep the shell on, of course. Our waitress didn't even seem perturbed by it. I also had unripe tomatoes and tasteless turkey sausage. This place is overpriced, tasteless and bland. There's a pancake house down the street, a Baker's Square and a deli on the same avenue. Hell, there's a Burger King next door that probably has a cleaner interior and more menu choices. Save your money, save your time, save your gut. Go elsewhere.

I ordered a side salad (all the other salads were loaded with meat) and a fruit cup. My salad was so watery- and overpriced! $5 for a cup of salad? Come on!- so I only ate half. My fruit was dry and flavorless so I sent it back. Our waitress left much to be desired and wouldn't know friendliness if it bit her on the ass. I should have listened to previous reviews that discussed lack of vegan/vegetarian options. I walk by this restaurant almost every day on my walks and there is always a substantial crowd. I figured it couldn't be too bad if so many people frequented the place. In fact, as I left there were about 30 people waiting to be seated. Once the diners around me began eating I realized why so this place was always crowded. The garbage on their plates spoke for their taste in food. I was repulsed by some of the food I saw! One diner had a plate COMPLETELY soaked in some kind of white, thick, creamy gravy. Disgusting.

DISAPPOINTING DINER I'm a big fan of the Greek -style or homey diners every town boasts. Typically you find hearty, comfort food juicy burger platters filled with crisp fries and tureens of creamed soups. The menu and consistency pretty universal. Pulled in yesterday for lunch. First timer. And last timer. Experienced very poor service. For example, I had to hunt down our waitress for ketchup, multiple drink refills and napkins. When we complained about our food she just shrugged her shoulders in mock empathy, but did nothing to rectify it. Speaking of food, my sister's pizza burger was dry (overcooked) and instead of dripping in meat sauce and mozzarella - the equivalent of a slice of cheese and a DRIZZLE of sauce adorned her burger. It was so scant on sauce that there was no meat clinging to it....as it should in meat sauce! I ordered the Hungarian ghoulash. The description said strogonoff noodles, the picture showed strogonoff noodles......yet spaghetti noodles was what sat under my ghoulash. I couldn't wrap the meat around the noodles like I prefer nor did the gravy stick to the (supposed to be robust) noodles; rather, it just slid off the skinny strands. We did mention it to the manager who brought my sister extra sauce. Unknown to us till we were leaving, the manager put our entire tab on the house. That was very nice and most appreciated. The recovery was great. But in all honesty I just would have preferred a relaxing lunch buttressed by good service and good food.

If I could, I would eat here everyday. The soups they offer are all great and the main courses are even better! They only offer somewhat stale bread wrapped up in plastic wrap but the place's main customers are mostly senior citizens so it's understandable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the service is always provided with a smile.

Very family friendly. I really like their soups, and they change everyday. They have a nice bar area you can go and sit at solo. This is a type of place that gives you a bread basket. Ive had their fish before and it was decent.

We went there for brunch on a Sunday and even though it was busy, the service was still great. The food was really delicious as well. The menu has many different options and offers breakfast all day.

I used to love this place. It was our go to Resturant for breakfast and lunch. Decent sandwiches, soup and specials. Then my sister started to have major stomach problems after we'd eat here, and we had to start looking for other options and our visits became less and less as better places were found. I recently went back here, as a friend from out of town who used to live in Palatine suggested it, and I was really sort of disappointed. On a positive note, I'm pregnant and had a taste for country fried steak. The waitress informed me that they could accommodate me and I was thrilled. When the dish came the chicken wasn't really country fried steak but tasty non the less and I did enjoy it. What I hated was the "sausage gravy" or what they claimed was sausage gravy on the chicken. It was terrible...no sausage, flavorless, and gooey. Not pleasant at all. My sister was with us and she took a chance on the biscuits and gravy (which is on the menu), as it's become a new found favorite of hers at other breakfast locations, we agreed the gravy must have been Campbell's mushroom soup or something of that nature, but I'm thinking Campbell's mushroom soup has more flavor. I had to load it with pepper and it still wasn't very good. My egg was fine, and I think the best part was the toast. Our waitress was accommodating. I later received a text from my sister that she was once again sick from the food at The Palatine Inn prompting me to write this review. As for another visit? I think I'll be going elsewhere unless another out of towner wants to go here. It's just not worth it and there really are better breakfast and lunch places within a couple of blocks of this place that have the cafe Greek style flare, won't make my sister sick, and have delicious gravy to boot!

Good place for a late lazy breakfast. Waitresses here are nice and not pushy like some places can be. Generous portions. I got spinach and feta omelet. Usually places blob the cheese on one part or another. The cooks aren't lazy here and it was prepared really good and consistent. I did pancakes instead of toast and I was stuffed. Im a big guy and can pack it away but this place gave me a run for my money. Which wasn't a lot. Extremely reasonable prices. 2 omelet breakfasts with pancakes 2 coffees(free refills too) plus tip and we only spent about $30. Will definately be back

The great thing about this restaurant - outside of being able to order breakfast at anytime of day - is the fact that there are a little over ten billion things in the menu, giving you a serious amount of choices/variety. Good prices, friendly staff. Great for groups especially if everyone has the taste for something different.

Hey, not bad!! My dad lives in the area, and whenever I ask him if he wants to meet for lunch, this is where he suggests! He loves it there, and who am I to judge Daddy's opinion?! But I think the food here is pretty solid. In most restaurants, you have to order a separate soup or side salad with your lunch or dinner meal, but here, it still comes with it. The quality/quantity of the food is important nowadays! Since their soups this past Saturday didn't sound very appealing, I was able to upgrade my soup to a salad for just $1. Woohoo!! But my hamburger was solid, and the fries were tasty. I also like that each piece of bread in the bread basket is individually wrapped. This means tons of people haven't touched it prior to my consumption (think about the "Fecal Vision skit from SNL if you don't know what I am talking about). I KNOW I will be back here if my dad has any say in the matter :)

Let me first say that several years ago I would've given Palatine Inn a higher rating. I used to love this place and would crave their cream of chicken rice soup constantly - I even knew the days of the week they'd rotate it in. It had that fabulous lemon flavor of a Greek soup mixed with the perfect chicken flavor and wonderful cream soup consistency. Sometimes it would have orzo instead of rice - both were fabulous! The other food was always great, too. Now don't get me wrong - they still serve up some good basic food. However, the cream of chicken soup drastically changed the past couple of years (and not for the better) - i don't even bother ordering it anymore. It is pretty much flavorless. No hint of lemon - and not much of any other flavor, either. As of late, the other food has been hit or miss for us, too. Also, we have had several experiences as of late with "less than stellar" service. It is unfortunate that something that was such a "go to" sure-thing-to-please-anyone kind of place has been on the decline with food and service. They aren't terrible - just not what they were. Hopefully they will start to "fix" some of these things and get back to what they were. In the meantime, our once regular trips have become less frequent for sure.

I love the staff here! My kids have grown up coming to this restaurant, and the wait staff has always made them feel welcome and right at home. From the welcoming smiles to the lollipop for the kids as we leave. The old time diner feel and the personal attention makes this place worth coming back to!

My rating is for their breakfasts since that's the only meals we've had here. I can't speak for lunch or dinner. But we come almost every Sunday and we absolutely LOVE the atmosphere and the food. The service is very good, and their breakfast menu is extensive. One of the things we love about it is the multi-generational clientele. It's very neat to see grandparents, parents and kids all together for a family breakfast. And their breakfasts are wonderful. There's a lot of food and we've enjoyed everything that we've ever ordered. My husband always orders his bacon extra crispy wherever we go, and Palatine Inn is the ONLY place that has been able to accomodate. Simple thing, but small things matter. Don't come here if you're looking for a "foodie" atmosphere (there are plenty of nice places for that). Come here if you want a charming, nostalgic, relaxing breakfast with good food and nice people.

I just had dinner a a few minutes ago. Wow they have gone down hill! It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember the nice waitresses and good food as my family had their meals at Palatine Inn. They must have changed owners. I thought the bread coming in plastic wrap was a good idea.. Cleaner. But why wrap dryed out bread, to keep it longer than a week? Being a Greek own business I thought I should stick with their special and had a gyro platter. Since I've had gyros from every carry out in the northwest suburbs, I figure this is going to be good. Not! The meat was dry out and sat in a pool of oil. It tasted and looked like week old Spam. The sauce was more like cold cream cheese. I guess my memories of the family going to Palatine Inn are shot.

Jack of all trades, master of none. Every entree is just fair. Reasonable prices...so I guess you get what you pay for. Frozen fish etc. The breakfast items are not bad. The salads are generally very good. Nice atmosphere. Totally disinterested waitstaff. Owners don't seem to care what is going on. Still good in a pinch. Would be nice if they were open later.

I have been to Palatine Inn a few times as it is Girlfriend's parent's regular place. I don't remember exactly what I got when I have gone with them for dinner but I do remember never being impressed. I went again today for breakfast, after visiting literally 3 other breakfast restaurants in the area only to find a full parking lot and no seating. Starving as I was, I decided to take a chance on the Palatine Inn just one more time. Who knows? Maybe their dinner doesn't paint an appropriate picture of what this restaurant has to offer! Wrong. I got the house skillet (broccoli, cauliflower, cheddar and two scrambled eggs) and it was really average. I would have been better off buying a bag of frozen veggies from Aldi and scrambling two eggs up at home - at least then the eggs wouldn't be mushy, cold and bland. It was a pretty disappointing meal, though I did try some of Girlfriend's pancakes and they were pretty delicious. Also, despite the fact that we went after breakfast hours we didn't receive a bread basket, which would have been nice considering how long the wait was on our food. two skillets ended up being $20, which I thought was a little pricey for the quality, and quantity that we got. Not planning on going back here, I just am not a fan.

Went here for dinner. Once. Will only ever go back to try their dessert if I'm feeling like risking it. On a vegetarian friendly scale, I give them two carrots. There is 24/7 breakfast, but other than that, your option is grilled cheese. I ordered a veggie skillet with wheat toast. The toast was the driest, oldest toast I've ever had at a restaurant. The skillet was good, but near the end i found a small piece of something that looked horribly like meat... or dog poop... or something else that didn't belong on my plate. the worst part was the service. the server must've come directly from a funeral because she barely acknowledged us as humans, seemed bitter when we asked for anything like refills or condiments, and just overall seemed like a miserable person. After my fiance asked for a box for his leftovers, she dropped the check and told us to "have a nice night" (someone should have told her face) and walked away. We were thinking about getting dessert, but I think we had taxed her enough...
