Driving through the neighborhood I noticed this new restaurant opening up and decided to stop by for breakfast today. I have my places I usually go to for breakfast but decided on something new. So Just Like Home was the perfect choice. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess that immediately took us to our seats. We noticed that the inside looked very nice, clean, and inviting. A short moment later and we were served water and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered coffee and chocolate milk. Both were fresh and tasty. After looking at the menu and narrowing our selection, we concluded on a gyro omelet and the homemade corn beef hash. The food arrived and the plates were filled to the edges. The presentation was very nice and all garnishes were edible (grapes & pineapple) Both dishes were extremely savory. Our waitress did make sure we had everything we needed and upon request brought any necessary condiments. The service, the food, the experience is one we will never forget. For breakfast in this area it is the place to go, no doubt about it. We will definitely return and make sure we have lunch there as well. You will not be disappointed in my opinion. Prices : Very good in comparison with the portions Service : A+

We were excited to try this place after it opened. Who doesn't love a new breakfast place? We were a little disappointed. We came for breakfast and had omelets. Not bad, not great. The selection wasn't very large or interesting. It's standard diner offerings. I wouldn't be opposed to going back, but we're not in a big hurry. My wife's veggie omelet was actually pretty good with fresh veggies. They did improve the decor from the previous owners.

My first time here was on a Sunday morning around 11:00 am. The restaurant was relatively busy but not crowded. I ordered the vegetarian omelette that came with hash browns and pancakes. The food was good and the service was efficient. My coffee cup was refilled several times. The prices are reasonable and and the portions are generous. I usually go to Seven Brothers in Morton Grove but I am glad I came here. I will come back again to try their dinner menu.

I just downgraded it because we tried to go last Sunday for dinner at about 7:30, thinking it was open until 9 as the main sign on the pole says it's open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. That sign had not changed but the door was locked (although the "open" signs were still in the windows), and there was a sign on the door stating it now closed at 7 on Sunday. Very disappointing. They need to make up their mind when it's going to be open, update their main sign, and abide by it.

I wrote in a couple of months ago about this place Just Like Home. I gave it a rather harsh review. The one thing I have learned in this situation is that diners and restaurants are just like people. They too can have off days, and what we say here on these review sites do matter to the owners and staff members of the places we right about. We have now been back two times to this establishment, and each time has bettered the last. I spoke with the owner today after having the best lunch my husband and I have had in a while. I introduced myself and she recognized us from the first time being there. I immediately felt right at home with this person. I talked to her about my reasoning for the first review, but that I've been so delighted since that they've made a second impression on my husband and I that has one us over. Everyone deserves a second chance! Gail was our server today. She is friendly, personable, and boy does she know the menu. By far the best server there! For lunch today we had the potato skins, which are made fresh on the spot with real cheddar and real bacon. They may take a bit to cook but that's because they are not fried or frozen like they are in other places. We had the chicken noodle soup and I had a Turkey and cheddar club, so big my mouth couldn't fit around the sandwich. My husband had the Phillips Cheese steak and loved it! I would like to take back my previous statement of distaste for Just Like Home, and make a statement of totally belly full of yummy-ness. Please check this place out!

On a snowy, wintry night, this place was warm and welcoming with the best cream of chicken and rice soup I have ever eaten. The chef can come to my home and cook this soup any time Bread basket was filled with a variety of fresh rolls, muffins, and crackers. Our club sandwiches were stuffed with the appropriate fillings and the perfect side of fries. Yes, perfect. Crispy on the outside and piping hot ~ chomp. There is a small bar area to the left as you enter, seating to the right. There are booths and tables. Space was clean, service was quick, with a smile, and just what we needed after spending the day at the Hospice unit. Prices are extremely reasonable. If I am ever in the area, and in need of a quick bite, I would happily stop in again.

Have been going for years to other restaurants in the area, there is no doubt that this is the place. First, it is the cleanest. Second, it is the roomiest by that I mean you are not crunched together. Third, you are able to hear each other talk. Fourth, the service is excellent. Fifth and most important is that the food is outstanding. The soups are great and the rest of the menu qualifies for five stars. Like Mikey says, TRY IT and you will not go wrong.

This was our first time coming here! We drive pass it all the time I figured to finally give it a try! I had the gyro plate which was not bad! They are a little stingy with the sauce but other wise good! The fries were amazing!!! Had the perfect crunch and soft center! Yum! I had the Cesar salad on the side and I wish I didn't! The Cesar dressing was kind of sweet and disgusting!! Not my style! But since I begged for it I ate most of it so my boyfriend wouldn't complain! Lmao my boyfriend had the monte cristo, he wasn't happy with it! Chicken was very clearly old and rubbery! But they had the jelly he likes so he shut up! Not sure if we'll be back!

Not sure what happened to this place. Perhaps they changed cooks? I had been there several times in the past for breakfast or lunch and it was always good basic meal with friendly service. But we stopped for a late breakfast recently and the food was a big disappointment, as was the service. The place had few customers but service was slow, although friendly enough. I got one of their breakfast skillets and it was almost all onions, greasy, with eggs that were overcooked. I like that they have a private room that one could use for a group, but until I hear that they have a new cook, we will not return! Private parking lot. Nice clean bathrooms.

If you ever want to eat with you're family or friends this is the place to go. Very attentive and exceptionally genuine care for a pleasant dining experience. Their soups rock and are always delicious. I have yet to have a bad meal there and they will compromise and substitute for your order without attitude like other places. The restaurant is just like it's name "Home". Terry and her mom always make sure that my family and anyone who comes in there immediately feels welcome and at ease. I highly recommend you try this place out. Great portions too.

Thank goodness there is an affordable all purpose restaurant still. The food is great, the staff friendly and attentive, and plenty of parking as well. I have not had a bad experience at this restaurant, and support all that they do.

I will absolutely NEVER go back there. The woman at the counter can't handle the job, that's fine, but today there was a wait. She decided to give her friend a table before people that had been waiting longer. After giving her a piece of my mind, she said she didn't write down my name. The idiot asked me if it was the proper spelling when she wrote it down.

A nice family restaurant. The food is good. The service is good. I go there enough that my family and the staff are on a first-name basis. Sunday mornings are slammed. Avoid between 9:30 and 11:30. I have one complaint. The serve too much food. I am a big big man and I cannot or should not eat the whole amount they serve,. Try the JLH Burger, which a half a cow with Merkt's cheddar on a giant bun with enough fries to build a room addition to your house. It is very good. Also, their salads are good, especially the cobb or greek salad. For breakfast, their omelets are excellent. If you are looking to add on a few pounds, try the skillets. They are outstanding and have enough calories to cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This place is a few blocks from my house (walking distance) so I've eaten here several times. The breakfasts are pretty good but skip the lunch and dinner stuff, it's not great. I have not had any disastrous service or other issues reported by prior reviewers. Breakfast wise, the food seems to be at its peak on busy weekend mornings. They do have a small bar as well although I've never set foot in it. Safe bet for kids and there's lots of parking.

We're from Evanston, and we drive by this restaurant twice a week on the way to and from O'Hare. Last night around 8PM, we stopped by for a late dinner on the way home. The hostess, who we later learned is the owner along with her husband, was very welcoming . The atmosphere is pleasant for a casual restaurant, it's well lit and clearly kept very clean. Great food, prompt courteous service and a reasonable price. What more can you ask for in a casual restaurant? I saw where someone wrote about the large portions. I can attest to that. We both had leftovers which we'll be enjoying this weekend. This was a terrific find, and I'm sure we'll be stopping again. We also like the idea that this is a small business where they're clearly working hard to offer a pleasant dining experience. The owner was telling us that her husband is the cook, and their children work with them as well.

Zero stars if possible and do yourself a favor and learn how to treat a customer. The hash browns were cold and under done, the corned beef hash was inedible and the service attitude was rude and wrong.

Went here with my boyfriend and a lovely group of friends while visiting the Chicago suburbs and was super pleased with the service and restaurant atmosphere. The food tastes fresh and they are not shy about their servings. If you hungry and looking to feed your appetite, be sure to stop by JLH restaurant because they have HUGE entrees and plenty of options. I like the modern decor with the diner feel. The exposed kitchen is a nice touch and their in-house bar is quite the great addition to the restaurant. For graduation parties, get togethers, quick bite for lunch or dinner or brunch, you MUST pay the folks at Just Like Home a visit. It's a family run restaurant that leaves you a lasting impression. Check them out!
