I tried the beef Kebab and it was so good, the chicken one is not that good. Rice is awesome, shawerma is good too. Would eat her everyday if it was close to where I live (4 hours).

A good meal--but I have to say schawarma inn is so much better in taste and freshness. the pita was cold and kind of stale. The girl working in the front was friendly and helpful when we had questions. But one of the guys looked like he didn't really care about anyone sitting there. Overall, the space is small with about 4 tables. Seems a lot of people order and pick up from here. When we went at lunch time there was only two businessmen eating besides me and hubby. 4 stars because it was good food, not excellent.

Came in and tried a couple of the lahmajoons. There was Assyrian and Armenian. Armenian is thin and the toppings more fine, and the Assyrian the opposite. I liked the food combo options and will come back for a full meal at a later time. The owners are related to the people that own Arax's, but are much nicer.

Great food @ great prices. Friendly staff. My husband and I bought the combo platter for three. There was so much food! We had food for the whole week!!

Great location for the homemade taste of Assyrian/Iraqi food. I could take my (Middle Eastern), mother here for a meal and walk out with little complaint. The location itself is best for carry out or single dining, but it doesn't feel congested inside and the owners are very polite. Their chicken dishes are always flavorful and juicy, and I never forget to grab a generous pack of their lah'majoun every visit. I would definitely recommend not passing it up!

A little meditterranean grill and bakery. The food is very good and the bakery is excellent . I come to this place when I'm driving in milwaukee. I love their Armenian lahem ajun spicy and full of flavor. This place is attached to arax foods and I believe they are both related. The dining area is very small and the place is a to go spot. Service is excellent ! Very friendly family business. I will be back and will tell everybody about his good restaurant.

We usually order the abundant combination trays for take-out when having people over for dinner. We just ordered the combo tray for 5 and 6 people enjoyed the delicious selection of different foods...& there's leftovers for another meal. This tray is a good introduction to middle eastern food to people who've never eaten it. That's why I enjoy serving it.. plus it's good! You really won't be disappointed

I got the combination plate which had tons of different meats. I didn't care for the sides or pita bread. The food was ready on time. Food was on the bland side and they need to provided sauces; food was dry. Pita Inn is better but not a bad value.

Better Than Pita Inn! Draw back is there is no real sitting, 10 people will fill the place. The food is excellent and the lunch special M-F is $4.99. Awesome! enough food to take home for dinner.

This place is great for authentic middle eastern food on a budget. From Monday - Friday they have a lunch special until 2pm I think That's cheap and has a little bit of everything in it! And the hummus is great!

The service was good and the food was even better. This place is good for take out. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent food! We've ordered the combo plates a few times and everything's just delicious. Cant complain about the price because its a lot of food, good quality and tasty. To me thats worth any price. Everything tastes fresh. I scarfed down a meat pie while I was waiting, and ended up buying 5 more for the house! Iraqi kabob restaurants in Detroit are very well known for amazing food, glad theres a place like this in Chicago now!

Detroit Kabob House is a newcomer on the Middle Eastern food landscape in the greater Chicagoland area. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. I went for lunch and dinner. They give very generous portions. For newbies, I would recommend getting the lunch combo which satisfies your palate of chicken and beef kabobs, beef shawarma, falafel and chicken shawarma - only $4.99.

We purchased a certificate to this place from Restaurant.com . It's a new place for Middle Eastern food in the area and we were excited to try em out. Well that never happened because as soon as we presented the certificate to the owner he refused to accept it. Really? That's too bad because we frequent Pita Inn, which is very good by the way, but were looking for an alternative. Good food or not we will now never know..

Before it first opened they were giving away samples. And wow, was it good! Even though we live about a block away, we haven't gone back. But we finally did and I got the luncheon special, which was very good. The place is very small but excellent for a "carry-out". Since I work right down the block it was perfect. But I do think it's very expensive except for the luncheon special.

Yes, this is a place that specializes in take-out. But, the food you will take out is wonderful! I ordered the combination for 3, and then decided to add on the vegetarian sampler, just to make sure we had enough food for our family of 4. When I opened the platter, I was amazed at the amount of food! And everything was delicious - very tasty seasoning on the different meats! The stew that accompanied the platter was also very good, and tasted just like the stew my Iraqi friend makes at home. I would definitely recommend this place for take-out! The platter for 3 cost $23.99 and easily fed my family. A great deal for an excellent dinner.

I hate to give a low rating to a mom and pop shop, but the food here left me underwhelmed. I had the combination plate and got a taste of the ground chicken and beef kabobs and gyros...all of it was just not as good as I was expecting, even the rice was dry and tasteless. I did like the side of pickled vegetables. Very limited seating (three tables), this place is mostly for take-out. I have had much better Middle Eastern food, sad to say that Kabob House did not make the cut.

I'm lucky enough to know what homemade Assyrian food tastes like. I'm also lucky enough to live fairly close to Detroit Kabob House. I went there yesterday for the first time. I ordered carry out because I had read other reviews that mentioned how small the dining area is... three tables I believe. I ordered for two people - the chicken kafta plate, a chicken kabob sandwich and a large tabouleh. Everything was delicious and well served. The kafta plate was enough for two people. I can't wait to go back. I will probably add another star once ive tried more of the menu.

Wow, just had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. That lamb shank was to die for. Served with rice and roasted root veggies in a delicious tomato based sauce and there was so much that I've got a healthy lunch left over. Also had the vegetarian plate and the falafel was just right, hummus had a silky texture, and the tabouli was so fresh and bright! Keith enjoyed his chicken kabob tikka. I'll let him leave his own review. The ladies behind the counter were also really nice. Since I got one of the most expensive items on the menu, the check was a bit more than I usually spend on a week night, but it was worth every penny.

I tried Detroit kabob for the first time this weekend. All in all it was pretty good. Quail was cooked really well, but could have used a little more seasoning. Kifta kabob and lamb chops were delish. The falafel fell a little short for me, but the pita is super thin and house made, so that made up for it! My only complaint would be that the tahini sauce was too thin.

Be careful what you order. We came in for lunch and noticed that they had a sign in the window advertising a $5.99 combo plate lunch special from 11 - 3. While we were deciding what to order the man behind the counter suggested that we try a combo and he pointed to a sign for a combo plate. We all decided to get that so we could sample their variety. When we paid the bill was for $11.99 each. When we questioned the bill we were told that the combo plate he pointed to inside was was a "different" combo plate and that one was $11.99. We paid the bill but will never make the mistake of coming here ever again. Clearly this was a blatant example of the old "Bait & Switch" Too bad the food was decent.

Great middle Eastern / Iraqi style food! I checked this place out the other day after seeing this place on Yelp. It also helps that this place is in my neighborhood. Upon entering the place, the first thing you notice is that it's 90% kitchen and 10% seating. Half of the kitchen is a bakery and the other half is prep area and kitchen. So, basically, if you come during busy hours, you'll have to get your stuff to go. I had the combo plate. I must say, all of the meats were absolutely delicious. Far better than Pita Inn or Sultan's. My plate also came with curried cauliflower, yellow rice and pickled carrots and a huge piece of fresh baked flatbread. I realize different regions have different types of flatbread, but this style was thinner and slightly dryer than it's Greek and Syrian cousins. The one thing I really wished they had were bottled hot sauces AND tzatziki or tahini on the table to add to my food. The only sauces that they had were hot sauce and tahini packaged in tiny cups. I asked for two, but I really wished I could've had at least 5-6 cups, or simply a large bottle of hot sauce and tahini for my delicious meal. I'll be back!

I got the lunch combo plate for $5.99. There is just one combo offered for lunch and it's a sampler of all their meats: 2 types of chicken, one beef shawarma and a falafel with a large, thin pita, middle eastern style yellow rice, and tahini and hot sauce cups. It was delicious, but I do think slightly overpriced. At $4.99 it would be more reasonable. Lovely place, small seating area. Stop by the small, iranian? grocery store south of here while you're out.

My family and I occasionally order from here. We usually get the dinner for 5. Everything tastes great, service is good. No complaints. I'd recommend people to try this place for sure.

I had some high hopes when ordering here. Based on the reviews and the sample meals displayed in the case, I was looking forward to a yummy selection of meats. Unfortunately, Detroit kabob missed the mark. We stopped in during the week, placed our order and then sat on one of three available tables. This place is definitely made for take out. The man taking orders was very nice and I liked the diversity of food. Catfish and breaded meats are not usually available at kabob locations. I opted for the dinner combo while my wife went with falafel and hummus. The hummus was not as thick as I usually like it and a bit acidic. I usually like it with more of a garlic taste. The falafel was good and plentiful. My combo looked great in the box, but every meat was bland. The beef koubideh was the best of the bunch by far in terms of seasoning. Everything else was cooked well but completely bland. The rice that came with was fine. I wasn't a fan of the curried veggies either. All in all, it was just ok. The service was good even though it took 15 minutes for our order. The meats are more flavorful at the other similar places in the area, so I'll most likely frequent them instead.

This place has really good food. Ordered the big platter that fed 4 comfortably. Owner was really nice. Quality of meats is actually better than the busy place down the street. Excellent excellent place. Kind of confused about the name of the place but doesnt really matter. Hot sauce was kind of disappointing.

I actually like this place's meat more than nearby Pita Inn. It's weird though as most of the restaurant is the kitchen. There's a small area with 2-3 tables for sitting. Essentially it's mostly a carry-out place.

Yes I gave 5 stars and deal with it. Ok I had food ordered from this place on many occasions and they never failed me or my family NO this is not a place to dine! you get your food and you get out NO keep that tahini for yourself because I hate it over used everywhere like in umm west of Iraq Yes that thinner bread is the way to go but I do wish they use Iraqi Samoon but maybe they do if I ask. Ok next time I will ask Even my picky Persian friend had a sandwich from there and she did like it. just wiki the word Kabab so everything from there is great? probably not but you take the place as is which is for take out

Excellent food and just as good or better as other local Middle Eastern resturants in the area. I always call ahead so my order is ready to go. Seating is limited but I always take my order to go. If you enjoy Middle Easteran food like I do, and I am not Middle Easteran my wife is, you have to give this place a tray, you will not be disappointed.
