Excellent beer selection, great half price burgers on Mondays and love the ever-changing delicious menu! Good service and ambiance.

A really cool place! What a surprise for the area! Have lived near by for over a decade and just recently discovered it. Oysters and calzones are so far my favorite!

The service was terrible and the fact that I ordered a dish and then was told that they were out of it... after waiting 20 minutes to get it, inexcusable. They are a GFZ Posted establishment and should be avoided by all who value their Consitutional Rights.

Hands down the best family restaurant in Mundelein. I live in the city but every time I am out that way I have to stop in to Park Street. The friendly staff is just one of the many reasons I keep coming back, amazing wine and beer selection and the food is just excellent. Not only is the food delicious but the presentation is just beautiful. So if you are ever in the Mundelein area, you have to check out Park Street you will not be disappointed.

Great service, great food, and a wonderful atmospher. Easily the best place to go in mundelein for drinks and/or food or even for an event. Love the outdooor seating in the summertime too! They have great specials and recently started hosting live music periodically which is just an added bonus for me! Highly recommended!

I continue to enjoy Park Street, especially the new half-price appetizer menu! One suggestion though: Please, please, please can we get some draft beer selections that are not IPAs or porters?!? A nice Kolsch, Hefeweizen or Pilsner would be much appreciated.

This place has gone way down hill. When it first opened years back I thought they did a nice job and was a welcome addition to the area. But now it's way overpriced and the food was not good. Our salads came out wrong and the quality was bad. The meals also came out wrong and quality was bad. Since I was facing the kitchen I could see what was going on and it was the fact the kitchen wasn't reading the tickets. To top it off our waitress disappeared through our entire main course. I figure out why when I went to the restroom when I saw here eating her own dinner at at table in the bar. They need to improve the kitchen staff and make their pricing more affordable. I think I will chose other options moving forward.

Best restaurant in Mundelein hands down! A 5 for the staff, the food, and the awesome craft beer! My home away from home. Excellent location and plenty of parking with the lot across the street. Try the cheesy bread sticks! Best in the world.

This place was recommended to me five years ago. If you asked me to review it back then, the service was near to none but the food was great! My review now...service is still the same. Just as another reviewer had mentioned, I was greeted and seated by the bus boy. He was the one who took my order, brought my drink and a basket of bread. He kept looking back at the waitress while he took my order. She seemed not to care that he was "helping" her out. The real waitress came to bring my order. Only then did she say her name and asked if I needed anything else. The bus boy was tagging along behind her and asked if I needed more water. So now I am totally confused. I really want to tip the bus boy but cannot put that on my bill. On to the food...The basket of bread looked good. It was covered in some kind of sweet cream sauce with a hint of pesto and romano cheese sprinkled on top. I expected it to be soft and warm when i cut into it. It was soft but not warm. The sauce was good and wished it was warm too. I ordered soup and and an appetizer. The Tomato Basil soup looked good but tasted more like cream soup with basil noodles. Every time I took a spoonful of soup, a long basil leaf would drag from the spoon and hit my chin. I love tomato basil soup. I was so disappointed by how it was made at this place. This was the worst tomato basil soup I have ever tasted. I then had the Trio appetizer which had three oysters, three bruschettas and calamari. The oysters were covered with melted cheese. It was okay. The bruschetta was made of tomato, onions, basil and cucumber, doused with vinaigrette, and romano cheese sprinkled on top. It did not look like the normal bruschetta i was used to with bright red tomatoes. It looked like the bruschetta was roasted by how dark it looked but it was the vinaigrette. The bruschetta was on a huge piece of bread which looked like 1/4 of a sub sandwich bread. Not what I had expected either. The bread was warm and soft. The calamari had a couple slices of bacon on top, drizzled with the same sweet cream sauce from the bread. The calamari had no taste to it at all. I tried to eat the calamari with the tomato basil soup just to add some sort of taste to it. I guess I was just trying to desperately like the food I ordered. You expect so much from this place just by the ambiance. The service and food just doesn't compare.

Lunch with a group of 8 on 10/24/2013. Parking right on the street or a very close lot. The restaurant was full for lunch but we had a reservation. I had the generously size Brisket Ruben with fries. It was very good. Many in our party and the calzones, which I understood from others in my group who had been there before was a specialty of the house. I would go again but maybe not if was on a schedule. It wasn't fast service though not slow either. We were there about an hour and fifteen minutes, which is on the long side if your trying to have lunch out on a workday.

Loooong overdue!! I've lived in Mundelein for over 8 years and just now decided to step inside of Park Street... What was I waiting for!!!?? Incredible service (thanks, Mike V), great ambience (music playing low in the background), awesome cuisine (if it's not given to you, ask for the bread with a basil cream sauce... And you MUST order the Sizzling Garlic Shrimp w/spicy cream sauce appetizer)!!!! I can NOT WAIT to go back for a full meal... or Tapas Night (Wednesday)!!

My coworker friends and I came in for lunch yesterday. It's a cute place on the inside, however the food was pricey and lackluster. My one friend's crab cake order came out wrong and she said they were not good. Judging by the one she left on her plate, that was obvious. My other friend had the lobster bisque and the stuffed mushrooms. The bisque was too thick and the mushrooms were just "meh". I had the green salad with salmon. The piece of salmon was pretty small and had a bad taste. The greens were fine but only came with two slices of tomato and two slices of cucumber. It was $16! All in all we spent $23 each. Ridiculous and disappointing for such a lackluster lunch.

I was fortunate enough to move within walking distance of Park Street a few months ago. I love the consistency of the food and staff here. It's a refreshingly upscale place for Mundelein. I like that they have rotating menu specials and such, so it's not just the same menu. And I appreciate that their seafood is always fresh and well prepared. Great wine selection too! And definitely try out their tapas nights - I think it's Tuesdays right now.

My family's choices were excellent, very tasty. They had gluten free pasta which I had with chicken. It was good. I like that they had 1/2 plates which gave us a wider range. Service was excellent, atmosphere comfortable.

Today we tried out this new place, and it was so good! Our server, Rebecca was excellent too! We really liked the calamari! Its a must! I had a lamb chop, and my bride thoroughly enjoyed her salmon. I suppose what really got our respect was how the chef paid attention to detail. The presentation was elegant, especially for Mundelein! We will most definitely be back! Thursdays are great there as they have specials.... and then there ARE specials! Yum!

Park Street used to be our restaurant of choice for our anniversary and birthdays. However, after our last two visits, we will be going elsewhere. The quality of the food has really gone downhill and the service is no longer what it was. Every part of our last two experiences was just 'meh.'

I'm not trying to be negative - I genuinely feel compelled to help you save your money. I have never been to an upscale (price) restaurant that had seafood this poor. It was disgusting. Not going for drama here: The only word that comes to mind for the calamari, and the shrimp and scallops is . . . "Nasty". I sent mine back and the waitress was nice enough to offer me something else. What came back would be great . . . in a cheap diner. Not trying to be mean, just have come to expect so much better from restaurants of similar price point and way better food. I won't return. There is plenty of better food, for cheaper, elsewhere.

Some of the best food in the area. Garlic and goat cheese flatbread rocked!!!! Tempura fried crab cakes with shiitake mushrooms were insane. Rolls were good. Salad was ok. Balsamic vinaigrette was great!!! Would go back in a heartbeat!!

When we went there, the waitress was very helpful, the food was amazing, and came out very quickly. However, this may be because it was not very crowded during our visit. A bit expensive, and the menu was a bit confusing, but overall it was absolutely amazing!

We had to been to the Park Street a few years ago and it was great but last night it was a huge disappointment! Our drinks appeared fast but lost our waitress for awhile and could not place our order. When we finally did our dinner arrived after about an hour and a half. I was sitting facing the kitchen and saw two plates sitting on the counter and had a feeling they were my husband and one of our friends. Sure enough the other two meals came out with the two on the counter! I had ordered my lamb chops medium, came out rare, no potatoes, extra veggies. Received the potato and cold squash. The pork chops that had been sitting on the counter were over cooked and cold! My husband and I had to send the meal back which I have never done before and ordered a chopped salad. The manager was apologetic and said it was busy and he was trying to correct the problem in the kitchen but I do see from other reviews it has been a problem for a while. Will not be returning, to many other great restaurants in the area! I gave this 2 stars only because we had a good time with our friends!

Park Street has a diverse seafood menu, compared to other restaurants in the area. Went on a Friday night and both the dining and bar areas were full, but not overly crowded. Nice wine, beer, and martini list and several on special. We ordered our drinks and the bread offered was topped with a warm butter/pesto spread/sauce that was very good. Started the meal with the small plate appetizer of tomato and mozzarella over a bed of greens. The balsamic and capers sauce was good, but a little vinegar-y. However, it was a more-filling portion of appetizer than I've gotten at other restaurants. For my entree, I ordered the appetizer of mussels in red sauce. The portion of this appetizer could have easily passed for an entree, and it had just the right amount of spicy-ness to add a little zing to the seafood. Very good and would recommend it. Their menu is a variety of American/Grill/Italian dishes, attractively presented and filling. This would be a good place to take a date, celebrate a birthday, or enjoy a more than casual dinner. Oh, and their apple torte was De-lish-ous!

First time to Park Street and will definitely be back! Had the wolf fish and it was delicious. My friend really enjoyed the shrimp and scallops. We loved the warm soft rolls and the sweet basil sauce was outstanding. Our server was also great. She was attentive but did not hover and was knowledgable about the menu. Overall we had a great experience!

I was just at Park Street for a Jaycees event, it was awesome! We had a wine and cheese tasting - EXCELLENT place to have such an event. The manager was really welcoming and hand selected 4 wines to sample.

What a disappointment. Got the special, and it was substandard, at best. Atmosphere was good, but you have to have decent food to go with it. Waitress was never around and went the entire meal without them even checking and and without a drink. My husbands rigatoni was good, my "special" totally sucked. Service stunk. Don't bother,

One thing I love about sales is always being in new places and getting to try out new restaurants. Was in the area yesterday and read great reviews so figured this would be a perfect lunch spot. My experience at Park Street was negative from the beginning. I understand it was 12:30 and peak lunch time, but I stood up front for a few minutes before I was even greeted (which was by the bus boy) and taken to a table, where I waited another few minutes hoping for my server to show up. Eventually the bus boy brought me out an iced tea and a menu, and when the server FINALLY showed up she seemed irritated that I hadn't completely made up my mind. Put in my order for the tomato basil soup and the half chopped salad, and she said she would bring me out bread (which never came). 10 minutes later, she came back to me and asked what I had ordered. Seriously? I finally got my food--which is the only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one. The soup was great (but then again how can anything with cream as the main ingredient NOT taste good?) The chopped was generously loaded with goodies. The crispy bacon added the perfect crunch and it wasn't doused in dressing like some places do. Perfect portions for lunch, and everything was fresh. Back to the service- Not once did the server check in with me during my meal. At one point I asked her politely for bread, and she came back with a pepper grinder. I asked for my check and realized she had charged me twice for the soup, and when i asked her to fix it she seemed irritated with ME for her mistakes. Maybe i'm being too harsh, but bad service topped off with being treated like an inconvenience is not something that makes me want to go back to a place, even if the food is pretty good. My recommendation--talk to your staff about how to treat customers. Getting your bill tossed onto the table and mumbling a sarcastic "thank you" in passing isn't going to make customers feel like they're appreciated. I think that this place has a lot potential, but as of now if is the gem spot of Mundelein then I feel sorry for the locals!

I ordered the flatbread with garlic and goat cheese. What I got was pizza with no sauce and diced tomatoes. Wha? Not one speck of goat cheese or garlic. Why didnt I complain? Because I was entertaining a client and didn't want to cause a scene. My companions seemed to like their fish tacos and cubano. My meal, clearly, sucked and I will likely never go back.

This is a great restaurant; I'd give it 5 stars wherever it was located, and its all the better that such a great find is in downtown Mundelein. The ambiance is excellent, exposed brick and a mix of high tables and more intimate 4 tops make for an upscale semi-casual atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor seating and seating at the bar. They have an excellent lineup of craft beers with all the usual suspects, plus a few happy surprises. They have about 10 different craft beers on draught. I did not get a chance to look at the wine list, but did note that the wine bottles are kept in the antique wall safe in one of the dining rooms. For dinner, they have a long list of burgers and fancy grilled cheese sandwiches for $10.99 each. The grilled cheese sammiches come with an absolutely delish bowl (not cup) of creamy tomato basil soup. The burgers and sammiches also come with your choice of homemade kettle chips or fries. The chips are great, but would benefit from more salt. They also serve calzones (a big hit) and have a good variety of salads, in both side and dinner portion sizes. I grant that these are not traditional dinner items, but the portion size is hearty, and I think it is great to go to a restaurant this nice and get a main course for only $10 or so. It is true that they have a relatively short list of traditional entrees, but one of my companions was very happy with a salad and an appetizer of crab cakes as her entree. Additionally, they have about 1/2 dozen seafood choices at any given time. Years ago I had one of the best fish entrees ever (in parchment) at Park Street. When we went they served warm rolls topped with a sweet basil butter that was really unique and delightful. I imagine that is a limited time offering over the summer, so if you are on the fence re: Park Street, now is the time.

This place has great food. I have never been disappointed with anything that I have had here. The place is not loud, so it is a nice place to relax during lunch. Recommend: Chicken Flautas

This was our second visit to Park Street and we left disappointed. We each ordered full size chopped salads and based on the size were glad we didn't order just the half portion. There was hardly any chicken or bacon in the salads but plenty of onion. For $13 you can go to Portillas for a better salad or even CA Pizza Kitchen for a more filling half salad. The busboy was more attentive than the waitress and we had to wait for the correct salad dressing for one of the salads. For Mundelein, we felt $32 for two meager salads and ice teas was overpriced.

Park Street is outstanding! I've eaten here a few times. The first time my wife and I went I had a calzone that was incredible. And, it was large enough for 2 meals. The next time we went I had a salmon dish that was cooked perfectly. Not dried out like most places. My wife can't seem to stray from a great Italian basic of sausage and peppers. Maybe she'll let me try her dish in the future. This is a great place to go for great food!

I have been to Park Street twice for two very different reasons (though both for dinner). In the first case it was suggested as a meeting place for dinner by some colleagues. In the second, it was with a good friend of mine for a nice dinner using a Restaurant.com coupon. My first visit was rather forgettable, not because the food wasn't good, but because I wasn't prepared for the expense of the menu. It is not a cheap place, and your most economical dinner options are either a burger or one of their flatbreads. On mt first visit I ordered the burger, which was good and served on a wonderful pretzel roll bun. But because I was unprepared for the cost of the night out, I left feeling like it was a high quality place, but unlikely that I would return because of the costs. $11-$12 for a burger and fries is a little high in my estimation. I decided to go again because I found a coupon on Restaurant.com , so given the discount I thought I would try it with a friend who was in town who I wanted to take to a nice meal. I had my concerns because of my first experience, but because of the mindset I was in when I went the second time, my experience was completely different. I ordered their Ribeye steak ($28) along with a half size chopped salad $5. My friend ordered one of their burgers and an excellent beer that I can't remember the name of. We were both completely pleased with our meals. The food came quickly, and the service was great; everyone from the two hosts to our waitress, to the bus boys were pleasant. The chopped salad was a nice surprise in both portion size and quality. My steak was one of the best I've had. Subtly seasoned and wonderfully juicy, and even the two shrimp on top were memorably tasty. Extra points for lovely presentation, as well. We topped it off with the creme brule dessert which was very good (although I like my creme brule with fresh fruit). I easily had enough leftovers for another meal the following evening at home (which reheated quite nicely) I often find the reviews on yelp to be misleading since people tend to review only if they've had a fantastically great or fantastically bad experience, and often after only one visit to the restaurant. Had I done that in this case, I would have given it likely 3 stars. While I would probably give it 4.5 now, I'm willing to round up for the fact that, although without a coupon (and Restaurant.com no longer has it listed, unfortunately) it's rather out of my meager budget so I will not be going back soon, I had no doubts on the quality of my food, nor the quality of the service I received. For a nice evening meal, without the hoity toitiness of some places, Park Street is a gem in the Mundelein area.

Just came home VERY disappointed and still have bad aftertaste from the food I had. It was my second time visiting this place. The first time was a couple years ago - bad impression but not as disappointed as today. I decided to check it out again today thinking maybe they have improved since the last time -WRONG. It was a big mistake. I'm not sure if it was very noisy because of Saturday but we barely could have a conversation. My food was a complete waste. I ordered Cedar Plank Salmon. It was burned. The plate was arranged strangely - they put plank on top of sides and when I tried to move plank the burned pieces of wood mixed with the sides. I was waiting for waitress to show my plate to her but she never stopped at our table. Our food was not delivered by waitress, but by someone else. I suspect she knew it was wrong and that is why she never came to ask how it was. When she finally came to pick up our plates I told her about my bad dish thinking that they would pay more attention and somebody else will not waste his money like I did. The dish cost $19. And it was a very small piece of salmon. My husband ordered portabella burger, and my son had chicken medallions (also $19!!!). Their food was just Ok, nothing special. The only good thing was the beer. I live in Mundelein and it's a shame we don't have a decent restaurant over here. I definitely will not come back soon. Maybe will check it out again in couple years when my bad memory fades out and if they are still in business.

Went there on a recent Saturday night and this restaurant has many issues. Yes the decor is nice but the service is atrocious. It was also very noisy and our table was ignored due to a large birthday party. The restaurant is well under-staffed, no one at the hostess stand. Had a 7:30pm reservation and didn't get our first drink until well after 8:15pm. Appetizer of stuffed mushrooms well undercooked - sent back. Then it got worse. Our food did not arrive until 8:55 and all we ordered was spaghetti for our daughter and two filets. The filets were cold and the crabmeat was inedible. We sent both dishes pack, asked for a bill for the kids meal and our drinks. Yes I appreciated the manager or chef coming to discuss this with us and comping our meal, but I honestly will never step foot in here again. Clearly there are management and kitchen issues. Save yourself the disappointment we had, there are way better options all over Lake County.

If you're looking for food prepared by a real chef as opposed to a cook, Park Street is your place. Their menu offers a wide selection of food from hearty sandwhiches to cooking show entrees, plated with style. They have excellent specials that change frequently as well. The only drawback to park street is that they haven't changed their plating in the 8 years I've been coming here. Cherry tomatoes with balsamic glaze and parmesan was good, but a change would spice it up a bit.

Nice little restaurant in downtown Mundelein. Nothing particularly remarkable about the menu but they have a good selection of fish, chicken, and steak. The exposed brick wall, hanging art, and tin ceiling give the place a nice ambience but it gets too loud when it's crowded. Reasonably priced.

My husband & I love this place for cocktails & apps. The have a realty nice selection of wine & craft beers & the bar tender is VERY helpful. We always go for the charbroiled oysters because they are so fresh & tasty. This is by far one of the best places to eat in Mundelein.

This place is not consistent especially for the price in mundelein. I have tried the calamari for the second time now and it's not edible. Super chewy and kind of gross. I had parmesan crusted tilapia and risotto that was cooked perfectly. Dessert trio was just okay. I like how they have half price wine glasses on Thursdays.

Took the family - party of 8 on Christmas Eve and unfortunately for a place with mid to high medium pricing this place was a disappointment. From the Calamari being soggy with an unrecognizable sauce to my KC Veal Chop which came out after most others finished their dinner and the topping was outside of offering a salad during my wait - no attempt was made to comp anything for this $400 dinner. Let's just say it was memorable.

Tried Park Street again after a long hiatus. Big mistake. Spent the evening very ill. Who makes stroganoff with gobs of cheese? That's all I ate, aside from the bad dinner rolls and green creamy sauce that goes with them. So their food handling procedures for those items is severely lacking. Also saw three dishes returned to the kitchen from the other 15 dinners around us.

I came here on a Friday night, sat outside because the weather was fantasic and had a great experience. I highly recommend this place and to sit outside if possible, it is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Mundelein-- you shouldn't pass up on this place. To start, we ordered lobster bruschetta which was relatively small, but was a great light fresh start to the meal. The cucumber, lobster and avocado worked well together and the jalapenos added just the right amount of heat. I also had a cup of beer cheese cream soup with chicken and sausage (a special for the night we were there). Although it didn't have quite enough meat for my taste, if you are a fan of beer and cheese this is a can't miss for you. For dinner we ordered coriander crusted tuna (with risotto and asparagus) and fish tacos. The fish tacos were alright, could have used more fish but still got the job done. The tuna was excellent, well prepared with a great crust to provide a needed texture for the dish. The risotto and balsamic asparargus was also fantastic. If this special is still offered when you come, I absolutely recommend it! Overall, this is a place that everyone in the Lake County area should give a try. You won't be disappointed!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here tonight and was very happy with the food and service. I had the herb crusted chicken, which was really good, and my husband had the filet. Our server (I forgot her name) was new and let us know right away that she was in training. I was a little worried about that, but her service was excellent. She checked on us several times to make sure everything was ok and to see if we needed anything. We have no complaints at all and would highly recommend this restaurant. And to top it all off, we were able to use an Entertainment coupon and my meal was free!!

A friend had Park Street cater an office event and was so impressed with their food that she suggested we go there for lunch. So a weeks ago that's what we did. They weren't busy at all when we got there. An older slender tall woman who was the hostess had seated us right away. She was also our waitress. She was not very friendly and appeared to be in a bad mood. It was apparent that she did not want to be there. She never returned the entire time while we were eating. We finally waived her down and asked for to go containers. The soup cup that she brought was DIRTY!! Both the lid and cup had red sauce all over it. When she returned with the check, we asked for another one after telling her that the one she brought was dirty. She looked annoyed and walked away. Minutes later she returned with the SAME cup!! Are you kidding me?? No thanks....... We will not be returning!! Very disappointing, especially because the food was pretty good. Bad dining experience.

Oh my God. I've eaten here several times over the years but didn't take the time to review until tonight. The tenderloin stroganoff and salmon over risotto was out of this world. The ambiance here is always good...and the basil butter for the bread is super cool and different. Mundelein is a small town but this is big time flavor!

My wife and I have been going to this place for years. A couple of years ago, the menu and staff changed and things seemed to go down a bit. We stopped going for awhile and decided to give them another try last year. Things seemed to have improved so we have been going back periodically. Went in for dinner tonight and it was a complete disappointment. It took an hour to get our food and my order was wrong when it arrived. Waitress offered to let me order something else, but I was not willing to wait another hour to get fed. After that, she went out of her way to avoid me while my wife ate her dinner. We had to request to see the manager, and when he came out he was very apologetic. He took my meal off the bill, but did not offer to anything else. He made excuses about things being busier than expected (it's Friday night!) and problems with the way people were being seated. Complete swing and miss. Don't waste your time and money at this place!

Went last week. Was solo and ordered a tapas item which was bland and warm but not hot temp wise. Salmon was very good so made up for the tapas. Overall average, price is kinda high with sub par service. How many times does one ask for water before giving up said request?

Disappointing...Not sure if we just came on a bad night?? Cajun meatloaf was dry, overpowered with spice. Mushroom sauce tasted like it came out of a can- served luke warm. Best part was the veggies but the serving was so small it was more of garnish. I very rarely leave food on my plate and can tolerate just about anything but a couple of bites was all I could handle. It appears the rest in my group had a similar experience- This was the last meal before a diet was to begin for my friend and the one positive is that her diet began early. No doggie bags for us! It is a shame to waste food but with the exception of my wifes salad- inedible. Place is cute, host and server were good.

I went in with low expectations based on a few of the reviews on here, but I went away pleased for the most part. The place was very crowded at 8pm, something I didn't expect, so I decided to go and eat on the patio. This was my mistake, since it was still a bit sweltering outside, and I really shouldn't blame the waitresses for not coming out more often to check on drinks and my meal progress as the night went on, but I do a little. Twice my waitress came out to see if water and the bread had been brought out to me, but they hadn't after being seated 15 minutes earlier. With as hot as it was at 8, I would've thought water wouldn't have been too much to ask. The water and bread finally arrived. The water was good, the bread not so much. It looked as though it had a pesto-parmesan sauce topping it with some more parmesan dusted on top, but it was very sweet. Not sure if that was the bread itself, or the sauce, but it was kind of weird. Ordered the cajun meatloaf, since I like things that are spicy. My experience was not like other diners who have chosen the same thing: the meatloaf was moist, cajun food is supposed to be overly spicy, so I wasn't surprised about that (boy was it good tasting spice-wise), and the mushrooms in my sauce were freshly cut and cooked. I thought the sauce choice was weird when I read the description, but it balanced out the spices, cutting down their impact on the tongue without cutting out the flavor. I had also wanted to order the stuffed mushrooms, but they were out of the button mushrooms and my waitress asked if I would like to substitute the crab-stuffed portabello from their Wednesday night tapas menu. Now, substituting when a restaurant is out of something to me means at the same price as the original, since the restaurant is out of something and failed to mention it upon ordering, but apparently this is not the procedure at Park Street. Oh well, guess I've been spoiled before. The replacement mushroom was good, but all I could really taste of the stuffing was the cheese and spinach--no crab flavor to be found. It was tasty, but not good enough for an additional $2.50 over what I'd originally chosen. So my experience was probably negatively influenced by the temperature and the fact that they were out of a key appetizer, but I'll probably go again and sample a few more of their wares. The beer selection was very decent, and I did enjoy the two beers I drank--one a draft from a New York microbrewery, and one from the local Tighthead microbrewery. The cost is a little on the high side as a few commenters have also noted, but not necessarily as exorbitant as some similar places in downtown Chicago are.

I'll start off saying that my food was good both times I've been here, and I did order the same Cuban Sandwich both times. The reason for the 2/5 star relating is because of consistent mistakes both times and lack of decent service. Here is the quick story: I dined here for lunch both times for a company occasion. Each time our group included folks who are vegetarian. Each time their order was messed up. The first time a gentleman who ordered a veggie burger received an actual hamburger patty, and the second time another co-worker's vegetarian calzone went to someone else at the table by mistake, and he received a similar order to his own, but with chicken. Upon realizing that our co-worker had meat on his plate, we called the waitress (owner?) who looked at his plate and checked that it was in fact meat (minus one star) and then upon realization that his and another person's plates were switched on delivery, looked like she wanted to just switch them (even though we were at least a quarter of the way into the meal 8-|) I actually had to say "He needs a fresh one" to get her to bring a new one (minus second star). And finally she NEVER APOLOGIZED!!! Minus third star! Sorry Park Street, neither your food nor your price points are good enough for you to be taking it easy like that. Wake up and smell the competition around you!

I have come here with vendors for lunch several times, and always liked it a lot (for lunch food). But, since I only work in the area, I never thought about dinner, until tonight. Two dishes you need to get. Butter Garlic Wood Roasted Oysters Ravioli De Mare Order it, love it and thank me. Seriously.... One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Planning on adding this to the hidden gems list in the Mundelein/Libertyville area.

Possibly the best continental cuisine in Lake County. With hard floors, metal ceiling, and tight tables, the place gets very conversation-challenged on the weekends. Try it mid-week if you want to hear your companions.

Park Street is probably the nicest restaurant in Mundelein. Unfortunately, that is not saying much. The atmosphere is 5/5, the food is 3/5. I gave it 3 stars based on the food vs. price. I had the mixed grill, which was very good, but it was very expensive. The others in my party were also not very satisfied with their meals. The food was good, but for the price they are charging, the food should blow your mind. The menu was lacking, there were no real vegetarian options. The menu contained all the same old stuff you can get just about anywhere. Unless you want to stay close to home, I recommend driving to one of the other nearby suburbs for food that is just as good, but for less money.

Have loved this place for years. a hidden gem as others have said. would have rated it higherbut for our last visit. Food is great (Unfortunate experience with a well done filet that had been ordered medium rare). Service is good (Wiatress didn't bother to ask how my stake was) Prices have gotten high. Not the value it used to be. Fish dishes good. If you want a steak probably should stick with Wildfire or Ruths Chris, the prices aren't that much higher.

This is by far the best restaurant you'll find in Mundelein. It has a classy urban vibe inside, a great outdoor patio, and the food is very, very good. We've only had problems with one slow server, the rest have been great. Pricewise it's probably about the same as going to one of the chains, but the food and atmosphere are so much better.

Being a local I really had hoped to give a better review. Especially since I have another Groupon to use there and my profile pic is really me. Sadly I just can't do it. Two stars is being very fair. The Food: Me and my daughter went here for a late (2:30) Friday lunch and both ordered burgers. ($10.99 each and no soup or salad) Hers was the Portabella Burger on a pretzel roll. Not bad. The mushroom was the star for sure. The garlic mayo was not fresh and becoming translucent quickly so she was glad it came on the side and could be skipped. Neither of us was asked how we wanted the meat prepared so it came a little too pink for her taste. We are not usually burger people except at home on our own grill so it didn't register to be proactive and order it to our likeness. She ate hers anyway. Mine was a standard Patty Melt. A staple of my youth. Tasted like every other one I've eaten which is to say, greasy and delicious. They come with chips or fries and we both ordered fries. The are the thin sliced skin on type. Pretty regular. I prefer them thicker. I also ordered Chicken Rice soup which was $4.99 and just a cupfull.. However, it was the best part of the meal by far. Had some kick and lots of chunks of grilled white meat chicken. A little carrot and celery lotsa rice and flavor. My decision to get the soup was based on the "bread basket" that was delivered to our table. It contained two rock hard rolls and a little cup o' butter. They were pre-cut so my daughter tried to eat one but it hurt her mouth. Soaked in the soup they were great. The Service: Just God-awful. If I didn't have a Groupon or had been there with my far less understanding sister we would have walked out or at least spoken to a Mgr. before we left. The waitress was nice enough but we waited forever to get menus. Then to get my soup. Our entrees came up fairly quickly once after that but mine was wrong. I was served the chips (not good) instead of the fries which only came after we were essentially done eating and I reminded the waitress. Then they were obviously refried to the point of being inedible. Dry and hollow and just really bad. So she redid them. And I ate my fries after the table had been cleared and I guess because I used a Groupon she didn't even comp my soup. My tea was good but was only refilled once by a bus boy and once by the waitress who forgot what I had and put water in my glass. And there was only one other table there the entire time we dined!! And they were done eating and just chit-chatting until two of them ordered a dessert to share. And there was at least three other staff members in the joint besides our waitress although I only saw the third one at the end and very briefly so maybe he was a delivery guy. The Restaurant: Very pleasing to the eye. Cozy and inviting with two rooms of tables and chairs seperated by a decent bar. Exposed brick and tin ceiling tiles. Bookshelves using old doorknobs to hold actual books. They have a patio area too. I just wish the food was as good as the place looked! Also as many have mentioned the prices are insane for this area and the quality. So here's the deal - We have an excellent place down the road (Elly's) with a great staff (they only treat each other like dirt and mostly behing the scenes) and awesome food for a WHOLE lot less. The problem is that they close at 4:00pm and their place doesn't make you feel all fancy with exposed brick and candlelight and such. So if you're a pretentious ass or care more about the ambience than the food or a regular joe(sephine) on a romantic date and too into the other person to care about the food/service go to Park Street but don't propose there or anything because it can't survive long in this area of non-pretentious hardworking folks who don't have money to burn so you won't be able to return every year and relive the moment. Oh, and get the Chicken Rice soup if they got it!

I've been to Park Street a few times before today's visit and I've always gone with the "Create your own Calzone" deal. The calzones are huge! You can easily satisfy your famished state with half & save the other for dinner. ;) Today, I ventured off path and tried the Chicken Parmesan. Mistake! Other Chicken Parmesan dishes I've tried usually include one, if not two, large, hearty chicken breasts that are breaded to that nice crunchiness and doused with melted Parm. In Park Street's version, it was like a tiny breast that was sliced in half to give you the illusion that there were two. And they served it in one of those huge bowls except they only filled the bowl half way. Not a good look. At least they were able to save themselves with the tasty Lobster Bisque before the fiasco. Without that, it would've been a lost cause. BOTTOM LINE: Stick to creating your own calzone at this joint. The service was lack-luster. I had to ask two different people three times for water before finally being serviced. We sat right by the kitchen so I know they saw my empty glass with every passing glance. Come on now! Would I come back here? Meh...flip a coin.

Very good meal, excellent service. We had dinner at Park Street Friday night for the first time. Calamari very nice and the garlic and bacon sauce made for an interesting presentation and taste option. I had the Cajun meatloaf, very good and not overly spiced. My partner had a scallop pasta dish that was very good as well. Mike our server was exceptional. Attentive, helpful, and listened. Will give this place another try very soon.

It's nice to have casual conversation while you eat, but it's hard to do at Park Street because you're too busy enjoying their delicious food to bother talking. Even if you happen to find a few seconds in between bites, you'll probably fill the gap by sipping one of their great tap beers (Brother Thelonious, Cane & Ebel, etc...) The leg of lamb I had was excellent, and not ridiculously priced. The atmosphere is relaxed and the waitstaff is pleasant. It may be hidden, but it's always on my radar (ZING!)

Park Street is one of those great, semi-hidden places in Mundelein. As others have mentioned menu is not too remarkable (your fairly standard Italian fare), but the food is amazing! The waitstaff is very nice and the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere that makes it perfect for date-night.

When we went there, the waitress was very helpful, the food was amazing, and came out very quickly. However, this may be because it was not very crowded during our visit. A bit expensive, and the menu was a bit confusing, but overall it was absolutely amazing!

Oh my God. I've eaten here several times over the years but didn't take the time to review until tonight. The tenderloin stroganoff and salmon over risotto was out of this world. The ambiance here is always good...and the basil butter for the bread is super cool and different. Mundelein is a small town but this is big time flavor!

When we went there, the waitress was very helpful, the food was amazing, and came out very quickly. However, this may be because it was not very crowded during our visit. A bit expensive, and the menu was a bit confusing, but overall it was absolutely amazing!

  • Damian S.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
