The best diner this side of Plainfield. Try their Kayana (Greek) Omelette, extra big, with egg whites. Also solid is an off-menu burrito that's only made after 8pm if the owner's son, Steve, is around: Flat-iron beans, onions, cheddar jack and sour cream; no secret ingredients, just solid eats.

This is a great diner to fuel up at if you're on the go, but that's pretty much it. My order was lacking the bananas I was promised, but still good. I would return.

Mostly, I have good things to say about this restaurant. They serve breakfast all day and their staff is very friendly. The manager (owner?) was present and made sure to ask how I liked the food (I said it was fine) and thank you for coming/hope to see you again. Nice staff is very important to me,and this restaurant gets 5 stars for that. I ordered an omelet with feta cheese, spinach, tomato, and ... crab. I was surprised to see crab and decided to go for it! I also ordered hash browns. The hash browns were nice and crispy how they should be. The omelet was very big and had plenty of all the ingredients. Here is the problem; the crab meat was imitation crab meat! If you've ever had it, you know how the texture is and it was quite awful to have this in an omelet. I think if they're going to use imitation crab meat, they should indicate that on the menu! I was feeling pretty sick that day and wanted to eat and get out of there, so I just ate it. Bottom Line: This restaurant has your standard diner food and an excellent staff. Stay away from the crab unless you enjoy imitation crab meat!

Boyfriend and I are on the road to a wedding in Central Illinois. In need nourishment, we pull off the highway to discover DINER NIRVANA. Seriously. Morris Diner & Pancake House is where all other good, little diners hope to go when they die. Heaven with a short-order cook... and breakfast served all day! MD&PH oozes diner-charm. Cozy booths, green and pink rose-print fabrics, porcelain rooster figurines, and a carnation on every table. I knew I was falling in love before I even placed my order. For lunch, I went with a short stack (three) of the Sweet Dark Cherry Pancakes and a side of bacon. (Helena's Foodie Tip #87 - if breakfast is served all day, go with it! Pancakes are timeless). Boyfriend had the "Black Russian" sandwich (a roast beef and corned beef medley, of sorts). We were completely unprepared for how many sides came with his meal. Between the two of us, we had more food that we could ever consume. We started with the split-pea soup (free with his sandwich!), and it was quite delicious. Once my pancakes arrived, I left him to his own devices and concentrated on my mound of breakfast wonder. They were incredible - light and fluffy with just the right amount of tart cherry topping. I eventually had to cover my food with my napkin to stave off a self-induced food coma. Our server was an absolute peach. I could hear her interact with other clients and it was clear that MD&PH draws a loyal, regular crowd. Heck, if I lived in the area I'd be back time and again for more of those cherry pancakes.

Good for breakfast when you wake up on a Sunday and don't feel like making it yourself. Only problem is that a lot of people in Morris tend to wake up on Sundays with that very idea. Hmm.. go figure. And check it out the next Sunday, or any day, you are in Morris and in the mood for a cheap breakfast.

Real food (so takes a couple of extra minutes) and friendly. Just off I-80 and a great alternative to the chains.

This is a great find! Excellent food, friendly staff, and great prices!!! The servings are huge for such a low price. I don't know how they can serve all you can eat walleye, cod, chicken and meat loaf for under $12, but that works well with me. I would highly recommend the fried chicken, walleye, cod, ribs, cream of chicken and rice soup, and the cabbage soup. The wife and I were trading food because it was so good, she has to try it (and vice versa).

Pretty much what you'd expect a diner to look like, with better food than you'd expect. Definitely get pancakes. It doesn't matter which variation you choose, they're all fantastic! Service is good, everyone is really friendly.

The place was clean I will give it that, I stopped in and they seat you, well the guy at the door was not at the top of his game, he acted like I had nothing better to do in life but stand in his doorway and wait for him to shuffle papers. I got the Denver omelet, it was fair but not good, the serving was the smallest I have ever been served, but the toast was buttered well. The waitress was very nice, I bet she came to my table at least five times to tell me my food was coming, The last time she walked up, I said yes I know my food is coming! The place was not horrible, but I won't be a repeat customer.

They do DINER food very well. The service is always polite and efficient. One of the best things about the menu is that you can order a "smaller portion" version of many dishes. Smaller price as well! Daily specials menu is HUGE (and delicious)! One of my favorites: The Black Russian - Corned beef; roast beef; cheese on dark rye toast. Your choice of sides. We live 25 miles from The Diner, but it's worth the trip!

On the way to Starved Rock, this was maybe a halfway / two thirds of the way point from the City of Chicago. It was a cute place, full of locals that served a pretty standard breakfast you often get in any "mom and pop" place. Food was good and the service was fast and friendly. Easy access off the highway and plenty of parking in the private lot!

Large menu, good service. We had breakfast most servings were large, "heavy" food lots of carbs, typical diner food with a Greek influence. The restaurant was clean but worn in some areas. We saw two groups of local regulars, who appear to meet for breakfast and coffee, so it has a homey feel.

Typical Greek restaurant. Food was great. Service was friendly and efficient. Coffee cup was never empty.

What a gem! The food here is outstanding. It is Diner food but better. The sweet and sour cabbage soup is awesome. Their gyros are the best in the area and they give you more than one pita can handle! I always order an extra pita so I can bring home the left overs and make another whole gyro. The prices are very reasonable too. The last time I went I had the chicken De Jong with linguine Alfredo as a side. It was delicious! They always give you more than you can eat and the leftovers are yummy. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

We waited over 10 minutes for service and food took another half hour. We only ordered breakfast. Not that good. Ordered the chorizo wrap for my hubby and he got sick. Stay away from this place.

This place is horrible. In town on business went with a coworker of mine and was treated like crap. Waited 15min. For our order to be taken and another 15min or the waitress To fling the menu at us on her way walking past as she mentioned they ran out of salmon so we had I order something else. No apology, didn't stop long enough for a response, just kept going. She came back and said "what do you want?" VERY RUDE. The story is much longer but to make it short I had literally 2mins to eat, asked for a box, went to pay the check. I told the manager it was horrible and explained what happened, she said that the waitress was very busy and that she's actually the best waitress they have. I said busy isn't an excuse, if he can't handle it she shouldn't be here and if she's your best Id hate to see what your worst looks like. She said I'm sorry you had a bad experience, I said if you were really sorry, you wouldn't be making excuses for your sorry employees. NEVER AGAIN!

Second time here. Terrible, won't be back! Didn't know you could screw up French toast.

Good food, a much better alternative to the fast food chains around the area, very pleasantly surprised! Menus are nice because they have pictures---and what you order looks just like the pic in the menu.

Huge portions of delicious breakfast food. I have never had a bad breakfast or brunch here! It's basically just classic diner food, but it is done right. Way better than iHop for sure.

If you know and enjoy the Chicago area Greek owned and operated restaurants this is one of those places. Somehow some way they make everything good. Once I saw the older Greek gentleman at the door I was pleased and confident that I would have a very good dinner. It was starting with a bowl of home made beef barley soup. The penne pasta dinner with a chicken breast garlic, red peppers and a tomato sauce had all the good flavors. The portion was very generous. As a result I could not get to my desert of pie or cake which they gladly wrapped to go. Everything was included and their prices are competitive.

We're not from this area and have been on the road for the past 3 hours. I had to pee and I needed biscuits and gravy like you wouldn't believe. In comes this diner and it was everything we needed. It's your basic run of the mill family dinner. The wallpaper and decorations haven't been changed in years but that's part of the charm I guess. Hello nostalgia. I had the Grandma's Treat- 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon and 2 biscuits and gravy. For $4.99 it was amazing. Nothing special but for the price, it was good. Our server was friendly and polite. Overall, when you're on the road and need biscuits and gravy this is where you need to be.

Nice service and a huge menu! Had the Saganaki for an appetizer. For dinner I had the Morris burger (mushrooms, bacon, cheese and peppers.) dee-lish!

We stopped on our way back to Nebraska from Chicago. This place has great food, large portions and excellent staff. It may have dated decor but was very clean.

We were looking for somewhere to eat while traveling while towing our boat. There was enough room to park and we like trying local restaurants. We had French toast and the all you can eat cod. Both were very good. The waitress was awesome. Everyone was very friendly and Steve, the owner is very funny. We will be back!

This place really hit the spot. I wish there were more of these type of restaurants along the highways instead of the usual chains. The gals that work there are all very attentive and by no means short in supply. The best part of my breakfast was the sliced and fried potatoes. I could sit there and eat them all day!

First we waited a very long time just to be seated. waited even longer to get our order taken. The guy at the register is man-handeling a waitress and me and my husband were very put off. we ended up taking our order to go. Our server seemed nice "Glenda?" just very busy. Find out the guy at the register is their manager. Will not go back. very poorly ran business and that manager treats their staff and customers like garbage!
