My strip steak was done right for me. Plenty of salt/pepper(standard), rare+, western atmosphere. Beer selection okay, could've been better.

The music do was really good. No croutons at the salad bar, raw scallops and halibut, slow service, disgusting diet coke in the drinks. No one ate more than a couple bites.

Service was as slow as molasses. My dad's fish was raw. My pulled bbq pork had no sauce and yet was so soggy I couldn't pick up the sandwich. My mom's chicken parmesan was flavorless.

Wasn't all that impressed .Steaks were 27 - 30+ dollars drinks were small. Really for the money and quantity go to Texas Roadhouse you get more for cheaper price , and taste great! I will not go back to Montana jacks.

Where to begin, I'll start at the end. Save your money, go to McDonalds like we did. Food was inedible, service was ghastly. They said they'd take off one of our meals, but the only took off a part of the meal. Really, the fish was raw?! Then they gave us a $7 coupon to return, why would we even if we lived in town. The manager never came to the table, waited over 30 minutes for the check. Avoid this place at all costs!

Okay. It's my first time here, first time to Moline. I gotta say, these people here made me feel like family! I was traveling to the area for business, staying at one of the nearby hotels. I saw that this was only 3 stars, so I was concerned. I needn't have been. Eating alone, I sat at the bar. Miranda, the bartender, was excellent with just the perfect amount of spunk! She treated me well all night, as myself and a group of other locals and business ended up closing the bar down at 10:30 (she let ya stay an hour after closing!) Kind of a diner atmosphere, with nothing too fancy. The meat is good, and expectantly high prided. I got a $28 Delmonico cut steak, which was perfect. The baked sweet potato was incredible too. All in all, excellent experience and service paired with excellent food equals 5 stars. I highly recommend eating here, that is if you enjoy chatting it up with the locals and the excellent wait staff.

Never going back. A live mouse jumped off the ledge at the ceiling level and died by our booth. .wouldn't give any stars

Very mixed reviews here. I read many of them, and for some reason felt the need to see for myself. I often disagree with what I read. I'm on the "road", staying near airport. This place is very nearby. Ok... First off, I had a very nice experience with the wait staff... no issues at all. I could care less about the decor. I just wanted a good midwest steak. Had the salad bar. I agree with much that I read... pretty wilted. The soup at the salad bar however, was pretty good. Then had the "Cowboy" steak (just under $30).... 1/2" thick? Seriously?? Don't see how this could have been near 20 oz. The flavor was pretty good, but the quality was not at all. Now just as a base of reference, I think Outback has really good steaks. I have been to many very upscale steak houses as well. I am trying to be fair here. In town for 4 days. Hope there is better offerings around

Interesting place. Mixed reviews but was staying at the LaQuinta Inn next door without a vehicle so choices were limited to this or McDonalds. I thought a burger sounded fantastic but they don't serve burgers from 5:00 - 9:00 PM on Fridays or Saturdays. What?? I don't know if this is a ploy to get folks to buy more expensive items or what, but it seems to me that those would be peak hours. I ended up going for a steak since nothing else really sounded good. Steak was cooked well but was a little under-seasoned and broccoli was okay. The salad bar left a lot to be desired. $20+ for an okay meal. It wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. I can't really imagine that they keep a ton of regular customers, probably travelers passing through as I did. Keep your expectations low and you'll have a decent meal.

I worked here for a while and have been fantasizing about the food ever since I moved to Philadelphia. The Filet and Delmonico are my favorite cuts of steak. Try the coconut shrimp and sweet potato fries as well!

Well for what my options are for the situation is. I'll do my best. Montana Mike's is your typical 1980s steak house. It has the cheesy western decor. Log cabin look on inside with animal heads on wall and arrows and other Indian stuff. Realy tired looking. Needs to be updated. They have a bar with what looks like a good selection of spirits. The salad bar is real lame. Not much if a selection. Old looking and not to appealing. The appetizers are typical choices of frozen fried foods. The entrees are a little high price, but not really good and not horribly awful. All pasta dishes are Alfredo no tomato based sauces. Steaks are of a good quality cooked well. They have a variety of other menu items. Dinners include salad bar bread and a vegetable or starch. The staff is friendly with their t shirts and distressed straw cowboy hats With an update of decor and a fresh menu this place would be a good choice for your dining dollar.

Mom and Pop Golden Coral taste. Steak not seasoned, service slow, and salad bar salads taste pre-made from a factory.

Good ribs good service, down home decor. Good salad bar. Nothing real special just good food and service.

The service was adequate and that is the best I can say. The place smelled bad and was dingy. We ordered an appetizer - spinach/artichoke dip - and it came out with overly greasy bread and mixed with blue cheese??? So disgusting. The rest of the meal was barely edible and was way overpriced for the quality. Will definitely NOT be going back!

We've been here twice in the past couple of months. The salad bar is very good. The first time I had a ribeye and it was just okay...not flavorful at all and extra fatty compared to most ribeyes I have had elsewhere. The 2nd trip last weekend was very disappointing. I ordered the prime rib, which was so bland and tough. I'm a big prime rib fan and this was the worst I've ever had. Probably won't return. Only gave it two stars because of the salad bar...otherwise it would have just been 1 star.

My husband and I were in town and found Montana Jacks by chance. The atmosphere was old fashioned steakhouse which was nice, the service was great and the food was excellent. My husband has a pasta dish which he enjoyed very much and I had the special which was salmon on pasta with peppers, crabmeat and shrimp. It was cooked perfectly and there was plenty to take home. What topped it off was the singing guitar player. He played nice easy music and not too loud. It was very out of the ordinary which was special to us. Would definitely go back!

My husband and I come her from time to time, usually a good meal. Tonight, not so good. Our appetizer came out after our meal, my deep fried shrimp was straight out of the freezer into the fryer. My husbands steak was very good. Maybe an off night for the chef, we will try again Total experience disappointing .

It's okay. Very close to my hotel and for that reason alone, I'd come here again if traveling. Salad bar is mediocre (potato salad tastes weird), ribs were nothing special, bread and strawberry butter was delicious. Service was fine. Not bad overall but definitely forgettable.

I have frequented Montana Jack's Steakhouse on numerous occasions and it's always been a positive experience...until tonight. I can honestly say, I have never been treated with such distain and disrespect at a restaurant in all of my life. It was borderline harassment when all was said and done. The first problem I encountered was when I ordered a house salad instead of the salad bar. My server replied "it may be a while" with a bit of an attitude. I said, that's fine. I also ordered a delmonico steak (which is a ribeye for anyone not familiar). The steak came out and I looked at it thinking, I don't recall a delmonico looking like this but then I thought maybe I'm just being picky so I didn't say anything. I started eating the steak and about 1/3 of the way through I really was thinking this is not a delmonico steak. So I took a picture of it and sent it to my boyfriend because he used to be a meat cutter and is very versed in what each cut of meat looks like. He immediately told me there's no way that's a delmonico, it's a top round sirloin steak. So when the waitress comes by I tell her that I don't think it's a delmonico and she says, no that's a delmonico and I said no it's not. Explaining that I sent a picture to my boyfriend who was a meat cutter. The server takes my steak back to the kitchen and the next thing I know the bartender brings the steak back to my table. She tells me that she showed it to the cook and said he showed her where he just cut the steak off and that it is a delmonico. I didn't say much and stopped eating the rest of my meal to consult with my boyfiend. We both agreed that this was just not a delmonico steak. There is just a big difference in what a delmonico looks and tastes like; there's also a big difference in the price. So I pushed the steak away and sat there. No waitress for awhile. Eventually the bartender came back over and asked me if I wanted a box. I said, no, this is not a delmonico steak and I do not want to pay for a delmonico steak. She tells me she'll have to call the owner then because I ate "half" of the steak and if I hadn't eaten the steak it wouldn't be an issue. OK, it wasn't half the steak but who wants to split hairs. After a few minutes she comes back and tells me the best the owner can do is take off half of the price of the steak and then proceeds to tell me I am never to come back to the restaurant. I said, trust me, I will never come back here again. I have given you a lot of business to be treated like this. Then she comes back with my check and says, I have another message for you. She says, if you ever step one foot on this property again we will have you arrested. I looked at her and told her they were crazy. I am still in shock that I was just threatened like that in a restaurant where I am a paying customer. Apparently I caught them in the act of trying to pass off cheaper cuts of meat as higher priced cuts of meat and they didn't care for it very much. Buyer beware.

Service wasn't bad but not great. Food was very good however the salad bar was lacking and needed to be refilled all evening which never happened. If staying at the La Quinta nxt door bring your room key for a free beer.

The waitress was nice? That's all I can say about this place that's nice. When I have to go to Moline for work (four times last month) this and the McDonald's on the other side of the hotel I have to stay are the only places close by to eat. Neither one was good. I'll have to bring food from home for next time!

We used to go to MJ's a lot, but stopped going because it seems too hit-or-miss. For steaks, they're pretty good. I've had everything from an "excellent" to a "pretty decent" steak here. The other entrees I've had have been kind of disappointing. Their salad bar is pretty good, and as mentioned previously, their ranch dressing is delicious! I don't know if I'm ashamed or in a weird way proud to say that we have gone to MJ's before just to have a salad with the ranch dressing. The decor is definitely "lodge-like." Exposed beams and taxidermy abound. Seems a bit too forced to me, but I'm not one to knock a place due to the decor. I feel like the way the staff has to dress is kind of demeaning - it's hard to have a serious conversion with a 25-year-old dressed up like a cowboy.

Great value if want a good meal at a fair price in Moline IL. I had the Bones & Bird combo ( half rack of ribs & bbq half chicken breast). Chicken was just okay but ribs were meaty and delicious. Atmosphere was definitely down home but salad bar and tasty warm loaf of bread was included. We were too full for dessert but took along a slice of double chocolate cheesecake for later. Yum!

Walleye Fish fry was really good. Fried oysters were really good with not a lot of filler crust. Salad bar was tacky but worked. Service was good, attentive and friendly.

Excellent trout, excellent steaks. Added bonuses are the decent salad bar, and warm bread. I even give them points for the flavored butters even though it wasn't my thing. I went twice and sat with fellow business travellers (near the airport) as well as locals at the bar. Nice crowd and engaging bartenders. Even the chef came out after his shift and regaled me on how we shouldn't eat at chains and how they have unique and concsientious purchasing. Dafe

Went to the restaurant for the first time today. We ordered drinks and I had to stop her from leaving since I wanted an appetizer. The meal was served with a loaf of "fresh" bread that was very dry and stale. The waitress was very pushy. She returned every couple of minutes to get our order while she saw we were discussing the menu between the members of our party and prior to the appetizer being brought to the table. We placed our order prior to the delivery of the appetizer. The appetizer was delivered to the table after we went to the salad bar. I ordered the oven baked pork chops. My wife and daughter ordered a steak to split. We were advised that there was a $7.50 splitting fee. That was very high for a trip to the salad bar and a potato. The ribeye steak was great (I ate the left overs). However, the oven baked pork chops were nothing like the menu described . The chops were heavily breaded and covered in a brown gravy. There was a layer of grease between the breading and the meat. The meat was over done and dry. The gravy tasted like it was from a can. The waitress did not return to the table to ask about the meal.

Things started off pretty well. Dining alone, I sat at the bar. A very cute and slightly flirtatious bartender was tending to mostly business guys dining and drinking alone. She made a great martini. The salad bar was okay - not great, but acceptable. My main complaint was with the entree I ordered, Baked Pork Chops. They arrived coated in a soggy breading, dripping in what tasted like a packaged pork gravy. Maybe I missed this in the description, but I am on wheat restricted diet, and so am pretty careful about absorbing the menu item description, and I'll ask for modifications when necessary. Had I known, I would have asked them to leave off the breading and at most, serve the gravy on the side. I thought about sending it back but I was hungry and just didn't want to go through the hassle, but it sort of ticked me off this wasn't made clear. This menu item should be called "Breaded Pork Chops and Gravy" because that's what you'll get.

To call this restaurant rustic is an understatement. Everyone working is wearing a cowboy hat, a six shooter, and a holster. Having said that, the meal wasn't too bad. I ordered a ribeye med. rare along with skillet potatoes. The dinner included a salad bar. The salad was fine, there weren't a lot of toppings for an actual salad, there were more choices along the lines of cottage cheese, pasta salad, pea salad, etc. The steak was cooked to the proper temp and really had a nice flavor. The potatoes were heavily seasoned and had tasty onions and peppers to add to the flavor. The price was quite reasonable. If you're looking for a high end steak house, keep looking. If you're interested in a reasonable value in an inelegant atmosphere, you may enjoy Montana Jacks.

My son and his date as well as several of his friends and their dates went here for homecoming. He came home and said "I will never go THERE again." He wished they had choosen another place. The food was not great but the rude waitress was even worse. SHe came to the table and said "thanks a lot now you kids made that couple leave because you were throwing spit balls." Now I must say that he said no one was throwing spitballs and knowing the group I highly doubt they were especially all dressed up with dates. Perhaps a bunch of guys but even then I hardly think so. She automatically assumed that because they were kids they were guilty. Those kids worked hard to get the money to pay for the evening and to have that kind of memory because of a rotten waitress and less than average food is pretty pathetic. We won't be going there and will will be sure that no one we know chooses it especially for a special event. Consider that offending young people you are also offending their parents. There money is as good as older adults. My son has been eating in restaurants literally since he was a baby and he has always been well mannered. Perhaps the waitress should work on her manners and remember she is in a service business regardless of age.

Excellent service, the campfire potatoes were great. Very enjoyable. My son said the walleye dinner was a little suspect. We thought the prices were fair. Very nice salad bar.

Mostly agree with JW's review. Full-bar with a good selection of beer, wine and liquor. Friendly and sharp bartender. Salad bar sucks. Steaks are good-- above average but not spectacular-- everything else I've had on the menu, though, is pretty hit-or-miss, so go with the steak.

I would not eat here again if they were giving their food away for free. I've given this place 3 chances, first visit years ago was about a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. Second visit a year later was a 3, with a poorly cooked and really poor quality steak and bad service. I left feeling ripped off. Third visit was a minus 5. As in really, really bad. I left frustrated, disgusted, and ripped off. Service took maybe 15 min to come to table after we sat down, despite the fact that the place was nearly deserted. Ridiculous outfits on waitresses and cheesy outdated decor. This place is screaming for a visit from "Restaurant Impossible" I ordered Trout Almondine despite the waitress being utterly clueless about how it was prepared...didn't even know whether it was baked or fried. After waiting over 40 min in a not busy restaurant for the food to arrive (and never saw waitress after she took order. She vanished completely and I couldn't even find out what the hold up was) she finally plopped our food on the table without a word about the extremely long wait. The trout looked in edible before I touched it. Barely done in middle and singed on edges. The did was completely cold. And the "Almondine" consisted of some cold almond slices tossed on top of the cold soggy fish. Others had steak that was nothing great, and our vegetables were clearly straight out of a can, complete with water. Nothing was even warm, let alone hot. A horrible place that only a masochist would enjoy. Pathetic.
