Oh man, I remember the days of Checkers back in my highschool years of 1995-1999. Yes, I'm old, but I remember their fries were awesome. I was pretty sad when they started shuttering the Checkers around Chicago, and could only satisfy my Checkers fries craving when I'm out of state and where "Checkers" was called "Rallys" Anyways, was I über-excited to see a Checkers on the way home from a Yelp Elite event! The general manager there was SUPER nice and she informed us that Checkers is coming back, especially on the South Side of Chicago. We ordered the fries and a couple of ice cream sundaes. I got a simple hamburger as well, to bring my taste buds down nostalgia lane. The french fries were as awesome as I remember it, but the hamburger was kind of dry. The ice cream was delicious! Overall, great experience, that brought back memories of my high school days, minus the wedgies.

Stopped in after a visit to Brookfield Zoo. I was so excited to see a Checkers again! The food was decent, but it's nothing like the old Checkers I was used to. Service was slow, tables needed to be wiped down and we couldn't find napkins anywhere in the eating area. There aren't a lot of tables and the dining area just seems ..... incomplete somehow.

I don't even know what happened to this joint. It used to be the best and now you get dried out chicken fingers and over cooked fries. Down the hill you go.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! If you go here expecting to get the same kind of Checkers you were able to get years ago you will be VERY sadly mistaken. If I could give zero stars I would. Let me run you through my bad decision in order for you (whomever decides to read this) to understabd why you should never go here. The drive threw lady was hacking up a lung when we were trying to order. However, excited about experiencing Checkers again made me rationalize, "well she won't be the one touching my food." I ordered the Buffalo shrimp and spicy chicken sandwich. The bag was handed to me with buffalo finger prints and sticky. At this point I should of handed the food back and asked for my money back but I was starving. Also the total was 12.71, I handed her a 20 and received 13 even back. I decided to eat the chicken sandwich which I opened and saw it was a processed patty the size of a new borns palm. I ate it, regret it, and will never be back and I hope you all learn from my mistake.

This particular Checkers resembles the chow hall of a federal prison. Staff is unfriendly. Every table was coated in a layer of grime. The toilet was 50% caked on urine. I don't know how urine cakes on, but I assure you I was completely lucid.

The manager Kayne is one of the most passive managers I have ever seen he takes no authority whatsoever and lets his crew run him he is in no way shape or form responsible for his store he needs a complete 180 in personality to learn how to run a store this is a manager that will not survive the world is a buffet and poor suckers like this guy are starving to death he is at best a cook and the only only a cook he sees nothing wrong with his hourly staff arguing with customers he refuses to have a customer enjoy themselves when they come to his restaurant I have been here numerous times because once I complain enough and the food is right it actually tastes pretty good I'm roughly an old dog I order the same exact things with very little variation every time I come in the same staff is there each time yet they can't seem to either remember or figure out how to do my order with my order being the same thing you would think repetition would kick in and they will get it right but that hasn't occurred yet each and every time I come in there the hourly staff that makes mc minimum wage pass the whine and complain because they are too lazy to please the customer I guess you really can't expect much from people that make minimum wage because that's about all they will be making for the rest of their life it is very very shameful coming to this restaurant especially with the background that I've had in the restaurant business the district manager seems nice enough but I don't believe his choice as manager of this restaurant is correct he will be directed to this review and I hope he learns from his past experience not to allow somebody who will not stand up and take charge run his store because this is only costing him customers reputation and money all I can do is wish for the best because if he doesn't change his situation it will never change

These burgers are really similar to Wendy's in my opinion. I really like the fries, they're crunchy, spicy, great when they're hot. One time I had these loaded cheddar ranch fries and I'm 97% sure bacon was in the mix. They were magical. But everything else here seems to be average.

For fast food I've always liked Checker's or in some states Rally's burgers and fries. They make their fries with a little more crunch and seasoning than some other fast food places. The burgers are always pretty good with what I would call a not too processed taste to them. It's not the most sought out place but for me I like them.

My wife suggested we try the new Checkers off the highway - sounds great! The location is pretty convenient but tough with 1st avenue traffic, so weekends can be tough to get in depending on where you're coming from. The food was pretty good - no major complaints and in fact was a bit better than I expected . The service has a ways to go though. The staff doesn't seem well trained - whether the front of house person taking the order or the person (people?) making the order. I had to take 2 orders back because they were special orders and not made correctly and it was SLOW. The floor behind the counter was greasy and it just seemed like they are still figuring out how to operate a fast food restaurant.

Gross. Cold food. Not a single person in the drive thru yet had a long wait and food wasn't even warm. Not as great as I remember it being. Too bad. I really used to like their chocolate shakes. Now they taste just like the frostys at Wendy's. Don't waste your time or money. Staff wasn't friendly either. I can't see this place lasting.
