Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Under new ownership, Burger King is better than ever. The interior has been remodeled and Free Refills on drinks for dine-in customers.

I have always liked this place growing up. I make a pilgrimage at least once a year. It is a bit pricey for how much food you get, but the food is decent. They have recently remodeled, and it looks 10x better than it used to. They have great shakes, and the burgers are good. The patties are very thin, but I'm sure the calories are still present. If you are in the area, it would be a crime not to visit the original Burger King.

I had to wait 30 minutes for a fast food burger that was greasy and just thrown together. The fries are amazing but it's not worth the high price and the high wait times for an alleged "fast" food place.

Been coming here since as long as i can remember. Its my favorite lunch spot, double cheeseburger fries and the best ice cream in town!

Went through the drive thru a few weeks ago and ordered a medium lemon cone and a large order of fries. The cone was huge, no complaints there, but the fries were awful! It tasted like they had been over cooked, set out for a few hours, then thrown back in the fryer. I couldn't eat them because they hurt my teeth! My husband wouldn't even eat them.

paper thin overpriced burgers. They used to have really good crinkle cut fries but now they have the nasty coated fries that too many other places are using these days. If you want a paper thin burger for a better deal hit up Culvers OR if you're desperate go to Steak n Shake or Freddys but that place is more expensive than steak n Shake and you have to do all the work yourself.

Pretty much your average small town drive-in style fast food. I haven't had much off their menu, but their double cheeseburgers are really good. Not a fan of their french fries. Everything else I've had is standard greasy fare from a mass distributor.

Yes, the Original Burger King is in Mattoon! The things that folks from Mattoon love about Burger King are: Vanilla Cokes, Eyeballs on your Ice Cream Cone, Crispy Edged Hamburger Patties, Vinegar for your fries, Lemon cones and for your Number to be Called that your order is ready.

  • Leslie S.

As the lady in line in front of me said, "If you've never eaten here before, you have to get the double cheeseburger!" Which we did. Awesome. It has that perfect balance of juicy diner burger with the grilled crispy-ish edges and melting cheese. I also had the mushrooms, and those were pretty darn good, too. They don't serve them with any dipping sauce, but just ask for a packet of ranch dressing, and they're quick to oblige. I'm from St. Louis, and they remind me of our Carl's Drive-In burgers. We now eat at this Burger King every time we're in Mattoon.

This is it for me--hamburger Mecca. Not to be confused with Burger King, the chain, Mattoon's The Burger King is a completely seperate entity (establish first) and has no relation or resemblance--and its hamburgers put the chain's charbroiled slabs of meat to shame. Here is the home of thin, greasy hamburgers and amazing crunchy french fries worth driving miles and miles for. I usually get a double cheese and top it off with a hand-made cherry Coke or if I'm really indulging, a chocolate cherry Coke (yes, they MAKE their own). The food is relatively cheap, the building is the original diner-style, there's a jukebox, and the nasally guy calling out your numbers make this the ultimate nostalgia trip for those remembering the good old days of big cars, big tunes, and savory fast food. Sure, you'll probably earn a coronary from a meal there, but it's oh-so worth it. The ice cream and shakes are also well worth diving into, but I'm usually so full from my burger and fries, I don't partake in it. A vanilla shake is a great treat in the afternoon just by itself.

THE ORIGINAL BURGER KING! Besides Villa, this is the other place to be when you are in Mattoon (or so the locals tell me). I'll take the burgers and fries here any day over the chain restaurant. The burger was tasty and the fries were crispy! I think the fries must have been coated in something to make them extra delicious. They also have an assorted array of desserts...which I will try next time I stop by.

Best Milk Shake I have ever had. The burger was very good. The meat patties are thin so double is more like a regular patty. Great fries as well.

Great chicken strips and excellent shakes and malts! Good burgers and overall a step up from everyday fast food.

I'd give Burger King five stars but I'm not a fan of the new fries. Burgers and ice cream rock!

I am from Mattoon and whenever I visit or take one of my friends home, we always go to Burger King to eat. Where else can you get a Hooter that is so greasy good. (Oh never mind) The fries are really good and one of the best items is the delicious lemon ice cream. Whenever you are in Mattoon you need to stop by the original Burger King and get a Hooter.

Their burgers are great and I love their onion rings. This is a good old fashioned 'Hamburger Joint', don't expect fine dining here, it's all about the burgers.

  • Kwoky L.

Well well, the original Burger King was not what I expected at all. The famous Hooter is just an over priced quarter pounder with lettuce and tomato. I had that and a root beer float but it was just OK. The fries, on the other hand though, are really good. I can't get enough of it! I love malt vinegar on my fries and they are strong enough to withstand the vinegar and not get soggy. Very impressive indeed. 2.5 stars overall. Besides that, there's nothing famous really. I would go to here than the fast food chain though.

This is actually the original Burger King. It was around before the fast food chain and apparently inspired it. They have some agreement i guess that they wont sue over the name as long as they stay out of Mattoon. Their burgers must be good because everyone talked about them while we were in town. (Yes, i am a vegetarian, so we didn't go there for a meal.) We did however break my drive-thru rule (no drive-thrus please) and got hot fudge milk shakes which were wonderful. If you are a burger and shake person, and find your self in the area for some reason, it is worth a stop.

The one, the only, the original - The Burger King! There is a reason you won't find the Burger King chain within 20 miles of Mattoon. It is because the original Burger King started in Mattoon and Gene Hoots wasn't going to take the $10,000 offer from the Burger King to let them come into the area. It is a fascinating case that law students still study to this day. My Mom worked here as a teenager, so when we were in town for a family reunion we had to stop by for lunch. I was pleased to see Gene Hoots still working (this was in 2014) - I should have gone up and said hi, but he had gone back into the kitchen when we were leaving. The food was fresh, delicious and perfectly prepared and the customer service was excellent! I wish we lived closer so that we could come in more often. If you find yourself in Mattoon, you need to check out this place!

I was very disappointed in the longevity of my waiting period, and I was denied happy hour prices although I was in the restaurant long before it ended. The milkshake was pretty good though.

Thought I was going to a franchise and low and behold, it is the original location... Sandwiches were excellent!

This is the burger place that time forgot. We didn't go here a lot when I lived in Mattoon, because the wife likes to eat healthy. If you haven't read up on the story of the battle with the Burger King chain, I suggest you do. The atmosphere of this place was always awesome to me. It's that style of diner/restaurant where you here a guy barking out orders and numbers, the sizzle of the grill, and the grease-infused walls and booths bathed in dim lighting. Fast food burgers made the way they were when fast food began. Nothing seems fake or glossed over. Probably not the best burger you will eat, but it is worth 4 stars for the experience alone.
