The food is just okay. Wasn't expecting "authentic" and it isn't, but overall it's just okay. Everything is a bit bland. Chips okay (lack seasoning); salsa just okay (lacks seasoning) - it's a salsa fresca (aka pico de gallo) - would have preferred a chile-based salsa. Tacos al pastor lacked seasoning. (Please! What's with the dearth of salt?) The tortillas used could be of better quality and thinner, since they'll be doubled for service. The rice was okay. The beans were the best thing on the plate though, unsurprisingly, needed salt. Good house margaritas. Excellent service at the bar. Nicely laid out place. Nice patio. Food needs improvement.

We have always enjoyed the food here, but the service is terribly inconsistent. When they're busy, the service seems better! The past three times we went, the service was very poor. Recently, we left before ordering anything. We waited for 20 minutes and a server never even came to take our drink order. On the plus side, the bus boy was very nice and offered to bring us chips -- unfortunately he "couldn't" bring us glasses of water because according to him he wasn't our server. He was polite, and when we left the hostess was likewise polite and apologetic. She also didn't charge us for the basket of chips we ate. I hope to go back because the food has always been pretty good, but I'm going to give them a few months to sort out their service deficiencies.

Don't know if the 4th star is particularly worthy, but my 2nd experience here (this time for dinner) was much better. I do love the chips and salsa and this time I had the chicken flautas and they were very tasty, albeit a little burnt. My husband had the steak fajitas and loved them. Not the best Mexican food Ive ever had, but absolutely not the worst either. Service has been very good both times also.

I love their patio. They have great entertainment and on Wednesday's during the summer Lemont has a classic car show downtown. I take my 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and have dinner on the patio. I love the shrimp. I always order something with shrimp. My favorite is the fajitas. Their Mexican pizza is good also but order it without the salsa if you want the crust crispier. Their Guacamole is the best I've ever had as well as the Sangria. For the price of the food and drinks you can't go wrong.

Just a slightly better than Taco Bell or Speedway gas station. I honestly don't see the appeal. An American attempt at Mexican food. Epic fail

Stopped in just to pass the time while waiting for another place in town to open. They do have a nice patio area but it is on the west side of the building, total sun, just an FYI for summer. We sat indoors near the bar and a door that obviously opens, but it was closed on the day we were here. There was a funky, musty smell in that corner. We only had drinks and chips and salsa so that was fine. Nothing outstanding, LOTS of staff running around. There is a lower area at the end of the bar but we tried to sit there and the regular chairs were too low for comfort so I think this might be one of those misses for seating. Can't address the dining area since we stayed only in the bar area.

This was our first time here and it was great. The salsa is delish. Very fresh and the chips are homemade! The Tortilla soup was rich and flavorful. The only bad thing was it came out with dinner. The fajitas were sizzling and flavorful. Tacos yummy and burrito was good too. The meals came with rice and beans. We will be back for sure.

Let me begin by saying that I can not attest to the food at Front Street. I can tell you that the bar tending is top notch! The atmosphere is very welcoming and clean. In the warmer months they have live music outside at times. The bartenders, Sarah and Nichole, are always quick and efficient, and, at the same time, very friendly and welcoming. If you're on the fence about paying Front Street a visit for a drink, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Sat outside great day, frigging gnats were bad tho! Food was amazing and I eat Mexican all the time! Service was good, I will go back for sure

I absolutely LOVE coming here! Not only is the food always consistently excellent and fresh, the Manager and I think owner (Amy) always makes sure that we are happy! I could sit here for days eating the queso, salsa and guac! The chips are always fresh and unlimited while dining in! Seriously the Best! My ABSOLUTE favorite thing to get is the Fajitas. Always fresh and the steak is always tender, never chewy and seasoned to perfection! Oh not to mention the beer selection and spacious outdoor seating. I can not wait to come here again as it is by far the BEST Mexican food and service around! Thank you for always making it a great experience for us!! In the mean time I will be dreaming of lap pools filled with the queso, salsa and quac assisted with a sky high pile of fresh perfect chips

Last fall my grandsons Christening party was held at Front Street Cantina in Lemont. I cannot say enough great things about the manager who handled it all for us. The food, the servers and so many of the guests talked about how they couldn't wait to visit again. They set up a special buffet with excellent entree's and sides and kept it full so nothing ran out. We are definitely going to have my older grandsons graduation there without a doubt. Thank you again for making it a very special and wonderful experience.

They make a really good sangria here. Most places make a fruit juice drink with a splash of wine. Just the opposite here. Really hits the spot on a hot day. It's right off the I & M Canal Trail so it's a nice stop on a bike ride.

Love this place!!! The food is served fast and it's so good! Love everything I've had there. Charmaine and Darci are super friendly servers, and give great recommendations on what to try! Right now my favorite item is the portobello enchilada.....YUM!!!

Where do I begin! This place is top notch all around... Facility is spotless and there is always ample tables and employees. You never have to wait long before your pleasantly greeted. We love sitting outside when the weather permits since the tables are spread out. I'm a big fan of the chicken & steak fajitas but I don't start there. Their queso fundido is some of the best I've ever had. We drive from Chicago just to get our fill! Just writing this review makes my mouth water. To wash it all down, their margaritas strongly poured and always made to order which I appreciate - there's nothing worst than a premixed margarita. We've gone about a dozen times in the last year and it just simply isn't enough. Every time we come, Amy (appears she runs the show there) treats us like family. This place has it all: from live music to an endless beer selection, perfectly cooked/seasoned authentic Mexican flavors and to top it all off, wonderful servers and staff. PS. MAKE SURE YOU GET A CHANCE TO TRY THIS INSANELY GOOD FOOD AND MEET AMY - SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER MEET!!!!!

I don't feel the food is authentic. The guacamole is not too bad but I still have other places I would go to waaaay before I would go here again.

It took a while to get service, but the nachos kicked ass. I'd go back.

The food is soo good! The service was great! Kelly answered all my questions i needed! My favorite dish is the pedro pollo! Soo tastful! I really enjoyed the atmosphere! I will definitely be back! Thanks again!

I love coming here for margaritas and guacamole! I am a vegetarian and there are a lot of delicious options for me. My favorite things to eat here are the quesadillas, enchiladas, and anything with the portobello mushrooms. Many of their servers are great, but if Darci is there I'll ways ask for her, she's fantastic!

Good margaritas and food. We were pleasantly surprised! Loved the chille relenos. Would highly recommend.

They advertise this place as " Authentic Mexican Food " ... Personally it didn't come close, with its boxed rice and flavorless beans. Flour tortillas are the norm for their dishes, corn is the Mexican standard. Atmosphere was nice, very clean. Staff was very attentive and polite.... This was at Saturday noon time for lunch. We won't be back.. Moving on to find that Authentic food.

I have given this place the last chance. The food is so bland and I have tried many of their dishes over the past 2 years. Some basic seasoning would go along way. We stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening and we could barely hear our conversation due to the open microphone night. Service was just ok. I wanted so badly for this place to be good but it really needs a lot of help. Might be a good opportunity for Restaurant Impossible!

It's nice in the summer because you can eat outside and they also have music. The food is ok but it's not authentic. The service is good.

Very pleasant dining on the patio (they do have a shady area). The fact that dogs are welcomed and even served water is a good reason to go there in itself. It's more enjoyable knowing Fido isn't locked in his cage. Food was better than expected going by some of the reviews. I had shrimp tacos and specified what I wanted on them. I got just that and they were pretty good. I was told the fresh ahi tuna salad was quite good as well. If you're expecting authentic Mexican it's not that. If you would like better than Chipotle, Pepe's and the like you will be happy with the fare here. Wine list is more extensive than you would expect and mojitos aren't bad either.

  • Tim B.

The food is really good. Unfortunately that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. I'm at a loss of words to describe how incompetent the staff is here. I ordered a Margarita and they botched it up. Twice. I feel sorry for the cooks, because they are the only ones here that know what they are doing. If you're in the area and can eat somewhere else I recommend making this a last resort.

Funny thing--since this place had only a 2.5 star rating at the time of dining, I wasn't planning on coming here anytime soon. But when my sister-in-law wondered if there was somewhere in Lemont where our party of 4+baby could dine al fresco, the memory that came to mind was of driving past the people happily clinking their drinks at Front Street Cantina. Plus, I think our friendly upstairs neighbor works here in the kitchen. Turns out we had a really pleasant Sunday evening dining experience. They'd just wrapped up their open mic thing (something like 6-8pm on Sundays?), and we were readily hosted at the outdoor table of our choice. Service was pretty good -- it took them a little longer than ideal for our food to come out, but they didn't mind getting us an extra basket of chips and salsa or two to tide us over. Ice water was refilled readily. Food: my wife's chili was pretty spicy, but a good-sized bowl with great flavor for $5. I had probably among the best fish taco's that I've had; probably have the guacamole sauce to thank for that. And my bro/sis-in-law seemed to enjoy their meals, as well. Their baby daughter liked when the christmas/string/fairy lights came on around us. Minus .5 points for the server not asking me if I wanted my tacos soft- or crunchy-shelled, but we'll round up. Maybe she had something on her mind.

I visit this restaurant often. Adam usually takes care of us and does a great job. The place is spotless and the food is always consistently good. They have a wide variety of drink choices and the patio is always a good option for the warmer months. Good food, great service, great restaurant.

My wife and I have been to this location several times, and not only is the food fresh and tasty, but the service and atmosphere is also second to none. My wife doesn't really like Mexican food that well, so when she lets me, we always go here.

  • Spencer S.

I eat here frequently for lunch and am never disappointed, though I will admit, I more or less get the same couple of things every time. There are two dishes that I really like at Front Street, the steak campos tacos and the chili (which they give free bowls of during Bears games). I also occasionally go there for their fajita Thursday special, but it really is a lot of food and I can't finish it. I've also never had any incidents of bad service there even once in the many, many times I've been there. Front Street's management goes to great lengths to keep their beer offerings current as well. They rotate their offerings frequently to feature interesting and local craft beers. I'm pretty sure some of the lower reviews they've received on here were when they first opened (when every restaurant goes through growing pains) or just isolated incidents and/or bad blood between a worker and patron (this really does happen, especially in a small town like Lemont).

This place is awesome. I dont know what the other reviewers are even THINKING. The food is great, the bar atmosphere is incredible and the service is GREAT for a common bar/grill type place. The head bus boy? He works so freaking hard and cleans the tables so fast. The sweet little brunette waitress? She is amazing. The chips and salsa... the spicy salsa....AMAZING. The female staff is hot too!! Whoever doesn't like this place doesn't like a good time and I MEAN this. The beer is good and cheap and the shots are priced well and the bar staff is lively. I go there to have a good meal and get a bit tipsy and it does the job. This is probably one of the best places to eat in Lemont. When you go to front street you should go in expecting It is equivalent of like a PEPE's except it is waaaaay better then PEPE's. You do not go there expecting authentic food. Go there expecting Pepe's and you will be blown away.

Good if you want bland hospital grade food that's called Mexican. Calling this place Mexican is a disservice. It's loud, service is sub par and the food is bland. Go to el burrito junior instead for takeout. Food there is ok but is consistent.

This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time. It started out promising, and it looked like this was a good place to watch a Saturday afternoon Hawks game. Let me start by saying the manager was very nice and apologetic for all our issues and the meal was on the house. Every thing we ordered was wrong, it started with the cocktails and continued with the meal where things were completely wrong, redone, and wrong again. The waiter then argued with us, stating that was how we asked for it. I asked for a second beer and when it came it was not what I was drinking, and when I inquired I was told it was my brand. I then asked another waiter who informed me the keg had run out of my beer and they had no more. So I guess they were just attempting to slip it by me and lie. I really wanted to like this place since my daughter live down the street and this would be a great place to meet for lunch. If the service was this bad and the food was good I may have given it another try, but the food was terrible also. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else.

Good stuff and a friendly environment. Tried the fajita sandwich. It was very good. They also had Modello on special and great bloody Mary's. I will definitely be back.

I was really excited to have a local Mexican restaurant in Lemont and I really wanted to like it. I love Mexican food. The wife and I gave this place a try 3 times. The first time, the food was ok. I thought perhaps it was just the meal I ordered. (Although I got a combo plate.) Then the second time I tried something different and I was starting to wonder if it was everything on a whole/ that didn't appeal to me. So I gave the place one last chance and that was the end of it. It was really not good at all. Nothing seemed close to authentic at all/ It all seemed very bland and just thrown together. I had some strange unknown spices that did not work well together. I was very disappointed to say the least. As was the wife. Unfortunately we won't be going back.

I was here last week for dinner. The menu was big and the had a lot of options to choose from. I ordered carne asade pizza from the specials menu. It was ok but nothing special. The chips and salsa were ok. A couple of the other people in my group order fajitas which looked good. Maybe it would have been the better option. All in all not a horrible experience just not sure if I would return.

My friends and I were just here a couple weekends ago. We had SO much fun! : D We got a HUGE blue drink and spent the night filling the building with our giggles. Our bartender was super fun too : ) She came and sat with us for a while and we all became instant best friends : ) Come here and eat their chips, order delicious food and tip the servers heavily because they will treat you very well : )

"Mexican" restaurant complete with spinach, olives, mushrooms, bright yellow cheese and everything else "Mexican" you can think of. As a Mexican-American, I felt insulted to be in this place but I didn't go on my own free will (boss' choice). The waiter filled my boss' ice tea cup with coke instead of a refill. The food was subpar and EXPENSIVE. I can't get over how outrageously overpriced this "Mexican" food was. No surprise, they were really into Cinco de Mayo...

I don't know what these reviews are talking about. The first time I came here I got the shrimp fajitas. They were amazing. They are full of flavor and enough food to eat for lunch the next day. My husband got the chicken fajitas. Every time we come back we try to order something different but the fajitas are just that good! The drinks are strong, the salsa is good and the wait staff has always been friendly. I'm never ran into the problems the other reviewers described. The patio is great and peaceful. There is usually parking and I've always seen a clean restaurant. Either way it's one of our favorite places! We love it here!

I've visited here only a handful of times and so far, they've made a good impression on me. The place has good chips and salsa and great margaritas! Awesome flavors! I haven't had any food here that I didn't enjoy and the service is good too.

Let's start off with an understanding of what Front Street Cantina is. It's a modern bar and grill setup that serves Mexican style food spun in a way that people in the Lemont area will enjoy. Period. It's NOT an authentic taqueria serving street tacos by a Mexican mother that gets the official 'authentic' stamp of approval. Knowing that, this place is a nice addition to the ever growing downtown Lemont scene. As a fan of Mexican cuisine, I'm happy to have this place in the area. If you are a lover of spice, anything labeled as spicy on the menu is actually mild. Keep that in mind. That's my one complaint about the menu, I wanted more heat. From the chips and salsa to the guacamole to my tacos Mexicanos that had the little chile icon next to it on the menu, everything needed more heat. I want my nose to run and my throat to feel that warmth while eating Mexican food. It simply wasn't there. The chips and salsa to start were decent. It was your standard salsa and yes, you can find better elsewhere. The guacamole is sort of prepared fresh. My brother and I noted that there's no way they could prepare it that fast so I'm guessing they make large batches ahead of time. I prefer to see someone cutting the avocados to order but I'm picky. I asked for corn tortillas with my tacos mexicanos and really enjoyed them. Streak topped with cilantro and onion, a squeeze of fresh lime and finished with their salsa verde, the flavor was wonderful. I don't think anyone would be disappointed in ordering these. And I was extremely happy with the rice. Most Mexican places serve bland and boring rice but this place was a step up. I actually finished the rice on my plate which surprised me. The beans were decent. Slightly chunky in texture which I liked though the flavor was more mild than expected. On a Sunday this place was half full. It's a new restaurant that's looking to expand their customer base. With the food they serve, it won't be long before new customers make this place a regular stop. I'll be back with the family.

Food and drinks are very good but if you go there request table seating only. The booth seating is uncomfortable. They need to remove the end piece so you can just slide into the booth. It was hard for an average sized person to get in the booth and would be near impossible for a larger individual. Suggestion...remove the end cap on the benches so patrons can slide into the seat like a regular booth bench

My husband and I moved to Lemont about 2 months ago from Chicago. We knew we were going to get downgraded in terms of restaurant choices and we have been pleasantly surprised at some, and proven right by others. Wanting Mexican food this evening, we ventured over to Front Street Cantina. Not much good I can say about the place other than the waitress was friendly. Room is not really inviting and while they have a huge patio space, we didn't want to sit outside. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican cooking so I ordered a taco salad. I mean how can you go wrong? Well the meat was tough and mealy and sour cream and guacamole cost extra when they generally are standard fare in most mexican restaurants. My husband ordered the Yucatecan Pork and he said it was just ok. Looks like we will be going back into the city for our Mexican dinner fixes, or to another restaurant that knows how to cook them.

Never mind the food - the service here was absolutely awful. Awful, awful, awful. As in, the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time. As a prior poster mentioned, we were part of a large party that would dine on Cinco de Mayo. As such, we called a week in advance to secure a reservation and confirm that the restaurant would be able to accommodate us. The hostess explained that while the restaurant does not typically take reservations (contrary to what's posted on their website), since we were such a large party they would take our reservation. We called again the day beforehand, May 4th, to confirm our reservation. We were once again told that, even know the restaurant does not take reservations, they would do so for us. They told us that we would have to wait a maximum of 30 minutes (which doesn't necessarily square with the idea of a reservation, but hey - it was Cinco de Mayo so we were willing to be flexible). They told us to arrive promptly at 7pm to ensure minimal waiting times. Our party was there promptly at 7pm, at which point the hostess on staff told us they could not honor our reservation. The manager was then called over, who did not even have the decency to acknowledge us or speak to us directly, and confirmed that they were not going to honor our reservation. No apologies, no offers to discount our meal. They told us we would have to wait an hour to be seated. The wait ended up being closer to 75 minutes. When we were finally seated, we were surprised to find that we were being placed at a table outside. It was now 8:30 pm in early May in Chicago - someone please explain to me why this is an acceptable thing to do? Particularly when the patio is exposed to the wind and there were no heat lamps or other ways to warm ourselves. Most of us were not dressed for the weather as we were not anticipating eating outdoors, so we spent the next 2 hours alternately freezing our butts off and trying to shout at each other over the noise of the freight trains and screaming children who were running around unattended. The final kicker was when the server skipped over my husband and I when taking drink orders (still not sure why), which you can imagine did not go over well - by now we were in sore need of a drink. In the end, my husband and I paid $60 to sit at a cheap patio table in the freezing cold by the train tracks, eating mediocre food. We would have been better off camping - at least then we might have been prepared for the elements. Shame on you Front Street Cantina. With this kind of service you will not be in business long.

Front Street Cantina is wonderful. Best Sangria I've had, much better than Emilio's in Napes. Love the guacamole and the delicious flaky shell they serve it in. My husband loves the steak they use , I believe he got a steak enchilada, said it was the best he's had. The restaurant is so cool looking inside, a warm, inviting atmosphere. The owners are young, hard-working, earnest and friendly, stopping at our table to make sure we're enjoying ourselves. We've been there about 4 times and will continue to go back, as the Front Street Cantina in our town is tough to get a table in.

This place is just OK. It's big with a large outdoor dining area, which is a plus, but the noise level inside can make conversation a challenge even when the place is half-full. Our server was Brittany, and she did a great job in seeing to the needs of our table of 12. It was a Tuesday, so the house mojito was on special at $4, but I found it to be quite watery and flavorless. The summer special margarita was much better. As for the food, the reviewer who noted that this was Mexican cuisine tailored to a suburban audience was spot on. I ordered a combo plate w. a taco, chile relleno, and a tamale, but didn't notice until I was halfway through that the tamale had been left off. Oh well. I thought the prices were about average. On the whole, the food could benefit from a lot more heat, as the choices marked "spicy" were anything but. A passable meal, but we're in no hurry to go back.

As some have pointed out, this is not a traditional Mexican restaurant, but nevertheless, it is AMAZING! If you want one sure fire dish to make you fall in love with the place, go for the Tacos Campos! Once you have that, you may be tempted to stop exploring the rest of the menu, but there's plenty more to choose from, like my close second favorite dish, Pedro Pollo. The BBQ Chicken Pizza is also incredible. I also haven't had a bad drink here, whether it's something sweet like a chocolate martini or something totally different like the jalapeno margarita. And for dessert, you won't go wrong with the Churros or the Fried Ice Cream. Just a heads up, when they give you the chips and salsa, they give you a mild salsa, but they have a spicier one in the back you can ask for instead. Every meal here has been great, and while it may not be spicy enough for some, I for one am glad to finally have a place in Lemont that actually knows how to cook with great flavors.

The Front Street Cantina is a nice restaurant located in historic downtown Lemont, which unfortunately lacks any real character. We were quickly served the chips and salsa and the salsa was among the best I have had in a very long time. Our server was very friendly and fairly attentive. However, what was lacking was our main course. My wife had the Chicken Fajita Burrito dinner and I had the Chicken Fajitas dinner. Unfortunately, neither had any flavor. Both tasted as though the chicken and vegetables were simply cooked in a skillet with water and without any type of seasoning (maybe the chef forgot). Fajitas tend to be a dish that is not very consistent for whatever reason, even among the same restaurant. In fact, I can only think of one restaurant were I have had the fajitas more than three or four times and it has been consistenly good--La Carretta in Merriville, IN. But that place is a hike for me. As for the Front Street Cantina, I wanted to like the place because it is not too far from my home and as I said, the salsa is excellent (although only the first basket of chips is complimentary, which I think they should reconsider). If they did, I might revisit them for some cocktails and chips and salsa. But, if you're not big on fajitas like me, try the place out and see what else they have to offer. But, if you are a fan, beware that you might waste around $14.

I can honestly say that this place has the worst service of any restaurant I have been to over the last few years. Went there last Saturday night, they said it would be about a 10 minute wait for a table outside. We waited about 20 minutes, but no problem there. After sitting there about 15 minutes we flagged a waitress who said that she would get someone. No one shows. I go back inside the restarant, I see the hostess, she acts surprised said she would get someone. No one comes. It is now 25 minutes since we were seated. We try to flag a waitress or the hostess but they dont even look over to our table. There are other numerous tables where people are sitting down and getting served immediately. We should have left already but it was a beautiful night. The table next to us just needed a fork and after numerous requests the customer went inside the restaurant and pulled one off a a table. He told us we should leave, that the food and service was awful. We get up to leave and and saw the hostess (short heavy set blond) and I told here we were leaving. She shrieked at us "I TOLD YOU I WAS GETTING SOMEBODY OUT THERE!! Sorry never ever again. We wasted a good part of a Saturday night there - I will NEVER go back.

Sad. I was hoping for a decent Mexican place in this town full of roast beef joints and endless "bar &grills", but I was pretty disappointed. While my chile relleno and chicken enchilada w/ mole combo wasn't bad, Front Street Cantina definitely lost a few stars for selling "queso" described as fondue when I'm pretty sure it was the nasty, fake, liquid cheese from a can served with nachos at a ballpark dressed up with some pico de gallo on top. Seriously?

    (2)
  • B R.

Unfortunately the food is not very authentic...there is no queso fresco served on the tacos and the back beans leave much to be desired. Th chicken quesadilla was great and the salsa very tasty. The taco or burrito meat was not very seasoned. I think it is subpar compared to El Faro or Zaca Tacos, but keep in mind I am from the southside and expect very authentic mexican

Delicious food, great margaritas and friendly staff. Tacos have a ton of flavor and just enough kick. Outdoor patio is really pleasant. John H. was our waiter and was very knowledgeable about the food and beer and was able to answer every question we had, I love that.

Food was great! Fresh, appealing, and delicious. In fact, the Tacos Campos were some of the best tacos I've ever had. The server told us that they pride themselves on the fresh made from scratch food... And it was. If you like good Mexican (Americanized) this is the place to go!

NOISE....THAT is what I remember the most!...we were seated, ordered drinks, after not being able to hear my wife seated across from me ( 20 inches at best) ordered food, ..Actually, food was good and tasty. Overpriced but hey its Lemont!.......I know noise and is expect, but there is something definitely wrong with the interior of this place's accoustics. Seriously, the reverb from people talking is incredible....Almost like they bottled noise and dumped it in this place. WOW....this place has good service and food but the high volume of distortion...something must be done...other places, such as Fridays get just as packed, but you can talk and hear each other.,,And eat at the same time. ...Question: Why do I have to pay more for soft shelled anything here( 3 hard = 2 soft, soft extra???)..The waitress could not even answer me this riddle Batman...maybe the owner can?

I tried this place many times. It's not bad, but it's not good either. Kind of in the middle the road.

Possibly one of the worst Mexican restaurants in the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area. It seemed that one of the servers stole our table from someone else - which was a shame because the other server had to be better than the one we got. She didn't know the specials, took our drink orders separately, (because my husband was using the restroom) and brought our bill before we asked - so I guess I was done, whether I wanted to be or not. The food was bad, too. The guac was grocery store variety, no heat, no spice, nothing special. The salsa was a mix of chopped up tomatoes, nothing more. My two tacos campos, one chicken, one steak, were really bad. The meat seemed as if it was flat ironed on to the grill, because both sides of each piece of meat had a hardened crust on it. My husband said there were no words to describe how bad his tamale was and that his burrito was edible. Don't even get me started on the watery beans. In a city that has a Mexican restaurant every few miles, my advice is to just keep on driving.

Nothing about this place is good. The service sucks and I can make better mexican food for one sixteenth the price in my own kitchen. Go to taco bell instead (i'm dead serious). I'm sorry to be so mean but this is such a good space I really wish some other restaurant would take over and give me something worth getting out of the house for.

We've always enjoyed the Front Street in downtown Naperville. Heard that a new one had opened up in Lemont so we thought that we'd try it out. On the recent Wednesday evening that we went there was an antique car show in downtown Lemont so we browsed around first. It was an unexpected bonus. Spoke to the manager and learned that the Lemont chef was the original Naperville chef and that he had recently returned from Mexico to work there. We were encouraged to try the signature Campos (his name) and they were marvelous. We had the barbeque chicken pizza without the salsa as an app and it was also very good. The food is not fiery hot but very tasty. We didn't try the Margharitas this time but enjoyed the Sangria. This is a brand new building and the decor is very nice. Front Street had live entertainment on their outdoor patio and it was fantastic. All in all for a newly opened restuarant it was very good. The food and entertainment were definitely worth the 20 minute drive. We'll be back!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
