Great food that's not Taco Bell. Mexican you can't beat. Cmon bad reviewers... I'm glad we have a Mexican place here in Lemont. They always serve you with a smile and the food is tasty! Tacos are good. Burritos tasty and great for a change of fast food since we have limited options anyways. Thanks!

Today I wasted almost $12.00 on hard- stale tamales ( I didn't know you could ruin )Why bother, just had some tamales if you want to call them that...These were actually hard inside ( corn meal ) indicating that they been sitting for a long time on one side of steamer and chicken all dried out, meat inside non-existent...almost broke a tooth.....Seriously...I should of went to Jewel and bought one out of the freezer section.....Waste of my hard earned money..... Why even sell this ?....And um don't worry EVER being on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives......I think I just peed myself....LOL

I thought it was lots of food for the money, but the food wasn't particularly good. I've driven by it hundreds of times over the years, and after trying it I'll continue driving by Guacamole was at least a day old, meat was chewy and at least a couple days old. Just pass on it and drive to Mr Taco in Romeoville

Food is very mediocre but they get away with it because they have no competition in town for Mexican food. The last 2 times I was here, I payed with a $20 bill and was expecting to get about $12 back. Both times, the scumbag at the front counter gave me 3 $1 bills, hoping I wouldn't notice that he gave me a single instead of a $10 bill. Just not good business.

Have been here three or four times now -- and each time the food has been delicious. Usually we just get tacos, though I had a chimichanga here and it was what I was hoping for. Hurrah for those little cojito cheese balls all over. The avocado tacos today were pretty incredible -- seemed even more robust than I remembered. They're really, really worth a try. Also got a couple chicken tacos that were super tender. Honestly, the scariest thing about ordering there is that I've read these Yelp reviews about them being gruff, but the guys behind the counter have actually always been plenty nice. Bring cash!

Agree with the attitude. Ask for my money back because food was cold, the man at the counter had to taste it before I got my money back. Thank goodness there is a great Mexican restaurant in downtown Lemont called H and H.

I do not enjoy rubbery nasty pieces of steak in more than 40% of my burrito. I can take a piece or two, but literally EVERY BITE had a chunk of rubbery grossness in it.BAD BAD BAD. My wife like there tacos, that's why I suffer. Try FRONT STREET CANTINA much better quality.

Food quality is consistent and is pretty good for takeout. I enjoy their guacamole and their steak tacos are pretty good. Always a good place to go when you have a taste for Mexican food. Prices are also pretty affordable.

We have lived here for 12 years and have frequented this place only because it is the only Mexican carryout in town. However, as of today we are officially done with this place. As others have said, there is too much fatty grizzle in the burritos and over the last 2 years they hardly put any steak in them at all. You end up paying $8 for a lettuce burrito with a few bites of grizzle. The man behind the counter is not friendly at all as others have stated. We will drive to Downers Grove from now on. They need to take some lessons from the places in Summit on Archer ave!

New place to eat for us. Food was okay. Very greasy dripping with juices. Not my usual standards. Didn't know sour cream carrots extra. We ate a few bites of entire dinner and threw out. Even husband only ate half of burrito and said he had enough. Will not return to eat there. person behind counter was not very friendly or polite. Update. Since I ate this meal an hour ago I have been sick from the grease.

Garbage, the guy behind the counter looks as if he's irritated that you stopped in to spend money, the food is ok at best, they charge you extra for every foil packet of hot carrots and peppers, and don't even bother to ask for change if your kid wants something from the gum ball machine the burrito nazi will tell you he can't open the register unless you buy something even though you just bought 3 dinners. And they only take cash, so if you show up with a credit card your out of luck.

A letter to the owner: Come on man - cheer up. You are not the Burrito Nazi. Your the only Mexican joint in Lemont loosen up and or pretend like you enjoy being there behind the counter. Your killing me when I "try" to place an order and you question my choice and what I want on it and "that's all?" ? It's OK if people like thing differently than what you expect of your customers - no need for terrible executed pressure from you - really. You have it pretty good - your monopoly in Lemont - start enjoying it and starting letting your customers enjoy their stay in your business. Ok? Cheer up - I promise you will feel better afterwards. Oh the food : straight up standard Mexican fare that's dependable enough - as equally drowns able cranky pants at the counter - but once you get passed him - you'll be fine. I have never eaten in - who knows maybe he climbs out from his tower of counter to heckle you on how you eat your food ? No reports but I would not be surprised.

Very good authentic Mexican food. Tacos are great as are the dinners. Read a few reviews about the owner being unfriendly , That could not be further from the truth. Sure the guy looks tough , but chat him up and he's as nice as they come. all the food is made to order, really happy they are here.

This place has the best authentic Mexican food in my area. The avocado tacos are the shizzz! Whenever I walk in the owner/worker behind the register always says hello and is very kind to me. I don't know why other people would feel threatened, those dudes are GREAT:)

Great food but....The owner and/or employees have serious attitude problems. The seem to be playing up to that "Hey I'm MACHO" type persona. Makes you appreciate or rather go to Taco Bell with some brain dead teen at the helm going through the motions just to get payed.

It's the closest burrito joint nearby and has been pretty reliable for tasty goods. The food isn't quite what I was used to getting when I lived in Southern California for a while where Mexico is only a 2-hour drive ... but it's actually better than some of my old favorites in the area here (from when I was younger) in that at least their burritos aren't full of lettuce and other non-traditional extras. Meat, beans, cheese, maybe some salsa or guacamole ... nice 'n simple.

The food is decent but the guy on the phone and works behind the counter is rude, and is a jerk. I would give it 4 stars if he wasn't a jerk.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
