Mama's is our favorite breakfast spot. Mom and pop shop for sure. Everything is very affordable. (Cheap!) And you get a good portion of food. I usually get the 2 egg special just 3.99. Everything comes out super fresh and in a timely manner. Taste wonderful. The hash brown are always so good and pancakes are fluffy and delicious. Their chilaquiles is amazing! Omg. I highly recommend to try them if you want something different, Steak is always cooked to perfection and the chips have the perfect amount of spice to it. I love their coffee and the service is very friendly. For lunch I've had their steak sandwich. Its was wonderful. Nice flavorful juicy steak is what I got on a bun. Yum

Good for what it is. Nice salad bar. But, it's a pizzeria, and I feel like my pizza slice had been previously frozen.

The food is low priced, which is my favorite thing about mama's. The breakfast special is under $5 - nowhere in town can you get anything that cheap. The portions are not as large as some other places, but then again I shouldn't be eating those sized portions and walking away feeling bloated anyway. The food is average quality, nothing amazing or unique in the menu but nothing I've had has been bad, either. Great joint for a quick, cheap standard breakfast.

I love this place. They make the best chilaquile with steak ever! I get cravings tor it! And don't forget to have pancakes with it! I have never had anything that wasn't good here. I had Swedish pancakes for the first time, and I must say that I loved them, but I wasn't too crazy about the sauce that came with it. It was made from lingonberries. The only drawback to me about this place is that it closes at 3pm daily.

I was in Joliet today to get some work done on my car and tried Mama's for a late breakfast based on the Yelp reviews. Went with the basics: two scrambled eggs, three slices of bacon, good size portion of hash browns and two pancakes--for $3.99 !!! The quality was good and the eggs, bacon and pancakes were all made to order. As a point of comparison I ordered essentially the same breakfast at Le Peep up in Mt. Prospect on Saturday--for $9.95. The bacon at Le Peep had been sitting around and was dried out on Saturday. So the quality was better at Mama's. This will definitely be my breakfast spot next time I am in Joliet.

The perfect combination of small town breakfast joint and high quality food. Mama's staff seem to know everyone that walks in, and you're quickly included. The food portions are large, especially considering the modest pricing. Everything is prepared like a great home cooked meal. This little gem of a breakfast/lunch place needs to be visited! The staff is attentive, the simple menu is wonderful, and I'll be here again!

It was alright small time place the food wasn't very fresh but the portions were good and it was pretty cheap. The service wasn't great because they weren't too friendly and they had too many workers where some of them were just watching the tv in the diner.

I was in town for a show and wanted to grab a quick breakfast. I checked out yelp and saw this place had only a few reviews but they were good, so I gave it a shot. There was no wait and prices on the menu were very cheap. I ordered the chilaquiles and strip steak for $9. Really, $9? All I can say is wow. The meal was unbelievable. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best breakfast meals I've ever had, and for under $10. The service was also attentive and excellent. It's too bad that I'm not from the area or I would be a regular. I'll definitely consider going out of my way next time I'm driving down I-55 and hungry.

Stopped by one day randomly and was surprised by this great find. My brother ordered ribs and they were larger than we expected. Service was very attentive. Place was clean. Good place for a family meal.

This restaurant is great! The food is delicious no matter what you order. Always fresh and tasty. They are always willing to get you want you want, no problem. None of that, "well, let me check, I'm not sure" kind of thing, its always "sure thing, whatever you would like". It's small and cozy, and the servers are all fantastic! They make you feel like family, like you're in your "Mama's" kitchen! You only need to go a couple of times and they remember your beverage of choice and its on your table before you can get comfortable. They're quick! This is one of my favorite "hidden gem" places to go. They are trying new hours now and are open until 9pm! I was so happy to hear that. They started that 2 weeks ago and I've been there twice for dinner already! Oh, and you get BIG BANG for your buck too! Three of us adults can eat full meals for breakfast or lunch for under $30.00. You can beat that!

Amazing food at amazing prices with amazing service! What more could you want? I had the breakfast croissant sandwich with eggs, ham & provolone, plus the cream of chicken & rice soup and coffee (delicious!) My boyfriend had the country fried porkchop & eggs plus chocolate milk. And total with tax our bill was only $22. Now that's outstanding! Is the carpet a little frayed and worn and their some pencil marks on the walls? Sure. But that just lends to the mom & pop diner charm! And they take credit card! :)

I don't recommend this place. Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The table we were sat down at wasn't clean, there was a sticky spot (probably syrup) on the table that I put my arm down on immediately after we sat down. That was lovely. There was a fly buzzing around our heads the majority of the time we were there. As for the food, I ordered a tomato, onion and feta omelette, but when it arrived, no tomato or onion, just feta. I doubt I will be making a return visit here.

With all the good reviews I thought this place would be great. Went for a Sunday breakfast. The place was extremely dirty. The eggs, toast and pancakes were fine. The potatoes tasted like they were fried in rancid oil. I can't recommend this place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
