Seriously awesome ! ...OK.. well.. this DQ has always IMO had better food than any other DQ I've been to.. though lately it all seems the same. But they do have "gooey cheese" options than any other DQ i've been to. Yah try going to another DQ and asking for "gooey cheese" on your burger, and look at the funny look they give you... (or the few times they have any clue what you're talking about, they usually put that nasty nacho cheese on it and it tastes funny). Gooey cheese on the fries too, please! They also feature two kitchens--one for ice cream and one for the real food... which apparently at the time it was (re)-built was some sort of innovation.

***UPDATE*** Since writing this review, I went back a few times. (I know, stupid thing to do. But, after a while it became like a game, "Let's see what my Blizzard looks like this time!") I swear, I have never gotten the same thing twice. It's ridiculous. I order the same thing every time and it's always different and never what I ask for. And now with the new soft-serve place open on Poplar, I'm thinking DQ might take a hit. (I hope so... ) ---------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW ---------------------------- One bad and one good experience. I love Dairy Queen, but I think some of the kids working here shouldn't be left alone without adult supervision. (and by "adult", I mean someone over the age of 25) The first night we went, there was a girl working at the cash register who was obviously new. (blonde, tall) She was polite and tried her best... even though everyone else seemed to totally ignore her and not help her out at all. Poor thing. Everything seemed normal until after we ordered and a huge line formed. The new girl was totally slammed and so the ice cream that was being made in the back was just sitting on the pass-through. The cherry sundae that my husband ordered was brought out and set on the front counter without a word- there wasn't anyone telling us what it was or who it was for. So, it sat. The two teenagers working in the back that night were horrible. They were gossiping, pointing and laughing at customers, laughing and making fun of the new girl (they apparently had her come to the back and told her to try a new chocolate waffle cone... which was actually just a burnt regular cone. This could be a funny prank IF they were trying to be funny and not just mean.) Several times the two in the back would look out and see the crowd forming and then look at the blonde girl and laugh. A few times, the boy (bigger kid, brown hair) would come out around the corner, look at the crowd, whisper something through the pass-through at his friend and ignore the growing pile of ice cream. He should have taken the initiative to hand out the orders and I was disappointed that he didn't. As more and more people were ordering, the number of cups increased on the pass-through. The cherry sundae kept melting and melting... and what I, by now, assumed was my blizzard was also just sitting up there melting. After about 5-6 minutes, the new girl took a break from the cash register and finally started handing stuff out. I complained that my blizzard was melted and she argued with me ("no it isn't, it's fine.") and my husband was more convincing and made them remake his sundae (which by then had melted so much, it almost overflowed the cup). Phew! Ok, so that experience stinked. It was simply a case of needing one of those annoying kids in the back to actually WORK and not giggle & gossip. I would think the owner would not be proud to have them as employees. A couple of nights later, my husband dragged me back. Good thing, cause the teenaged boy helping at the drive through was great! From what I could tell, it was a totally different staff from the other night. Our order was correct, the guy was polite and smiled, and I was very happy.

The air conditioning in this Dairy Queen is either broken or the owner has it off to save money even though it's 90 degrees out. It took 6 minutes to get a frozen hot chocolate and blizzard with only one order ahead of us inside. All the tables were dirty and trash and food bits were on the floor. I'm disgusted but not surprised by the Highland Dairy Queen.

The unreliable, rude, immature, and incompetent high school staff that operate this joint are driving it into the ground. Every single time we go there our order is wrong. When we call to have it corrected the employees argue that the computer told them differently- even if our receipt proves otherwise. Even if the food was worth eating I won't be back.

Horrible service, they never have everything on the menu and the people working there are unapologetic about it in the least bit! If you want Dairy Queen, drive the extra 15 minutes to glen carbon, theirs is faster, friendlier and has the complete menu!

The worst DQ in Illinois. The bubblegummers that run the place are clueless and it shows in the sloppy service, dirty tables and restrooms and their lackadaisical attitude. Avoid like the plague!!

Oh my. Just went here tonight to get two Blizzards. This is the worst restaurant in Highland. It took over 15 minutes to get the order with two cars in front of me only ordering two ice creams each. I get to the window and our Blizzards are melted and no longer ice cream. Oh and by the way as I am at the window someone else pulls up next to me and our lady helps them. She says they were just getting ice cream so did not want it to melt. She then pulls ours out and it is a joke. Completely melted. I told they lady I would like new ones and the female manager starts yelling at me that they are fine. She proceeds to scrape the top portion off the ice cream and declares them fine. I told her I would like my money back and she refuses and tells me to leave and to throw my ice cream in the trash. I did. I will never come here again. I asked to speak with the Manager and she said you are speaking to her. Something is wrong with this place. No restaurant can operate for long like this. I do not believe the owner of this place has any idea how badly this place is being run. Beware not nice people or good food.
