When you first enter this small diner, you are greeted with the smell of cleaning fluid with bleach. It almost made us walk out, but we were with my parents (both in their 80s) and didn't want to get back into the car and find anywhere else. The room you walk into has counter service, and their were several people sitting there. It was about 12:30 on a Monday, and I noticed they were all having breakfast. There is another small room where there are maybe 12 tables and booths. We were immediately brought back to a booth and given menus. The server was very nice and attentive. My wife and I decided to split a club sandwich and chips. The service was huge and it was a wise choice to split it. My mom had a poached egg and toast, and my dad had a cheeseburger with mushrooms and swiss cheese. The price was low. Two negatives: (1) I already mentioned the bleach smell. (2) the bathrooms are downstairs - and not just downstairs. You go down a steep staircase, down a hall, up another step, then down another one until you get to one bathroom. The bleach smell covers the musty smell in the basement. I understand this is by the Fox River, but it is unfortunate that a restaurant can't get the mildew under control. So, the food and the service were good, but they need to develop more of a focus on cleanliness.

I'm in the middle of moving and cannot find any of my kitchen pans yet. I still have to eat and don't eat fast food. I stopped into the Geneva diner on my way to work and was pleasantly surprised that the food is cheaper than any of the other restaurants in the Batavia/Geneva area. I was also pleasantly surprised that the food was pretty good. Yes, it's diner food but it's pretty good diner food. They use real eggs, real butter, and I'm reasonably sure the hashbrowns did not come out of the freezer. The woman who waited on me, I believe her name was Julie, was great. She was very nice and very helpful and I really liked watching her interact with the other customers while I waited for my food. The portions are big enough that I'm going to save the other half for breakfast tomorrow, so I probably won't be coming back in the morning but I will definitely be coming back.

I've only ordered out from here so far, but I was extremely pleased so I hope to update this review after dining in. I called and placed an order around 10:30 am on Sunday and was told the food would be ready in fifteen minutes. When I arrived, it was promptly given to me with polite service. I ordered the eggs Florentine and my bf got the Denver omelet. Both meals came with hash browns and were generous portions. The eggs Florentine were great. The only advice I'd give is to eat this at home because there is a lot of spinach and it gets stuck in your teeth. I suspect it's frozen, given the texture-- but the dish is still very good. My only complaints are that the holladaise sauce was a little salty and the hash browns could have been crispier. My bf didn't have any complaints about his food. We will definitely return to dine in.

It is what it is. Old school looking diner with comfortable vibes, clean, with great breakfast served fast, fresh at very fair prices. Nothing fancy at all, just chill :-) I recommend the Greek skillet, chase it down with chocolate milk and or orange juice ;-)

Went here the other morning for breakfast with my family (5 adults & 3 kids). I called ahead and let them know we would have a larger party and they let us know it would be a little wait but only about 20 minutes. When we got there, I was surprised by how small it was. It really is diner sized. So it has a few booths, a few tables, and a long counter to sit at. Anyway, they pushed the few tables together for us, and we had plenty of table room. The service was great: pleasant attitude with lots of smiles, constant refills on everything, even patience for the little ones to order. Our server was excellent, and they have a good team because other servers offered refills to us as well. The food was top notch as well. It's breakfast, and it was a typical breakfast. Not real fancy or anything, but all delicious. As a group, we got a lot of different things: eggs, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, omelettes, bacon, sausage, and even soup. Everyone loved their food. All in all our experience here was awesome. Great food, great service, and, come to think of it, great value. Our bill was less than ten dollars per person. I only wish I lived closer, because I'm getting hungry just writing this review.

This is very scary, I am slowly becoming a "regular" here! Not the "coffee clutch" regular, but a regular that appreciates the proprieties of sitting at a counter as apposed to tables and booths. Sitting at the counter of a diner is a different dimension. The owners are damn happy people and always acknowledge you and appreciate your business without being a Burdon. There is No Pinocchio Nose here! However if your a gluten free fanatic with a million questions about the menu, please sit at a table or booth and not next to me at the counter. This is a Diner...not Egg Harbor Café.

Best way to describe this place; a meat and potatoes, down home, food just like grandma use to make. This place is good and it's consistent. Anything breakfast is good. My favorite is the corn beef hash. They put and egg or two on top. Anything egg is good here. Grits, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy all very good. Coffee is very good too. Wait staff friendly. So what's the hidden trouble with this place you ask? It can get crowded. Saturday or Sunday morning can be quite a long wait. But, its worth it. I've never had one but the grand kids say the burgers are really good here also. Can't go wrong with this place!

I visited The Geneva Diner with my son this summer, after a day playing at Island Park. Luckily the diner was not full as we visited during the wee and the location is pretty small, and I imagine they can run into long wait times on the weekend. The service here was really fast and we were taken care of right away. Staff was nice and not overly friendly. Our food was delivered quickly and my son loved his pancakes. We ordered the Mickey Mouse pancakes that looked more like teddy bear pancakes, but he didn't care. He loved the banana eyes, the strawberry nose and best of all - the chocolate chip mouth! I would definitely return, but probably during the week when it's not crowded.

Breakfast-favorite meal of the day and this place did it very well. The restaurant is small, a quintessential diner with about 10 tables and a counter for seating. It was a Saturday morning so we had to wait a few minutes but the service was timely for a small diner so no complaints there. We ordered two omelettes; the garlic and mushroom with provolone cheese +gyro meat and the Santa Fe. The Santa Fe was OK. It is made with veggies, cheese, sausage and salsa, the salsa was Overwhelming and it tasted like tostitos salsa, so I wouldn't recommend it. BUT I would recommend the garlic and mushroom!! It was delicious. It is not often you find garlic in an omelette so I had to get it. The garlic worked perfectly with the fresh mushrooms, melty cheese and the gyro. I ordered a side of their homemade tzatziki sauce and it was great as well! We ordered a side of sausage and bacon which were both also good and cooked to our liking. One thing I want to mention is the bathroom because it was a bit of an adventure.( if you go or have been you'll know what I mean haha) The door is located in the back of the dining area and to get to it you have to walk down a flight of stairs. It feels like you are walking into someone's basement and there is only one bathroom. I didn't mind it and it was clean, just wanted to add the warning/side note. I will defiantly be going back and would recommend this place to anyone. Good food, good staff and affordable.

Best bagel sandwich I've ever had. I can't believe I didn't try this place sooner.

Through the din of all the over rated breakfast places, the quaint, old school Geneva Diner never fails us. The food is appropriately priced, served hot and quickly. I love the steak and eggs!! The coffee is poured by the always friendly staff as often as I need it. I like to go in at 10 when I have a choice, as it is a diner, and can get a little busy at the normal breakfast hours. I have never waited long, however, no matter when I go in. I like the "regular crowd" of old guys that frequent the diner, as I can usually pick up some local news while I'm eating. Sit at the counter if you are a party of two or less. The sun shines in from the eastern exposure in the morning.

The breakfast was mediocre. My market was overlooked but the veggies were fresh. The homemade corned beef hash was lackluster. My husband said it was the 2nd worse corned beef hash he's ever had. Our waitress was fine, the kitchen slow. Why come here if you have other choices. We came because there was s 30 minute wait at Nosh. Hadn't been to either place but no wait here should have been an indication.

Over crowed...food was terrible..we waited for 45 minutes before our breakfast got to the table. Overall horrible dining experience. Will never go back.

Best Eggs Benedict anywhere. They use homemade hollandaise sauce and not that stuff from a box. You can definitely taste the difference! Unfortunately they have some of the worst coffee I've ever had, but the prices are great, the people are friendly and the space is comfortable. There are plenty of places to get good coffee in Geneva, I know of only one to get awesome Eggs Benedict for $7.

Flavor of the food was good, but my breakfast was served slightly cold. A problem for a breakfast skillet. Also, my poached eggs were overdone. Also a problem. However, the price was fairly cheap, so that was a positive.

Stopped here with my nieces and nephew and daughter since it had good reviews. Typical diner food. Staff was very friendly and there was no wait when we went at around 2:30. We were able to park our bikes in one of the car parking lots :). Had the burgers, chicken fingers, mac cheese, fish sandwich. Took a lot longer than i expected to get our food and everything was just ok. When we were sitting a bunch of people sitting beside us ordered breakfast food and it looked good. Next time we come back ill definitely order some French toast...yum. The lunch should definitely not be your first choice here as the lunch food we got was kinda bland.

Perfect little place for an inexpensive, delicious breakfast or lunch. Alone? Sit at the counter and chat with the staff and patrons. With a friend, sit in the side room at a booth or table. I love the egg salad sandwich and homemade soup. My wife likes the breakfast sampler and french toast. We both love the terrific, friendly service. Earlier review stated that they don't accept credit cards, which was probably true years ago, but they do now.

We moved to Geneva 1 1/2 yrs. ago & found The Geneva Diner shortly after. Every Sunday we are able, we enjoy breakfast after church. The entire staff is pleasant and we always feel welcome in the family friendly atmosphere. We have tried other restaurants in the area, none can compare to The Geneva Diner.

Awesome breakfast, classy service and excellent food. Some of the best corned beef and hash that I've ever had. It's the real deal.

Its rare that I'll ding a place for being "cash only", but that, coupled with the crappy corn beef hash that I had ... go to Mel's instead.

We went to The Geneva Diner mid-week for lunch, as we were growing tired of the usual options and wanted a change. The diner itself is a bit dated, and could use some renovation. I was expecting classic diner-style, and was greeted instead with a Denny's imitation. There's nothing wrong with that, but the restaurant was showing signs of its age, and could use new floors, a fresh coat of paint, and some new decor. That aside, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We appreciated her thoughtfulness, and found the service at the diner to be very quick. The food was perfectly tasty, but nothing beyond the ordinary. I had the chicken tenders with fries (listed as an "old-time favorite" on the menu) and found both to be very nice.

Love the Diner! Great breakfast and super friendly service - this place is the epitome of everything that is great about small town America. Our daughter loves the short counter, I love the skillets!

a great little place in Geneva. great breakfast food, the mediterian skillet is my favorite. A pita topped with hash browns and gyro meat with and egg spinach and peppers. amazing... great prices too, terrific staff.

This place is THE PLACE to get breakfast. Great good reasonable prices and nice staff. It is true.. Sit at the counter for express service.

We have gone to the diner for many year, usually twice a month. The breakfast food is reliable, and if you like 'real' corned beef hash, it is the only place I know of serving it. The eggs are always as ordered and the family greets us with friendliness...something we find important, the food is reliable and substantial, even if the atmosphere is a little lacking. After trying many if the newer more upscale breakfast places, we always find ourselves going back to the tried and true!

There's nothing fancy here; it's typical diner food. However, everything is made to order, the soup is good and the service is friendly. It's what I love about a good diner.

Typical diner menu, decent service and prices. I enjoy sitting at the counter for a quicker meal experience.

Wonderful small diner with typical menu and good food preparation. Obviously it is a bit of town center, with a pile of newspapers as well as the recent winning lottery numbers. The two sisters behind the counter, I wish I knew their names, are great hosts and take good care of the dining customer and their experience.

Forget the typical spots. This is a hidden gem. Very modest. Very casual. A place with no pretense but great food. I had the club. It had abundance of meat and there was no skimping. Great! The wait staff is sincere and outstanding. Very kind and attentive without being overbearing and "fake". Forget Nosh and go right around the corner to this old style American diner. This is what makes Up the American spirit.

Geneva diner has been one of my favorite breakfast places for years. Its really simple average breakfast food, But yeah theres no point in expecting the best of ever thing, i just leads to alot of disappointment. The servers are always friendly and coffee is always hot. My favorite thing in the menu just so happens to be the one thing thats bashed here on yelp. The corned beef hash. Hey if you like that cat food that most people sell and call it corned beef hash. then yeah you wont like the corned beef hash sold here. but if you like fresh potato with fresh onion and fresh corned beef simply cooked on a flat top and not turned to mush then this will be the best.

I enjoy this place. The staff are super friendly. The service is pretty quick. The food is tasty. The prices are reasonable. This is not fine dining but a good breakfast/lunch place. You will find all the usual breakfast fare and it is well done. I go here about 2-3 times a month.

Went there on Friday 10/4 with 3 others in the group. There were 2 persons at the counter and no one at any tables in back which is where we were seated. Our waitress was quick to take our order, but the order took forever to arrive to our table (at least 30 minutes). If it was crowded, I'd understand, but with only 3 parties in the joint, umm way to long. While waiting I visited the restroom which was downstairs into a smelly basement, down a hallway then up a steep stair to get into the restroom. Grateful there wasn't a smoke/fire alarm!! I ordered a gyros sandwich with cole slaw. The cole slaw was watery, but ok tasting. The gyros was the worst I've ever had. I've ordered gyro's from a 'diner' type establishment before and they've all been very tasty. The meat (all 4 slices that didn't even cover the pita bread) was old, and cooked way to long - it was hard. Crunched when I cut it with the knife and fork. I returned it to the kitchen explaining to the waitress why I was returning it. I ordered a safe meal of scrambled eggs and toast. My meal was comped, but I'll never return there to eat. I will say however that the other 3 people in my party enjoyed their selections of eggs benedict and southwestern omelet.

Charming little diner that probably hasn't changed much since it was open. Has a long counter to eat at plus some booths in the back. Friendly service, good diner food, and good prices. Will be back!

I'll agree with everyone -- it's a charming little diner, kind of a throwback to the places we used to get breakfast in before McDonald's served breakfast (that's a LONG time ago, right?). It's a little worn around the edges, but the BLT Club was fine (and not on the menu). And prices are generally cheaper than the fast food joints... Saying that, Mel's Diner down the street is a bit more energetic and feels like there's more action, so it's still my first choice. TIP: I was there for lunch today -- and there was only one other table in the whole place - so if you're in a hurry, give this place a shot!
