The best thai food in Illinois! From the reviews I read I was expecting bad service, but it was quite the opposite! I don't know why people are complaining about the service, I think some people expect to be treated like royalty sometimes! Their food is very authentic and I cannot believe we found this awesome place! I live in Chicago, but I dont mind driving to get some of this thai food! OOo one thing that might be helpful is that you should bring cash because they prefer cash for tips.

Best Thai food in the area period. Other places nearby in Tri cities are more expensive and don't even come close to the food at Bangkok.

It's been a little while since I've been here, but I fondly remember authentic, delicious Thai food with great service (and also BYOB) Best Thai that I've had in the Geneva area, by far. I plan on returning soon and rereviewing it.

Granted, it has been a few years since I've been here, but it remains the best Thai food I've had. I grew up in the area and had my first Thai food here; since then, I've tried just about every Thai restaurant in Chicago and just can't seem to find a place that matches up. What I do remember well is this: their satay is wonderful. Also, their curry is hot (if you ask for it).... I mean hot, really really hot. Not many places do "hot" right. The family I came here with growing up were regulars, and they were treated like royalty. Although I'm no longer in the area, I will be sure to go back next time I'm in town.

Sorry to say that this place was a let down. Having lived in Asia for 13 years, am familiar with the Thai fare. Tom kha gai which tasted of evaporated milk was not authentic nor tasty. Two stars for being edible.

Ordered takeout from Bangkok the other night and we were terribly disappointed. My husband and I each ordered the tofu pad thai- my absolute favorite dish. I have eaten this same dish at nearly a dozen different restaurants around the country and this version was by far the worst. The tofu was completely flavorless and undercooked, and the noodles were extremely dry and also without much flavor at all... so much so that I thought they must have forgotten to add some ingredients. It was a serious bummer to dig into my fave dish to find it in such a sad state. The other items we purchased were better- the Thai-style egg rolls were tasty and the chicken fried rice was approved by the children. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. I am not one to give poor reviews, especially to a local business, but we won't go back here...

Bangkok is one of my family's favorite Thai restaurants. The family is very personal and knows us all by name and order. They staff is extremely friendly. Their Thai food is very good, ranging from their soups, appetizers and main dishes. Everything is decently priced, and is a place we always look forward to coming to when in the area!

This place deserves a 5 star review. It is an authentic, hidden gem in the heart of downtown Geneva. I stopped in for a quick lunch with friends and decided to order a few plates for everyone to share. The shrimp rolls and vegetable rolls were absolutely amazing. Best I have ever had anywhere, hands down. I wish I could exaggerate at how amazing they were but I can't. They have a spicy sausage salad, which had enough heat to give it a kick and allow for an abundance of other flavor. Whoever wrote the bad review about the pad thai must have been having an awful day to start. It was full of flavor and there was enough on the plate to share. The sweet and sour sauce balanced the peanut flavor which I believe can sometimes be a little too much on a dish. All in all I wish this place was in Chicago where I live. I will absolutely come back when visiting the suburbs.

If you're craving Thai, this place is OK. There was just a smattering of customers on a weekday night. Dining room is a hodge-podge of tables set with banquette dinette chairs. My (un-original, I know) Pad Thai was a thoughtless pile of noodles with some flavorless chicken pieces. And it was small. Left unsatisfied.

Love Bangkok!!! The food is always good. I just wish they would update the place or at least give it a good cleaning. Its a great hole in the wall type of restaurant. If you go here, it is not a state of the art facility. only giving 4 stars because of the atmosphere. LOVE the food and service!!!

This review is based on my take-out order of Pad Thai. Upon entering, I noticed two ladies that work there watching a portable tv very loud & in a different language (that would have annoyed me if I was dining in). Remember the movie Mars Attacks where the martians cackle way too loud? "Rack, rack, rack, RAACK?" That's what it sounded like as I waited for my food. No other patrons were in there. My food was ready in under 15 minutes. I didn't have enough cash with me & tried to use my debit card. Nope....not unless I was spending at least $15. Great. I had to go to the car & scrape up all the random loose change (I swear that sh*t only happens to me). And yes, I paid her in nickels. Food Blah. It was given to me in a typical Chinese food container...awkward for Pad Thai; it's best served in a rectangular box so all the items start out separate & one can mix as desired. I have no idea what the sauce normally is called that is used in Pad Thai, but their sauce was not up to par. I'm used to it tasting more on the sweeter side, but this was kind of chalky. The noodles were thinner than normal & over-cooked (thus sticking together). Of all the wonderful foodie places in Geneva, I had to pick this one. Damnit. Doubtful that I'll go back or recommend it.

Love this place! I was addicted for a while when I worked nearby, but I got transferred and only get there every couple of weeks now. Super friendly people, great prices, and wonderful food. All curries are awesome. You also can't go wrong with anything on the menu from #46-53. The only thing I have a problem with is choosing what I want to order. Nice cozy, homey feel inside. Byob if u want wine or beer.

Yum! I'm not even done with dinner yet but I must give 5 stars...... I love little places like this- not fancy, but the food is to die for! Agreed- the Mussamun Nuea is out of this world, and the Phad Gra Praw is my stand by usual order- this was the best I've had anywhere! Of course BYOB is fun too.

Excellent, just excellent Thai food! We are from out of town and we're staying at a nearby hotel and found this gem. We we're here for 3 nights and ate there all 3 nights so we could try the different dishes, we were never disappointed. Try the Snapper, a really good fish with a beautiful presentation. Decor is simple and the restaurant is clean. Service was great, very prompt, and it's BYOB, and that was so nice. They don't even charge a corkage fee. We said goodbye to the owners tonight, so sad to leave. They made us feel like family and fed us like family, and it made our trip special.

Bangkok Restaurant is a gem of a place in the far west suburbs of Chicago. I eat there every time I'm visiting home. The restaurant itself is small and BYOB but is always bustling. The food is simply first-class; best of all, it's home-cooked, and feels fresh and hearty, unlike some other Thai restaurants. Honestly, this is the best Thai food I have ever had outside of Thailand itself. And I've been to probably 200+ Thai restaurants around the world. Portion sizes are large and I always have leftovers. Make sure to try their green curry or their pad ped ma muang (cashew stir fry) or pad graw paw (basil stir fry) which are well-spiced, delicious and fresh. They also use high quality ingredients from their vegetables to their tofu. This place is really special and stands out as one of the best Thai restaurants in Chicagoland.

  • Jaclynn D.

The service was awful. We couldn't even try the food because they gave our table away that we had been told was ours. Apparently she thought we were with the people who she gave our table to? When a table was available, it was a little too small so we asked if we could use another one and they said no.The man, who I believe was the owner, was unbelievably rude. We left (our group of 9) and will not be returning. We ended up going to Thai Zie in St. Charles. It was pretty good.

Best Thai restaurant in the area. If you are planning to eat in, call ahead, especially on weekends. Love the Mussamun Nuea - beef curry with peanuts and potatoes. Others we get a lot are 46, 47 and 48 (spicey). They have the best drinks in town - its BYOB!

We really do not visit Thai restraurants much but we won a gift certificate in a raffle. What a great opportunity to try this out. We loved this place. We started with a Sa-Tae and Paw Pia Tod appetizers. Both were pretty good with the Sa-Tae being our favorite in a nice peanut sauce. For the main course my wife ordered the Pa-Naeng (Mild) and I the Mussamun Nuea (Medium spicy). We sampled each other's and I still preferred mine. Could have been just a bit spicier but if I wanted spicier, I should have ordered the Hot then. :-) The prices were awesome and our dinner for two with appetizers was around $35. Not bad at all. (They do not serve alcohol here) The decor is simple and this is truly a little neighborhood restraurant. It did get pretty loud when two large parties arrived and that's the only reason we dropped a star. It became hard to hear each other. Highly recommend this place.

This is THE best Thai food you will get in miles! After living in Chicago I still couldn't find Thai as delicious of authentic as the hole-in-the-wall in Geneva. The people who run Bangkok Restaurant are wonderful! They're very friendly and helpful. If you want to try something new just ask them, they have never failed me. I used to work down the street and I would get lunch/dinner here almost daily. The atmosphere is definitely hole-in-the-wall status and if you're expecting anything else you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. It's not a castle, it's about 200 sq ft of deliciousness.

Geneva is full of restaurants aimed at tourists; this place is where the locals eat. It's a small, family-run place that serves wonderful Thai food at reasonable prices.

They seem like nice people at this restaurant so I feel bad for writing this, but--- This is how bad my meal here was: I just registered for Yelp for the purpose of bashing them. I have eaten at multiple Thai restaurants in 10 different U.S. and European metropolitan areas and I have never had a meal this bad. I thought it would be decent, given that it's been at this location forever. A mistake. My meal was carry-out. Normally I order spicy basil or curry dishes at Thai restaurants but I was craving Squid Pad Thai so that's what I ordered. Salty, salty, salty. It tasted like a pack of Ramen noodles. Actually I think that's what it was. Squid was 2.00 extra and there was maybe 3 or 4 tiny pieces of squid, along with unidentifiable mystery meat. Not near enough vegetables either. Did I mention salty? Crazy salty. Salt-lick salty. Atlantic Ocean salty. I took a few bites and threw it out. They also put the wrong appetizer in my to-go and since the bag was stapled shut I didn't notice until I got home. Awful. Shameful. Just terrible. I wish I could give this place negative 5 stars.

Small place but amazing food. Family owned and operated. I dream about their Tom Ka Gai soup. It's a coconut based soup flavored with galingale root and lime juice. It has chicken, and mushrooms in it as well. This is my comfort food, and you can get as spicy as you want!

  • Mark K.

Byob. Excellent food, family owned. What's not to love? People flock here from all destinations the food is that good. Love the # 53, order it hot and get ready for a firestorm of flavors in you mouth. Lad Nar is outstanding.

Mmm...tasty and BYOB - Bonus! The food is good and it is authentic! Service was very nice and friendly. Item #1, chicken sa-tae (satay) was excellent. The meat was super tender and their peanut sauce is really nice and slightly sweet. We also ordered a Tom Ga soup to share and it was good, but perhaps a little over lime-y. I would have preferred it to be more savoury. The chicken was rubbery and I thought they could have done a better job. The #53 was really delicious but I have to minus 1 star because of one BIG problem I had - the chef doesn't use fresh minced garlic. Other than that, the thai garlic sauce is very nice and garlicky - the shrimp was fresh and perfectly prepared! Preminced garlic (aka, the big plastic jars sold at Costco) have a very unique taste. This is a good spot to go to for an affordable night out. I walked out stuffed for $15 with tax and tip inclusive! (per person...)

Went here on a friend's recommendation. Atmosphere is like an old diner in other words - none! Service was VERY slow. Green curry - bland, Sweet and sour chicken - sauce was watery. Shrimp appetizer was crispy but oily. We really wanted to like this place, a BYOB is nice. However the food was bland, service slow and atmosphere non-existant. I read so many reviews that I thought great sounds like the place I want to go, reviewing the critiques now - I see alot of people like this place due to the price. I just want good food, I doubt I would even go back for lunch regardless of price. See my other reviews - for a Thai recommendation.

I feel bad slamming this place but we had one of out worst restaurant experiences here. My wife and I brought a couple of friends here who were from out of town, we had reservations for 6pm. When we got there we were told it would be about fifteen minutes and so we waited. As we waited we looked around and all agreed that there wasn't one table that looked nearly ready to go. Since my wife and I are ten year regulars here I went and talked to the owner, he said no problem on taking my cell number and calling us when a table was ready. We went to the bar down the street. After about an hour, and no calls, we walked back to Bangkok Rest only to see them seating another group at what should of been our table. The owner tried to play dumb about it which further pissed us off. We ended up in Batavia and had a great meal at Tusk. What a shame, after eating here 3-4 times per month for the last decade we will never go back. Now we drive past Bangkok Restaurant on our way to Tusk. I know this is not a food review but good service makes everything taste better. Honestly, I would have given them 3 stars for their food. Now with zero stars for service the average is a whopping 1!

The food here is absolutely phenomenal. I come here about once a week, because I crave it so much- the vegetables, meat, rice, everything is so fresh!! The owners and waitress are the sweetest people. I mentioned once how much I love the straw mushrooms in the entree I order and she gave me a huge jar to take home with me and didn't charge me for it! They get all their vegetables from the fresh produce market in Chicago. On top of everything else, its BYOB, so my boyfriend and I bring a bottle or two of wine and have a blast. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE :)

    (5)
  • Craig R.

The food here is excellent. The place is small - maybe 6-8 tables? We went and there were 2 tables with about 6-7 people each and it was a little loud (6 people - 8 bottles of wine you figure it out). The service was ok - not overly friendly but quick and efficient. The food is the highlight though. The prices are inexpensive and the portions generous. The place is BYOB as other reviewers mentioned and it is busy almost all of the time. If you like Thai food you should check this out if you are nearby.

Went there with a colleague from work today. They have whole fried snapper and it was delicious. Service was a little slow but they are friendly and helpful. Fried rice was a little salty but not bad for a small burb out west of Chicago

Awesome place. Delicious Tom soup, and all of our dinners were great as well. Quiet and comfortable place. Service was fast and nice and a great location right by the river. I highly recommend this place when you are in the area.

  • Kelli C.

I was pretty disappointed with my overall experience here. They seemed to have decent reviews on yelp so I decided to give Bangkok a try. I ordered the Pad Se Ew, which is a staple dish that I always try at previous Thai restaurants. The sauce did not have the sweetness that it should and the chicken was very dry and tough! Although my friend who ordered the pad thai thought it was good, but she said she's had better. I was not impressed by the food or the atmosphere. The restaurant is very small and the tables are quite close together. While the prices are very affordable, I would not go back.

For everyone saying something bad about this place obviously doesn't know good food. This place is the BEST for Thai food. I have literally been going here my whole life. Great food, authentic and amazing owners. It's a great little mom and pop restaurant. If you want great Thai food go here!

  • Tom R.

My favorite Thai restaurant. Family owned, great food, great prices. Bring your own bottle of wine. We have eaten here more often than any other place in town. Nam Sod is fantastic, Pad Thai is great. Number 19 soup is fantastic. Number 49 is also great.

  • Joe V.

This place is decent for the price. I keep going back but only because it's convenient and close to home. The overall dining is sub-par but like I said the food is good and I like to support family owned and operated locations.

My first return to Bangkok after 7 years was a completely wonderful surprise! The food is wonderful, the staff attentive and the prices are very fair. MUCH better than the Thai place down the street. (In case you're deciding on which one to visit.) While the ambiance is nothing to write home about, the food more than makes up for this shortcoming. BYOB is a refreshing change of pace. Highly recommended!

My parents live in St. Charles, and literally every time I go home, Bangkok House is a must. The service is great, they know us and our orders and are great at suggesting new plates for us to try. We tend to stick with the #38- shrimp and noodles in a clay pot. I got #37 last time which was a seafood combo and it was fantastic.

The word "Restaurant" at the top of the menu page is mispelled - for what it's worth.

Geneva is becoming overrun by sprawl and strip malls. Whenever I come back to visit, I make sure to limit most of my activities to downtown Geneva because the merchants are worth supporting, appreciative and proud of their businesses. Bangkok is worthy of a visit whether you're enjoying Geneva for a day or are a resident of the tri-cities. Jason S. (see below) and I have eaten here together many times over the years. Bangkok is phenomenal and better than any Thai place I've tried in the city. This restaurant is run by flat out wonderful people who make incredible Thai food. BYOB and share one with the owners while you're there.

This is my favorite local Thai place. BYOB, great appetizers, excellent vegetable curry. The waitress always remembers my order, and makes sure it's extra spicy for me. Overall, a great place to get your Thai fix.

  • steve h.

Bangkok Restaurant used to be my favorite Thai place, with really authentic (according to my Thai friend) food that tastes wonderful. Service was always fair but food and value made up for that easily. I ate there every couple months, would have more but it is slightly out of my way. What ruined it for me was the obvious (and growing) lack of cleanliness and the baby's potty-training toilet seat kept in the dinning room - and used frequently. Ew! By now they're probably potty trained but a restaurant that doesn't get that fundamental ick factor and cooks in a kitchen I cannot see isn't getting my business. I really miss the food, but just can't get past the hygiene issues.

  • Frank C.

We love this friendly little place. We love Thai food, and found this authentic place while trying a few of the new "yuppy-ish" Thai restaurants that open and close. The owners and cooks are all Thai, and they say the food is authentic to the country, not American-ized. I don't know, but I DO know I love it! From Thai iced tea, spring rolls, soups and beef salad (Yum Nuea is THE best!) through all the different rice and noodle dishes and curry-favored meals, we can't get enough of it. Prices are very reasonable; everything's cooked to order and amount of "heat" you want. Seating is limited and the place is very busy evenings. BYOB.

  • Erin R.

Went to Bangkok for my birthday celebration (party of 5). Everyone really liked their food. We had chicken sate, eggrolls, and shrimp rolls for appetizers and I had the green curry w/ shrimp for dinner. All were very tasty. Love the BYOB!

I'm anything but a Thai food fanatic, but I have to say, this place is very good. My wife loves Thai, so if I'm looking to make her happy I'll agree to do takeout here. On occasion we BYOB and sit down here, but usually take out. I've been told by people who have visited and spent time in Thailand that this is the real deal.

Bangkok Thai is /the/ place for Thai food in Illinois. I've eaten thai at a few of the other places in Geneva, Batavia, St. Charles, Chicago, and the quad cities, and I have not found a place to rival Bangkok in Geneva. The food is so incredibly delicious, fresh, well seasoned, served family-style, and you get large portions. You won't pay outrageous prices either. The interior is classy, and there is no pretentiousness with the owners or the wait staff. The wait staff is relatively small compared to many other places serving that many customers at once (they are usually full with 30 to 40 people on the weekends), but we really don't mind waiting a little longer from time to time for some service elements because the service is done with graciousness and done correctly, plus they remember all the regulars. They personally greet us and smile, they ask about the latest in our lives, and they remember which things we like the best and how we like them customized. They don't waste time with a dessert menu, and their thai iced coffee and thai iced tea offerings really deliver on taste and strength. BT is packed (with people waiting to be seated) on the weekends, loaded during weekday lunches, and does brisk take-out business. There is ample parking all around. Leave your tip in cash, but you can pay with cash, credit, or debit.

I'm going to try and remain reserved on this but just know: this is absolutely the best thai restaurant in the chicago area. Everything they make is complete perfection. Any time I'm out that way I order the spicy basil fried rice with tofu. I don't eat many fried rice dishes but this one is indescribable. The curry dishes are fantastic as well. Everything about this restaurant is unbelievably good, plus the owners are probably the nicest restaurant staff I've ever encountered. They'll really do whatever it takes to make sure you enjoy what you've ordered. I can't recommend this place enough.

Spring rolls just ok. Pad Thai noodles served almost cold and lacking flavor. Will not be coming back.

    (2)
  • Andy G.

Needless to say I was very surprised at how many people rated this establishment so highly. I do not recommend the curry. It has too much Annis in it. The rest of the menu items are average. I gave it two stars because back in the late 80's when it was the only game in town, it was better than not having Thai food. I do go here on rare occasions and still find it to be average.

    (2)
  • Neel V.

I came here for lunch today with a coworker. I had the Pad See Ew which was without a doubt one of the best Thai noodle dishes I have ever had. I asked for it spicy and the dish packed some heat, but not enough to make it overpowering or overwhelm the other flavors in the dish. The chinese broccoli was fresh and the noodles were perfect- just cooked through but still with a bit of chewiness. I expect this place to be a frequent lunch destination!

  • Amy H.

The staff was nice enough, but the food simply fell short of expectation. Unfortunately, our favorite Thai restaurant just closed, and we are in search of a replacement. This is not it.

  • Jessica G.

Pros-cooked fresh and quick! Cons-no lunch specials (like entree with rice and spring roll) Will not take debit/credit for under $15 Food is ok-I've had better and worse. Ordered a curry to go. $10 for the medium, round deli type container. Rice is extra which is lame because who eats spicy curry without rice to soak up all the sauce? No reason to go back with so many other restaurants within 100 feet.

Fantastic. Go. Lovely family business. Fresh ingredients, great value, love the spice, great quality meal. GO!! Moved back to the area recently, so glad they're still in town and my favorite dish (chicken and coconut milk, med red curry) is as flavorful as I recalled.

  • John B.

Okay, I've never dined in here, but the takeout is amazing, the people who own it/work there are fantastic, and we have no complaints. Sure, some dishes vary a bit from time to time, but it's all fresh, it's all delicious, and it's all we want when we crave Thai food. The Mussamun curry is particularly tasty as is the Nuea Yahng (appetizer).

  • James C.

Dirtiest kitchen I've ever seen! Bowl of raw chicken floating in water right under a filthy fan vent that has dirt and grease hanging down about 12 inches. If you've ever seen Restaurant Impossible, then think of the filthiest kitchen ever shown and this will top it. Absolutely Disgusting!!! We walked out after about 1 minute.

  • Guillermo P.

I just went here for lunch and I was NOT expecting to have to pay $20! Only after a party of people had gotten their bill, the waitress said that there was a $15 minimum! I don't like to carry cash and had already ordered an $8 plate of rice (which had almost no flavor), so after I finished I had to order another plate of food for carry-out. I feel like the prices are reasonable but make sure that you have cash on you if you are ordering anything under $15. I also think that they should clean the ceiling vents every so often, nobody likes to eat while looking at caked dust stuck on a ceiling vent. I can really only see myself going back if a group of people that I am with are insisting on eating there for either lunch or dinner.

We go to/get take-out from Bangkok Restaurant quite a bit. The food is average - it won't knock your socks off with its deliciousness, but it can satisfy your craving for Thai food. The menu features a good many options, including Tod mun Pla (fish cakes) which can be a bit tricky to find in these parts (that includes Chicago as well). I enjoy their soups very much and would recommend both the Tom Yum Goong and Tom Ka Gai. However, their Pad Thai is a bit lacking in flavor, and makes me long for Ma and I in the South Loop. As some reviewers have noted, the ambiance at this restaurant is seriously lacking. It feels like a hole in the wall, which can make you unnecessarily question the cleanliness of the restaurant. Quite often, an older woman sits at the front of the restaurant watching movies and television programs loudly (in Thai). I wish they would take a cue from Bien Trucha or Chez Moi, both of which understand the concept of theme decor. That being said, if you're looking for Thai food, Bangkok Thai is probably as good as you're going to get in the suburbs.

Best, most authentic Thai food in town. The food is great, they set the standard for good Thai restaurants. Their prices are also very reasonable, and have not gone up in the years that I have been going here. This location is perfect, right downtown in Geneva. It is the ideal place to get lunch after spending the day walking third street. The owners are also very nice. Just fyi, they do not serve liquor here, but they do not mind if you bring your own.

  • Emily H.

A little restaurant that is a big-time contender when it comes to flavor. The Panang curry and Tom Kha soup are respectable in spice and creamy texture. The Pad Thai has a good balance of sweet and savory. The Thai coffee is from a carton, but still sweet and caffeinated. Worth a re-visit.

  • Katherine V.

Ahh... another one of my favorite Thai places to go! What can I say, I LOVE Thai!! Great authentic food and love that you can customize the amount of spice on their dishes and I'm a spicy kind of girl.. Lol The place is tiny but service is great and I'm a big fan of seeing grandma in the kitchen cooking so you can't get any more authentic than that! Again just my observation; seems to be the smaller the place the better the food?! This restaurant and the one in Warrenville-Somsri Thai are both on point with the flavor but just need a little more push on the ambiance. I'm heading to Tusk next to compare... Stay tuned!

This used to be one of my favorite place, I still frequent it, but the food isn't that amazing anymore. The service is still great and they appreciate regulars but their competition has them beat on taste. I would now recommend Vino Thai over Bangkok.

Found this spot by accident when we were in Geneva for something else but needed to eat lunch. The restaurant is small and has a family ownership feel - do not be put off by the noisy tv programs, just tune them out. The food was excellent. I had the fried tofu appetizer with cucumber and crushed peanuts. This was some of the best fried tofu I've had - dense, flavorful with a nice crust, but not greasy at all. My entree was tofu with spicy peppers, straw mushrooms, Thai basil and onions. The dish was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of heat to order - I went with medium heat - and again nothing was greasy or drowning in sauce. My other half had spicy seafood soup to start and the Pad See Eew with chicken. He said they were both wonderful with loads of flavor and the right amount of spice. We would definitely go again - the food is well worth a repeat visit.

Went last night for date night with my wife and two month old son. Food was great and the place was very busy for a Sat night. It's BYOB and we brought a bottle of wine and ate our entrees for $25. Will definitely go back. Decor is a little old and run down but you can tell this place is authentic by the family who runs it

I hadn't had good Pad Thai in a long time and we went to Bangkok's for the first time and theirs really hit the spot! Funky little, casual, family run spot. We are looking forward to going back and trying some more dishes!!

I ate here on Friday with my husband and son. The first thing I noticed was that the folks at the host station / pay station were kind of startled when we walked up. We had to spell out, "Hi, we are here to...eat." That was the main odd thing. The food was pretty good. Spring rolls for appetizer. Tasted fresh. We had #26 and #30 for entrees. My most favorite was the deep fried noodle in #30. I've never tasted anything like it. Really enjoyed it. The night ended with a sweet note, when one of the ladies who worked there came up to our table and gave our son (who is a year and a half old) a chocolate candy. I thought that was a nice personal touch.

We had a craving for Thai food and didn't want to make the longer drive so decided to give this place a try. The portions are small for the price. The Phad Thai noodles were hard to chew (like chewing gummy bears) and the taste was nothing worth mentioning. The Phad king sauce was bland and beef was ruff. Thai tea was too sweet and comes in a small glass filled top to bottom with ice. As for the service the overall responsiveness of the wait staff was poor and not very attentive. This was our first time eating here and unfortunately will be our last.

This is a decent Thai restaurant. The service ranges from a little above average to a little below average, the food is a little too salty, and they tend to overcook tofu a little, but there's a lot of variety on the menu and the staff is always on top of refills. They make the pad si eaw with bean sauce rather than a sweet soy sauce, so if this the style you prefer, you should try this dish here. The dishes that feature sweet chili sauce are also pretty good--they balance the heat of the chilis with the sweetness of the sauce very well. Unfortunately, they don't have a desert menu, but they do give you a Thai fortune cookie with the check. If this was in Chicago or even Des Plaines, I probably would pass it over, but since it's the only Thai food around here and they do a decent job, I've been here a few times and will probably be back again. If you come from out of town, do note that the parking spaces out front are diagonal, and it's BYOB here.

I was slightly disappointed with Bangkok Restaurant. I grew up in the area and was in town for the weekend and had a craving for Thai. I met two friends here, no wait for a table and it's BYOB which was great, looks like everyone dining there took full advantage and brought wine or beer with them, no corkage fee. Seems like there is a family running the restaurant with only one working waitress taking orders and grandparents and teenagers busing tables and refilling waters. So service was a little slow. I ordered the pad thai with chicken and found it to be very dry and not a lot of flavor. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was great so I probably wouldn't return. Not sure how it compares to other Thai places in the area but it does not hold a candle to other places I've been to outside of the Fox Valley.

The most positive that can be said is that this place has okay food. I hope the owners realize that the dining experience is more than being served Thai food. We ate lunch there late one day. I asked my wife if we should leave. We opted to stay. So we had a two star meal. The movie playing on a personal DVD player of someone related to the restaurant added to the ambiance. Go next door to the Mexican restaurant. They've got it right--music playing, enjoyable food and attentive wait-staff. That's what we did the next day.

This restaurant has always impressed me on many levels. Let's start with the restaurant itself. The decor inside is simple but that's not always bad. It offers enough of a Thai atmosphere to make you feel more connected with their food. The room is generally small so it seems louder than it really is, but it's not too loud where you have trouble enjoying your meal. The customer service is excellent. The owners and employees are from Thailand and English is their second language. They speak English very well, but if you have a hard time understanding each other be patient with them. They are very kind and welcoming. If you are a frequent customer they usually offer you some kind of incentive to come back; usually free spring rolls with every visit along with a warm welcome and farewell. The food is amazing period. No matter what you order it is always guaranteed to be delicious and the food is served quickly. The chefs are very skilled in making the Thai dishes on the menu. The menu may seem generally small, but this allows the chefs to prepare and cook the food very well. If you cannot handle a lot of spice in your food, they ask how spicy you want your food. Honestly, the spice makes the food in some of their dishes. If you have a hard time handling spice, I suggest looking for a peanut sauce based dish. The Pad Thai is a peanut sauce based noodle dish and it is one of my favorite items on the menu. If you have the extra money, try one of Bangkok's specialty drinks. The Thai Iced Coffee is extremely delicious, just be sure to mix it. Overall, this restaurant is always a guaranteed excellent choice. The customer service is superb, the food is well prepared and cooked, and the atmosphere is modest but intimate. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will be returning frequently.

By no means a Thai food connoisseur, this place hits the spot. Avid orderer of Pad Thai with tofu. Actually, I've never branched out from there. Small place, seems difficult for large groups to receive good service. Finally, the portions they give you are so large that you will have food f o r e v e r. Yum.

This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant. I have been coming here for more than 8 years. Favorite is #47 with chicken medium spicyness. It is a great healthy/delicious option for take out. The family that runs it is so sweet. Go there now! Don't wait!

Used to frequent this place often and thought the food was pretty good. Service is sometimes too slow and if it's busy, then it's really slow because they do only seem to have one gal taking orders. Normally, before today, I'd give this restaurant 4 stars, but I CANNOT STAND when I go into a business and they ask me if I have cash instead of paying with a debit/credit card. If you want to sneak money under the table and not report it to the IRS or if you don't want to pay the credit card transaction fees, then don't offer to take cards AT ALL. I rarely have cash on me and I have certainly used my debit card here in the past, so when I went in today I was really mad that they even ask me if I have cash. Bye-Bye, Bangkok.

Love Bangkok!!! The food is always good. I just wish they would update the place or at least give it a good cleaning. Its a great hole in the wall type of restaurant. If you go here, it is not a state of the art facility. only giving 4 stars because of the atmosphere. LOVE the food and service!!!

Ahh... another one of my favorite Thai places to go!

Small place but amazing food. Family owned and operated. I dream about their Tom Ka Gai soup. It's a coconut based soup flavored with galingale root and lime juice. It has chicken, and mushrooms in it as well. This is my comfort food, and you can get as spicy as you want!

Byob. Excellent food, family owned. What's not to love? People flock here from all destinations the food is that good. Love the # 53, order it hot and get ready for a firestorm of flavors in you mouth. Lad Nar is outstanding.

Went there with a colleague from work today. They have whole fried snapper and it was delicious. Service was a little slow but they are friendly and helpful. Fried rice was a little salty but not bad for a small burb out west of Chicago

My favorite Thai restaurant. Family owned, great food, great prices. Bring your own bottle of wine. We have eaten here more often than any other place in town. Nam Sod is fantastic, Pad Thai is great. Number 19 soup is fantastic. Number 49 is also great.

BYOB.
