Before I write this review I have to admit that I'm totally biased. I've been ordering pizza from Roberto's for the last 27 years. I've never had a bad pizza in all that time! And, while I like the atmosphere of the restaurant, I'm not a fan of the non-pizza entrees. My wife disagrees, she likes the Chicken Marsala, and she always tells me not to order the fish, which I always do, and I'm always disappointed. You'd think I would learn! In any case, back to why I think this is the best pizza place in town. Because, I always compare all other pizza places to Roberto's, it's the denominator in my pizza formula. Don't take my word for it. Order a pizza and go in to pick it up. Look in the back and you'll see like twenty people working in the kitchen. I'm not the only one who loves it. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Yelp.

Honestly, after reading some of the reviews I was hesitant to go but it was Mother's' Day and my mom really likes Roberto's. Why would we travel out to Elmhurst when there are so many amazing Italian restaurants closer to home in the city? I really enjoy well-prepared quality fish and would definitely describe myself as a fish snob so I was going to order pasta because surely, this suburban restaurant wouldn't have quality fish. I was WRONG on both accounts. The waiter, a friendly, very knowledgeable Italian man assured me that the fish was very fresh and very good. I rolled the dice and went with his recommendation, the branzino. It was amazing. Perfectly prepared with a light seasonings and olive oil. Very light and flavorful accompanied by a small salad which perfectly complimented the flavor of the fish. My sister order the Halibut which was equally good. My nephew order the grilled seafood platter which was very generous and delicious. Given the quality of the seafood. The prices were appropriate. I definitely plan on going back.

Where does one begin? With a waitress who greets you with no smile, some mutterings, and after that, it all falls apart. My husband and I ordered the special, dover sole, one of our favorites. I didn't think it was possible that anyone could torture a poor fish like that....it was rubbery and had to be cut with a knife. After one mouthful, we decided we wouldn't put ourselves through any further agony. Let me go back a few minutes, when the busboy came to our table to give us some water, he spilled our melted butter all over our settings. Instead of reseating us, a few napkins were put over the spill which seeped through. After informing our waitress we didn't want the sole, she did a quick spin saying as she was leaving, "I'm getting the manager." Now the entire dining room was aware of our situation which was causing a scene. I guess she didn't have the authority to handle the situation herself. Here comes the smiling manager (I'm saying this sarcastically). I am assuming his intention was to intimidate us. Oh, please! He informed us that he has served over 80 dover dinners this past week, implying that these poor diners enjoyed it. We then ordered the branzino filets which was served with crispy skin; however, there was an abundance of scales which made the otherwise tasty skin inedible. In addition, the filets had bones, indicative of careless preparation. No need to go any further. It was an extremely upsetting experience and will let our friends and family know to stay away. What a poor taste this restaurant leaves in my palate. Bad service, bad attitude and really bad food. All this and high prices, too.

Had a wonderfully relaxing lunch here today sitting on the patio. The Cheese Ravioli and side of Meatballs were both outstanding! The texture and taste of the Meatballs reminded me of my mothers. Get to Roberto's in Elmhurst, sit outside and enjoy homemade Italian food the way it should be made, without any shortcuts.

To say that last nights dinner was the worst dining experience I have ever had is an understatement! Eight people, outside, had to leave the place without their dinner, after two hours of waiting and after several complaints to the manager and the waiter. The frustration level was very high. The manger said the owner would buy us an after dinner drink. We said we are still waiting for our dinners! There was no explanation about the issue of dead service, NOTHING! Good luck to those of you who want a crap shoot for a dinner! Also sausage and peppers is one link of sausage sliced less than 1" thick with peppers! WHEW and GOOD BYE I wish there was a possible ZERO score here Mike D

Wanna love Roberto's since I am an Elmhurst resident and this place has been here forever but I am sick and tired of being disappointed over and over again. They just never get it right.....even when we carry-out. I agree with the many other reviews about the bad service and arrogant owners. The last time I went there to pick up my pizza, their lobby was filled with pissed-off customers who were waiting for their over-due pizzas. Pizzas and dinners were literally stacked up behind the counter going cold as people stood there. IDK how this place has survived all of the years here. To make matters even worse, they forgot to include our bruschetta in the bag. Done. Finito. No Mas.

To list some positives first, the food was great, came out fast, and tasted amazing but as I've read on some other reviews, our waitress was a complete redneck... Here we are surrounded by a bunch of very friendly Italian men as waitors andddddd 1 random hick. She brought us some sort of special "dipping sauce" for our bread when all we asked for us olive oil and cheese and ever worse, when we said we wanted the check she asked us why we were leaving so soon. Kind of strange... besides her the service was great. Our plates were taken from us right when we finished. The busboys were very attentive, always filling our glasses when they were empty. The bartender talked to us briefly when we walked in and the hostess was lovely. Overall the experience was great except for our waitress.

There must be a balance, if your food is very expensive as Roberto's is you must provide quality meal and excellent service in accommodating surroundings. I like the layout, it's clean and classy, grilled calamari was good, pasta was OK, nothing to rave about. Service was surprisingly awful, if you can find any more arrogant staff I would like to see it. At first we have a bus boy mumbling something under his breath that left me with the impression he didn't speak English but after all I think he just hasn't learned any manners. Waitress behaved and acted like a straight up redneck with edgy attitude, definitely won't be coming back.

Where to start? Went their a few weeks ago for my wife's birthday dinner, the waiter arrogant and snippy. The food was far from great. My wife ordered Risotto and it was hard as a rock with no flavor very bland basically tasteless. We sent it back and by the time the waiter offered to get her something to replace it everyone was getting fed up with the service and the waiter. My wife was fed up and wanted to leave. The owners wife was at a table next to us with a couple, obviously friends and was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. So the waiter brings out a piece of cake with a candle and was trying to be nice. Needless to say we passed on dessert paid the bill and tipped the waiter accordingly to his service. As for going back, I would say probably not.

Pretty good pizza, but terribly overpriced. Since we started going there a year ago they've raised their already high prices by an extra $4 per pizza. It's pizza - everyone else can figure out how to make it without charging so much - why can't they? They generously offer a $1 off coupon though in most Elmhurst publications - thanks, Roberto's!

I think one star is being generous. I gave this place several chances to wow me, and to put it simply, it fell way, way short. The service is awful. Stuck up people with zero sense of humor and when one server was delivering our food he was actually looking over us out the window. Then when you get the check you better have a bank loan. What a complete and total rip off for what your getting. The quality is, at very best, average and the quantity is poor. When you charge like your downtown Chicago, the food had better wow you. It was far from wowing. I sure don't get why it get so crowded because it's average food at downtown prices. But at least downtown the food is great. It's a shame because we live here and would love to support local businesses but the owner here is way out of his mind. You are definitely better served somewhere else.

Just got home from picking up a small cheese & sausage pizza. I was going to order from Rosati's, but I thought I'd try Roberto's one more time. The pizza simple didn't have any flavor to it, not in the sauce, not in the sausage and not in the cheese. Pizzas from Rosati's do have flavor. You can see the seasoning in the cheese. Very disappointing-

There is no doubt this a 4+ star restaurant when in comes to taste and quality of food. Some of the best in or near Elmhurst. The service and general attitude is a huge turn-off though. I have dealt with the Matriarch (not sure if it is Mom, daughter, sister, pure owner or what?) as a patron, a vendor, a solicitor, and just an Elmhurstian and at no point was she ever pleasant. Her nasty attitude has rubbed off on the younger daughters/cousins/ nieces to the point...the only time I will eat Roberto's is if someone else is picking it up. I have a really hard time pulling cash out of my wallet and giving it to folks who are so unapologetic about their snippy attitudes. Don't be afraid to give this place a try but be ready to feel just a bit dirty that you hand over hard earned wages to folks that believe you owe them something for just unlocking the doors!

They serve very good thin crust pizza and homemade pasta. If we are in the area we will get a pizza to go. When we entered the dining room recently it changed to an uptight restaurant I couldn't afford to bring kids to. The dining room used to be nice neighborhood place, but now the prices are very high. I have to give them only three stars because we would only consider them for take out.

The service, the food and the ambiance was great. I have been there numerous times and really never had any criticisms that were negative. Just a good time. If you have a crowd, it is even more fun. We were there on numerous occasions with 10 or more and boy did we have a great time.

Second to worst pizza I have ever had in my life and I've eaten a lot of pizzas! We ordered delivery tonight. A large pizza, Caesar salad, and tiramisu. It arrived room temperature, bland and tasted like it was cooked four hours ago. I called to let them know how awful it was, the only thing they would offer was another pizza as a replacement that would probably taste the same and take another hour to arrive! Horrible. At $40 I would expect more. I feel like I got ripped off and I'm still hungry!! Only reason for 2 stars is the delivery guy was at least pleasant.

This is the pizza of my childhood. Every birthday I would get this pizza and nearly every weekend. Now that I live more than a thousand miles away it is sad I don't get it very often. But when I go home for my birthday I still get an 18" sausage thin crust and will for as many birthdays as I get!

Hadn't been for a while and definitely time to update my review. Today was the first time I have ever been here for lunch. Our server was very attentive but then there was only one other couple in the restaurant. There were lunch specials, don't know if they will carry over to dinner specials. We were able to completely hear each other, no competition, and the TV was on in the bar area, so we had that dining room completely to ourselves. Server checked frequently if we needed anything and we found our entrees to be rather tasty. The only negative about the experience, the ladies comfort station was set at meat locker temperature. BBBBRRRRRRRRRR.

I'm not big on writing reviews, I'm more of a reader...however, I must express to the next 'reader' why they should not go to Roberto's! It was my birthday last week, so we were set for a nice dinner, our hopes of having one at Roberto's was dashed! Upon entering, we stood for nearly 5 minutes before being acknowledged, despite the fact that there were 3 people working at the bar where there were no customers and it's located right inside the doors! Upon being rudely greeted, we were marched one direction, then another before they attempted to seat us in the corner at a ridiculously small table, meanwhile the restaurant was nearly empty. I asked for another table before sitting down, when the 'guy' grunted, turned, slammed the stack of menus on the corner of another table and marched off. The next rude employee shows up to take our drink order, only to return and almost intentionally spills an entire glass of soda on my son. We move to another table after that scene and are handed the soaking wet menus! Are you kidding me?? As we get up to leave, the next 'guy' chases us to the door to explain the 'accident'. I certainly understand accidents, they happen, but really? Then another 'guy' refuses to allow me to talk to a manager. This was our first and undoubtedly our last visit to Roberto's! And we just moved here!

This review is strictly for the pizza. My expectations were high after hearing from more than one person that this was the best pizza in town. We ordered a thin crust for delivery and it arrived in the time given. The crust was thin and crispy, but everything else about the pizza was very average. Less than what we expected but still decent so with that I submit that it was A-OK.

Tried Roberto's for lunch today & was disappointed. The only reason they aren't getting 1 star is because the food was very good & their outdoor patio area is quite nice. My coworkers & I stepped inside & apparently the only server working the lunch shift was standing at a computer across the bar area entering an order - we stood there for several minutes without so much as a glance up to greet us or say "I'll be right with you." We are seated on the patio & look over the menu, wondering what the daily specials are since there are 3 different items on the menu which are "of the day" (Soup, Risotto & the Panini). The server comes back with our beverages & asked if we are ready to order. My coworker says no & asked what the Panini of the Day is. The server states what it is and starts to walk away. "No, wait, what about the Risotto of the Day?" I didn't bother to stop her a third time to ask what the Soup of the Day was. Geesh. It's not like they were slammed busy, either. It was our group of 4 and 2 other couples in the whole place. I guess they only have pizza for dinner because there wasn't any pizza on the lunch menus we were given. My coworkers each ordered the ravioli and I had the vegetable lasagna. In comparison to other Italian restaurants we should have received double the amount of food for the price. $11 for 5 raviolis? All of us cleaned our plates & this is a group that normally takes half their food home. The lunches don't come with a small salad or soup, either - just a basket of bread & garlic butter (which was good). They have a different dinner menu so I'm sure the portions are larger then. Since there are plenty of other Italian places around for lunch with twice the food for the same price we won't be coming back.

We celebrated my granddaughter's christening there on 04/12/2015. About 70 people were in attendance. The food choices were excellent!!! The professional waitstaff attended to your every need. The owner consistently walked through the room to be sure everything was perfect. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and pizza for appetizers. Next came the spring mix salad with a lite balsamic dressing. The two pasta choices of ... rigatoni in vodka sauce along with the farfalle with sun-dried tomatoes, walnuts in a white cream sauce were perfectly cooked al dente!! The main course of chicken breast covered with a blanket of prosciutto and cheese in a white wine reduction sauce was to die for!! It complimented well with the roasted potato wedges and the medley of steamed seasonal vegetables. Kevin was our busboy and did a great job!! This was my first time here and I will definitely be back very soon!! Thank you everyone for making my 1st granddaughter's Christening Day an event we will remember for years to come!!! Grazie' Tutti

THE RESTAURANT It's a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny. My wife and I don't have much money with which to go out, but when we do, we often choose Roberto's though it stretches our budget a bit. It's the best Italian I've ever had. The service has, at times, been a little slow when they've been operating at full service, but we never mind; it's a great place to relax and just enjoy date night. The rotolo alla rossini is my all-time favorite Italian dish, and their carpaccio is one of our all-time favorites too (the summer special carpaccio being possibly the best). The entree specials we've ordered have been fantastic, and my wife loves anything with their vodka sauce. I highly recommend. It's better than Francesca Amici's, that's for sure. THE PIZZA When I met my wife, she said Roberto's was the only pizza she and her family orders really. I was, of course, skeptical. Then I had it. It's fantastic. For thin crust, I personally haven't found anything that's better.

Had a great dinner at Robertos last night. We had a large party of 10, and it was 7:00 on a Saturday night, and we were seated promptly. Our party included five kids, and the waitstaff was very patient with the resulting chaos. Our waiter was very good about suggesting entree possibilities for the kids. The whole evening was lovely -- our group ordered wine, appetizers, and main courses, and everything was delicious and brought promptly and efficiently. The food was all very well-prepared and yummy. Overall, a really nice evening thanks to this restaurant.

The food is good but unfortunately the service is horrible. I had to order several pounds of roast beef to be delivered to my job to feed the staff a few days before Christmas. The roast beef was delivered cold...never heated. Ummm...we dont have an oven at work. The girl on the phone said she would have hot gravy delivered, on cold roast beef? I spoke to the manager/owner and he made sure he sent a tray of hot roast beef. I was happy....until. I ordered a pound of hot roast beef and 2 loafs of bread as well as other dinners, delivered to my home. The bread was not delivered. I called said they would send the driver back with the bread....almost 20 min later, no bread. ..cold food. They are crediting me the bread. How do you eat roast beef sandwiches with no bread. I will never order from them again.

Wish I could give zero stars. Over an hour wait for our reservation and not even we're sorry. Once at table over 10 minutes before our waiter came over. Good was very good, waiter tried his best to make up for hostess with bad attitude. Will not be rushing back that is for sure.

WOW. My husband and I had made reservations in advance for Valentine's Day. When we arrived, we could barely get in the door. It took my husband about 5 minutes to wade through the mass of people to get to the hostess. When he checked in, she told him it would be at least an hour wait!!!!!! With reservations!!!??? We left, as did several others that had been given reservations in vain. Had we just walked in without reservations, I could understand waiting an hour plus for a table. Why do they bother taking reservations?! We ended up going to another restaurant in downtown Elmhurst and had a wonderful meal with great service - Pazzi Di Pizza. I do not think we will be back to try Roberto's .

Good food, but seems like it is over priced. I went there last night. It was good. but a dinner for two and a couple of glasses of wine and the bill was about $100. I would rather go elsewhere for a $100 meal and there are lots of good Italian restaurants where I can pasta, chicken and wine for less.

Two stars because the review is a combination vote. I stopped in and sat in the bar and ordered pizza. Simple think-crust with a few toppings. Food was good. I would give the pizza a five. Salad was drenched in dressing so maybe only three or four there. But it was tasty. The waiter gets a zero. Which he was. I sat at the table for quite some time before he even showed up. Has to ask a bus boy to find him. When I told the waiter I only wanted pizza and no wine (Had a business meeting to attend) he was truly bored with me. The only two times I saw him later was when I personally flagged him down. Inattentive service, but good pizza... = 2. If you want the pizza, do carry out instead and avoid the head-case waiter.

My boyfriend and I came for this past Valentines day and it's probably the WORST service I've ever received. The hostess didn't even look at us and appeared to be in a horrible mood, we were seated at a middle table where servers were constantly running past us not acknowledging us while almost knocking into us, and after waiting about 15min we finally had to flag a server down to get attention. We were treated extremely rudely and needless to say we got up and left our Valentines Day Dinner after about a half hour of little to no service being treated rudely. Judging by other reviews I would say the food is probably good, but I wouldn't know because the service is so terrible. Hire new employees! The only reason I'm giving it a star is because the atmosphere was very nice and of the possible good food. I would NOT recommend this restaurant what so ever unless you enjoy horrible service.

Friday night and it was date night with the hubby, so we decided to go to Roberto's. It had been awhile since we were there and we've always enjoyed the food. I had a hard time deciding what to order with all the wonderful things on the menu. We started out with calamari which was very good. Hubby ordered the quail which was one of the specials. I ordered the Raviolini All 'Aragosta which is mini lobster stuffed ravioli with baby lobster tails in a vodka cream sauce. I also ordered a caesar salad since I love their caesar dressing. Dinner was excellent. The waiter was very attentive yet not over-bearing. The waiter brought a little cake with a candle to the gentleman celebrating a birthday at the table near ours. He then joined the family in a quiet song of "happy birthday". It was done very nicely without being loud and embarrassing. We left there full, with leftovers and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

I took Roberto's for granted! We just recently moved outside of their delivery area and we dearly miss their most delectable pizza! I could, literally eat half of a large thin crust by myself - it is that good! Their crust, sauce and toppings ratio is absolute perfection. This is the best pizza I have had in Illinois. I guess now I'll have to drive a few extra miles to satisfy my craving for excellent pizza! If you have never had their pizza and you live close by, you simply must give them a try!

Excellent food and service. Old school italian that has been here for many years and very consistent. Had the crostini special and soft shell crab. Both cooked perfectly as well as the salad and other dishes I tried. Huge menu but not overwhelming and prices were reasonable for the type of food and atmosphere. Gotta come here again soon.

Went here for lunch and the service was excellent. The bread that comes before the meal was fresh and had declious butter with it. The calamari was a little chewy but still tasted really good with a delicious breading. For my main course I had the Flouder which was excellent! I still keep thinking about that Flounder because it was so good!

Not a fan! Attitude stinks, food good, service fair at best. Can't order pizza on weekends or in the dinning room. Turning away business. Not a friendly place! pricey compared to other places in the area. Will not be back for a while--gave it several chances!!

Oh Roberto's, you had such promise. An elegant interior, nice wine glasses, and all the other trimmings of upscale dining welcome you to the antithesis of upscale. As this is one of my traditionally long-winded write-ups, here's a summary for the attention disorder set: wait staff is on glue, bussers do a fine job, food may or may not be edible, soup's good, steal the steak knives, eat elsewhere. Our group of about 20 were seated in a back room off the bar, near the kitchen entrance. Delightful surroundings got our hopes up for a similarly delightful meal. The problems started almost instantly, though. The only part of the experience that happened in a timely fashion was the delivery of the check. 1. Bread baskets had three small slices of italian bread and a couple of breadsticks. Apparently we were supposed to ration these meager tidings amongst the group. 2. Drink orders were scattershot. Our waitress took a few orders and vanished, only to return a good ten minutes later with no idea of who ordered what. Drink auctions are always fun, never mind the 13 other people waiting for something other than water. 3. Refills on those drinks? Fuhgetaboutit. Ain't happening unless you nag repeatedly. 4. Ordering was as disorganized as the drink orders. Two people took orders, often times asking the same person twice what they wanted, or not knowing who had ordered and who was still waiting. There are two surefire ways to work a table for orders: clockwise and counter-clockwise. 5. One person's pizza order came out *20 minutes* before any other meal. 6. Everyone else's order came out together. They were all hot and accurately placed; a miracle given the sequence in which they were taken. 7. The food was hit-or-miss. Many people loved what they had; I hated the veal. It was salty and the meat extraordinarily tough. Very nice steak knife though; really classy. Seriously! The soups seemed to be universally enjoyed. 8. We sat around forEVER waiting for someone to come clear the plates. We probably would have had coffee and dessert, but none of us wanted to wait another hour to get that process going, so one of our party went to find someone in the bar to summon a server. Finally they showed up and cleared & bagged leftovers. Look, I know as a server you're getting your 18% gratuity because nobody wants to be "that guy" and have it reduced, so you put your attention to other tables. Problem is, you served 4 people who'd been there before and 15 or so who hadn't, and many who will not likely return. This is a Thursday night, at 6:45, folks. If you do choose to go here on a busy night, bring a snack and a flare gun, because chances are you could die in your seat and go unnoticed for a good long time.

Roberto's is a great hometown family restaurant that serves delicious Italian food. I have been many times and have never been disappointed. All of their pasta dishes are very fresh and flavorful. My favorite though is their pizza (which I believe is carry out only). I crave the cheese & sausage thin crust because I can't get anything like it back in Atlanta! Nice thin cracker crust with delicious ingredients! Bon appetit!

super disappointed with this place. have been ordering here for years and never had a problem. lately when I order delivery its super cold and have had the orders messed up. called to speak with a manager who "wasnt there" so I left my info to be called back, and never got a call. called again the next day and all the manager did was argue with me and tell me I told the girl my address wrong, sorry but my phone numbers on file so youre full of shit. terrible customer service and will never order here again. nardis in addison is the best and will get my business from now on.

We ordered a pizza for delivery just after 6pm. We gave our credit card information and asked for an 18" pizza with sausage and mushrooms. The total was $25. The person on the phone said it would arrive in about 40 minutes. About an hour and a half later, we began to wonder where our pizza was. We called just to check on the status, and the girl who answered the phone seemed to know exactly which order we were talking about, and she said the delivery driver should be arriving to our home in 2 minutes. We weren't upset at this point, as these things happen sometimes, people run late, it's alright. As long as the pizza was still hot, we were not concerned about having to wait a little longer for it. But, about 30 minutes later when the pizza STILL hadn't arrived, we decided to call again. This time, I simply wanted to make sure that we weren't going to get an ice cold pizza that was made two hours prior. When I called the second time, the same girl answered the phone. I explained that we had ordered for delivery two hours prior, and she very quickly put me on hold. She came back about a minute and a half later and then asked for the last name. I was put on hold again. About two minutes after that she came back and asked for my phone number and I was then put on hold for a third time. Finally, a gentleman answered the phone and explained to me that the ticket for our pizza was jammed in the printer so the order was never actually started. This was a little irritating, because it means that when I called to check the status the first time, the girl who answered just started making stuff up when she said the driver was almost to our house with the pizza... that was never even started... because the ticket was jammed in the printer... two hours prior... and it somehow went unnoticed.... even after we called to check on it. At this point, I simply asked if we could reverse the credit card payment and forget it. I said that we could easily hop in the car and go pick up some Portillo's and that it wasn't a big deal. The manager insisted that we let him take 50% off the total and that he could have the pizza made in 8 minutes. I asked about how long we were going to have to wait and he promised that we would have the pizza at our door within 15 minutes. After all, we live relatively close to this restaurant. I said fine because I am not typically the type to make things difficult. If he wanted to comp half the order, fine! It would be a hot pizza made fresh and we would still enjoy it. SO! Another HOUR passes and we still do not have our pizza. At this point, we didn't even know what to say when the gentleman arrived. We knew that it was not the driver's fault, and we were more concerned about the awkward transaction that was about to take place when he finally arrived with our pizza three hours after we ordered it... So the guy comes to the door and tells us a completely different total than the original full price, and completely different from the 50% discounted total as discussed with the manager. AND, it was a completely different pizza. Not even our order. It was a small sausage pizza and he told us it was $17. We tried to explain to him that we had just waited 3 hours, and that this wasn't even our pizza. Instead of apologizing, the driver said, "Oh shit. I delivered the wrong pizza." We finally just asked him to take it back with him and forget about it all because we were so frustrated at this point. The driver said no, he couldn't just take the pizza back because he would then have to pay for it and it would come out of HIS check. I explained that we certainly weren't going to pay MORE than the price promised for a pizza that was smaller than the one we ordered and had totally different toppings on it. We were still trying to be kind, and we told him not to worry about it, and he snatched the pizza back and parted with, "No, I AM going to worry about it because this is my fault and I'm going to get in trouble!" and then he sped off in his car. I was just shocked at this point that it was somehow OUR fault because we wouldn't just pay him the $17, take the wrong pizza, and let HIM off the hook for delivering ours to the wrong house. So after the driver sped off, we called the restaurant back to make sure they weren't going to charge our credit card for anything, and the manager who answered said that he had already sent a second driver with our correct pizza and that he should be there in, wait for it, TWO MINUTES! We begged him to just forget about it. We said we did not want the pizza anymore. But he was angry and assured us that it was arriving in seconds. Sure enough, it did arrive, 3 short hours after ordering it. And get this, we PAID for it. It was the 50% off price we discussed, but I would just think that after all of that mess, they'd just let us have the darn thing for free. Best of all, it was cold. Needless to say, we will not be ordering from Roberto's again.

We've been ordering take out pizza from Roberto's for several years and very rarely do we go to the restaurant. But this time we decided to go to the restaurant and very sorry we did. The WORST service. So much so, that a manager came over and told us he was replacing our waiter with a different one but the new one was no better than the first. When we asked to speak to the manager again, they told us he left and there weren't any other managers there. What? No manager at 9:00 on a Saturday night? If that was actually true, it's no wonder the service in this place sucks. There is no accountability. Just a bunch of pompous servers that could care less about the customer. Good luck making tips, boys!!

I've had every kind of pizza from NY to California and after 17 years of ordering Robertos, it is still the best thin crust in the country. Their sausage and pepperoni are great. Love it cold the next day and it actually reheats well too. I've heard mixed reviews about their delivery but pickup is consistently timely and the food is top notch.

I have been to Roberto's 3 times in my life... once years ago (before they remodeled) with a few girlfriends, before HB... next to pick up a gift card for my boss for his birthday last Summer... And then just recently for a family dinner! My HB grew up in Elmhurst, and Roberto's Ristorante is a favorite of his and his family's. We went there last weekend on a beautiful Sunday evening... They have a beautiful outdoor patio but we figured it was a little too hot for ourselves so we decided to sit inside. The menu had everything one would expect from an old world Italian "Ristorante"... from their "famous" thin crust pizza... to their veal parm... to some great specials... It was very, very hard to decide what to have for dinner. The family had a wide variety of libations as well as dinners.. and everything was really good. The only thing that I didn't understand was why they served roasted potatoes with my chicken marsala and not the traditional side of pasta, it was quite weird. People have posted that service is slow.... but I will have to say our server was on top of everything! (Bussing staff as well.) I know I will be back for a fourth time, that time for pizza!

First, yet another example of why we need to have half stars. We've only ever ordered pizza for delivery from Roberto's - we haven't gone into the actual restaurant to eat. It's my husband's favorite local place for pizza but I am less inclined to put it on top of my list. My main issues are that the crust is a little chewier than I like, maybe damper and maybe as a result of the distance we are from the place, and that the cheese is less salty than it is as other places. The saltiness factor is a big deal for me - the cheese is my favorite part of pizza so the cheese saltiness level needs to be just so to make a pizza perfect for me. Now, that said, delivery times are always good - if they say 45 minutes to an hour, even on weekends, it seems like they arrive sooner, and the amount of toppings is always appropriate. Also, we're a bit farther out and they actually deliver to us, which is nice. We'll definitely order again since it is the husband's favorite but I will continue to hope for the crust and cheese to improve a bit!

This review is for the take out pizza only. I have not dined in their restaurant. We have the Robertos thin crust pizza take out several times a year. In my opinion, Robertos makes one of the best thin crust pizzas in the area. Toppings are quality and plentiful; the sauce has a great flavor, and the pizza is not drowning in sauce; and the crust is just the right consistency to hold up to the sauce yet be excellent for a cold breakfast the next day. Outstanding take out pizza.

Where do I start? Saturday night and it's busy and the table that was seated before us appeared to be complaining but I didn't think much of it. The waiter then started telling us why the couple were complaining and they just didn't enjoy their meal. Ok. Did he even comp them or give them a free desert? Nah. Red flag #1 Anyways fast forward I order a NY Strip steak medium well but it was more like well.Red flag #2 Or leather and fatty. Bad news it cost 32 dollars with a side of bland garlic mashed the other issue besides feeling I was getting royal ripped off was that the waiter was hanging us out to dry. He wouldn't give eye contact or let us know how long the food would be. I felt unimportant to him as if other tables were in more need for attention than me and my gf. Red flag #3 I didn't finish and told him I wasn't pleased and then he just gets weird. He goes A-wall for 20 minutes walking back and forth and avoiding me. I was getting pissed. He was bullshitting me. He comes back and tells me I have to pay and there is nothing I can do because Medium well is dry and a NY Strip steak is fatty. I've had better NY Strip steaks at Jewel. He argued with me in front of other tables and I told him listen I know you're having a bad day (which he told us) he then gets defensive and asks me if Im having a bad day. ( At this point I'm just in shock but I stay cool and keep the pressure on him) I know he's in trouble now so I tell him the service was slow. He still haggles with me and I was intent of getting some kinda deal from this dude for slow service and bland food thats WAY OVER PRICED.

Dear Diner You won't find bettercarry out pizza in Elmhurst, and the sit down atmosphtere of the Ristorante is very cozy, and romantic. The outdoor garden cafe off to the side of the building is adjacent to a park and you can see all the passers by like a European Cafe would. The servers are the best, very knowledgable about various Italian specialties and very customer oriented. This gets five stars all around from me.

:)) That's how Roberto's makes me feel when I pick up their pizza. It's thin, crispy and delish! They have a nice tomato-y sauce. This is the only place where I feel comfortable eating sausage pizza. lol Don't ask why. Unfortunately I have only been in the dining area about three times but it's nice. I've tried other things here and they taste very good, BUT Roberto's started off with only pizza and that's what I go for!

My mother and I held my sisters Bridal shower at Roberto's. The place was great! For the same price as Maggiano's banquets etc. you get a much more personal experience with great food and excellent service! The waiters did a great job and set up the room exactly to our liking. The food was excellent . Yummy mixed greens salad and excellent flavorful pastas. Portions were huge, and wine was good. All of our guests loved the place. I will definitely go back to eat and I would have another event at Roberto's!

SERVICE is the glaring issue with this establishment. I have dined in once at the location and ordered delivery on multiple occasions and have never been treated so rudely. First for my dining experience. I came with a friend on a rainy day. We missed our class at the yoga studio across the street and figured we would stop in for dessert and coffee. The restaurant was VERY slow yet our server seemed completely annoyed that we were not ordering dinner. We asked a couple questions about the dessert menu which seemed to annoy our server further. While we both enjoyed what we ordered, we spent the entire time feeling unwelcomed and uncomfortable. It also took a very long time to get our check which surprised me if our servers concern was turning his tables for people ordering dinner! My delivery experiences have actually been worse if that is possible. I help manage a large business in elmhurst and our location often orders pizzas from robertos. While i do enjoy their pizzas and find them to be better than your typical chain pizza place, i have been treated so rudely, borderline confrontational, by two separate delivery drivers on TWO separate occasions that i literally have lost my taste for ordering from them. I am still a customer, even if i am just ordering delivery, and I cannot believe that the delivery drivers feel that it is their place to tell off a customer?!?! After the first time i just blew it off as one bad experience, but after it happened again i am convinced that it is major problem with this establishment. I really do try to support local business's that value their customers. But this place just doesn't cut it. I can honestly say that I enjoy their food, but its not worth the poor treatment.

After hearing about how "amazing" Roberto's was we had to go. Originally we were going to try Francesca's in downtown Elmhurst but when I passed by the restaurant after work I saw how busy it was and decided it was too late to try to wait for a table. I wish we would have waited. SERVICE= First off, If I could give 2 ratings: Service and food I would give the service a 1. We went with our three-year old who is very well behaved and sits in a regular chair just like you can I. She was also coloring the paper tablecloth, which is common for kids- that's why restaurant's give you crayons. In other words, you can't miss her. SO I was very disappointed when she was constantly ignored by our waiter. First he came by to ask about drinks and walked away before I could mention that our daughter would just have water. Then we ordered appetizers and he only brought our 2 plates to eat from. AND WALKED AWAY. Luckily there were bread plates and she used that to eat Bruschetta and calamari. I also ordered a soup and we shared the bowl. HE SAW US SHARING THE BOWL because Seth was asking him a question about something. Can't remember at this point. When taking our dinner order he asked Seth (in fine dining don't you ask the ladies at the table first?) and then me AND WALKED AWAY! what about my daughter? Does she not eat? YOU SAW ME SHARE MY SOUP WITH HER? SAW HER EAT CALAMARI AND BRUSCHETTA, she's obviously NOT picky- Assume that she's sharing with one of us? ASK FIRST. But alas, he didn't. BUT it turned out ok because she was in fact getting full and I was going to share my pasta with her. When the order was delivered, I asked him to please bring out a bowl for my daughter so I could share my meal with her. Her brought out a plate. DUDE, I asked for a bowl because it's easier for her- she's 3. No worries, she handled the plate. I was trying to make it easier by using a bowl, just in case it was difficult. They started cleaning up after dinner and assumed us finished. I saw him about to bring the check over and my fiance asked for a cappuccino and dessert menu. We ended up sharing a dessert. EDIBLES: my rating? 3, more like 2.5 but I'm rounding up. This isn't fine Italian dining. It's an over priced mom and pop. Lipstick on a pig. A restaurant like this in the city wouldn't make it past a year with these recipes at these prices! I expected waaaaaay better. with everything we ordered I wouldn't pay more that $50, instead we walked out paying $120 REALLY? So disappointed. BTW, no alcohol. The calamari was the generic breaded calamari that you can get at ANY pizza place. no spices, nothing and the tangy cocktail sauce- from a jar I'm sure. Probably next to the can of tomatoes they used to make their marinara. How do you mess that up? Can't you use real tomatoes? AT ALL? or at least try to dress it up a little better? Make an effort. The Italian Village grows their own spices out in Oak Park. AND THEY'RE CHEAPER than this place! SO DISAPPOINTED. I received so many recommendations?! It was packed! HOW? Is everyone oblivious or was the only place to go on Spring Rd.? The only things I appreciated at the restaurant was the keyboard singer and the greeting staff/ hostess. I LOVED THAT! reminded me of seeing Tony Spavone perform at Spavone's in Bloomingdale when I was a kid. It brought a smile to my face when I walked in and left. and the hostess wore a warm smile and was very nice. I bet the bar is nice to be at! That looked fun. SO with service being 1 and food being a 3 that averages to 2. I won't be going back or recommending. Francesca's is much bette rif you want Italian in Elmhurst.

Roberto's seems to be the under appreciated Italian cousin of the cross town Mia Francesca. As a Elmhurst resident........I can proudly say that we have 2 first class Italian restaurants. Roberto's, tucked away in the "other" commercial area of Elmhurst, offers a enjoyable and relaxing experience. First off try a drink at the bar. Franco will warmly serve you. Franco = classic barkeep. Any music tonight..........as they do have performers on the weekends." Some Sinatra" is always a good thing. Pasta's are either freshly made in house or bought from local pasta purveyor Original Pasta Factory (sorry I do not think they sell to public). Delicious sauces/options for the pasta. Great wine list. Please note hte wonderful picture in the men's bathroom. I would love a copy. A take out pizza and rib place also in the building.

We ended up coming to Roberto's for a late Sunday lunch. The restaurant was almost empty, but the interior of the restaurant was welcoming. Our server was incredibly enthusiastic and had great recommendations. We started with several appetizers. My favorite was the burrata mozarella with proscuitto and roasted veggies. The bruschetta was also garlic-filled and delicious. I was not a fan of the fried calamari as it was a little too rubbery for my taste. For my entree I ordered the seafood risotto. The mussels and clams were good, but the shrimp was a little tough. I wasn't too fond of the risotto as it really didn't taste Italian to me. I hate being disappointed with my entree so I was looking forward to a cannoli for dessert. The restaurant only had 1 cannoli left, so only one person at my table ended up getting it. I got a chocolate ice cream ball-like dessert that was covered in cocoa powder. It was delicious but I wished I was eating the cannoli. Sad kids. Overall I was much more impressed with the appetizers at Roberto's than my entree. I think that if I had chosen something different my experience would have been entirely different also. I would maybe give it another shot if another opportunity arises.

Love Roberto's. I've been here many times and every meal is outstanding. I've taken clients here, taken family here, taken kids here and every time it's a great experience. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of Franco (he was part of the experience!) but it hasn't stopped me from returning time and time again.

What can I say, I love Robertos. This italian restaurant is always consistent when it comes to flavor. They take pride in providing you with yummy and delicious bites. Plus, you have to try their delicious pizza and Frank the bartender is the best. If you want some great tasting Italian food, Roberto's is the place. From the clams, mussels, pizzas, soups and entrees, they do not disappoint.

Roberto's is a beautiful space. Great bar and seating layouts. Came here for dinner with my best friend for night out without the Hubsbie's. We're firm believers in nights out without the guys sometimes--let's face it, they don't want to be around when we talk about shoes or the latest gossip. And what better place to chat than at a nice restaurant where we can linger. Very friendly and attentive staff/service without any hovering. We had the stuffed artichoke appetizer--that was OK. I wasn't "wowed" by it. Main dishes were the Chicken Saltimboca--very yummy and the chicken was very tender. Yummy thoughts running through my head, I could have sopped up the great sauce with bread but wanted to save room for dessert. My friend had the Gnocci with marinara sauce--that was pretty good too. Dessert was the chocolate souffle--which I don't think was really a souffle, it was more like a chocolate lava cake. But what's in a name? It was still chocolate-y goodness. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee. At the end of the nice meal, I love lingering over a nice cup of coffee. Very watered down and no coffee flavor at all--wonder what happened with that. I will definitely be back--they have a nice patio area and I'd love to "linger" there during the warmer months. I'd also like to try the pizza-to-go from their pizzeria one of these days too.

Roberto's came highly recommended to me but maybe the person who did never tried to go there for lunch. For while the food was pretty good, the timing was way to slow for a business lunch. We arrived around noon and actually wondered if the place was open. However, the front door was flung open (it was a perfect fall day) so we ventured forth. There was only one table filled with the "ladies of Elmhurst" lunching so we were told to sit anywhere. As for ambiance- Roberto's has it. The curved wooden bar, the white draped tables all make for an engaging room. It also appears that this room opens to the outdoors in the Summer as there is a cute patio along the side that faces the bike path and wooded area. Menus were quickly brought to us but it was at that point the speed waned and we spent the rest of our visit flagging down the waiter to try to keep things moving along even after telling him that we were on a break from work. We ordered some grilled calamari to start. It was quite good served atop greens and was plenty big for the two of us to share. We then had the soup special of the day which was seafood minestrone (reminded me of Manhattan clam chowder) which was also tasty. Then the big wait. We ordered two salads. Mine a Caesar with grilled chicken, and his a spinach with some pancetta. While I can't figure out why these two items would take 30 minutes to prepare- they did. We were almost ready just to tell the server (when we could find him) to put it in a to go box as we had no more time when they finally came out. Lunch for two ran about $35 which is average for restaurants in the area. Free parking is easy (at least at lunch given we were the only people in the place) While the food was good and I would go back to try the much raved about pizza one evening (not offered at lunch), given the slow luncheon service- it really should only be considered when you have the time for a leisurely lunch (like those ladies of leisure previously mentioned) As for me? Plenty of other places in the area that can get me in and out with some great tasting food. I'll just go there in the future.

Good food, nice atmosphere, decent prices and somewhat kid-friendly. Service is generally unmemorable (except for one very special waiter--read more on this below), but that doesn't make it a bad thing. FOOD: Typical Italian fare. The menu is long, which is often a bad sign, but surprisingly the food was pretty good. No complaints from the four adults and one 2-year-old in our party. SERVICE: Just fine. Our waiter always seemed to be around when we needed him, yet he wasn't overly enthusiastic about his job. Now, there was one very special waiter. He was an older man who was waiting on tables in our general area. He noticed at some point that my son was getting a bit fidgety, so he stopped by and asked if he could give him some Dum-Dum suckers. Little did he know, this is my kid's absolute favorite treat. So, not only did this small gesture go a long way for calming him down and making him very happy, it gave us more time to hang out with our friends, and that meant we ordered another bottle of wine as well as desserts--good business move, Mr. Awesome Waiter! ATMOSPHERE: Didn't spend much time inside, although it looked nice. The narrow outside patio was quite pleasant. We had a round table for our party of five, which lent itself well to socializing with good friends over several bottles of wine. PRICES: Pretty standard somewhat pricey upscale Italian suburban restaurant prices. If you have ever been an one of these types of restaurants, you won't be surprised, but you also won't feel like you're getting a deal. KID-FRIENDLINESS: So, yeah, no one is going to give you the evil eye when you walk in with a kid. In fact, we saw lots of kids in this place while we were there on a Saturday night. However, they do not offer a kids' menu, so be prepared to order a side of plain pasta and sauce or half-order of one the the pasta's off the menu. Yes, I would go back. Good place for meeting friends and hanging out in a nice, but casual setting.

If you want excellent Italian food or pizza then order Roberto's take out. But do NOT eat in this restaurant. We have lived in Elmhurst for 25 years. We have frequented this restaurant often. Our teenage kids order takeout pizzas at least four times a week late in the evening long after dinner and after sports games and homework. Our Christmas Eve tradition for 20 years was to go to church services and then a big Italian dinner at Robertos. Five years ago we showed up on Christmas Eve and found they had cancelled our dinner reservation made 2 weeks prior. The hostess (who is either the wife or mother of the owner) was incredibly rude, nonapologetic and uncaring toward us. We left and went up to Francesca's on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful meal and amazing service. About once a year we venture back to the restaurant for dinner (we are in walking distance of the restaurant) and we are always treated discourteslessly by the hostess and hurriedly and uncaringly by the waiters. Still the food is awesome. We just got back from a month in Italy and still appreciate the tasty and wonderful food from Robertos TAKEOUT. Our advice is to order take out but forego the miserable and rude hostesses and waiters in the restaurant. When will management learn that to attract patrons and fill tables you need more than edible pasta. You need to fire your family members and long term (indifferent) employees and hire customer-friendly, enthusiastic and committed new employees. We eat out four times a week and would love to keep our dining in Elmhurst rather than always dining in Oak a Brook and Lombard.

Have been here for multiple occasions....unfortunately the most recent was to celebrate my father's life at his funeral luncheon.....Food= good as always, from my experience they do a decent job with large groups making sure the food is up to par and comes out fast. Service= leaves a lot to be desired.....without getting into too much detail, there were some major issues with service last month. To keep a long story short we will just say wine service (open bar charged on consumption) was VERY PUSHY and uncomfortable, watching the waiters overpour wine to jack up the bill was actually comical, we had running bets as to how high our waiters would fill our glasses. There were empty place settings being filled. Guests with full glasses wouldn't even sip their wine, and low an behold here comes the waiter to "top them off".... Overall, this isn't even the biggest issue. After notifying the OWNER a few days after the event and being apologized to and told that there would be a gift card coming in the mail to compensate, it has now been a month and no sign....1) didn't contact him to get a free gift card, just to let him know what happened and that it was b.s, but if you're going to offer it you should probably follow up.....2) if you are going to apologize and insist on making things right, you should probably do so, not just lie and try and brush people aside....weak...

Combo for the pizza and eat in. First the Pizza: We have ordered carry out here a couple times and I really like their thin crust pizza. I tried it based on advice from others in town, and wasn't disappointed. I grew up in an area that had some of the best pizza in the area, and I also lived in the city , so I have a pretty good idea what pizza should taste like. Theres is how I like i.....thin crust, crispy around the edges, with the perfect "grated cheese blend" that s the secret to thin slice. The sausage is excellent and hand ground in store. I still prefer a couple other places where I grew up in Aurora (Ach and Lou's, Eddies, Garios), but this is a great substitute. The eat -in was ok. I was hoping it was going to be better, but we went for a DATE NIGHT, and sat outside. Service was fair, but I would have liked to hear some specials and maybe a little more excitement from the server. A couple of times we went without drinks, and the server even took the remainder of my wine before I drank it. The steaks were 6.5 out of 10 stars, and a put that slightly higher than Outback, and lower than a good Steak joint like a Mortons, etc. Overall, I hate paying over $30 for a NY STrip without it making me feel like I ad something out of the ordinary. I don't agree with the concept that a certain cut must be a certain price. For the price here, I almost expect a dry aged chunk of USDA PRIME......this falls well short of that. I can't tell you what my girlfriend had, because even after I asked her, we couldn't remember.....so take that with a grain of salt. Nice quaint area, clean, and above average food, but their best dish is far an away the pizza.....

I had this yesterday as my aunt ordered 2 large pizzas while we drank and played Xbox. I actually liked this pizza a lot. We usually order Nardi's in addison but this was a nice change. Flaky crust, good sauce, fresh taste. We got a tomato basil and a half sausage half pepperoni. The tomato basil was good, the pepperoni was nothing special but still good. The sausage is what stood out for me. Almost had the consistency of like a turkey sausage and had a great flavor. I know I will be craving that again.

The hub and I happened upon Roberto's by accident, while exploring Elmhurst.as a place to set up shop. We were inspired by the cute patio, and hopeful after noticing the accolades from OpenTable and others on the door. I can relate to the reviewers who had great things to say about the food, but were disappointed with the fragmented and somewhat inattentive service. In overhearing others nearby, they were also mystified by the seemingly difficult task of meeting one of a restaurant's basic requirements: service. It is what people are coming for, besides the food. It's something I think any restaurant can accomplish--not everyone gets the food part right! The warm bread and the garlic butter -- yum! I'm not much of a bread person, and I had to have a second piece of that. The soup/salad were the tasty and the perfect portion/combination. The fish my hubby had was absolutely delicious, and the veggie lasagna I ordered didn't make me yearn for a traditional recipe in the least. We didn't have time to taste or main meals before we had to pack up and leave, so we ate them at home. It wasn't until we tasted the food that we thought we would go back to try it again, as we had already figured the service was probably not going back for. So, we will give it another shot, but definitely (as others asserted), not when we are extremely hungry, pressed for time, etc.

This is about our fourth time coming here. The food is good but definitely not worth the aggravation of the poor service. We always seem to get the same waiter which is part of the problem . It always seems like they are short staffed. The time it took to just order a drink was ridiculous along with getting our soup and salad and then our entrees..I do not think this is worth your money coming here when there are so many Great Italian restaurants in the area. Roberto's.....you need to either hire more staff or train your staff better.

Eh! For starters, my wife andI order a couple drinks before we sit down. Her a martini and I a vodka tonic easy tonic. I get a high ball glass with an actual measured shot and the rest tonic. WTF? I ask for a little more vodka since they are below most standard bars alcohol level by a long shot and the bartender says I have to charge you for a double. A double? Where was my original single? Charged me $19! Airport bars are cheaper and poured better. The old timer bartender who we enjoyed came over and helped ease the pain with some after dinner drinks, but my god. This place is robbing the neighbors with BS like that.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant!! I have not found a place better than this. I come here often (I even had my wedding shower here) and always leave satisfied. I usually order rigatoni with vodka sauce because this is the only place who has authentic home-made vodka sauce. The pizza is fantastic too!! I have never been disappointed with Roberto's Restaurant!

I absolutely love this place. Great for an upscale dinner or just some casual drinks. They make the best calamari that I have had in town. I like to come here at least a couple times a month. Every town needs a place like this to call home.

love, love, love Roberto's! I first fell in love with Roberto's when I got introduced to their pizza. We get carry out from Roberto's often (about 4x a month!), and I can definitely say that their pizza is amazing! I'm not really a fan of thin crust pizza, but I will make an acception for Robertos. They offer a variety of toppings (italian beef topping is one of our favs). If you choose to dine-in, their menu is definitely one which impresses- check our their daily specials-especially their stuffed artichokes!! Personally, I've ALWAYS been impressed with their "risotto of the day"..we've always WISHED we had room for dessert, unfortunately- haven't had the pleasure of enjoying such a treat!

My family has been ordering from Robertos for probably 10-15 years. They are one of the only places that delivers so we take full advantage of that. I have honestly only eaten in the restaurant twice within all these years but I have tasted a good portion of their menu so I'm an expert on the food no so much the wait staff/ambience ect.... They have great Eggplant Parm and linguine with garlic and oil and baked mostaccolli! If you just want something for lunch or a light din they have an eggplant sandwich that is very good too! The meat eaters I eat with love the chick parm, and the meatballs are supposedly very good. My only problem is the lack of vegetarian soup choices. So I always have to get salad when all I really want is soup. So if your not feeling like going out to din but you dont wanna cook just order Robertos! I think they deliver pretty far since I live in Lombard and they deliver all the way to me!

Now since I've moved to Illinois, the only consistent cuisine I found to be good is either American Steak & Spuds or Italian... forget Asian, or anything else... however Roberto's is Sicilian (I think), but the food here is delicious! The drinks are great to my taste at least the slightly dirty martini that I like to order is made perfectly and in a nice size glass not like those dinky glasses you find at some places. Anyhow, the pastas and other hot dishes are fabulous and the pizzeria has awesome pizza. Try the Margherita pizza... its my fav. The prices are a bit on the higher side for Italian, but its a nice place for small gatherings, special occasions, dinner dates or just dinner with the family.

I had linguine with white clam sauce. There were no fresh clams. They said they were fresh, but the fact that these were cut such that each piece was the same and it tasted like progresso makes me believe that they were canned.

Great place. Service is as wonderful as the food. Janet is my favorite server. Knowledgeable and truly nice. Menu has lots to choose from and everything I have tried has been great! Wonderful Italian dishes and pizza. I wish there were 'heat' lamps on the outside patio. I would sit out there year round if possible!

I've been to Roberto's lots of times but it seems as though their food isn't as tasty as it used to be. The Bolognese sauce was meat, salt, and very little tomato. It did not taste like Bolognese sauce should. Others who dined with me were equally as unimpressed.

Yay! I attended a baby shower luncheon at Roberto's today and had a great experience. The staffers were quick and polite, despite the huge group of chattering women. The restaurant itself gave off a family-run vibe without being shabby. I would perhaps pick someplace fancier or newer for a date but it was perfect for lunch. Our meal exceeded my expectations. We began with stuffed mushrooms and delicious garlic bread bruschetta. Then came the fresh bread baskets and garlic butter (my breath was AWESOME after all this). The salads were sort of skimpy but it didn't really matter because of all the other food. Then we had two pasta options, served family style: bow tie pasta in an alfredo sauce, which was the group favorite, and mostaccoli in a marinara sauce, which was my favorite. After we had all eaten ourselves sick, they brought out lightly breaded chicken breasts and cooked veggies! More food?? I somehow found room to devour the perfectly cooked chicken and some of the veggies. To cap it all off we received generous pieces of cheesecake with strawberry sauce. Delicious! The meal was yummy, the service was prompt, coffee good, restaurant clean and atmosphere upscale family-style Italian. Street parking was easy, and there was a free lot across the street too. A perfect choice for a luncheon. I'd certainly host an event at Roberto's.

I grew up in Elmhurst, and now live on the north side of Chicago. I love pizza. Who doesn't? Everything in Chicago now seems to be Neopolitan or Deep Dish, no in-between. No good old fashioned cheese and sausage. Saucy, perfect crust, that kinda pizza. Roberto's is the greatest pizza of all time. You heard me...greatest pizza of all time. If we visit family in the burbs, we call and order it par-baked and take it home. It is crack pizza. The crust is the best, the sauce is perfectly seasoned, and the sausage is homemade (essential.) I usually order mine "extra-sauce, well-done" to get the little brown spots on the cheese. (I think my sister-in-law invented that, thanks Megs.) The restaurant is also good, used to be better though, and the prices have really gone up. Still a good option in Elmhurst because the downtown area is filled with pretty boring restaurants that just seem to fill a niche. Like, "we need a greek restaurant, let's open one called Kalamata." But you can not go wrong with the pizza. Thin crust, sausage, spinach, tomato. I'm in paradise.

Perhaps my experiences at Roberto's are colored by my dining companions' banter, the profoundly excellent service we receive, the copious amounts of fine wine that we enjoy and so on, but really, this place rocks. Who would think that the absolute best Veal Saltimbocca I've ever had would be found in a neighborhood joint in Elmhurst? I wouldn't have if you'd told me so, but here we are and that's exactly what I'm saying. Oh, and about the wine, I'll be drawn and quartered for letting the secret out, but the best wines don't usually make it to the list. Ask if there's anything interesting that's come in recently and I believe you'll be both surprised and delighted.

My family and I chose Robertos to commemorate my grandmother's life. There were 7 in our party and we made a reservation for lunch after the memorial. We ordered appetizers which came out in a timely manner but our entree's came out in 15 minute intervals. When asked where's the angel hair entree our server said they couldn't find the pasta. The grilled vegetable salad had no grilled vegetables, and the mussels smelled so fishy they were inedible. When our dissatisfaction was brought to our servers attention he replied arrogantly and did not take any responsibility for the mistakes. It ruined a perfectly beautiful afternoon. HORRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE! Don't waste your money.

Great outdoor dining under the canopy, and looks out onto the Prairie Path. More upscale and trendy since they expanded. Roberto's pizza's are a local favorite. I actually like the pizza here more now in recent years, then when I was a kid. The pasta dishes are excellent and they have a nice selection of wines. Service is good, and you don't feel rushed to finish your meals, which I appreciate. A great date place, definitely visit during the summer when you can dine outdoors. Then take a stroll down the Prairie Path to work off your meal a bit. Great place, and great location.

This place was a HUGE disappointment. When we arrived the hostess attempted to seat us in a high traffic area - there were only two other people in the room - The hostess advised us that the table she wanted us at was better and proceeded to seat us there - strike 1. The table was wobbly. Two members of the wait staff stoood around and watched me adjust the table - not one offered to do anything about it. strike 2. The waiter knew nothing about the menu. the person attending to the water threw the water into our glasses - while never once losing the chip on his shoulder. - Strike 3 The food quality was poor. What was supposed to be filet slices and risotto was more like shoe leather and wallpaper paste. we waited...and waited...and waited... for drink refills. We were looking forward to dessert but enough was enough. We left feeling completely unsatisfied, disgusted and fleeced. We dine out at least 4 times per week, and are always looking for somewhere new to try. This place was the worst by far. DON"T DO IT!!!!!!

Had dinner at Roberto's last night for the first time. I must admit, the experience started out slowly, as in service. But, over the next hour or so, John, our server/bartender, grew on us. He was attentive and personable. The food was outstanding. We will be back again.

Roberto's is another "once upon a time" place. Which means that once upon a time it was a fun, inexpensive, neighborhood, family-style pizza/Italian pasta joint. But this is Elmhurst where one is forced to be chic or trendy or upscale or better than the Joneses...... So they upgraded to a semi-fancy joint, slowed down the pace, slightly improved the food and GREATLY raised the prices. If you were here "back then", you will be sorely disappointed. If you like upscale//trendy, you will be sorely disappointed. There is just too much competition out there and they fall on the wrong side of middle.

Their thin crust sausage pizza is my absolute favorite, it can't be beat. Their pastas and sandwiches are also delicious. 95% Of the time I get take out but will occasionally eat in the restaurant. The restaurant is good although pricey. I think the restaurant food taste a little different from the take out and I much more prefer the take out.

As a longtime customer of the carry-out half of this restaurant, the service in the dining portion was below the poor level. Entrees were delivered 45 minutes apart and the waiter was rude. Our significant leftovers were apparently dropped during the packing process and not offered an apology or portion off the check. I called to talk with the manager the following day. He said he would send a gift certificate, but it never arrived. A big disappointment. The food overall is good, but the poor service ruined the dining experience.

I took my aunt & uncle there after hearing good things about this place. Keep in mind, its pretty upscale, but there isn't any dress code rule. I liked how the employees seemed genuinely Italian with the waiters talking about European soccer with a customer in his sicilian-sounding voice. The fried calamari & the olive oil were unbelievable. The only thing I didn't like was my linguine in red sauce w/calamari @ $17. While I did get a huge amount of pasta & they weren't cheap about the ample amount of unbreaded calamari, the pasta just didn't taste fresh, which I thought it should of considering the price I was paying. But, that didn't deter from my overall experience. The interior was top-notch & the employees were very nice. Our bill came to $70 for three people, which I didn't think was bad for a semi-fancy restaurant. We saw sports personality Dan Jiggetts sitting a few tables away from us so it made the place feel a bit special. The pasta dishes were priced low to mid teens. Chicken entrees were $16 & Veal entrees were $24. I'll definitely try this place again based on how great the fried calamari & olive oil were.

Pizza is so-so. Same cardboard with sauce and cheese you can get anywhere these-a-days.

Roberto's is a wonderful little Italian restaurant in south Elmhurst; they started out as a more casual restaurant and pizza place, but expanded several years ago and definitely became more upscale. The pizza business that this place does is phenomenal, we live a couple of blocks away from here and it is always difficult to park around here on weekends as people are always in and out. Their pizza is good, but pizza is a matter of personal taste, and I would rank Armand's as being better. However, you can order off of their dinner menu as well for delivery, and rarely a week goes by when I am not ordering from them after a late night of work. Their specials are definitely worth coming in for: they always feature about 10 to 12 great specials, including about 5 healthy and delicious fish items. But what I really love about Roberto's is their beautiful bar area, which was expanded recently. It is a great low key place to get a drink and appetizers; the bartenders are courteous, more than attentive and very professional. It is definitely a neighborhood place, but worth driving to try it out.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
