This place is amazing. Started with the Buffalo Chicken Eggroll which was really good. I had the burger which was perfection. It was cooked perfectly. I had juice running down my hand/arm which is what you want. It's a very simple burger; arugula, grilled onion, tomato, pickle, and their signature sauce. It is the best burger I have had in years. I chose the Mac and cheese as a side and it was great. The noodles were cooked correctly, the cheese sauce was flavorful and there was enough to cover the noodle but not drown them. I will definitely be taking advantage of their build your own Mac and cheese next time which will probably be very soon. Our server was Nicole who was so fantastic. She was super sweet and suggested some good tasting dishes.

Outside dining with nice relaxing music in the background. The service was friendly and good. I had the truffle swiss burger which was good burger but wasn't loving the truffle aioli and Mac n cheese with mushrooms and brussels and were cheesily delicious! I sampled the baja salmon tacos which were delicious too. Had the peach jalapeno mojito which was very tasty and refreshing. I would go back again and recommend to others.

Deviled eggs and pork belly for an app. Both were very good, in fact we discussed ordering them again as the main course. I sampled a few of the draft beers. A good variety on the menu which is always changing. I can say I'm not a huge fan of having every beer served in a mason jar though. The service was excellent from start to finish. My wife ordered the wild boar sloppy joe with fries and I ordered the fried bologna sandwich with a side of mac'n cheese. All food was served in a timely manner and was the perfect temperature, great flavors. We can't wait to return and try all the menu items like the wagyu ribeye!!

Meal for two: $25 Food: Husband had the Mac and Cheese with chicken, and I had the French dip. I have to say, my sandwich was pretty tasty. Good layer of flavors, with a nice bite to the horseradish sauce. And the parsley fries are a good touch. Au jus was bland, like it hadn't been reduced properly. Everything was hot which was nice. We got the apple crisp dessert which is made in house. I was delighted that it seemed to have come straight from the oven. It was the best thing we ate all day. All in all, the food was above average. Service: Lacking. Not sure what the problem was. 4 servers on the floor, plus a hostess. It was post lunch rush, so it wasn't busy, but we sat for 20 mins before we were talked to. When I mentioned it to the waitress she handled it well, but you can tell the communication between employees is lacking. And the hostess was more interested in her phone than what was happening in the building. The delay stopped me from ordering apps or a drink because at that point, I didn't expect the experience to improve. Gladly, the food stood above the crap service. Overall: Not bad. Better than average. I'd go back for that sandwich, and for the dessert.

The mac and cheese was decent. They had a variety of add on's kind of pricey though. The waitress was cool until she spilled my uncle's 2 dollar beer, didn't apologize and was apprehensive about replacing it. The manager ended up coming over asking what happened and eventually replaced it. Our bill was around 70 bucks so I didn't see the big deal about replacing it. Anyway it was decent not my first choice for dinner. They did have a really good drinj menu.Check it out though!

Visited family over the weekend. So we did a lot of sampling of one another's food. Presentation was good, it's was just "over flavored". I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, waaayyy to strong. And I like buffalo hot wings. My wife had the Cuban sandwich, the mustard was so strong that I cold not even tast the meat at all. Daughters Mac n cheese was good but sons sandwich was so spicy it wasn't enjoyable. I was looking forward to the parsley fries but again, the parsley and spicing was just too overpowering. I would go back, but just possibly ask to back off certain flavorings.

Social Gastropub fell somewhat short in what I expected. It's more so of a simplified version of Cleveland Heath. My boyfriend and I went with his family the first time and it was actually pretty great. I ordered the lettuce wraps and they were awesome as an appetizer. For my main entree I got the prime rib dip with horse radish sauce, SO good (that's why they get 4, not 3 stars). We then got a chocolate and caramel cake dessert, fantastic. It was reasonably priced so we went back for more the next week, I'm not adventurous so I ordered the same appetizer and same entree. The lettuce wraps were WAY too peanut-y, I couldn't even eat one. My sandwich was great, again. My boyfriend got the stroganoff but it was salty and lacking dimension. In all honestly, we will probably go again, but mainly for the sandwiches.

I had the pork belly sandwich and Mac n cheese. Both were delicious! I can't wait to go back to create my own Mac n cheese concoction for lunch! I highly recommend the pineapple infusion on the rocks

We've been twice, and can't wait to go back. Delicious food, great cocktails and nice atmosphere. The pork chops are my husbands favorite and I love the mac and cheese! I recommend making a reservation just for convenience.

I think this place is very good. They have a great menu. I mean, you have to really decide what you want, so many great choices. I was here twice this week. They just changed the menu on my second visit. I had the salmon, with a wonderful spinach, cream corn, that was awesome. My second visit, I ordered a beer. They have a large selection but they don't have anything that lets you know anything about the beer. They change the line frequently, but you can still have some sort of card or page with a description. I ordered a beer in a frosty mug. They don't usually pour draft beer in a frosted mug, but you need one because the beer is NOT COLD!!! I'm sure there are some beer aficionado's that say beer should be just below room temperature, but I, like most people, like cold beer!! I would say that they lose over half of their beer, in foam, because it comes out like an espresso. I watched the bartenders on both day pouring out foam in their pickle jars. I also ordered the prime rib. It was very tasty but very skimpy on the prime rib. The sandwich was $10.50. I would prefer they charge $12 - $14 and give out some more meat. I also asked for onion strings rather than fries, which the bartender seemed like it might be an issue. She asked, I believe the owner, who simply said "yeah", substitute it. Great place with a wonderful menu. Give out a little more meat and chill the beer and you'll get 5 stars on my next visit. Maybe use real beer glasses as well instead of the pickle jars. After all, you don't put wine in the pickle jars...

WOW! First time here and it won't be my last, especially because the very helpful waiter told us the menu changes every 5 months or so. Interesting selection of cocktails. The bloody Mary does have a 'kick' to it! Great addition to Edwardsville.

Went in the other evening for a couple of drinks with some old colleagues. To our surprise they had bourbon flights! Similar to what you would find at other places with wine except better. The best part the were only 10$! I ordered an order of their build your own Mac n Cheese and wow-it was out of this world! I highly recommend it. The place is a lot different than what the old Shenanigans used to be but I kind of like this a little more. Bar staff was extremely knowledgable and the atmosphere was great. Great place to come in and just hang out. Also they have a patio, can't wait for the weather to warm up!

What breath of fresh air in Edwardsville! Gastropub chefs have the most creative menu I have seen anywhere in the St Louis area. I had a burger with fried jalapenos and pepperjack that was amazing. My friend had salmon fish tacos with jalapeno aioli that was absolutely a hit. Great atmoshere, great service, and a nice art collection. With a constantly changing menu Gastropub will always be a regular stop for me. I am also excited that there is finally a restaurant that keeps the kitchen open late! Check it out.

Food was great! Staff was excellent! Ambiance was just ok for me. It was really nice in the bar area, but personally, I wouldn't be excited to eat in the dining area. It just doesn't do it for me...it's a little too simple.

Went for lunch today with friends- it was just ok. Nothing about the meal is making me plan another trip back. Shrimp ceviche app had mango, avocado, lime, spices and served with tortilla chips. The shrimp were slimy - just not like ceviche I've had before, the whole mouth feel was off. Mango chunks were too big and overpowered every bite. I had the French onion soup and half of the buffalo chicken sandwich. Soup was awful- nothing more than boring canned beef broth. No taste- even the onions were tasteless. Sandwich again , just ok. There were no fried pickles on mine and so called blue cheese mayo had no blue cheese chunks and no blue cheese flavor. Mayo was runny- not thick and creamy as you'd expect. They do have good fries- thin cut and seasoned, crispy. The waiter brought our check when we were about half way through the meal- no offer for dessert or drink refills. We paid, then finished our meal- never saw him again. Felt rushed. Overall, just an ok experience. I think they have a lot of ambition and are trying to have an eclectic menu ( the descriptions sound good) but just don't have the culinary experience in the kitchen.

I found Gastropub's food to be subpar. The manager of the establishment was very unfriendly. In a small town that's a big deal!

great food. quick service with how busy they were. The only bad thing i can say about this place is we were at the first table directly in front of the door. they were so busy that the door hardly ever stayed closed and we were extremely cold from the air blowing in ontop of us. Would be nice to have some sort of a buffer blocking that from the guest. We will go back soon but we will make sure to not let them sit us at that table.

Went to Social Saturday of opening weekend. Immediately walking in I was quite impressed with the renovations that took place. The inside looked great, especially the bar. The small courtyard section with outside bar was just as awesome. I loved the incorporation of picnic tables outside. We were seated immediately and while it was not very busy it still took 10-15 mins until we were greeted by a server. I actually had to stop someone and ask if they knew what server was assigned to our table and the person acted quite annoyed. Never the less it was opening weekend so I expected some confusion and early hiccups. The draft list here was exceptional. Great variety and the prices for pints was awesome. I hope this continues as it was one of the biggest draws for me coming in. My wife had the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. Sandwich was pretty dry but the bread was great. Fries were really good as well. I ordered the burger special per the recommendation of our waitress. My burger was average at best. The mac n cheese was awesome but unfortunately cold. This did not stop me from devouring it and I would certainly eat it again. Entrees on the menu looked pretty good but this is not cheap restaurant by any means. 2 Beers and two sandwiches still put us in the $40-$50 range. Overall not a bad experience at all but certainly room for improvement which can be expected from any restaurant still in its infancy. Will certainly stop in again in a month or so.

I ate here for the first time last Friday. I was extremely happy with the experience. There were 4 of us. Drinks: great selection of craft beer and a very interesting cocktail menu. I had a bourbon cocktail called On the Roof and it was very good. They are a little pricey at $8 but it was something different. We had appetizers. The Salmon dip was spicy and sweet and awesome. We also had the calamari and the dipping sauce was excellent. For entrees 2 had the blackened Salmon with a corn compote (delish) and we had the Salmon Fish tacos. Not the best I ever had but still very good for the middle of America. I had the burger if the day. Prepared with roasted peppers and onions on a nice soft bun. They served it with crispy shoestring French fries sprinkled with parm cheese. There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I'd heard the restaurant had an extensive beer list and communal tables like the ones found in traditional beer hall-type restaurants. Both things are technically true, but this restaurant wasn't at all what I expected. The actual beer list has to be one of the oddest things I've ever experienced in a restaurant. The "beer lists" are printed out receipts. Yes, register receipts. Apparently, each week when the beer selection changes, a receipt is printed out with all the current beers on it. So, to see what's available, you have to look through this receipt and decipher the available beers, abbreviations and all. Bizarrely enough, it is totaled at the bottom. I guess at least you know how much it would cost if you ordered a glass of every beer on tap. There's also a receipt for the "regular" beers that are always available. So weird. The decor is nice overall; the long, communal tables are a nice touch, the colors of the restaurant are nice, but an artist supposedly brought in from somewhere to hand paint the walls did some really odd-looking work on much of it. A solid color would have been more sophisticated. There's a wall with several black and white photographs, but my lunch companion and I couldn't figure out if there was supposed to be a theme behind them; just looked like a lot of random photographs. The food was actually quite good. I had the avocado egg salad with pesto fries as my side. Both were delicious. My friend had the salad and soup combo. She liked the salad but tasted the soup--a chorizo soup--and wouldn't eat another bite. Our server was nice enough but not every attentive. Left us alone for long periods of time without checking back, etc. Would I eat here again? Eh, if I was in the area, probably yes. Would I make a trip especially to eat there? Absolutely not. If I'm going to drive to Edwardsville, Illinois instead of St. Louis to eat, only Cleveland Heath is worth the trip.

Gave Social another try in February after initially trying it out soon after they opened and they have definitely improved. My Wife and I arrived around 6-6:30 and had no wait for a table. It did take a bit for our server to come take our drink orders but he was attentive and helpful for the remainder of the meal. I had the Meatloaf sandwich with macaroni and cheese on the side. My wife had Salmon I believe. The food came out quickly and was delicious and was plenty hot this time. The meatloaf sandwich was fantastic and I have been craving it since. The mac and cheese was good, although I felt it was missing something. Maybe adding things into it like the menu allows would have helped. My wife loved her meal. My only real complaint is I simply do not like the beer list being printed on a receipt on the table. It's unclear which beers are on draft and which are bottled. It also makes it difficult to know what style each beer is. I'm happy to say that my hunch that Social would only get better as they settled in was correct. We will definitely be back.

We visited social Gastropub shortly after it opened, we had heard of a lot of people going so we went. Our service was relatively slow. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, it came out with hardly any sauce on it, so I asked for extra. The chicken however was not tender, so I had a hard time getting the chicken apart when I would take a bite. This place is also pricey for what you're getting. We probably won't be back.

We are celebrating our anniversary and being sports fans it's a Notre Dame, St. Louis cardinals & Blues night. We love the atmosphere love the drinks I had a hot & spicy martini and the tuna my hubby had the prime rib dip. All wonderful! But the real treat of the night was our bartender Charlie ask for him if you sit at the bar you won't be disappointed.

Had the stuffed peppers, calamari, braised pork belly, and fish tacos. Everything was incredible, and very reasonably priced. Fabulous beer list and the cocktails sound great, though we did not try any today. The interior is really open, bright and comfortable; I cannot believe this is the same building as the old Shenanigans.

We very much enjoyed our appetizers and meal last night. I loved the scallop appetizer and the egg salad sandwich. My husband loved the fried deviled eggs and the special burger of the week. Our friends loved the ribs too. Service was excellent too.

I arrived at Social Gastropub an hour before close and the parking lot seemed empty. I thought maybe they were closed, but I headed for the door and luckily they were open. Must have been empty because it was pouring rain outside. The place was cute. Long bar lined with stools and communal tables throughout the middle surrounded by smaller tables. I sat at the bar and was greeted by the very pleasant bartender. She was very courteous and knowledgeable. The menu is not huge which is good, but everything is described so well that it all sounds tasty! I couldn't decide what to get so rather I asked the bartender what she recommended. She suggested the Pork Ragu as an appetizer and had a few recommended selections for the entree, but I went with the Braised Beef Stroganoff. She warned me it had a bit of a salty flavor, but that if I was ok with that I would like it a lot. The Pork Ragu came out pretty quickly and I didn't really know what to expect as the description was house made potato gnocchi, pork ragu, currants, kale, parmesan. Sounds interesting right? Well it was! It was delish. Not like anything I had ever tasted before. Perfect balance of sweet and salty. I think I would have been fine with just eating this as it was a pretty big plate, but before I could even finish the Stroganoff came out and what I thought would be a small entree was huge! The stroganoff comes with the following description: braised beef cheek, pappardelle, crimini mushrooms, stroganoff cream sauce, asiago. Sounds great right? At first bite it was definitely on the saltier side like the bartender had described, but it had a good flavor. The meat was tender and the pasta had the right al dente. I would have hoped for more of a creamy flavor, but oh well. The saltiness made it hard to eat a lot, but I ate as much as I could and got the rest to go. I would definitely come back here not just for the food, but the great service. Also the cocktail menu looked really good. Had I not been solo I would have definitely ordered a couple drinks.

Sometimes, the food combinations here just don't work for me. In my experience, the sandwiches are the best item on the menu.

The hubs and I had lunch here on a Sunday. Deeeeelicious bourbon braised pork belly appetizer - do not miss it!!! The deviled eggs are unique and yummy as well. Mac n' cheese is out of this world! I enjoyed the wild boar sloppy joe - the jalapeño slices and onion straws added the perfect bite. Server, Tomas, was very friendly and accommodating. We look forward to returning and creating our own mac n' cheese dish.

Really loved this place. Food is good, drinks are great. Awesome beer selection. The manager is always walking around making sure everyone is good. My ONE complaint, (and please if anyone who works there sees this, please change it) they put craft beer in frosted mugs. PLEASE stop doing so, it is not good for your beer and it prohibits you from tasting what it's suppose to taste like. I did ask for a non frosted mug and they were happy to oblige. It won't stop me from going back

We went last night for the first time and I was skeptical at first because of their menu. It seemed a little all over the place (rabbit, fish tacos, steak, tuna, mac n cheese) and perhaps like they were trying to be too many things. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience and don't regret the visit at all. From the outside, it looks a bit like a bank, but on the inside it's a very nice space. The bar spans one entire wall of the restaurant leaving the table seating area with a very open-floorplan. The colors (blues, greys, blacks) were nicely complimented with soft lighting and minimal table decorations. It had a clean feel without being cold. The hostess was friendly and our server was great. We started with ordering the happy hour martinis. We ordered two extra dirty and one apple. The apple was very good. The dirty martinis were a little off, kind of sweet for something that's supposed to have olive brine. They tasted like the apple martini was made first and the shaker wasn't rinsed before making the dirties. Maybe it was just a vermouth issue though. That's really my only complaint about the experience. After that, I switched to a draft wheat beer. They have about 20-25 draft selections, which do not include any domestic beers. They do have domestics and other choices in can form. For appetizers we got a warmed feta dip with toasted bread and fried calamari. They feta had some diced marinated cucumbers in the center, which gave the dish a very fresh taste and overall it was very good. The fried calamari was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The pieces were huge and nothing like the tiny little rings most places serve. They were perfectly cooked, not rubbery at all and served with a creamy dill sauce on the side that was quite tasty. For entrees, we got the prime rib sandwich and create your own mac n cheese. The prime rib sandwich was very moist and juicy. It had a perfect meat, bread, horseradish sauce ratio. The mac n cheese was phenomenal. The base price for the entrée is $8, and then you can add your own ingredients from there, all of which are priced differently (from $1.00 for onions to upwards of $10 for lobster). I ordered caramelized onions, mushrooms and veal demi-glace to mine, which was a total of $5-$6 in add-ons. It was so delicious. The veal demi-glace was such a delicious, rich, beef sauce. So good. The possibilities are endless with ingredient selections. However, that mac n cheese could stand on its own, no problem. You can get an order of plain mac n cheese with your sandwich for a $3 charge, which is what we did. It was creamy, rich and just plain goodness. We had no room for dessert, but they sounded like they'd be good. A couple things to be aware of...they change their menu every two months, though I'm not sure if it's a total overhaul or just select items. If you fall in love with something, you may want to get while the gettin's good. Also, there is no kid's menu and unless your child has a sophisticated palate, you may struggle to find something other than the plain mac n cheese for them.

We finally tried the Social Gastropub this evening. I had been avoiding it because the menu items seemed a little pricey, but the pull to try something new won out. We got to the restaurant at 7 pm. There was a nice flow of patrons, but nothing too busy as it was a Wednesday night. We were seated immediately and given menus by the hostess. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. At 7:25, no one had greeted us, offered us a drink or given us a glass of water. I went to the bar and asked for a manager. He came to our table and we explained our wait and that we had not been acknowledged, The manager immediately dispatched waitstaff to us and we were taken care of. I enjoyed the Wasabi tuna and my husband had Ugly chicken salad. Both meals were delicious! When our check came, our meals were half price for the trouble we endured. Although this restaurant didn't make a great first impression, they made up for it with our really sweet waitress and the discount. We will for sure give this restaurant another try!

Went to Social for the first time last night with my cousin. First impressions of the place were exceptional. It's a far cry from what the place used to be. Loved the patio with the outdoor bar. The crisp chrome look resembled Chipotle. The place was not busy at all, which I didn't mind. There were several servers just standing around as they seemed to be over staffed for a Tuesday night. I went to the bathroom and one of the stalls had absolutely no toilet paper. Surprising since they weren't busy at all. The drink I ordered was great. I had a pumpkin cocktail that satisfied my "everything pumpkin" palate. Overall, however, the food was not worth my 45 minute drive there. I ordered the Tuscan Chicken. The sandwich was just ok and left me disappointed. I expected more meat and flavor from the chicken. My cousin ordered the Ugly Chicken salad. She said the chicken was bland and lacked flavor. The salad was also tossed in what was too much balsamic vinaigrette dressing. She said she should have ordered it on the side. As we sat close to the inside bar, I was shocked when I saw the bartender take a drink (with a straw using his mouth and not his finger) from a fancy cocktail he was preparing for a customer. At first I thought perhaps he was just bored and was perfecting his portions. Then I saw him serve that cocktail he drank to a customer sitting at the bar. I do not know if he knew the customer personally, however I will never order another cocktail from there again because of that. Overall, the atmosphere was great, but there are other local establishments in Edwardsville I will go to instead.

Should be a 2.25 total rating. Here is The Good The Bad The Ugly and Low Down Foo The Good- I am struggling to find something amazing about it. I wouldn't say good but just ok the Cuban and Mac and cheese (needs salt and pepper). Our waiter rocked though. The Bad- not sure I would classify this as a gastro pub based off 3 factors: 1. the ambiance it's more of a sports bar/ banquet with white linens, weird wall paper, big screen tvs playing sports and a big wide open space, a true gastro pub should have a cozy or rustic vibe that makes you want to relax and enjoy it. 2. Should have extensive craft beer and cellar beer list... I believe they had 20 beers most were domestic bud, bud light and the like. 3. The food should be out of the box or fun plays on food. But it was just ok those Blue Chips where very bad though...Very bland blue sauce that seemed to be mixed with whole milk and was watery and tasteless. They could make it amazing with chunks of blue, thicker sauce and something more to cut the salt on salt flavor. The Ugly- craft beer 101 don't bring me a beer with a frosted mug it makes you seem like you don't know what your doing. You do not ever ever ever bring a beer in a frosted glass it waters the beer down. Also live band outside was way to loud. The Low Down Foo- I think this place has an identity crisis... It's called a gastro pub but does have any of the features of one... But looks like a sport bar / private even space. I wish them the best but they just don't have any reason to get us back... Out of the 3 categories we rate gastro pubs this one failed all 3.

Discovered this restaurant via a Groupon and way happy! Food is remarkable. Do not leave without ordering the Buffalo Chicken Eggroll! That is the best thing I've ever had. We wanted to sample a few things so we ordered plain mac and cheese, the Pressed Cuban sandwich and the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. For our sides we got the seasoned fries and cole slaw. Skip the fries. The flavors are so great that the slaw compliments it and is so very very tasty. Note to the hungry, let your food sit for a lil bit when it comes out steaming hot. The flavors will mesh together and taste heavenly. We could not stop eating all the eggrolls so we couldn't finish our meals. Ironically, the Cuban and the grilled cheese were so much better the next day at lunch room temperature. I kind of want to just order them to go the night before and take for lunch every day now. I'm a purest when it comes to mac n chase so plain was the way to go. It didn't need a thing. Service was great too, but maybe just a lil over selling. I don't know if that's a negative or not. All of our questioned were asked and refills, etc were prompt. Will return for sure. Note they have to go orders! Check out their online menu. I love that they show a great picture with each item and it's description.

I've been to Social Gastropub probably a total of 6 times for dinner and everytime I am always pleased with the delicious food. Being a self-proclaimed foodie, I didn't really expect to find a place that serves such delicious and unique dishes in the land of chain restaurants and fast food that is Edwardsville. PROS: They have a pretty large selection of items and their menu rotates frequently (something like 6-7 different menus a year) reflecting the season and availability of certain ingredients. I haven't been disappointed by their food yet, and I've gotten their salmon, ribs, fish tacos (VERY large dish, probably the best value for your money), brick chicken, and pork and peaches. They have very large salads which could easily be 2 meals (good lunch option). Their cocktails are REALLY good and unique. They also have a really large list of craft beers on draft and bottle. CONS: I hate that they serve most of their beers in blue mason jars. I know it's a hipster thing and maybe most of their clientele likes it, but other reviews rant about the same thing. I also think having the beer list on a receipt is kind of tacky (they do this apparently because their beer stock changes so frequently, but there's plenty of other ways to make a printout). Finally, there have been a couple times where our table has had to wait far too long for our food to come out (30-40 minutes) even though we were practically the only ones in the place. Some of the waitstaff also could tone down with the pomp. They act a little too pretentious for the setting and we would have appreciated normal conversation. All in all, if you're in the area of Edwardsville and looking for a good meal for dinner your best bets are probably this place or Cleveland Heath.

I love the place and staff I've only been once. My wife has been several more. Getting in without a wait was my challenge. The food is very good and something different. Definitely not a little mom and pop restaurant. However, the decorations seem a tad bit odd. The service was spot on to the point of pampering. Jessica was our waitress and delivered great recommendations, never forgot we had a child with us. She not only anticipated our wants and needs, she also anticipated what our daughter would want and delivered. Sad thing is that the experience was just so enjoyable, I don't recall what I ate. I do recall it was cooked very well, but recall nothing more. We left full and happy and eager to return. The prices are on the higher end, but well worth the money. Try it and you will return.

Great service but the food was,... eh... Fish tacos were well presented but over salted, smokin salmon was plopped on a bed of creamed corn and spinach (which looked aweful) and was better than the salmon. Not in a hurry to go back.

This is a great lunch option in Edwardsville! One of my good friends lives on that side of the river, so I'm always on the hunt for fun places to meet her. It was funny seeing her reaction to how different Social is compared to what used to be there before. I had no frame of reference, but apparently there have been some serious improvements! The interior is nice, and we were the only ones there at 11am. It started to fill up a little towards the middle of our meal. Dude. The build-your-own mac & cheese. How can you say no to that? I somehow did, but they start with a signature cheese blend and cavatappi pasta, and you add the rest. Corn, scallions, sriracha, mushrooms, chorizo, sirlion, lamb, lobster. It's a choose-your-own-adventure but with food. The rest of the menu is equally as impressive! The buffalo chicken egg rolls looked awesome, and so did the baja fish tacos. I ordered the stuffed red pepper (which curiously isn't on the online menu anymore) and it was wonderful. No real complaints here! I'm sure we'll stop by again at some point the next time I'm out that way for lunch. I'm not going to say no to the mac & cheese again though, so stay tuned for an update.

I was here last night for my birthday. We got right in. Our waitress was nice but a bit clueless. We ordered drinks then an app the feta dip, I can't tell you about this app. We never got it. We got our drinks which were Devine! I got the bourbon cherry sling. Loved it the presentation was great and the drink even better. My mother in law got the in the roof. Again she loved it Sadly. We never got water refills with out asking. Our table was full of empties from my husband n father in law they just lined them up she never took one away. I order the Raman. My mother in law the tuna mac n cheese. Father in law the burger of the day and my husband the buffalo chicken My Raman came with pork belly. As you will see from my pic. I didn't get that well they did bring it out 35 min later, burnt on a plate which was weird I was finished eating. However even minus the pork belly the Raman was amazing. Everyone loved there food my mother in law ordered a salad. She never got that either As far as the restaurant. It's so cramped. You have to wiggle around tables to get to the bathroom which isn't easily identifiable not that we expect a huge sign but at least a clear path Food wise we only got a 3rd of what we ordered but what we got was great. Service. A 2 at best im giving a 3 because the food. Service needs a lot of work. And the cramped tables need to be adjusted as well as the expediting of all that people ordered.

Great food. Good drinks. Fair service. Little too stiff of an atmosphere. Maybe dim the lights and play some warmer tunes.

My husband and I visited Social Gastropub using a Groupon recently. We'd heard good things, plus the restaurant has good reviews. I can say the food was very good! The build-your-own Mac and Cheese really hit the spot, and my husband said his sandwich was excellent. But as soon as we finished dinner, our evening went downhill... Our waiter came over immediately to state he'd get us our check. My husband stopped him and asked for a dessert menu, to which he huffed that they don't have one and named off 2 desserts from which we could choose. He said we could think about it and he'd return as he rushed off to other tables, leaving our plates sitting in front of us. We sat and watched him visit other tables once, twice, even 3 times to make sure they had all they needed. Including the one right next to us. He never came back to our table. Finally we sought out the manager who came over and bussed our table. She apologized and said she'd return with our check. Quite a bit of time passed so we again went looking for the manager. She was apparently in the back boxing up some dessert for us, thinking it would smooth things over. It might have if she had told us she was doing that so we'd know what was taking so long! And if she had asked which dessert we wanted (she boxed the opposite of what we were going to order). After refusing the free dessert, we still had to wait for her to get our check. Overall, the food was good but the service needs a lot of improvement. The waiter was not providing the same level of service to all of his tables, while the manager seemed to lack the experience and training needed to handle a customer service issue.

Absolutely love this place! Great atmosphere, delicious food. Great for a nice dinner out. I have been there several times and will continue to go back. So glad this place is in Edwardsville! Also, the staff is friendly and accommodating.

Our party included 10 people....it was nice to see that they have tables that will accommodate this large of a party. We ordered and waited....and waited....and waited. It was almost 2 hours before we got our food....during that time the manager said one of the cooks didn't show up...we saw someone get kicked out of the restaurant with a serious shove out of the establishment. After complaining twice about the wait time....we finally received the main course. The much hyped mac and cheese was cold and my meal was okay but not great. The chicken was dry but the brussel sprouts were great. I had high expectations from seeing the menu on-line. I don't think we will be visiting this establishment again since there are so many other establishments in Edwardsville/Glen Carbon that offer faster service.

This is definitely one of the top restaurants in Edwardsville. Based on multiple visits, I can say that their combination of quality food and service is superior to many esteemed resaurants in Edwardsville. Every time I have been there, I have been greeted warmly by multiple hostesses and seated in a timely and efficient fashion. Each server I have had was knowledgeable about the menu and the establishment and made a genuine effort to be friendly and professional. The RARE mistake or longer-than-desired wait for food was always apologized for and compensated. Food is always well-prepared and very creative and tasty. I have to give a special commendation to bartenders Jessica and Travis. Both are beyond nice and are probably the most qualified bartenders in the area. They go out of their way to be personable and to make your experience special. This restaurant is a game changer for Edwardsville and I highly encourage you to get on board with Social Gastropub.

Wife and I had lunch on the patio. Relaxed environment. Steve was our server and he was friendly and helpful. My wife never had an empty soda glass. She ordered the French Dip sandwich and enjoyed it. I was intrigued by the description of the Noble Pig sandwich (pork cutlets, bacon, pulled pork, chipotle mayo and pickled Fresno chilies) with a fried egg. It was ah-maze-ing. Wife and I both enjoyed the fries. We will go back!

This place was alright, nothing special. Like most people, I always came in here when it was Shenanigan's. I really liked what they did with the interior of the place, making it a bit more classy. Almost looks upscale! I decided to come in last night for old times sake, just to say that I've eaten there. I was already aware the place was pricey, but food was good. The people were right. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, fries and soda. There were many things I wanted to sample, but I had to start somewhere, right? The sandwiches were cut in half, and each half was the size of my middle finger. In other words, small. Not saying it wasn't tasty. They put a lot into that sandwich, including fried pickles! But when I walked out the door I wasn't full and I had spent $12 something on food and drink. That's usually not good with me. Don't get me wrong, service was great, and the server/bartender (blonde who looks like Vanna White) was very great, energetic and full of information. My advice is don't come in here if you're on a budget. I know that gourmet food can be costly, and again I admire places that are creative with their food. I thought this place was going to be college-kid friendly (Edwardsville is a college town), but there was mostly people in their 50s and older there (I was probably the youngest guy in there). I may come back on a special occasion, or if I win the lottery or find rich friends. Good luck

The food was decent. Several items were a little too salty, but overall it was a good experience. The service could be a little tighter.

This type of restaurant is all over the Southbay but this place definitely holds their own. They are as good and better. The kitchen is extremely talented and the drinks are perfect. There's a wait but that's a small price to pay for the experience. A+

Having previously known this establishment as Shenanigan's, I have a special appreciation for Gastropub. They made a dank, ugly old bar with terrible food into a beautiful, airy space with an eclectic menu. The way that they transformed the building's interior was mind-blowing. I've been here several different times. I've had some 3-star waiters (preoccupied, neglecting to tell us specials, etc.) and some 5-star waiters (the awesome Jessica D.), so the staff varies. The menu is different from anything else in town and they are constantly mixing things up and revamping it. I was told that you can follow their Facebook page to track the changes. I wasn't a fan of their heavily featured mac & cheese. I was excited to try it and disappointed by the mac & cheese itself. Love the concept, but it's a let-down. The calamari was too lemony, too. Other than that, I have enjoyed everything else that I have tried, especially their french fries. I'm excited to keep going back and keep trying the new items they add to their menu!

Not my style of restaurant. If not for anniversary would never have tried it. Glad we did. One of the best burgers ever. Got to try their fries or chips, both good. Will be back, got to try their Mac and cheese, looks good. Service was top notch.

Delicious food and real service. Gotta be one of the best restaurants now in Edwardsville.. Popped in with a friend for apps middle of the afternoon and were welcomed, treated like we were actually coming off some money ;) Ashley was sweet, beautiful, pleasant and genuine. Plates were quality ingredients cooked perfectly and touched up every way possible. Tasty. We'll be back for ribs. #yummy Oh yea my crayon graffiti session on the table was one of the most enjoyable things I've done in a while.

The food was fantastic and the staff amazing! We had a party of 14 which included 6 children. Everyone ordered something different. We enjoyed sharing and left without being disappointed. The staff even interacted with our crazy kids! Meals ordered included the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf, Build your own Macaroni, Fire Roasted Peppers and Short Rib Grilled Cheese.

2nd time I've been here and it seems it's already starting a downhill slide. We were with friends and hoping for a fairly quiet evening of conversation but we were seated by the door leading to the patio - which they kept open!! The noise between the piped music and the band was overbearing - we asked our waiter is the door could be close since if we wanted to hear the band, we would have sat out there. Manager came by and explained closing the door was too much of a hassle for the wait staff - when did your staff take precedence over your customers? He at least accommodated us by moving us to another table. And please - train your staff to stop saying they're new and have to run and ask someone a question all the time!!! The food was ok - fries were awesome as always and I had the Cuban which was ok...the others in our party all had the Buffalo Chicken, with mixed reviews. I really want to like this place but something stops me from doing so. When you walk in at 7 on a Friday evening and the place is 3/4 empty does anyone else wonder what's the problem? With so many other places to choose I probably won't be back for awhile.

We drove from Effingham to take my brother out for his birthday. He is a chef and was interested in checking the place out. We made reservations and had no trouble getting seated even though it was very busy. Our server seemed inexperienced but was very nice and attentive. The management had her back when one of our entrees came out wrong and not only fixed the mistake but gave us the incorrect dish to take home. He even agreed to take my bro on a quick tour of the kitchen. All the food we tried was outstanding. The blue cheese chips and smoked salmon dip were both incredible. I personally didn't care for the truffle egg toast, but it wasn't terrible. Our entrees were all cooked to perfection and very tasty. I could go on and on about the entrees, but dessert was my favorite part...the cheesecake...sweet Jesus...it was torched, meaning they set flame to sugar on top of it. The pie and ice cream are homemade, just as comfort food should be. It was a great evening. I will be going back!!

Cross-country drives are not often food successes. Well, just a few miles off of the I-270 bypass is this very nice and well priced place. The tuna had a rare center and the baby greens very fresh

For a pricey nite out...not impressed. Upcharge on side of mac & cheese plain - not anything special. Rubbery meat for a prime rib sandwich. Uninterested server. I'll skip this one next time.

I went with a party of 5 last night and was really excited to try this new place. The place was busy... had a good vibe. The first drinks came out very slow and even though mine was wrong, the drinks were good. This is where all the good ends. We ordered starters and were able to order and finish a 2nd drink before they ever arrived at the table. The calamari was good... the blue cheese chips were also good. We were enticed by the description of the fried devil egg... come on, how doesn't that sound good. But to say it was terrible is an understatement. It probably didn't help that it was cold from probably sitting on counter too long before getting to us, but wow... it was just awful. By the way - the service didn't really get any better. The young kid was trying but his inexperience really showed. So did the inexperience of the bar. I had the same drink each time and it was different each time. They had to come back several times because they were out of what we ordered, but then one drink that listed pumpkin seeds came without them and the other that promised bacon came without. Two had Luxardo cherries (favorite) but apparently they ran out of those. After pointing out, their first reaction was to lie and say it didn't come with it... then came back and admitted they were just out. After all this, we risked still ordering dinner. I think you get the point by now so I'm not going to even bother describing. Lets just say we didn't make the same mistake for desert. In any case, we paid a hefty price for what we got. I'll end by saying I know this place is new. I like the look and feel and really hope they get their act together because Edwardsville could use a place like this. I suspect they will, but I'm going to have to wait a long time before I try again.

We have been there several times, and have enjoyed each visit. We love the blue cheese chips, and the build your own mac and cheese. Good service, but the room can become a bit noisy when large groups attend. They can accommodate several large parties at a time. Well worth the trip.

We went in for drinks late. Our server knew nothing about the beer menu (pub). When I asked about brown ale, she simply looked at the list for the word brown. Not helpful at all. I'll go back to try the food sometime, but it would have to be pretty good to make up for mediocre service.

Amazing food. Worst service I've had in my life. Went to Social with a larger group on a Friday night, but it was far from crowded. The entire dining room was empty and each waiter only had to serve two tables. We had a larger group, but from the time we walked in, the staff forgot about us. It took ten minutes to get waters and about half an hour to get our order taken. When our food finally arrived, they had forgotten one person's in the back (which took another 5-10 minutes). Our waiter was not very personable and was seen standing inside most of the night. The live music concept is great, but the performer was mediocre and the sound was too loud. When I finally got the check, I paid with cash. The server came back with everyone else's cards, but I had to ask for my change because he assumed it was his. The service would have been unacceptable if it had been a packed house, let alone that there were only two to three other tables occupied at any given time that night. We were never thanked when we left, and I doubt I will return. Wanted to love it, but sadly, love don't live here.

Wow has the quality of this place taken a nosedive recently. I have enjoyed dinner here more than ten times but my last three visits have been horrible. Poor service and worse quality control for the food. A blue cheese steak ordered rare was served with no trace of pink and no blue cheese. Salmon scorched on the surface and cold in the center. Creme brûlée runny through and through. Luke warm tea served instead of coffee. Long waits for increasingly shoddy food. I hope they get their act together soon as I really thought Social had promise

My fiancé and I went there last week we both were very excited to see what all the hype was for social. The ambience and Decour were beautiful but that's where it pretty much ended.we were seated by the waiting area which felt a little odd .. Hungry people watching you eat...we ordered the Carolina fried deviled eggs as an appetizer when they came out they were warm at best we weren't sure if they were supposed to be like that so we didn't think too much. We were seated to where we could see in the kitchen and I noticed that there were two dishes sitting in the window that weren't being taken out but all the other entrées were.I was thinking in the back of my head please don't let that be our food still sitting in the window. And sure enough it was 18 minutes later our food that was sitting in the window came out.I had ordered Baja fish tacos they were extremely cold covered and the heaping pile of guacamole and avocado was runny. The fries that came with them tasted like they were a day old and reheated.my fiancé got the fried bologna sandwich and macaroni and cheese. The Mac & cheese was okay but the fried bologna sandwich was also cold to the point where we couldn't even finish it. Now I know some of you are probably reading this saying why when you just send it back... well the both of us have worked in the restaurant industry when we were in college and it's just a rule that you don't send food back. The line cook was not wearing gloves and was touching all of the food while wiping the sweat off of his head. most of the cooks seem to have duck dynasty beards and those were not covered. But aside from the food what bothered me was as a new restaurant and designing a restaurant you would think that there would be more than one server station we noticed that there was only one server station and multiple servers were waiting in line to put in their customers orders.it wasn't all that busy when we were there and we noticed that the server station is right by the hallway where they take out the food to the customer so the servers were bumping into other servers pretty regularly. I normally don't mind paying $20 for an entrée if the food is great but I was pretty disappointed that our bill was $50 and I left still hungry.

Would rate it higher but it was not a very busy night and I never saw my server after food was dropped off. The food was amazing though. Had the Smokin' Salmon and it had just enough spice and the roasted corn casserole was a great side. Edwardsville needed an establishment like this they just need to step up the service side to make the ambiance and food. With that said though I would give it another try next time I am in the area.
