Pretty good food and usually minimal wait. I went there this past saturday and had the cajun chicken sandwich and fries. It was actually pretty good. Shows that you cant judge a rest by reviews..just go and try it..overall, pretty good. Not five star fantastic but def 4-4 1/2 stars

I've heard this place is better for lunch, but don't expect much from this college bar if you want to eat a good meal for dinner. I won't even comment on the terrible atmosphere because of the time I went for a late dinner (10pm) which is when it turns into a college night complete with REALLY loud music, ID checks at the door, and wristband included. They have a pretty poor beer selection if you want anything more local than Kansas City (Boulevard) or less macro than Budweiser. I mean come on, when you're right by a big craft beer city like St. Louis with MANY great beers that are distributed throughout the surrounding states, why couldn't you at least provide Schlafy? Anyways, the food was anything but spectacular. I had salmon which was very overcooked and the fresh veggies tasted like they had been frozen 10 minutes before and an entire shaker of salt had been poured over them with a stick of butter. I couldn't even finish them. Come here if you want to hang out with college kids and have a cheap beer, but don't expect a good (or peaceful) meal. I only went here because it was the only option late at night in the area. The one shining light was my waiter who was very attentive and quick to get things.

This is your typical chain type of sports bar that you can find most places. Very family friendly too. There aren't too many choices in Edwardsville at night so we thought we'd give this place a go. We were seated right away in a booth. Our waitress was very nice and very young, so it was pretty cute when she told us that one of the dressing choices is Parm-Asian based...lol. Their menu is HUGE!!! It really took us a bit to pick something. There is something here for everyone, that's for sure. I ended up getting the "Skinny Grilled Chicken" and hubby got the Chicken Deluxe sandwich with a side salad. My chicken was grilled with a cajun seasoning served over rice. You get 2 sides with that so I got mashed potatoes and seasoned steamed veggies. My food was all really good and my gravy was that brown gravy like I had when I was a kid....like Hodak's gravy or maybe the kind you make w/ the mix or in a jar....not that it was bad, it was just very good. The chicken deluxe was like chicken grilled cheese with bacon.....very yummy! Lots of choices of beer and you can order it "Tall" which is pretty much like 2 beers. I ordered the house Cabernet for 5.00 and it wasn't bad at all. I'm sure we'll stop in again whenever we are in the area. :)

We tried..multiple times..to like this place, not even love it, just like it. Epic fail. First my best friend and I went for lunch once. The menu makes the food sound spectacular. Not so much. It lacks in flavor to the point of making you question what you ordered. The fries aren't even good. How to do you suck up fries?? The second and third times we went was with a group of friends. No one had a good thing to say about the food. The apps and entrees all were flawed. The waiters did their best to serve our party both times, but after the third time of horrendous, flavorless, soggy, poorly cooked, under seasonal food, we're done. It's such a let down. The menu makes you do a process of elimination because so much sounds so good. Not the case. It all sounds good but it's all awful! Too many good places in Edwardsville to end up eating here.

Great place for a larger group to get seated fast and a large menu and something for everyone. We have always had good service and good food there. Love the atmosphere and we can watch sports on television and actually have a conversation at the same time. Some places are so loud you can't hear the person next to you at your table.

I'm going to start with the bad, have to knock off one star because your salt comes with some fries, or at least that the way it's been for me the last couple of times I have stopped in. I tend to meet a friend here for a drink or two as it's half away between our places. They have a nice beer selection, make some better mixed drinks and the food is pretty good, save the fries. They have tons of TV's with a good selection of games on, a nice seating area if you want a regular table, some highboys if you don't and a lengthy bar. Well worth stopping in if you want a few good drinks and might want to catch the tail end of a ball game.

Great service; average food. Restaurant was also very clean.

Nice looking place, food not very good. I left the restaurant still hungry. I asked the server if they had filet mignon, she said no, my husband ordered the house steak.. It was a filet mignon. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was horrible. Gristly meat and rubbery bread. The fries were so salty I couldn't eat them. Very disappointed . I will never eat there again

I had the pepper corn burger. The lettuce was soggy, the bacon was as thin as paper, the tomato was just as then and discolored and the whole thing when lifted up dripped enough grease to fill my plate. The bartender was attentive but the food was subpar.

My second time here and I love it. Great service: friendly and attentive. Great ribs, seasoned fries, and toasted ravioli. My wife had tilapia and shrimp. Lots of flavor and a very fresh taste. Huge beer selection and lots of TVs. Highly recommended.

This restaurant was not very impressive, the first time we went there it was during dinner and the place was busy and everything went normal without being exceptionally great. We decided to try it again for lunch one day that was a BIG mistake, we were waited on by someone who seemed to be a manager (was not in a waiter uniform) and was not very attentive to us at all, even though there were only 2 other people in the whole restaurant besides us. I never got a refill on my drink, we waited a very long time for our food, and when we did it was horrible. The fries tasted old and the sandwich I ordered tasted very plain, my boyfriend didn't even get the burger he ordered but decided to eat it anyway since the "waiter" never returned to our table. Then after waiting another 20 minutes for our check (still no refill on the drinks) we finally got the hell out of there. I think the worst part is that I never got a reply from them when I e-mailed them a complaint that day, honestly I don't think I deserved to pay over $30 for that Bullsh*t (Yeah! Our bill was over 30 dollars for 2 crappy sandwiches, cold fries, mozzarella sticks, and the stupid drinks we never got refills on)

Overpriced. Slightly better than mediocre service. Slightly less than mediocre food. Not close to worth what you pay.

They are pretty good. The atmosphere is alright and the food for the most part is pretty good. I wouldn't say that you get outstanding service every time you go there, but I will definitely go back every once in a while.

The service was great; our waiter was friendly and informative. I got the turkey club sandwich which was delicious; perfect combo of ingredients. My friend got the fish tacos and said the same. Ambience is your typical restaurant/bar type place with a big menu to choose from. $3 Long Island ice teas on Thursdays and their kitchen stays open later than a lot of other places.

Not amazing, not bad. Quality food. Friendly staff. Have interesting food choices like Bison, but if you order the exotic late, you may have to wait extra long for them to thaw it. In a slow restaurant we waited 40 minutes for our food after ordering. And it came without apologies because of course we should have expected to wait for something that was on the menu. Sad thing was they held the rest if the food and it was Luke warm and the kids were starving by the time it came. Only happened once, but it was a year before I went back. I just didn't order the bison.

After searching high and low for a sports bar in Edwardsville, my buddy and I ended up at Bull & Bear Grill and Bar, despite the low overall reviews it received. For us, it was more about "can we see the Blues game AND the Cardinals game at the same time?" On this, Bull and Bear came through. Yes, there were places known for their wild wings and others known for their tight shirted big breasted waitresses, but those places are always crowded, and frankly, we didn't want the distractions. With such low quality reviews, I was expecting some crap service and even crappier food, but I have to tell you, last night was a pretty successful night for them. With 20 minutes before game time, we walked in the door and were immediately seated. For the first time in my life, when the lady asked me if the table was ok, I had to tell her it wasn't. "I have to be able to see the hockey game." She smiled, looked at my Blues T-Shirt, and apologized, then gave us a table right by the TV showing the hockey game. (I get that the Cardinals are the bigger draw, so I won't complain that only 3 of the 20 something TV's had the Blues game on!) As far as food goes, I had a Bison burger which turned out to be pretty damned good, not the best, but pretty good, and fries which again were quite good. (As a response to those complaining about the fries, I think their salt shaker is working correctly now!) My buddy had the pulled pork sandwich and fries, and again, it had to be good because he was done before I got half way through my burger! Sitting and watching two games gets pretty tiring, so we split a couple of pitchers of beer and ended up ordering some of the half price appetizers, and I went for a brownie sundae later in the night. I was a bit confused when the waitress brought my sundae with two spoons in it, both because it wasn't something I would consider large enough to share, but also because of the look my buddy gave me when I showed him the other spoon. It kind of felt like they were assuming this was more than just two guys watching the games? Anyway, I'd like to give Bull & Bear Grill and Bar that last star, but I just couldn't find a reason more valid than to help bring its average rating up. It deserves better than the 3.5 stars it had when I looked into it. I would advise anyone considering this place to try it for themselves, it's not nearly as bad as it looks!

I was excited to find this place while in Granite City- the motel owner pointed the way. It was college night with $1 domestics. If you're a college student, you should check it out! However, if you're looking for a deep beer selection, a unique menu, and/or better than average food... I recommend looking elsewhere.

They used to be pretty good when they first converted from Kreiger's. They've recently made "improvements" to their menu, which has actually lessened the quality. My dad and I used to go there, and we would usually order the same thing every time (because it was good). He would get their taco salad and I would get their chicken quesadilla. Well the taco salad has changed and they no longer have the Southwest Chipotle sauce, although the waiter and manager insist they do, but they don't. The quesadilla had very little chicken and it was shredded and dry like canned chicken. Needless to say there is absolutely no reason for me to ever return there.

We had a terrible visit. Regrettably, I went and asked the store manager to have his servers tie back their very long hair. (Our server had hair draping over her serving tray.) Yuck. We watched her hair touching the food at the table next to ours. She was obviously upset and angry at me. The service the rest of the visit was horrendous. Food n soft drinks for my family of 6 was $75. Food with out hair all over it isn't too much to ask... Or do I thought.

Typically pizza consists of 3 main ingredients: doe, sauce and cheese. At bull and the bear sauce doesn't seem to be a key ingredient! Lmao. It was brutal. Pizza needs sauce. I don't get that logic. I need an explanation.

I've been here twice. The first time was OK, but unmemborable. It looks the same as everywhere else, with TVs all over the place. The food is, for the most part, fine. The last time, though, we were a little confused by some of the aspects of our dinner. Why was the grilled shrimp served luke warm? How come the "Italian Beef" was really just a French Dip? Why is the coffee so bad?

Last stop on Tour "Basket-o'-Gift-Cards-won-at-Fundraiser." Matt S. is a natural host-server. On a gray rainy early evening, he met us at the door with a smile and warm greeting. Our questions about the gift card and gluten-free options were answered politely, even enthusiastically. Hire staff members who work like Matt, and you'll create enough goodwill for an extra star every time. The B & B menu has the sort of variety you would expect in a casual dining restaurant. I quickly focused in on the burgers, noticing that in addition to beef, turkey, and veggie, I could get a BISON burger. I ordered mine as a California (avocado) grilled medium with fries and a side salad. Two of my tablemates had other varieties of bison burger, and the third had a NY strip steak. Everyone was pleased with very good flavor and generous portions. Bull & Bear is definitely an improvement over its predecessor "Krieger's." Krieger's was at the extreme edge of aural comfort, even for a sports bar. I have a clear memory of yelling so tablemates could hear me, as loud at lunch as late night with a dance band. Hoarseness on a weekday afternoon is not attractive in my work world, and two visits to Krieger's was enough for me. The atmosphere at B&B is a little calmer. Thanks, Matt S., kitchen staff, and owners for very good family fare, and excellent service. May the New Year be more "bull" than "bear" for you.

Two stars because our waitress was really great. I would only give 1 star for the food. I ordered an 8 ounce New York Strip but I don't know what I actually got. It had so much gristle in it I could barely eat it. There was absolutely nothing special about it either. No spices - nothing. I had to add salt and pepper just to eat it. The green beans were naked too. No onion, bacon, salt or pepper in them. They were so bland. The potato was the saving grace but then again it's pretty hard to mess up a baked potato. We stopped by while we were in town for a gymnastics meet so I doubt I will ever go here again. I would like to say that our waitress was super nice and super attentive and that helped the experience somewhat but it doesn't mask the low quality food they serve. Sorry.

Love love love this place, very close to SIUE so the atmosphere is usually pretty good. The food is great and the staff is nothing but friendly. A few more TVs and I think it would be my perfect hangout spot. Try it sometime!

We can each only write about our own experiences; and that is what I'm doing. The server was very polite and attentive and the food was very good. We had the Boatload of Nachos as an appetizer and I could've eaten just that for my meal! My son had the 8 oz. New York Strip and gave me a bite - wow! Was it tender! Usually, you don't expect as much from this cheaper cut of steak but what he was served was cooked exactly as ordered and very tender. I had the (recommended by the server) beef brisquit sandwich and it was very good. Two choices of BBQ sauce; I chose spicy and it was just right. Fries were good, too. For dessert we went with the molten lava chocolate cake. I'd have liked a little more "lava" in it but it was warm and tasty. No complaints on our visit!

Just returned from Bull and Bear. With the closing of Shenanigans you would feel this place would blossom. We arrived to approx. 20 people in the restaurant a waitress greeted us and she served our beverages. Unbeknown to us it was shift change, we waited until I was parched so I proceeded to the bar to order another beer. I was greeted by a very curt bartender who was more interested in finding out who my waitress was then serving a beverage. When I returned our new waitress had arrived, she was very quick to get our food order. The food was served in a timely matter, but the steak was tough., my pork chops were dry and potato skins were definitely microwaved. In the 1 1/2 hours we were there the men's room was out of paper towels from the time we got there until we left. Was very disappointed between service, cleanliness and food value. I will only go back to redeem a coupon if even then.
