I can only speak to the buffet food here as we've never ordered off the menu. We meet here every few years or so for a family gathering. The staff has always been efficient and accommodating. The Sunday buffet consists of several breakfast items like bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy and pastries, plus some lunch items such as roast beef, fried chicken and mashed potatoes, plus salad, fruit and dessert. The latest time we were there they had a roast pork with Jerk sauce that was great! The historic mansion and grounds are fairly well kept. The only thing that kept me from a 3 star review here is the price of the buffet, $15.50, seems just a bit high for the selection.

Very nice, big, old house on a back street. Might be the nicest restaurant in Dwight. A very pleasant surprise.

Unlike the last review, i have an opposite review of this great restaurant. This a great place to eat,and the food is delicious here. The buffet is excellent with a big selection offered on it. You can also order off the menu and the prime rib is very good and they know how to serve it.Me & my gf come here from out of town and we look forward to it.The servers our nice & friendly and the atmosphere is older style with lots of antiques around. The prices our not bad either comparable to any chain restaurant.

I visited the Country Mansion once maybe ten years ago and remember it as having a casual and relaxed atmosphere and really good food. I made reservations for a Sunday brunch recently and ran into a slight problem. After I made the reservation, I called back to ask them to add a high chair to my existing reservation and was told that I couldn't because there wasn't enough room! On one hand, I'm glad I called before we drove all the way down there. On the other hand, how can a restaurant not make room for one more diner - and a baby at that!?! I asked to speak to the manager and was told that wasn't possible, as they were too busy. I was very put off by the whole experience and won't be making any more reservations with the Country Mansion.

I can see why this place gets fantastic reviews. The only bad review I read talks about $15 as being to high for a buffet. I thinks that sounds like a deal. I didn't actually see the buffet food just the abundance of trays for the food. We dined the day after V day and all ordered the $12.99 Prime Rib Special I got the French Onion soup it was very salty to me and they happily offered me the other soup when the server saw I didn't eat very much of the soup. Prime ribs tasted like Prime Rib and the Double Baked Potatoes were fantastic. The $4 Kids Hamburger was huge and came with a large Mac and Cheese. The crab stuffed mushrooms and the bread sticks have to be my favorites. Planning on going back for the Sunday brunch in the near future.

We stopped in the Friday before Valentine's day, and were surprised that this place was not flooded with people. It was downright sparse. We took a table in the lounge, which has a nice fireplace that was kept going with several logs while we were there. Our drinks were very good - my wife noted that they must chill or freeze their Vermouth, since her martini was nice and cold. I ordered their french onion soup special, which had lots of onions and cheese, and came out hot enough but not "smoking, wait 10 minutes for it to cool down or burn your mouth" hot like other places. Our entrees were both good - I went with a steak, and my wife went with one of their seafood specials. We had the lounge to ourselves. There were some distractions - the TV in the lounge had "The Wheel of Fortune" on. Given the sparse business, I can see why the bartender needed some entertainment, but it seemed out of place. It got better when the Charlie Brown Valentine Special came on. In addition, at one point there was a distractingly loud conversation from what sounded like the owner / manager and the bartender, that kind of disrupted the mood. Still, given the price, the room (nice room), and the food, I'm at a loss to explain why this place wasn't packed on a Friday night. No free WIFI - if that is a deal breaker for you, too bad.

There for Sunday bunch lots of food, but everything was cold, including the eggs and meat items. I love biscuits and gravy but theirs was not something I would try again. Too bad as we had heard good things about this place

A wonderfully quaint location 90 minutes outside Chicago in Dwight Illinois....and the prison is closed btw (ha!)....a beautiful old mansion where many of the weddings out here are staged...first, the Iced Tea is made with well water...so it is a bit soft...but all 5 stars from there...I had the 10 oz. bacon wrapped pork chop (center cut), with green beans instead of potato...and a salad with homemade blue cheese dressing with crumbles as well...they used Maytag....the pork chop was amazingly juicy and done medium rare the way I requested...the green beans were excellent and the salad dressing was beyond compare....I was alone in the dining room as I arrived between the morning brunch and the dinner rush....been here many times and with friends it is a meal and destination to remember....a must go!!! I give it 5/5....I will rarely rate this high, but this place NEVER disappoints!!!! JV
