If their motto is "grease is good" they they succeed. Fried foods is what this place does best.

Ate here recently. Three in our party had the chicken fingers and fries. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and delicious. The fries have significantly improved since the last time I was in here. They came out hot and crispy. The other person in our party had the double-cheeseburger with fries. He made it a point to ask me why I had not bothered to bring him to this restaurant sooner. When we were finished eating the owner joked with us and hoped we enjoyed everything (we did). I would recommend this place to anyone in the area. It's a nice family owned restaurant with good food.

If want good chicken this not a bad place to stop and get some.. My family wanted both quarters and strips . I tried both and I can say they are both good along with the fries and rings.. Price is fair and I sure can't complain . Not a bad place actually very good..

Certainly seems like a local hangout for the older folks. My friends and I went on a weekend for ladies night out since the bars around didn't really offer any food at that time unless we wanted frozen pizza. Not being from the area I decided that we should give it a try. I had the chicken fingers with their homemade sauce. It was rather yummy sauce and the chicken was cooked well. I am pretty picky about my chicken, I like it more on the dry side too. Nice place, small though and the food took a while to come out. One thing I must mention...THE DRINKS ARE HUGE! Biggest cups ever, but hey you get thirsty when you are eating all that chicken.

Great chicken strips, friendly, friendly folks. You get a "heap" of strips and great dipping sauce. I think the salad served in a styrofoam dish and a not quite baked potato kept me from giving this place more stars! Can't beat location, but restaurant a little run down.

This place rocked! Chicken tenders are some of the best I ever had and Mike and his family truly understand what hospitality is all about. We were first timers and were greeted with a sample of the fare before we even ordered anything. You also have to check out the washroom......if you can find it!

It's good. They have very good, very unhealthy food. The cardiac problems are worth it. The fries are great. The insides outdated and the service is good.

Always a great place. It comes into a close tie with Rip's in Ladd, with bonus points for not being an hour away. Girlfriend and I will usually order a half order of onion rings as an appetizer, a kid's chicken strip dinner to split and an extra order of fries, and that's more than enough to fill us up (I am not a light eater, either). Have contemplated having them cater our wedding many times, it's that good. Probably would make the dance floor a little sluggish, though. If they're not open when you go by, at least stop and get a photo next to the fiberglass chicken as a souvenir. Beats taking your picture down the street next to a statue of Ronald Reagan on a smaller-than-scale horse any day. No credit cards, not open on Mondays.

Bryce Young was a man without a high school education, but he was extremely hard-working and had a knack for running good local restaurants in and around the Dixon, IL area. He began with a drive-in restaurant (hard to find anymore unless you eat at a Sonic) and then bought a former roadhouse-turned-restaurant just outside the city limits called The White House in the mid-1950's. He and his brothers ran that restaurant for almost 20 years, and the main staple on the menu from his earliest days was his chicken. Bryce's chicken became famous in the area - so famous that when he sold The White House, he had to sign a legal agreement not to sell chicken anywhere in the area for an entire year. When the year was up, Bryce opened Sis's Inn (named after his wife) in the mid-1970's. Armed with his chicken, his soup bar, and a know-how of 'you do it my way', Bryce once again had another success on his hands. He rode that success until his wife Sis became extremely ill and passed away. For a while after that, in the early 90's Bryce operated out behind a liquor store in town with a take-out only chicken business. Since Bryce left, the business has been passed on to his nephew Mike, who opened BBY chicken in Dixon at an old Prince Castle restaurant location in downtown, just off the Rock River The atmosphere is family-diner-ish, and as someone who has eaten Bryce's chicken for over 4 decades, I can tell you that Mike and the Young family have kept it the way Bryce would want it. Is it healthy? Of course not. It just tastes SO good. The chicken is moist and tender, and the pieces are huge, just as they always have been. And, yes, the chicken strips are also huge and good. Kudos to Mike and the family for keeping it going and keeping it real. Get off of I-88 and stop in at Dixon. Forget the Ronald Reagan home - this is the best thing to come out of Dixon.

Great fried chicken. Simply some of the best I've ever had. Three stars because as good as the chicken and price is their sides (and I mean all of them-we've tried) are disappointing and they could consider adding in plastic utensils and napkins or at least offering it. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Now cash only. Oh yeah they take checks (calling 1988) and complain about NSF checks on the wall. 4square anyone?

They have the best chicken strips in the universe. Period. Mike the owner will do anything he can to make sure you are happy. I personally hate the special sauce, but he told me once he sells gallons of it a week. He also has fried cheese curds- and the real ones!! OMG i just want to swim around in the basket with them they are so good. I mean come on- who doesn't love cheese?!?! Mike also like to get creative on Fridays- he usually makes some random thing in the kitchen that night and shares free samples with anyone who wanders in. If you have never tried this place- do it, you wont be sorry!

Awesome! Stopped in for the first time and Mike gave us samples of his chicken strips, mashed potatoes, onion rings and even a fried Twinkie! They were all so good my sister and I were full before we even ordered. Mike and his staff/family were super cool and the chicken is great. But, their chicken strips are outstanding! Can't wait to go back.

BBY's fried chicken is legendary in Dixon, but I actually prefer their fried pickles. They're cut into slices, not spears, and deep fried in beer batter. I can't quite put my finger on what the sauce tastes like, but it's phenomental. Oh, and the chicken car makes me smile.

This might in fact be the greasiest food you've ever eaten. It's insane. But delicious. I would advise against not eating this every day!! They mostly do delivery and take out, so they only have a few tables to sit at in the restaurant, but when you do sit down, the service is great and nice.

Great chicken and onion rings. The food is hot, greasy, and Delicious. They have a number of things on their menu, but I am not willing to venture away from the chicken and onion rings. They are outstanding. This food is not for the faint of heart -- literally. The cholesterol shield of batter on their chicken and rings is simply amazing. The rings are thin cut, but come with a very generous batter coating. The chicken is a good portion size and always nice and moist -- undoubtedly from the pool of grease that is found at the bottom of the container it comes in. BBY -- MMMMMM -- please have someone trained in CPR and a defib. close by after eating.

I can't see the basis for the glowing reviews - maybe nostalgia because it's been there so long - I don't know. When I saw comparisons to Ripp's in Ladd I had to write a review. I have to disagree- Ripp's is far and away a better chicken place. We ordered the mushrooms as an appetizer and they were great. Perfectly fried, whole mushrooms (not the ground up mushrooms that you sometimes get). The chicken was so-so. It wasn't bad - but it wasn't great either. It was your average fried chicken from your average restaurant. You get your choice of potato - one being baked potato - but on each table was a bottle of liquid Parkay margarine so I ordered the mashed potatoes instead. They were ok - definitely instant - with a kind of funky gravy. The cole slaw was very unusual - to tell you the truth I don't know if I liked it or didn't - it was borderline. It had a sour taste to it like they made it with sour cream rather than mayonnaise. If you are going to eat here make sure you go to the bathroom before you come. The bathrooms are down a steep flight of steps - and there is a warning that the steps are dangerous and they are not responsible if something should happen to you. It's like going to the bowels of the earth. However, should you really like the food here a trip to the bathroom will reveal all the secrets necessary to duplicate the experience including the brand of breading for the chicken. I will say this - the food was not terrible - it was ok and somewhat satisfying and the prices were certainly reasonable. The 1/2 chicken dinner is like $7.00 including potato and salad. If you are very hungry and watching your budget and find yourself in Dixon then stop in. Otherwise, skip it.

Went there for the food and it was as good as we expected! If you like fried food this is the place for you! What we were pleasently suprised with was the extra care the owner gave to our family. He hand delivered our food across the street to the beautiful river tables. In a time where good service is hard to come by he went above and beyond our expectations! Only thing better then the food was the owners commitment to excellent service! very pleased!!
