I'm in town on business and this place is right down the street. Couldn't be any more convenient. Small little cafe style authentic Thai restaurant with Asians cooking your food. That is what I love about this place. I have eaten here 4 times in the past week and don't have anything to complain about. Their prices are hard to beat as well.

This is a tough one, as I spent many a happy lunch hour with a simpatico (yes, it can be an adjective) colleague. And at times the food was great. I remember a large bowl of Tom Yum that was so good I wanted to swim in it. Also, the employees are always friendly, the décor is warm and cute, and the place is as neat as the proverbial button. I would give everything but the food a 5, and the food (recently) a 2.5, if Yelp would let me. So I'll go with 3. So you're waiting for the "but"...here it is....came here recently at lunch time. The place was busy, although there was not a line. We waited quite a while for a server (not a big deal) and she asked us if we wanted appetizers. We asked for spring rolls. She said, "Are you in a hurry?" We were not sure how to respond to that. They're spring rolls, which, according to me, don't take that long, and according to vegetarian.about.com/od/… are "a quick, no cook meal." We say...."Um, how long?" She shakes her head; the "please don't order these" shake of the head. We acquiesce, ordering the fish cakes instead. Upon a few bites, my friend says...."What do you think of these?" (He's so kind.) I said..."Um. Spongy?" He agreed. They were tasty, yet quite spongy. I could have cleaned my sink with one of them. Meanwhile, we both ordered the lunch specials. Specials come with egg roll and soup. The egg roll had nothing but cabbage in it and the soup was an amazing array of water and starch. In addition, the main course was tiny and lackluster. My stir fried basil/ground chicken was not particularly tasty, and the chicken had a toughness to it that suggested some sort of fry/boil. My friend's pad kee mao seemed similarly blah. He's too polite to say so, however. The whole thing seemed rushed and not prepared with much care. Would I go back? Yes. I've had good food here, so there's always hope. But like many Thai restaurants, the food really varies. One day is perfection; the next 2.5 stars on Yelp. I'll try again, and perhaps go with tried and true Pad Thai. We'll see.

A small BYOB establishment with great food. Must try their crab rangoon, by far the I've ever had. Lard Nar, Pad-Woonsen, Cida Chicken Curry and Massaman Curry just some of my favorites. Service is great even when the place is crowded.

I have been a loyal customer to Cida since high school because the people are always so friendly (especially the owner - SO nice). Besides the great service, the food is flavorful, cooked to perfection, and decently priced. I like trying new things every once in a while and I am never disappointed. It is BYOB You must try the crab rangoon Great spot for a cozy romantic night out - Shoutout from your Lonestar friend! :)

I was stuck at Discount Tire while my winter tires were being mounted to new wheels, so I tried out Cida during my wait, which is 1 block away. It was cold today so I tried the spicy green curry..it was super delicious! I ordered it with tofu, and it came with a eggplant, bamboo shoots, and green peppers. The menu said it was spicy, and it lived up to it's advertising! I asked the server before ordering "Is this spicy by default?", she responded with "Have you ever had curry"? Kind of a weird response since all I was wondering if it's hot by Thai standards, even though the menu eluded that it was spicy. I wasn't born yesterday, and yes I have had several curry dishes in my day. Often when something is labeled spicy, it can be mild depending on the restaurant. Not sure if there was a communication barrier or if she was making fun of me. I went in early for dinner, around 4:45p on a Saturday, and there was one couple there when I arrived. By the time I left, there were four other groups/families in there (each with 4+ people), one person stopped by for take out. Seems to be popular place in the neighborhood. It is BYOB, decor is bright and funky, and I like the bar/counter construction. Music could be better. Service was fast and attentive.

Don't know why this is not a five star across the board. Light and fresh flavors, great staff, and the chef has custom prepared chicken dishes for our picky eater. We drive over 45 min to come here and only because it is worth the drive!

This place is a gem. Thai food lover and pro chef myself. Their noodle dishes are very flavorful and thai curries are all legit. Prices are cheap too! We order takeout once a week and BYOB for dine in just puts this place over the top. I've tried most thai places in the (630) and this place has me driving all the way from naperville.

I love this place! Very friendly service, very tasty food, always a good experience. I tend to order either the Pad Thai or the Pad Si Ew (or whichever spelling is the current accepted one), and always walk away happy. I've also gotten adventurous and enjoyed everything I've tried. The little thai custard desserts are yummy, and I just love the staff here. I'm sad on Mondays when I'm in a mood for Thai, since they're not open on those days. Any other day, enjoy!

Really liked this authentic Thai restaurant. Will visit it often. Locals know it, make an effort to find it. You won't be disappointed.

Great food, really good prices, friendly staff, clean, with a mix of modern and traditional decor, and BYOB without corkage fees... Yeah... we love this place!! The family and I stopped in to Cida Thai for dinner the other day, and everyone including myself, fell in love with the place. Whether it was the delicious food, or the ability to consume your outside pre-purchased alcoholic libations, this place just plain rocked. Upon entering we were seated immediately. Water was poured and our orders were placed within minutes. The waitress was friendly and very helpful. Gazing around everything seemed to be very clean, and the decor was somewhat traditional with a modern twist. Not a huge place by any means, but more than able to accommodate the rush or larger crowds. After cracking open some Fat Tires, our appetizer arrived - Crab Rangoons. Holy crap... best crab rangoons... ever! Without a doubt. They were fresh, the fried wrap tasted like elephant ears, and the filling was heavenly. I love watching my eight year old try new things and completely fall head over heals. Next time I'll remember to take pictures of her faces before and after trying something new...completely opposite. Sufficed to say, CRAB RANGOONS are a MUST! After apps, our entrees were served, piping hot, consisting of the Stir Fried Garlic Shrimp, my Roast Duck Curry (I ordered HOT), and the little one's Shrimp Tempura. Everything tasted fresh, with obvious attention paid to even the slightest details and ingredients. The curry was amazing. Served with Steamed White Rice, I could taste every single thing that went into making the dish, most notably the coconut milk. One word - Awesome. The duck was tender, pineapples were like candy, and the extra heat definitely kicked the Curry up a notch. I sampled my wife's Garlic Shrimp, which she raved about. Without a doubt it was another solid entree served to our table. The little one's face upon viewing her Shrimp Tempura wasn't that of absolute delight, but once she dug in, the frown turned upside-down. Add some Sweet & Sour sauce to the mix, and the kid tore through her meal in minutes. Plate licked clean! At the conclusion of our stellar dinner, just when we thought it couldn't get better, dessert was ordered... The Fried Banana with Ice Cream. Freaking amazing. Slightly resembling a spring roll, these fried wrapped mini-bananas were served hot, drizzled with chocolate sauce, and topped with rainbow sprinkles. Add some vanilla ice cream to this modern twist, and you my friend have a dessert for three well worth the $4.99. Cida Thai just made a Top-Five list somewhere in our books... Most gracious!

We have been comming here for years. ( about 7years) Its not even our neighbrhood place. The food is excelente! But the service sucks!!! They are never friendly. Even the owner is like that. We were not happy with the service and the waitress went to complain to bim about us and he took her side. J

Cida is a suburban gem even though it is located in a strip mall off of two very busy streets. The decor is nothing to write home about but it is always neat and clean. I also enjoy the tiny vases filled with M&M's that they refill each time the table is cleaned. Cida offers a lunch special starts at $5.99 and changes in price based on what you order. The lunch special ends at 3 and beware that they are not open on Monday's. I have only been to Cida for their lunch special, which includes a tiny spring roll, small soup and an entree. I tend to order the Thai Fried Rice with shrimp and greatly appreciate that they shrimp are actually fresh and not those horrible frozen shrimp that have the texture of rubber and no flavor like many other Thai/Chinese restaurants tend to use. I just really wish that the portions were a little bit bigger (hence a 3 star rating). In all fairness, if I am paying $8 for fried rice, I expect to walk away feeling satisfied, which is not always the case at Cida. There are quite a few places in the Chicago that I frequent whose portions are enough to take leftovers home and it makes me feel like I am getting a bang for my buck. Because the food is so good, I keep going back even if it means that I leave a bit hungry. I guess that's not always a bad thing though :).

This place was my intro to Thai food and it is to this day, my favorite Thai food anywhere. My favorite dish is chicken or shrimp Pad Thai, and get it SPICY. It is the perfect balance of taste and texture and you are sad to see you've finished it. The Pad Thai is also gluten free so it is a great place to go with my Fiancé who cannot eat gluten. The cashew chicken is also a good dish, it is sweet, spicy, fruity, crunchy and all around great. I have never had the service be anything but great and one of the best parts...its a BYOB place which is great at dinner time. They also do a great lunch special to give you a taste of a few different things.

LESS PRESENTS, MORE FOOD!!!! The food at Cida Thai is good, but the portions are small. I ordered the ginger chicken and without exaggeration, I can say that there were no more than 5 tiny pieces of chicken in my plate. Being that this was dinner and that it was so priced, I expected a reasonable amount of food. The rice was on the low quality end, unlike many Thai restaurants that serve premium jazmine rice. The ambiance was nice and the staff friendly. My child even got a little Easter egg with chocolate in it, but I can't say we'll go back.

OOOH... a new high point for my belly. First of all, it's BYOB and in the burbs- a rare commodity that's deserving of 5 stars. The food does not disappoint. To start I got the vegetarian style Tom Yum soup with tofu and it was the absolute best Tom Yum soup I have ever had! Perfect spice, plenty of tofu and other ingredients, and good portion size. I think if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life I would go with this. The tofu satay appetizer was just okay... next time I'd defo do the spring rolls as I saw almost every table in the place get them. Or maybe I'd just get a large Tom Yum soup. For my meal I got the Evil Jungle, extra spicy, vegetarian style. It has eggplant, mushroom, baby corn, green beans, tofu, basil, broccoli, red curry paste, and coconut milk with a side of rice. I ate it until I thought my insides were hemorrhaging... but in a satisfying and tasteful way ie- I only hade to undo the very top button my pants. My BF got one of their signature dishes, the Shrimp with glass noodles. It's served in a clay pot and it has BACON, onion, mushroom, pea pods, LOTS of healthy shrimp, and brown sauce. I was pretty much crying inside knowing my non-vegetarian bf was partaking in Thai food with bacon in it, a dream of mine. *sigh* For dessert we got the fried banana with vanilla ice cream. It's a funny dessert because it comes with 5 fried bananas that look like egg rolls and big mound of vanilla ice cream with honey and some sugar goodness with a little American flag on top. I'm not sure what the deal with the flag was but it was worthy of me getting my camera out to take a photo of. The place looks like it's a hole in the wall from the outside but the inside proves it's uniqueness. On a very stormy (trees going horizontal from wind and rain) Friday night, when my bf and I went, every table was packed. We got the last open spot and the place stayed packed until we left. It's also right next to a wine and spirits store so if you forget your booze you won't be out of luck. The service is perfect for the place. No one is bending over backwards but everyone wants you to have the best possible experience at all costs. I will defo back... maybe even a few times each week. 5 Sexy Stars for Cida Thai.

Red curry all day long! Some of their items are a little sub par, but the curries are all on point. The Pad Thai is ok, needs lots of lime. Lard Nar needed a bit of salt. Crab rangoon (typical), fried tofu (typical). This place is BYOB (bonus star!) and has hilarious, southern kitschy decor. I'm talking ruffled curtains, wooden kitchen chairs etc.

  • Alison B.

We like the food here, prices reasonable, but they have weird delivery availability (not on Sundays? wtf) and are kind of rude. They always mess up my order (I'm allergic to onions) and then argue with me or expect me to drive the 15min back to prove it. Gah, but we keep going back since the food is pretty decent. Just check your carry-out order before you leave :)

Visited for the first time tonight. Service was pretty fast. We came in after 9:00 pm on Friday night, and they close at 10:00. Chicken eggs rolls were not great. Mostly cabbage and tasted bland. Crab Rangoon was different than any I've ever had and was really good. Very flavorful. Shrimp pineapple curry was mediocre. The sauce was very thin and not much flavor but the ingredients were fresh and tasty. About 5 shrimp in the whole dish. Prices here are comparable to north side and downtown Chicago Thai places. Not sure how they compare to other suburban Thai places. I would probably go back, but I would order something else.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Cida yet. This has my vote as the best Thai food in the La Grange,Western Springs, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, and Westmont corridor. The parking situation is not great-- next to a laundry and liquor store and not very deep. The interior seems to be in the moderately priced Asian restaurant category. Not a huge number of tables here, as the space is pretty narrow. Our table had to get the Crab Rangoon, as it has been justifiably praised here and elsewhere. Not really a Thai dish, but it's certainly a crowd pleaser. The pad Thai here is very good -- worth a detour. The curries are also very nice. If your commute takes you through the 55th and La Grange road intersection, you'd be missing out if you don't stop here for dinner or carry out.

  • Renee P.

Pretty good! The crap Rangoon was delicious as other reviews stated. Also the pad Thai was nice too. The turn off was it's next door to a laundry mat. Whoa! I did have an "ALL EYES ON ME" moment when I arrived (WHITE customers staring as they haven't seen a BLACK person before in their life--ugh!). Other than that would I come back? I don't live close, however this was a once in a lifetime moment..

Solid food in a good clean environment. Good for a casual date night or lunch. The service was friendly and attentive. You could tell the owners take pride in their food and the ingredients were fresh.

Inexpensive lunch specials, but big portions! It's a nice change from the Italian and Mexican restaurants on La grange road in country side. Don't forget to get a dessert.

  • Ash K.

Visited the restaurant few minutes before 3pm for lunch, took couple minutes to get seated the staff was extremely rude by telling me they would not offer lunch as it is past 3pm. The manager came out to tell they don't make soup after 3pm, it was not relevant as order did not contain soup. Weird! Then the manager lady goes on saying only dinner portion is available rudely. Not sure if staff knows how to talk with customers. Food quality is fine however staff is unprofessional!

Good food, BYOB, next to liquor store. Owners are nice, decor is bit ordinary. Take out is always great. I recommend the Beef pad woonsen and vegetables fried rice.it's really good.the spring rolls are good too.overall it's a good choice for a casual night out.

I love this place, I've been going here for 10 years. I normally just order carry out. Usually the food is ready within 15 minutes. I ordered yesterday (Mother's Day) and they explained the wait would be 45 minutes. I went in to pick up the food but I had to wait a little bit. The staff were very busy running around accommodating guests and apologetic for the wait. Super nice staff. The food was really good! I always get the chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce and chicken padwoonsen. The only negative is parking is limited in front. Best Thai food in the area.

Still in love w this place and to follow up-- yes, they do have a corkscrew for your wine!!

Be very careful with any carry out orders. We ordered today, they read it back and still prepared 2 orders with the wrong protein. Usually restaurants want to please their customers; not so at Cida. They insisted that I was wrong. They offered to prepare new food if I was willing to drive back to get it and wait for them to prepare the new orders. Most restaurants will credit your account for your future orders. We were very disappointed with our experience today.

  • Julie J.

I have gone in and typically had good service and pretty good food. On my last visit, however, I went on a weekday evening with my sister. It took over 20 minutes to even get our order in, and what has been quick, prompt service previously was lost that evening. Their food is pretty good, though nothing that will blow you out of the water. My sister ordered a dish and she asked for it without an ingredient, and it came out with it. I will return to see if it was just an "off night," but was disappointed on my last visit.

  • Jessica A.

Underwhelming at best, definitely nowhere near 4-5 star cuisine. My husband, daughter and I were visiting from Cincinnati, and decided to take advantage of the restaurant's delivery service. We ordered 2 orders of Chicken Pad Thai, requesting one "on the mild side" and one "medium to spicy". When the food arrived, they were not marked, and worse yet, we could not tell the difference between the two. Aside from the spice, the dish was relatively flavorless and the noodles were sticky & mushy. We also ordered 2 soups, pot stickers and an order of tofu fried rice- all unremarkable. The price was fair for the amount of food we got (the bill came to around $38), and the portions were what you'd expect for take-out Thai, unfortunately, in our case, that just meant a lot of wasted food.

Love the quality of chicken in all of the dishes I've tried. I tried the crab Rangoon based on other reviews, and it's good, but different.

Best Thai food in the area. Pad See Ewe, Panang Curry, Pad Thai are always sooooo good. BYOB It never disappoints. I'll keep coming every chance I get!

  • Erica B.

The absolutely best Thai food hands down. There Sukiyaki Soup is crazy good, staff is awesome. Great prices!!! Me, my husband and two little girls would have to say it is one of our favorite little restaurants!

  • David N.

Great place! BYOB in the burbs is clutch. It was inexpensive and high quality which was SO appreciated. Apparently the owner is the brother the owner of Alt Thai in Arlington Heights which is my favorite! The wait staff was super friendly and prompt. Just over all a great place! I have but one thought that I WISH they'd do over there... Dim the lights. It would absolutely make it 20% greater and a definite repeat. So if the owner is reading this, please buy a dimmer! Otherwise great place. Very satisfied. :)

  • Erika C.

Nom nom nom....absolutely DE-lish. Unbeatable lunch specials. The (spicy) chicken pad thai with egg roll and soup only $5+tx. A lot of food for the money and fresh tasting. Definitely my go to Thai place in the suburbs!

  • Dan R.

Ok, time to try another Thai place. I browsed some Yelp and found this place is near, so I decided to bite. My initial impression was weak, as their website did not work. I called and asked for an emailed menu, they said they could fax one. I waited for 10 min, called back, and they said it didn't work. Fine, I'll blindly order a lunch special pad thai and some crab rangoons, for pickup. Holy hell was I surprised, everything was absolutely delicious. The pad thai came with an egg roll. I put some of their hot sauce on it because I forgot to order it spicy, it did the trick. You could really taste the crab in the rangoons, they were adequately stuffed and textured perfectly. Second best rangoons I've had next to Thai Pavilion in Dekalb. The included chicken soup was very good, and I'm not a big soup fan. I will definitely order again this week! If you love good quick thai food, do yourself a favor and check out Cida.

  • Patty L.

I do love my Thai food! I only stick to Pad Thai though bc allot of Thai places Americanize the dishes & everyone thinks it's amazing! If people only knew the true taste! I know because this is what I grew up on. Cida is good though. Only giving it 3 stars bc dishes are Americanized & service is at times slow.

  • Chris S.

I went in for the lunch specials recently since I heard so many good things about Cida Thai. I must admit, everything I ordered was tasty and there was nothing wrong with it at all, but nothing about the place truly impresses. I ordered the beef pad thai lunch with a vege egg roll and chicken and rice soup, all of which were fine, however a bit small. I ended up ordering a portion of crab rangoon to go, which was the best thing I tried, but again, for the price in particular for the rangoon, the portion was a bit undersized. The decor inside is pretty run of the mill in terms of a local Thai restaurant, but they have little vases or glasses of M&M's/DumDums on the table, which are sort of cute/sort of tacky depending on where your sentiment lies. The service was friendly and lightning quick, although I was the only person there at 11:15am. Overall, pretty good. Just wished for a bit more in terms of the portions.

I have been coming here with my parents for the past 4 years now. I am in love with the Cida Curry Chicken. It is spicy with chicken potato and cauliflower(Likes a soup).... so GOOD! Also if you come here you have to try the crab rangoo. I swear to god it is so good!!! This is a smaller restaurant and is so cute! :) You also can bring your own alcohol and win or beer glasses are provided. If you like Thai food... COME HERE!!!! Our family loves you!!!

All these people giving this place 5 stars have obviously never had good Thai food. We did carry out - picked it up on a Friday night. The place itself was super cute, great for a date night. We ordered Pad See Eiw, spring rolls, and another pad dish with tomatoes and basil. The food was so bland and barely had any flavor. So disappointing. Those dishes should be the most basic and they were just blah. Not going back.

Tried to get delivery to a place two miles away. They wouldnt do it because they wouldnt bother to look up the address. They would deliver to LaGrange, which is actually farther. Nice service. Too many other Thai places that can figure out google maps.

My husband and I were in search of something to fill our tummy. We had passed this place a few weeks back and after finding that most of the yelp reviews were positive, we stopped in. Like most people say, it doesn't look like much from the outside but as soon as you walk in - it's inviting. We came on Halloween and it was decorated so cute. The tablecloths were all this cool Halloween pattern and I was impressed. Our server was ok - not too friendly. She completely forgot our drinks and when my husband asked about them later, she looked at him like she had no idea what he was talking about. There were only like 3 tables seated. So that was kind of odd. The other girl working there was a lot more friendly. The food came out quickly and it was really delicious. I had the evil jungle dish, which was a vegetarian mixture and tofu with a lite coconut sauce. It was really good, except for the addition of eggplant. Yuck. My husband went with his usual red curry. It was very spicy and had a great flavor. Can't beat great food for under $20 for the both of us!

Green curry tofu sucked. how can u mess up tofu - it is premade? Calli chicken curry was bland, it was a special that day. Crab Rangoon is just ok Slow service. they walk around like they are on holiday. too bad there isnt another thai place around.

Really good thai food in the suburbs. Green curry is fantastic. Too much cream cheese in crab Rangoon. Take out wait is long. Limited parking in front.

Celebrated a friends birthday dinner here over this past weekend, there was a total of 10 in our party. Food was very fresh and very tasty. The service was great even with our larger group. I had the Beef Pad Thai and a taste of the Beef Pad Kee Mow...both were delicious ! If your in the area and need a thai fix this place will do it. Prices are decent! I should also mention that its a "BYOB" and there is a liquor store RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!!!!!

  • Donald C.

Good but not great....Thai food for white people. Next time I go, I will know to order the food with AT LEAST the "medium" spice level. Without specification, the food is bland and spiceless... We had four apps...and I would recommend the Shumai. The satay was a bit rubbery. Spring rolls were good. Cida Curry Chicken was the mildest curry I have ever tasted....definitely heat it up if you order it. The pad Thai (both tofu and chicken) were good. The teriyaki chicken was ok. I will try this place again...but next time will get additional spice to make the experience a bit more authentic.

  • Eric Y.

Everything in the place is small. The room is small. The portions are small. The attention to service is small. Even the waitstaff are small. The fried tofu appetizer was ... small. Small (tiny) pieces of fried tofu, with a small bowl of sweet chili sauce, on a small plate. What's up with that? Trying to make small things look bigger by putting them on a small plate? C'mon, small is small. Crispy noodles with shrimp and tofu was also just a small serving - nothing to it. Two shrimp in the whole dish - maybe it was two shrimp halves! Shrimp is another word for small, right? Eggplant with basil and beef was also ... surprise! ... small. To quote a small old lady from years ago, "where's the beef?" For that matter, where's the eggplant? Roast duck curry was flavorful but again, small! At least the check was also ... small. Small consolation for a waste of 90 minutes!

First time at this restaurant with a friend. The inside of the restaurant is charming and the staff is really nice. My food was so fresh and had great flavor. I will definitely be back again.

  • Jeannie A.

One word to describe the food.....bland. There was no flavor at all in the Pad See Ew, at all. The one good thing is there were lots of vegetables and chicken, just no flavor. Also had the Crab Rangoon....where was the crab? It was herbed cream cheese, no flavor. I got takeout from here for the first time, and the portion was very small. I will give it another try, eat in and take advantage of the BYOB.

This is our goto place that the kids enjoy and my wife and I really like. It is BYOB so you can go a couple doors down to Mainstreet and grab whatever. I just wish the portions would be bigger!

  • Chel M.

I am in LOVE with this place!! Honestly the best Thai food in the area, hands down. Everything I've had there is delicious and I love that it's BYOB. A major plus for all the vegans/vegetarians out there is that they will make accommodations for your dietary restrictions... Which means I can eat all the red curry I want there. It is heavenly, by the way.

Have you ever had broccoli tempura-style? Me either!!!!!! Well until this place that is. So so so so good! I've had a few entrees here, and to be honest I'm not sure which has been my favorite, but none of them have disappointed. --------------------------------------------------------------- I started writing this review back in like, what, 2009? And I don't think I've been since. HOWEVER, I do have to finish this review to mention that I still think of it and would highly recommend it to anyone. Even hookers.

Cida Thai... what can I say, I was quite surprised to enjoy my meal and as well as my family. I haven't found too many good Thai restaurants in the SW Suburbs with good food and decent pricing. The crab rangoon is far the best I've had anywhere here. The fresh spring rolls are so yummy. I want to give this place a fair 3.5 stars, but I'll push it to 4 as its better than a 3 IMO. The noodles or rice dishes are better here than the curries. I've had much better curry elsewhere, but again for the cost, it suffices. I think I love this place more because of those darn yummy crab rangoon's! Oh, in addition, this place is very clean and has a very cutesy style to it. Cheerful, but not distracting. The outside doesn't resemble anything of the inside.

On my very first week moving from the UK to Chicago land area, I had the unfortunate experience of dinning at Cida thai restaurant, since there is a tremendous thai community in Europe and I am very familiar with its cuisine and cultures I decided to give Cida thai a shot. 1)The waitress could barely communicate with I and a group of new friends I suggested to try this place out since its 1 mile away from my place of work. 2) appetizers terrible, over cooked chicken satay. 3) Main courses:All my friends were disappointed with their portions and time We had to wait for our meals. I ordered a green curry. I don't remember the exact price of it, but the portion was small, the sea food rare, and when the bill came, I was over charged in 20$, when I asked what was that, the waitress responded that I was being charged for every extra item putted in my dish, which obviously wasn't on the menu and I did not ordered. I replied that I wanted to pay for the green curry I ordered, she started screaming at me that I had to pay, soon she was joined by the restaurant's manager which started screaming as well. They called the restaurant owner who's apparently is a kick boxer from Thailand, who was coming to muscle me. Finally he came over while I was "detained" by his staff,on the restaurant . I tried to explain to him that I was being over charged and instead of helping me out, he said wait right here, BELIEVE ME OR NOT He called the cops of Countryside's police department. 2 officers came over and a big commotion was formed in the restaurant, the lady was crying saying I was trying to run away without paying my bill, which clearly wasn't the case. At the end the cops said you can come with them to the police department and We will sort all out there or you can pay the bill and filled a complain against them with the consumer rights. I paid because I did not had time for all of that, but I will never come back to this place. HORRIBLE FOOD, TERRIBLE SERVICE. On the following Monday after this tragic incident over the weekend I mention that at my working place, and some of them promptly said, "don't go to that place,if they catch that you're from another town they ALWAYS over charge you" Don't ever go to CIDA thai unless you want to get robbed!

This is my favorite Thai place !!! I love the grilled chicken with lime sauce.. Its so simple, nutritious, and delicious... They have great prices, the only bad thing is they are closed on mondays and I crave it on mondays.. lol... Ohh yeah the best part its BYOB - Bring your own beer or alcohol!!

This place has become my go-to Thai place in the 'burbs. First off, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the staff are always friendly. There's plenty of seats and you'll never have a wait. The joint is BYO, so my wife and I always bring a four-pack of Goose Belgians or the like, and they'll bring you glassware and take the bottles and caps for you. Also, your water glass is never empty. The food is great. I saw another review about bland food, and I'm not sure if he got a bad batch or something, but our food has always been seasoned great and along the lines of the spice level you ask for. The duck curry was great, and quite spicy. Also, although Pad Thai is overdone everywhere, this place's is quite nice, and I wouldn't hesitate getting it again. The crab rangoon and potstickers are other standard fare that are also fresh and tasty. My personal favorite, however, is the Pad Kee Mao (Drunkard's Noodles). As a sidenote, when the owner is cooking the food is even better, but it's always good. This place is nothing fancy, but we come back to it again and again because the service and food are always exactly what you want in a place like this.

My husband and I just had dinner here. This place is great for so many different reasons. First, it's byo and there's no corking fee. Who can complain about that? Second, it's at a great location - right near the corner of 55th and LaGrange Rd. Third, it is incredibly reasonable. Crab rangoon appetizer (6 HUGE and delicious pieces), 2 entrées, and 20% tip totaled 30 dollars. Yes, that's right. 30 dollars. And finally, the food, service, and ambiance were all spectacular. From the outside, it really doesn't look like much. The restaurant is really very simple - paper napkins and tablecloths, but it's so warm and inviting. Lots of bright colors and creative decor. You feel at home and relaxed! All the workers were very friendly. All smiles and thank you's. They seem almost like a family! The food is the real highlight. Very traditional and authentic Thai food with just the right heat and spice. Also, a very big menu so you have plenty of options! Please check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

Very nice experience dining here. Food was good, atmosphere casual, bright & friendly. Reasonably priced & it's easy to bring your own bottle of wine in with Armenetti's right next door. Cute touches on the table like water glasses with their logo on them, and little vases full of m&ms and a candy pop.

I love going here for their lunch specials. You get soup, a thai egg roll and an entree for cheap. The soup is just a clear soup with a small amount of veggies but it is always so flavorful. My other favorites: Thai iced tea is horrible for me, they use half and half.... but it is delicious Thai egg rolls - so thin and crispy on the outside with fresh vegetables on the inside Beef pad si-ew - I love the large flat stir fried noodles Tofu pad thai - well made, not too sweet, good lime It is a small place but it is bright and refreshing inside. They make a big effort to decorate and make the place feel welcoming.

Mediocre food, pretty bad service. For all the Thai options in the area, this is one is nothing to write home about. I'll stick to Mama Thai in Oak park or Fine Thai in Brookfield.

For the burbs this is probably the best Thai you're going to find in the area. I've been going to Cida Thai since it opened a few years back and have always had good dining experiences. The food is good, reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Sure, I've had better Thai food elsewhere, but I've never walked away from Cida dissatisfied. I am also a fan of the BYOB status of this place, and the fact that it is right next to a liquor store with a good beer and wine selection. My pick on dishes are the Stir fried asparagus (I get mine spicy with shrimp), Cida's house curry, the curry fried rice, and the shrimp with glass noodles.

My co-worker suggested Thai for lunch and had the best one in mind. Cute little place found in a boring strip mall. Once you walk inside you're transported to a lively and colorful dining atmosphere. Bridgette R. suggested this spot for a number of reasons; cute and attentive service, spicy the way she likes it, polite and quaint dining. BYOB. Best detail of them all, lunch pricing starting at $5.99 which comes with your choice of entrée, spring roll and a cup of vegetable soup. Bangin' special especially when you've enjoyed your meal quite as intensely as we enjoyed ours. I saw that Crab Rangoon's were offered on the appetizer menu and at $4.99 an order, I had to check them out. Nicely fried with a spoonful of filling, the cream cheese is subtly bland not sweet with a light coat of some kind of black pepper. Goes perfect with the provided sweet and sour sauce or with chili hot sauce. I loved how every detail had its container, holder, sauce tray, etc. That the room had a few accents of décor showing that the restaurant realizes that Easter is upcoming. Two people, two lunch specials, green tea and an appetizer the total was less than $19 dollars before tip. The lunch portion was just the right size to satisfy and the food had a clean feeling and taste to it. No MSG used in any of their dishes. It's easy to see why they are a solid four star restaurant. If it's your first time I suggest checking out their website, it's complete with real pricing and a short video of their chef and entrees.

Decent service. On the night we visited, a Saturday, it was busy. The coconut soup was delicious. The noodles had just the right consistency. The ring rolls were served with a light colored plum sauce instead of the usual peanut sauce I am used to. I found the change refreshing. The place was still set up for valentines day, which seemed odd, yet kind of quaint.

This is by far one of my favorite Thai restaurants ever. I've been coming here ever since high school. I like that it's family owned. I feel that's one of the reasons the staff is always so friendly. I've never had a dish here that I disliked. Like most Thai places, it's very vegetarian friendly. Some of my favorites are the Pad Woonsen, Crab Rangoon, Vegetable Tempura, Spring Rolls, Pad Thai (probably the best Pad Thai I've ever had), Sweet and Sour Tofu, Thai Fried Rice, Green Curry... just to name a few. Anything you try will be good. Another plus is they are BYOB, so they aren't going to overcharge you when order drinks, like most restaurants. There is NO cork fee, which is nice. Right down the street is Mainstreet Liquors, which has a great selection of wine and beer reasonably priced (although most things you could get cheaper at Costco or on sale at Jewel). Still, it's nice if you forgot to bring something with to Cida.

Awesome prices and BYOB. Sweet servers who do try. Kinda bright and busy but what they lack in ambiance they make up for with affordablility. Food was not super warm or as spicy as requested but when I asked server for hot sauce she totally solved problem by whipping plate away and serving it seconds later much better!! I am guessing they threw it back in the wok and doctered it up much to my happiness. Mmmm. Banana dumplings and Tom Yum Hot and Sour soup are gooooood.... Busy on the weekends, very popular place.

I'm much more of a Thai connoisseur now than the first time I tried Cida Thai. After a recent trip there a couple of weeks ago, I'm happy to say that they still are a decently priced and solid source of Thai food in the western suburbs. Other reviewers have questioned the high rating of this restaurant, and I would have to say that I do take other factors into mind when I am reviewing a restaurant. For example, if I am going to an expensive, trendy place that has gotten rave reviews, I have a certain level of expectations that I am judging that restaurant on. So here's the thing with Cida Thai - it's difficult to find a BYOB at all in the burbs. And generally Thai places in the burbs fall into one of two categories: hole in the wall mom and pop places that have good food, or overpriced upscale Americanized versions of Thai. But Cida Thai is a clean, cutely decorated, inexpensive Thai restaurant that has decent food. And it's right next door to a liquor store with a fantastic wine selection! Definitely a great find for this neck of the woods!

A cute Thai place (something I have had a hard time finding in Chicago's western suburbs) Everything is modertly priced and it's BYOB, which is pretty awesome by itself. Situated in a strip mall on La Grange Road, you wouldn't expect much of this place from the outside. But, once you enter, it's small but cute and well employed. But, I have to say, the food was only okay. I wasn't toally impressed. We had the Crab Rangoon which was tasty but had too much air in the fried shell. We also ordered the Thai Spring Rolls as an appetizer, which were very good. For a meal, we were generic and split the Chicken Pad Thai, which really was only so-so. It had a very lemony orange citrus taste to it that I didn't care for. Maybe some people go for that. However, it was better than other Thai that I have had in the La Grange - Westmont area - hence the three stars. Next time, I'll try one of their specialties, their egg rolls were good, which is a good sign. They have a large menu by the way!

Great atmosphere, Beautiful waitresses, and delicious food! Lots of vegetarian options available! Average meal about $10 or less, and delicious! The Orange & Pineapple (pina colada) smoothies are also delicious!

I'm not sure whats up with the fivers being handed out here. Nevertheless, its an OK Thai place. That said, their curries are decidedly unimpressive. In fact they reminded me a lot of my dad's first attempts to make curry. My mom and I used to make fun of him (in a good way, usually...) when he would try to copy the subtlety of a good Thai curry. It would end up a rather generic brown mess, not in the way that could make you sick - but just one that didn't make you wish for a second serving. Cida Thai does curries kinda like that. However, their noodles are pretty good. The Pad Thai and Kee Mao are solid, and I go in for lunches for those. The stir fries fall back into average though. Shrug. BUT! there's a 99 cent surprise on the menu. Ask for a banana dumpling for desert, its really a treat. Its a steamed sticky rice, bean and banana cake. I know sounds weird... but for a buck it really can't be beat!

I was dragged back here with a friend who had heard good things. I warned her, but we went anyway. Our food was mediocre at best. Even my friend was disappointed. We were seated near the counter and the staff were speaking so loudly and laughing that we could barely have a conversation. I'm actually glad I gave this place another chance, it really must be this terrible all the time!

I agree with one of the other reviews. small place and small portions.... I ordered a chicken dish and I found 3 small small pieces of chicken..... WHERE'S THE MEAT??? I Inquired with the waitress and she said that is what the chef puts in the dish. The portion was also small.... for $8.00 I could have gone to Cocula's across the street and have a hugh plate with take home to boot. Here at Cida,,, there is not enough for a doggy bag... My sister told me there is another Thai Restaurant on 95th and Kedzie that is 100% better. I will visit them next time. I will not come back to Cida.... My first time back after a couple years - They did not impress me a bit. will not come back.

I ordered take out from Cida Thai the very first time I tried it. A few weeks ago on a Thursday I was in the area and remembered I had read some reviews on Yelp about Cida Thai and decided to give it a try. I am a huge fan of Thai food, and have a few different favorite dishes. I found Cida Thai to just be ok. For me it wasn't anything to write home about. I ordered the Tom Yum soup as well as the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). The soup had way too much lime leave and lemon grass in the broth. I prefer when some of that stuff is taken out of the broth before serving so I'm not picking out things as I'm trying to eat it. The flavor was typical Tom Yum soup though, so no complaints about the taste. The Drunken Noodles were honestly a bit disappointing. The portion was not that big. Maybe its just because I'm so accustomed to large portions Asian restaurants give you, but for almost $10 I expected more there. They flavored the dish with too much Fish Sauce because honestly that was the main flavor of the dish, instead of the wonderful flavor of dark soy, chiles and basil that you usually taste. Speaking of Chiles, if you want your dish spicy , you should probably reiterate that point a few times, because I ordered mine "Spicy" and it came out sort of medium. The inside of the restaurant I do have to say, was very cute, and it was pretty crowded as well. Overall...just a so so experience for me.

Yummy, yummy, yummy. They do great dishes, they have good sized portions, and 4 of us got out of there for less than $40 with tip. This is mainly because it is BYOB. Lots of people were coming in to pick up their carry out orders. The curry is tasty (yellow and green are spicier than the panang and shamanic). Mrs Cup had the sweet and sour chicken and it was very good. Although we were here for dinner, they have good lunch specials too. This place is a winner!

This is a regular stop for us. We love it. The food is wonderful, the staff is friendly, the decor is uplifting and the owner could not be more gracious. I have an addiction to Pad se ewe and try it everywhere. They rate in the top 2% of Chicago area restaurants. They are also right on when you ask for spicy or medium spicy. At so many other spots I don't think they even read those words. Many times when we eat in we see friends and neighbors picking up take out.

I love love love this place!!! The staff is very friendly and they make you feel like you are welcome. I have been going to this place for about 4 years. I moved to Lisle, IL and I travel at least once every 2 weeks just for the DELICIOUS food! Try it you will LOVE IT!!!

We love this place and when I say "we" I mean me, my husband, my parents, his parents, their friends, our friends. Basically I don't know anyone who doesn't love it. Even my dad who is so picky never passes up an opportunity for a visit to Cida Thai. I can't say enough about the servers, they are so attentive, nice and accomodating. It doesn't hurt that the inside is always so pretty and that they really go the extra mile to make it cozy. Go tonight!

MmmmMmmmMmmm... While doing some kitchen renovations, we decided to order out from Cida Thai, which we'd been meaning to try for ages. What the heck were we holding out for??? First off - Even though we were just there to pick up a menu and then came back to pick up the order, we couldn't have loved the counter staff any more. They were very nice and helpful. Second - The food was TASTY! I am not a fan of leftover chicken, in general, but the next day I munched on some leftover chicken satay, and holy smokes, tasty still! Good fresh ingredients, great in leftover form, good all around. Third - The price was definitely right - not a take out meal where you feel you have to justify getting it instead of making dinner. So, if you're in the area and looking for something new to try instead of spending another pathetisad evening waiting for Crapplebee's Carside to Go, head on over to Cida Thai for a bite to eat! I don't think they do curbside, but it's a small place to run into for chow. Enjoy!

I went on an office run so we ordered three very different meals and all were blah. Also, I ordered something they told me it was $9.99 and when I went to pick it up they changed it to $13.99. Tired and on a time limit, I didn't feel like arguing with the girl I was already having communication problems with on a polite level. The food was very meh, it's not worth what you pay for it. Their spring rolls looked like spongy squishy mini soft tacos. Also, the chicken teriyaki I got was bland and a bit dry. I do not recommend this place, take the extra time to go to Mai Thai in Westmont.

This has become a weekly stop after work. Even on a week night, the place is quite busy. Not very expensive, but well put together food, this is a better experience than the other Thai places right in downtown Lagrange. Our favorite dish right now is the Shrimp with Glass Noodles - with a tasty ginger sauce in a covered ceramic bowl. And the Sticky Rice is good, too!

  • Jean S.

Small, clean, owner always present and the food is special. The portions are smaller (but proportionately lower priced) than many other places. But how elegant not to be given a serving dish of food like an American pig. I especially like the Larb Kai and ask for it HOT - not for the faint of heart. Go there and enjoy the attention to detail. It's charming.

I've been going to this place for several years and I'm amazed every time I go. The curries are first class and they have several great vegetarian dishes. The fact that it is BYOB and there is a liquor store next door doesn't hurt either. Expect a crowd on Saturday night. For your dining dollar, you can't beat the place.

Great restaurant - one of our favorites! Excellent Pad Thai chicken, Basil Chicken, Panang Curry, Pad Woon Sen with Tof. BYOB, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, cute decorations, reasonable prices and high quality. If you like spice - ask for it - food is not typically bland. Try it - you will not be disappointed!

We just found glass in our food and my husband swallowed some. Nice huh? And the restaurant does not want to accept responsibility. Eat at home and safe yourself the hassle. I had to give it 1 star but it deserves negative stars.

I can't count the many times I've been here. I was there tonight in fact and had the tofu pad woonson, my favorite entree there. Luckily I have about half my dinner for left overs tomorrow- can't wait. It's that kinda restaurant. It's such an unassuming place from the outside but it was PACKED tonight and while we had to wait for a table, we didn't have to wait very long. They pack in a lot of tables into a relatively small dining room but it's not cramped, it just feels cozy. One of the best things about Cida Thai is that it's BYOB and there's no corkage fee. There's actually a wine shop next door in case you forget. The staff is super friendly as well.

In an area where you least expect it, there's a great thai restaurant nestled in a tiny strip mall next to a coin laundromat. Cida is surprisingly delightful. I've been here on two separate occassions and was impressed with the attentiveness of the waitstaff, their willingness to accommodate my party's nuances (specifically with sauce on the side), and the presentation and quality of food. The curries are excellent and flavorful. I very much enjoyed the tenderness of the beef and rice noodles in the pad si ew balanced with the crispness of the broccoli, carrots and other vegetables in the dish. There is also a great hot, sweet and sour crispy red snapper fish filet dish stir fried with onions, bell peppers and garlic. They also offer great frozen fruit beverages like a pineapple freeze that even pleases to timid. The homemade ice cream desserts are not to miss as well: green tea ice cream and the halo-halo ice cream.
