This bar had a reputation of being racist. I never believed it until I experienced it on MORE than 1 occasion. They may not be totally against Black People, but they most definitely racially profile their guests. Blacks are charged cover charges, whites are not. Blacks are declined entry for "dress code", including women. Again, I speak from experience. My friend, who happens to be white, entered Drifters 2 min before me and was not asked to pay. The moment i walked up i was told i had to pay $10 to get in. I used to be PRO Drifters, but now I will NEVER recommend this place...well maybe to my white friends.. NOT!!

I was never one for really visiting the Downtown Bloomington bars when I went to ISU, but I was invited down for a bar crawl recently, and this was one of the stops. I remember coming here before (vaguely) when it was Lounge Lizard but not enough to make a comparison, haha. The weekly specials as of the weekend of March 24th were pretty good, including $2 glasses of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and $3 on some mixed drinks. The on-tap selection is decent, but I'm really not sure how much of a "pub" it is, since when we walked in the floor was cleared without tavles and there was a DJ off in the back corner (with an apparently open-for-everyone drum kit to ply along). It seems to me like it's much more of a bar or a club after hours. and to be completely honest, once the typical bar hoppers came in andt he place filled up more, it was crowded but not overly so, but that sort of environment isn't my thing. That said, I think if I were to ever come in here with a few people and jut get some drinks and maybe leave before it gets jammed, it wouldn't be bad at all.

I really can't believe I'm writing a review for Drifter's, but I am because I live in Bloomington and regretfully have to spend a couple hours downtown once every few weeks. Anyways, I don't completely hate Drifter's. I know that sounds overly negative, but given how much every other downtown bar absolutely sucks, this is a compliment. Drifter's offers your typical college-kid drinks. Shots, well drinks, draft beers. They have pretty reasonable specials most nights. None of the drinks are good, per se, but when you pay $3 in a college town, that's what you get. The main reason I don't hate Drifter's is because they have something that all the other downtown bars lack: SPACE. Look, all these bars are going to be full of douchebags. Drunk girls, drunk bros, people looking to fight, people looking to go home with a stranger... It's your typical college bar full of kids walking the path of total obliteration. The saving grace is that Drifter's has enough room to allow you to not have to rub shoulders with these miscreants. The DJ isn't very good, but the dance floor is literally half of the bar, which is much bigger than any other place except Daddio's. But Daddio's is a joke, so screw that. Even on the dance floor at Drifter's, you find yourself having plenty of room.

The bar is ok but we used to like to get pizza from next door when it was D'Agostinos Pizza. I guess they closed and is now called slice? Well the bar tender didn't say a word about the pizza place changing hands and we didn't open the box before we left, big mistake! When we got home (30 minute trip) we discover a poor attempt at pizza and it tastes horrible! The crust was not fully cooked, the topping were poor had no sauce and cheese stayed yellow, even after reheating in the oven not sure it was real cheese! I'd rather starve than eat this pizza! A pizza from our local Casey's would have been 10x better!

The past 3 times I've visited Drifters, they have triple charged my credit card because the bartenders don't understand how to handle tabs. Never really had a favorite night there. Prefer fat jacks.

There are some excellent prices, but visiting the bar isn't worth it. There is no seating, only a plain wide open dance floor that no one wants to be in.

If you love balls on balls contact from the door to the bar then you will love drifters!

Oh, god. Maybe it was the one time we went, but we hated it here. Awful, empty, loud ambiance (so how could it possibly get better as it fills up?), drunk loud girls sitting next to us who then went and climbed into a car (eek!), watered down stale beer, and just all the wrong lighting for me. Almost nowhere to sit. Seemed to be a land of dudes and screeching girls. Not my kind of place.

Drifters is located next to Flinger's Pizza in Downtown Bloomington - the same location as the old Paulie's and Lizard's Lounge. I think that this place may last longer than the previous two but time will tell. I have always had great service whenever I have been here. They have a nice weekly set up (see below). They have a nice arrangement with Flinger's so you can order pizza to Drifter's and eat it there if you don't want to leave. They have a good juke box and a few games (see pictures). The bartender claims to have 90 different bottled beers and there are probably 20 beers on tap. It's a wide open bar, so a great place if you are headed somewhere with a group. The place is recently renovated and looks nice. Check it out next time you're Downtown. Monday - All daily specials Tuesday - $2.50 Corona pints, $3 Bacardi mixed drinks Wednesday - Live Music! $2 Bud family pints, $2.50 well drinks Thursday - Piano Man live! $3.50 Drifter's Drink, $ Miller lt. pints, $3 Vegas & Miami bombs Friday - Live DJs & entertainment, $2.50 Bud pints, $3 UV & Cuervo

Even though they state it is a "pub", it has more of the atmosphere of a bar. This is an excellent place to socialize, with the general area standing room with some tables along the walls. The bartenders are friendly and attentive, and the drinks are standard price for the area. I ordered one of their specials and got standard bar brand base. I knew this place when it was the Lizard Lounge and more recently Paulie's. Though not very welcoming, they had their crowd, and drew many people and entertainment. As much as they brought in, it wasn't enough, and they had to move. The drinks were the same quality, and the basement was open to accommodate the crowds, with separate entertainment. It was a quieter section of bar. Drifters has the basement closed off for private parties and special occasions. Despite the quality of mixed drinks, they do have a decent variety of beers on tap. The atmosphere is welcoming and open and a fun place to go with a group.

More of a bar than a Pub, great place if you love beer. A huge selection of bottles and on tap. Nice deal with Flingers Pizza (next door) call & order & they will deliver it to your table. Plenty of room, nice juke box (DJ on Thursdays & live music on week-ends). Clean rest rooms (at least the ladies room is clean).
