This has always been our go-to spot for delivery in Elgin. That is, until this weekend. We had just sit down to family dinner at home with our delivery from Silverlake, enjoying our eggrolls and sharing them with our kids (ages 4 and 2). That is, until my husband instructed us all to stop eating and spit out our food. He then proceeded to pull a band aid out of his mouth! It had been in his eggroll! The same eggroll he was sharing with our children! He took a photo of the disgusting bandaid in his food and then called the restaurant manager. They offered a refund. Not sure that's enough. We have contacted the county health dept and city health dept. And why wasn't the bleeding eggroll cook wearing gloves? Clearly, Silverlake is completely careless when it comes to sanitary food prep and they have no standards, it would seem, to ensure quality. Concerned for the health of our family. Hoping the cooking process was enough to kill any bacteria/diseases. Have call in to doctor. They've, obviously, lost us as customers and completely ruined our appetite for anything other than homemade food. Yuck!

This has become our Chinese place sine we moved to bartlett last year. It does the job for a decent price. Our order is always correct and they do a good job at making things spicy. I'd take other suggestions to try area Chinese places!

I really enjoy this restaurant good quality meats and very nice place for lunch. I tend to stay away from gravy and less heathy options. Beautiful shrimp, chicken, kids love teriyaki sticks. Restaurant will tailor what they make to your taste if you ask.

Pros: courteous phone staff courteous delivery computerized delivery system where they get orders correct Cons: food prep quality The chicken fried rice had squares of chicken deli meat. It would be better if they placed real chicken in their rice. All of their rices have too much soybean, too much soy sauce and the rice is not always properly cooked. Overcooked fried items such as the sweet and sour chicken was hard and over cooked and the empress chicken was as well. Beef in the chop suey very tough. Had chicken wings saw little wing hairs fried on the wings made me feel as if the meat was not well cleaned before cooking. Perhaps thrown from the package frozen into the oil. Recommendation: Order during the week and try ther lunch specials, which they also deliver. This will give you an idea of the food at a more cost effective price. My Decision: Was a customer since 2001. Kept trying different things modifying orders and giving instruction on how I wanted my meal prepared. You can't just call and place an order, if you want something made a certain way you will have to tell them or it will come out wrong. I was spoiled by eating great chinese food in Chicago where you could walk in and order and it would be made right. Honestly Bartlett all over has terrible Chinese food. You have to know what good chinese food taste like in order to leave an adequate review. I have eaten at TL's Four Seasons ( 4 blocks from me downtown Bartlett) and their food is terrible. You can see my review on that under my profile. I am still seeking that diamond in the rough in Bartlett would appreciate any suggestions.

Eaten here many times. Never super great, but close to home and priced OK. On Monday we found a small bolt ... Inch long, maybe 3/8" thread..... in the fried rice. Manager made good by refunding full dinner cost (about $27) after hostess initially offered to just make another order (!). I suppose that's reasonable service given that no one was hurt. But it's far from a good thing and we'll be putting this place on the bench for a year or so.

Just ordered take out from this place. Very disappointed!! I dont even know if this place deserves 1 star! We ordered sweet and sour chicken, mongolian beef and pork fried rice. The sweet and sour chicken definitely seems like it was fried more than one time; not fresh tasting or looking at all. Mongolian beef is 90% onion and MAYBE 10% beef....are you kidding me??? paying almost 10 dollars for an onion?!?!? Every other chinese restaurant I've ever been to has at least given you beef in Mongolian BEEF! And the pork fried rice isnt anything great either. Very disappointed. When we called the restaurant to complain he said that "its supposed to be like that." Waste of $30 dollars coming to this place. My relaxing chinese/movie night is now quite disappointing :( Definitely go to Asian Wok in Bartlett instead...much better food and GREAT customer service.

I've been to this Chinese Restaurant twice now; the first time coming, I remembered I didn't particularly enjoy what my wife and I ordered. So much so that we did not take home our leftovers, which was half of our meal. Both coming from Third World Countries, we both appreciate the value of food and have been taught at a young age that food was a blessing from God and is a sin to waste. So given that background, it is very rare for us to throw away food. Several years later, I ended up coming here with a friend as my other Favorite Chinese Restaurant "TL's four Season" had over an hour wait for a table. We were both in the mood for Chinese food and since this restaurant was right around the corner, we decided to check it out once more. The atmosphere is pleasant enough, but not enough to compensate for their greasy, bland food. We both ordered egg rolls for appetizers, and I had ordered the Egg Foo Young while my friend ordered the sweet and sour chicken. The eggrolls were very greasy, so much so that the grease dripped out of the egg rolls when you bit into them. I could not get enough dips into the sweet and sour sauce to cover the taste of the eggrolls....it was that bad. The egg Foo Young was edible enough, but after I got home, I could not get that feeling of heavy grease from my stomach. I don't usually have these types of issues eating from other Chinese style restaurants, but there's something about the food at this restaurant that does not agree with me. If you have a craving for Chinese food and you live in the area, I suggest you avoid this place and drive down a mile to "TL's Four Seasons" in Bartlett.

This place was just okay. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, and it was just pretty bland. Would not go here again. It was overall pretty lackluster.

Ordered take out on Saturday night-gave a credit card number over the phone for the order-after she totaled it I then forgot that we wanted the chow mein noodles-I asked if she could add that on and I apoligized that I forgot. She had an attitude and told me she already closed the order and if I wanted them I would have to pay that delivery guy in cash-WHAT? She could have easliy added that onto our bill-she had horrible phone skills and just a bad attitude-oh and the food was just OK-nothing special-it used to be the best-something gone wrong.........

Silver Lake offers guilty-pleasure Americanized Chinese food. (You know the type: general chicken, Mongolian beef, kung-pao, etc.). The lunch special is the best deal going. Soup/eggroll/entree for a very reasonable price. The staff is always very nice and attentive. On an especially freezing winter day last year, my wife and I wandered in to Silver Lake for dinner and were told the heating wasn't working well and the seats by the window were very cold. Unfortunately, those window seats were the only seats available. They offered to bring us a charcoal grill for the table (Korean BBQ style) in order to keep us warm. We laughed and took them up on the offer. I'm not sure the charcoal did much to keep us warm, but we definitely appreciated the sentiment and the commitment to keeping their customers happy.

Warning..... Low quality food and management are thieves! Brought a check with one amount then rang me up for another. Then cocked an attitude with me when I confronted them about it. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER AND FOOD SERVICE!

I love Silver Lake ... good food and fast delivery. They always have coupons for free stuff. I've seen some bad reviews but I have to disagree. The General Tao's chicken is one of my favorites but I usually get the Mixed Vegetables. I've never eaten in the restaurant but I've picked up food there before and have always found the staff to be friendly.

For some reason my boyfriend LOVES this restaurant. To me, it's mediocre at best. I had a minced tofu dish, and he had fried rice. The rice was broken, and they put dried up scallion on my tofu.

We've visited this place three times and each time there was a major snafu. Once we ordered sizzling rice soup, and it was served roomtemp and didn't crackle when poured over the rice. This dish usually is poured hot over an oven dried rice cake so when the liquid hits it, it crackles loudly. When I asked the waiter, he said, "this a different kind of rice." What it was is cold and old... I've been eating sizzling rice soup many restaurants and have never had a disappointment like this. I gave it two stars because their General Dso's chicken is very good. But most of the entrees we tried were mediocre and the staff, way to inattentive and almost rude. We won't go back.

We've always ordered from here in the past and this place has always been fantastic with their fried rice dshes. I highly recommend their shrimp fried rice and vegetable fried rice. It's somewhat oily but it's not yhat over powering that you can't taste the rice. Th e vegetables are very crunchy and not soggy and the rice is just right. My favorite is the spicy shrimp fried rice. The shrimp is and rising is extremely moist. You can control the amount of spice that you want so don't hesitate to tell them to ease up on the spice if you need to. I usually either get delivery or pick up so they give all their orders with mustard, hot sauce and soy sauce. They also throw in fortune cookies which is quite customary. Overall, friendly staff and good food.

Ive ordered delivery and dined in, both subpar. The restaurant is in need of a deep cleaning as well as some service retraining (or training) The food just didnt taste right, all fried foods tasted like burnt oil. We brought this up to the waitress and she just smiled and said very good very good. Most likely a language barrier. Go try Golden Bowl, much better choice.

Open up your mouth hole cuz here comes silver lake! This eatery is so bad it makes you wonder if their food is made of dog. Last time I ordered from silver lake the chicken I ordered was more of a soup than chicken... I strongly recommend ordering elsewhere.

Extremely disappointed! I've been here many times over the years but tonight they really screwed up. I ordered curry chicken which is supposed to have potatoes and onions and also ordered crab rangoon to go. I got my food home and opened it up to find NO crab rangoon. I then opened my curry chicken and found that the cook had put crinkle cut French fries in place of the potatoes.....simply disgusting. I most likely will never be back. I spent $13 for nothing.ú

Hostess and server were courteous, but they didn't get our order right. Cook was stingy with ingredients where we didn't get what we were expecting. We ordered the mini platter appetizer plate, but my wife didn't like the crab Rangoon triangles because they were a little moist and chewy. My wife ordered the house special chop suey which is a combo chop suey (chicken, shrimp, and beef) and when the order came it was an all beef chop suey. When we brought this up to the server, she said she thought my wife said beef, but how does "house" sound like "beef"? Same thing happened when my order came out where I ordered a Kung pao delight which is a combo Kung pao (chicken, beef, and shrimp). When it came out it was almost all beef with one piece of shrimp and a couple pieces of chicken and I had to dig through all the beef to find them. Why were they being beef happy and stingy on the chicken and shrimp in our combination platters? The quality was good, but we were disappointed that we ordered combination platters and they were beef platters which we didn't order. We will not return due to the cook not cooking our meals to our expectations.

If you're looking for over sauce over fried rice this is the place for you.. Everything is just so darn salty I'm amazed I even made it through the meal without having a stroke. They really need to reevaluate their menu because I have tried this place numerous times for different items in each of them has failed miserably.

Good Chinese food & quite a big menu. We especially like their many House Specialties & how they offer small & large portions on many of their selections. Their pot stickers are huge and cooked perfectly - a nice crispy brown fried on the bottom, but tender and delicious. Any dishes with breaded & fried chicken pieces that have a sauce will stay nice & crispy, at least for that night (leftovers are a different story, of course). They don't put the spicy mustard out, though, so you'll have to ask for that if you so desire. You can even order take-out from them online.

Not bad!! Being partial to Yu's myself, when my friend suggested this place for delivery, I was a little weary. I wanted good Chinese, and I wasn't sure (based on the reviews) that this place would deliver. But they did!! I thought everything was flavorful, the delivery was fast, and my husband said their fried rice was the best around. And that's really all he eats many times when we order Chinese, so he's somewhat of a connoisseur. OH! But the egg rolls were NOT good. At all. Skip them! I will definitely order from Silver Lake again!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
