Diabetics at Jamba Juice:

Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.

Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:

Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

So very good and so very special. Really love the food, you can tell the owners love what they do and put that passion into their items. I like to get the little "mice" eclairs with licorice tails for my boys. Coffee with fresh whipped cream is such a treat, as are the chocolate croissant. If you want a really special unique cake this is the place to come - you have to see them - they are little works of (tasty) art!

Fabulous coffee. Wonderful cakes and pastries; pure artistry - if you have a doubt you can watch them "sculpting" their creations while you sip a cup of their wonderful coffee. Definitely recommend Ambrosia. And, you can support a 22 year-old local business vs. Panera, Starbucks, etc.

Ambrosia is the best local spot for fresh pastries and coffee. We love getting their chocolate croissants and their stuffed savory pastries. My only suggestion for improvement is that they should make a real French baguette, instead they only make sour dough baguettes which are good but they are not the real thing.

While the pastries and bakery goods are really great the prices are really expensive. But I have to say its worth it everything is really delicious and the presentation of each item is remarkable the only thing I can say negative is if you go here often you'll be buying larger clothes

This is a taste of authentic French patisserie in Barrington IL of all places! The pastries are phenomenal! The coffee is excellent -- indulge and get the fresh whipped cream on your coffee! I recommend their almond croissant and the brioche. They also have amazing cakes for a really special occasion. The prices on the cakes are definitely special occasion-ish. Limited seating inside can be a downer occasionally but in summer the outdoor seating is pleasant. Great place for breakfast on like Friday morning when you want to indulge a bit at the end of the week!

This place is evidence of the theory that you get what you pay for. While the prices are super steep, what you get in return is well worth it. Everything is SO beautiful. The attention to pastry detail makes you not want to eat it because it's a work of art. What is SO crazy is that everything tastes just as good as it looks! Try the chocolate cookies with macadamia nuts (my fave).

I love all the croissant based pastries here- sweet or savory! They are so light, flaky, and flavorful and very similar to what your find in Europe. The desserts are great, too. We love putting together boxes from here for hostess gifts. Everything is so pretty and so delicious.

My mom has always ordered pastries, birthday cakes and holiday treats from Ambrosia. They have been part of our family tradition and made holidays so special ever since I can remember. One day when I have a family of my own I hope to bring Ambrosia into my home and carry on the tradition. Even after spending a summer abroad in Florence eating my way through the city, I still find these pastries to be my favorite!

I was excited to try Ambrosia based on friends' recommendations and the fact that it is one of the few bakeries in the NW burbs that have a cafe where you can sit and enjoy your pastry and coffee. I was so disappointed. First of all, there are no prices on anything, no menu, nothing. When we asked about it, we were told that their menu changes so often that it would be "impossible" to have a menu. Really? I'm sorry but you have croissants, and filled croissants. Your price for a filed croissant is probably the same regardless of filling. Asked about what kind of coffee drinks they have, they said they can make anything. Again, that's nice, but this assumes that you are a Starbuck's regular and know what kind of drink you want to order. They don't have any specialty coffee drinks of their own? So, the pastries. We ordered a chocolate almond croissant, a cinnamon roll and a pistachio macaron. The "croissant" was tiny, barely had any chocolate in it and was almost $3. I put "croissant" in quotations because I am 99% sure it was not made with croissant dough. It seemed like brioche dough that was rolled out and shaped like a croissant. Not bad, but not really a croissant. The cinnamon roll, likewise, was made out of brioche dough, and was quite tasty, but again for almost $3, I was expecting a "wow". On to the macaron. Disgraceful. I make macarons myself and consider myself a novice, but mine are a zillion times better than the one that was $1.75 and the size of a quarter. The filling, what little there was, had zero flavor. The shell had been dipped in a glaze so it was overly sweet and missing that crunch. Overall, my feeling is that if you are going to offer something for sale that you at least have some expertise with it. Terrrible. I have been told by friends when I told them of our experience at Ambrosia, that their desserts and cakes are really amazing, and better than their pastries. One can only hope. This place probably survives on this business, and the fact that the competition in this area is not very strong, either. I'll take a pass on Ambrosia next time.

I picked up a spinach/feta/red pepper croissant, two of the truffles (only two flavors available), a little fruit tart and a custard. The croissant was a little disappointing - a bit tough, though the filing was impeccable. The truffles were very rich and smooth and a good two-bite size. The tart was OK; I like a little more creme anglaise underneath my fruit but the raspberries were perfect. I had mistaken the custard for a creme brulee; wish they had told me. Still, it was excellent - very smooth. They seem to be more geared towards people getting a lot of items instead of just a few. Baguettes available and several delicious-looking tarts and petits-fours. If you buy a box of something they fasten a small orchid blossom to it with their black and gold "20 years - Ambrosia" sticker. Very nice presentation. They also sell various other items - high-end jam, etc. $15 minimum to use a credit card. Photos of the pastry chef with Julia Child on the walls provide impressive cred. Located inside a high-end strip mall.

There are no words to describe how amazing the baked goods are at this charming little shop. They are presented so beautifully, they are sure to impress. This is a high-end bakery, so don't go ordering a cake for your party unless you plan on paying a pretty penny for it. However, if you want to meet an old friend for coffee and a treat, this is a great place to do that. It will cost you about $7 a person for a latte and a pastry. There are many bakeries that have fantastic tasting goods, but the difference between them and Ambrosia is sheer class.

Ambrosia. I love there patisseries. They are amazing. But I think everything is a little over priced. I wished there work hours were longer. They always close so early. It seems like they are never open. But still great place to at least try once. Its also great for fancy party's and occasions. But not worth getting for your sweet tooth.

Who needs Europe when we are fortunate to have Ambrosia in the northwest suburbs. This is as good as it gets. Courteous staff, beautiful and tasty breads, pastry, cakes and don't forget the coffee with fresh French whip cream! Yum!

yum. i've been trying to visit Ambrosia for a while now. i noticed it over a year ago while driving through barrington. it was late and it was already closed. i went again two weeks ago but it was closed for the holidays! finally, today was my day. i didn't know what to expect and needless to say, i was pleasantly surprised. it seems like a big space but it seems like the kitchen takes up most of it. there are about 6-ish tables inside and a handful outside. kind of a small, cozy space. once you step in you see their refrigerated display case filled with cakes and tarts and creme brulee. i was about to order the creme brulee but when i got in line i noticed their second, non-refrigerated display case. smaller, but packed with baked goods. it seemed like what all the customers were focused on. the 3 people in front of me were all talking about the croissants. they were looking for a certain flavor but they only had a salmon cream cheese croissant left. salmon + cream cheese in a croissant?! yum! i quickly changed my mind. =) but was afraid i might not get one 'cause the people ahead of me were ordering bunches of them to go! i was able to score one along with a pretzel loaf, their Ambrosia cinnamon bun thingie and a double mocha. all of it was great and fresh... especially the croissant. i'm usually not a croissant fan but this one, with the salmon/cream cheese filling was divine. the food is really, really awesome and in regards to the flavors i have no complaints. my only issues were with the baked goods display case itself. it's really small and right next to the register so it gets really crowded. it's also placed up high so you have to attempt to talk through it or keep poking your head around it. there were no signs that said what everything was so i had to ask and eavesdrop when other people were asking. the case was filled with delicious looking pastries and i seriously wanted to know what everything was but there was a line and i didn't want to hold everyone up. signs would definitely help. i would easily come here again to try everything. =)

I don't really care for sweet stuff. I find it to be ubiquitous and frankly just unappealing, especially as it is done in the United States. I popped into Ambrosia and I was frankly blown completely out of the water. This place is a true European Pastisserie, which extraordinary attention paid to every detail. I had a cinnamon swirl, or bear claw (cant remember the name frankly because I was experiencing culinary Nirvana.) My buddy had the almond croissant which he wouldn't share with me. I don't blame him, the thing looked absolutely perfect. Try this place out, it will without a doubt raise the bar on bakery for you.

I am really unhappy with the birthday cake I ordered from Ambrosia Euro American Patisserie of Barrington, IL. It is unfortunate when business owners believe that the customer is not important.. especially after advertising "25 years of Excellence." I ordered a Bday cake for my son and it was not the cake that I ordered and it wasn't ready on time and it just wasn't good. We ordered cakes from Ambrosia on two other occasions and were very pleased with how they turned out. When a business stands behind their product then they must in turn value their customers wouldn't you think? I am quite sure that if the owner had taken the time to discuss my cake order with me directly instead of having her employee put me on hold 5 times to go ask her if the kind of cake I wanted was possible, then I would not be writing this BAD review. I also would not be writing this bad review if Ambrosia Cafe would have refunded our money. Currently we have practically a whole $50 cake sitting in our refrigerator uneaten. I've had two conversations with the owner who is terribly condescending in tone and offers no retribution plus could not stop saying how sorry she was that the birthday cake I ordered was not to my liking but never offered a refund and when I asked her for one I was denied. Plain and simple, we love birthdays. We love everything that goes into birthdays. Birthday cakes are important to us. Sadly, in my very own experience, customers are not important to Ambrosia Cafe. They think they are too fantastic and infallible to refund an unhappy customer. They think it's just a matter of taste. Well I think they need to think again. Signed, Birthday Cake Customer

This is my go to establishment for any kind of birthday or special occasion presentation. Presentation is a good term because this is a different experience than just picking up a similar item at Jewel or Dominick's. The packaging is simple yet elegant and has an upscale expensive look to it. The quality is the best I have experienced in this country and rivals what is available in Europe. It might be a good idea to go late in the day. When I arrived late one day they included a nice selection of free delicacies which would not have sold otherwise. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit. My birthday is right around the corner.

If you've ever been to France and think back fondly on the amazing croissants & pain chocolate you could buy on any street... RUN DON'T WALK to Ambrosia! Buy a bunch of pastries and a latte, close your eyes, and imagine you are in Paris again. Yes they're that good.

I ordered two cakes from here and they were both amazing. The artistry is breathtaking and they also taste delicious. Highly recommended if you want to get a cake for a special occasion! The price is not cheap but it is completely worth it.

Amazing, pretty much all the pastries here are consistently well thought out and delicious. At first it may seem a little expensive but once you've tasted their offerings you'll realize that the prices are extremely good for the quality you're getting. Don't miss the creme brulee or almond croissant. The coffee also uses fresh cream and has a nice strong aroma to it.

I love coming here on Sunday mornings. Dog friendly, great coffee, excellent ham & cheese croissants, and yummy desserts. The service is always wonderful and it has a very relaxed, family-orientated feel. The commute from the city is worth it to me!

The most amazingly decadent, gorgeous, and delicious cake that I have ever gawked at, dreamed about, or put into my mouth comes from here. I believe it's called the Raspberry Charlotte. My husband's boss gets it for birthdays at work and my husband brings home what's left. It's usually half a cake but I'd make him bring me the crumbs if that was all that was left. Jellyroll base (omg!), raspberry mousse, gorgeous fresh fruits on top. It's a feast for all the senses, and in my opinion, worth every penny of its high price tag. Of course it's great that someone else pays for it!

Great pastries. Ladies behind counter are super nice, they definitely seem to care. The cakes are delicious and they also told me that they do not use trans fats. Cannot verify it, but at least it seemed that they had heard that word before, and they emphatically denied using trans fats.

Ambrosia Patisserie is by far one of the best pastry shops in the suburbs. The employees bend over backwards to accommodate any requests you have. I read a review from Vessy M,, I am not sure she is talking about the same place (Ambrosia Cafe). I have been ordering from Ambrosia Patisserie for 25 years for every holiday, birthday, and family event. I have never had anything that would be considered overly sweet or sub-par. The owners are always there and inspect every item before it leaves the shop. The staff at Ambrosia is incredible and the customer service is amazing. They are the most polite girls and always have a smile on their faces even when the line is long. Both my children love visiting the shop, especially when they are decorating cakes in the window. I highly recommend Ambrosia Patisserie for anyone looking for something amazing!

SEE BELOW - it's now 2/18/12 and I've waited three weeks for a response to my email about my issue with the order and NOTHING - NO RESPONSE. They do have good pastries, but customer service such as this is UNACCEPTABLE. OK - great pastries and the like, but had an issue with an order that I need to resolve, so the stars may move depending on the outcome. Stopped there today and asked for 3 oatmeal cookies, two brownies and two medium sized pieces of a chocolate tort cake that were together side by side in the case. Ate the oatmeal cookies and they were excellent - kind of crunchy on top; soft and sweet in the middle - but not doughy by any means. Opened the box with the other items in it tonight and lo and behold, only one piece of tort, not two. Now, I was only given a credit card receipt and not an itemized bill, but the total came to $19.21 which seems a little high if there's only one piece of tort included in that. I'll likely send them an email as they are closed for something special tomorrow and closed on Monday (normally). Stay tuned to see how this goes!

Ambrosia Patisserie is the best pastry shop around. I discovered Ambrosia by accident- it's a small shop tucked away off of route 14. For the past eight years we have used Ambrosia for all of our family events and office parties. They also have live jazz on some Saturdays. If I could give them 6 stars I would. The staff goes out of their way to make sure that everything is incredible. I highly recommend the cappuccinos and flavored coffee (the chocolate raspberry coffee with fresh whipped cream is to die for). As a testament to how kind the owners and staff are... On a Saturday afternoon my 4 year was throwing a world class tantrum in the shop. I was just about to pack up my screaming child and leave, when one of the women who works there brought him out Ambrosia stickers , chocolate mouse, and a sugar cookie. His tantrum stopped and I was able to finish my coffee in peace. Most places employees would just give me dirty looks and roll their eyes. Ambrosia is the best and I hope they are around for another 25 years!

Ambrosia offers a small selection of bite size pastries and croissants. The pastries are good but be prepared for a high price. I was disappointed by the quality and size of their croissants. Even by European standard, they are tiny and cost $3. The quality is not compared to a good flaky croissant. Not a wide selection of cakes by the piece....and the tarts are $35-40. Overall, I would not return because there is not enough variety, super small pieces, and high prices.

I've only had their pastries a couple of times, but those times they were incredible. However, my review is to point out their outstanding coffee. It is the best I've found anywhere in the Chicago area. The only place that compares is Intelligentsia which has a few locations in the City. Ambrosia is better though because they put their own real whipped cream in their coffee. It makes for a smooth, mellow, delicious cup of coffee that is not to be missed. Before closing, I would be remiss in not mentioning their staff. Everyone, particularly one of the owners Deborah, are very welcoming and gracious. They make you feel like you made their day by coming in. I love this place.

The best cake I have ever purchased. My MIL taught dressage in Barrington and I can't wait to shower affection on her from Ambroisia- so near the Saddlery. Bavarian cream chocolate cake was cradled home for our New Year's celebration. Moist, supple and light cake -but rich in flavor. Ganache, tongue on the roof of your mouth, breathing through your nose delicious. Savor it, we did. The salt caramel truffles on top were additional gifts that are very memorable. Coffee with gratis cream, if you desire. Staff pleasant, knew cakes in the case and happy to be there. The chef was behind the counter and delightful. His photo is on the wall with a plethora of French pastry mob members, Julia Child and Jaques Pepin. It works. It's the league his pastries are in.

In ancient Greek mythology, ambrosia is the nectar of the gods. It is believed that it was brought to Olympus by doves and that eating or drinking it would give you ageless immortality. Ambrosia, on the other hand, is an adorable little Euro American Patisserie located in a small shopping center off of NW Highway in Barrington. It was not delivered to me by carrier pigeon, but rather via Groupon (equally as impressive). And while I'm positive that these sweets would please Zeus himself, judging by the divine amount of butter folded into each pastry, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that eating some of these goodies on a regular basis would most likely expand your waistline and not extend your lifespan. The shop itself is exquisite in its simplicity. It looks like a bakery you could easily relocate to any historic downtown district and it wouldn't upset anything, and it's spotless! The pastries, pies and cakes are all front and center in large glass displays. It was so hard to choose which ones to take home with my $10 Groupon. When the woman behind the counter told us a luxuriously fruit-topped cake was $44, we feared we might only be walking away with a couple little tarts. It was five minutes until closing time and I had driven quite a way to get my fix before my deal expired. I threw caution to the wind and just started pointing out things for her to put in our bag. We ended up with 2 chocolate-almond croissants, 2 strawberry jam scones, 2 tartlets with real raspberries and blackberries and 1 mini pumpkin pie. Should I be ashamed that we polished off $18 worth of baked goods in one evening? Under normal circumstance, I might try and hide my gluttony, but each baked good was more delicious than the last. Besides making sure their items taste good and the Patisserie looks good, they also pay attention to the smallest details and give outstanding customer service. You will swear you're royalty or one of the gods when you come here. The pie and tartlets were carefully placed together in a cute white cake box and topped with a beautiful flower and a sticker reading that they are celebrating their 23rd year of business. And if knocking $10 off the total wasn't enough to make me a fan for life, we were also offered 2 muffins, 4 rosemary rolls and 1 entire baguette! I stopped at a deli on the way home with our complimentary bread to get complementary sliced meats and cheeses. How Euro!

All of the pastries are baked fresh daily (unlike some other bakeries which sell items which were baked on a different day). The pastries are expensive, but use high quality ingredients. My favorite item is still the bear claw (almond croissant). I agree with the other reviewer that the croissant is more like a brioche. For chocolate croissants, I go to St. Roger Abbey (located in Vernon Hills).

I just went to Ambrosia today based on my mom's coworker's recommendation. Every pastry i purchased was fantastic! the quality and flavor of the pastry's were absolutely heavenly. The cost, however, was exorbitant! Well, maybe there are more expensive placed to go, but i only bought 1 box of pastries and 1 bag of cookies and the check came to $44! But, you get what you pay for and i can find no fault in the food. One of the other reviewers is correct, don't get these for a large party, save ambrosia for your favorite people.

I ordered a birthday cake for my kid. I was pleased with the looks and the taste. Price was good also. I will definitely get my cakes from Ambrosia in the future. I used to go to another bakery but had a falling out with them over their customer service. Old bakery did a little better on taste if you order the right cake but this one was very good also.

TOP OF THE LINE cakes and pastries. The best in town. In a great setting. Pricey, but presentation, taste, and service is worth every dollar. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays now. booo.

I am not the biggest sweets guy but this bakery is fire! Probably would have to say its one of the best bakeries in the northwest suburbs so it's definitely worth checking out.

Ambrosia is a local gem. They make high end taste treat delights. Their desserts are something you would be proud to serve for a fancy dinner party or to bring to someone as gift. Everything is made fresh and has an excellent presentation. They have coffee and tea and sorbets. It is easy to get in and out quickly. But, they also have nice tables inside and out to read the paper, sip your coffee, and eat croissant or muffin.

From-scratch pastry made with high-quality and fresh ingredients beats out stuff from the can and tub every time. I'm really impressed with Ambrosia's pure flavors and fresh offerings. Take a moment to chat with the proprietress Deb - her pride in and passion for Ambrosia's creations is evident. Their traditional pastries are delicious, and their more inventive, creative creations are spectacular. The almond croissant is not to be missed.

A perfect Sunday morning starts with black iced coffee@ Ambrosia with their oh-so-good feta cheese and spinach croissants. Their coffee is so good that cream/sugar/milk is not necessary. It tastes like what real coffee should taste like. Oh!!! And their tarts and cakes! The goodness is in the dough (pastry part), which a lot of other bakeries try to hide by smothering it with over-sweetened filling. Ambrosia actually let's you taste the flaky, yummy crumbly bottom. I also like the fact that it has a local Parisian/European vibe to it. By far, one of the best bakeries in Chicago (and it's in the suburbs)! Makes me proud to be a suburbanite!
