I don't own a boat, nor do I know anyone who owns a boat. Almost everyone I know has been to Blarney Island, except for me, though I haven't come across a band worth the gas to see all the way up there. This past weekend friends of mine were playing at Port of Blarney and I decided to head up that way to check them out, and this place out. I still haven't made it to the island, but I'm getting close. So my review is based on the fact we DROVE here and didn't boat to the area. I'm not sure if the service is better on the island or what but the service here was horrible. It's not even the fact they're on "Island Time" here either....it was just bad, therefore the two star deduction. For starters, it took forever to even get waited on as we sat out on the deck waiting for service while listening to the entertainment out there. Chips & Salsa are complimentary and our server couldn't get that right as she brought the tray to the table next to us...a table of three people with a half empty tray of chips and salsa. We repeatedly had to ask for the following: water... napkins... silverware... refills... It was all just bad, but the atmosphere there was great, and relaxing... I'd hate to experience this place when it's busy - there was NO ONE inside, and three tables outside, with two waitresses. I'll probably go back, but to the Island this time...

this is one of my favorite places to have breakfast on the chain, they have an amazing bloody mary and mimosa's, the patio is dog friendly and the food is great. I would gladly suggest this place to anyone

A friend and I were craving a few bloodys on a Friday afternoon a few weeks ago, we would have taken the boat to the island but it was still closed. We read online about the ports "ultimate bloodys" so we decided to try it out. After walking inside the bartender asked if we were there for an interview...? As we said no she asked if we needed applications. After again saying no she proceeded with " then why are you here?". (Are you kidding?!) We should have left at that point but we made a stupid move and stayed. I asked about the bloodys and she said they weren't ultimate, they're just regular bloody marys. She was gawking at how good her's were. Quite frankly, I've had way better. They tasted like straight tomato juice and no garnishes. We started out with the Ruben balls which were amazing! We also did the fish fry. The fish was good, not super great, but I can't complain about that. The bartender came over with a Plate of nachos that she said the cook wanted us to try out. They were pretty good but the bartender kept coming to our table and eating off the nacho plate. I'm sorry but what place lets their employees do this?? If you're looking for professionalism this is not your place. I wouldn't expect too much from the port. It's basically a run down back up for the island that no one ever goes too. Meaning, if you're looking for a good time and great drinks GO SOMEWHERE BETTER.

This is the coolest place you can eat at on the chain. Even if you don't have a boat you can take t a fairy over. They usually have a DJ or a live band and you always have a good time. The staff is friendly and the food is okay. There's really no other place were you can eat at in the middle of a lake.

To be fair, we came in a group of about 13 HOWEVER, this restaurant is on the lake so I would think they'd be used to people in coming in fairly large groups. Our server forgot to bring out drinks multiple times so we had to keep asking her. She had another girl helping her but they weren't communicating well. When I told our original server that the other girl was already bringing me a drink she looked at me like I had 3 heads. Our food took FOREVER to come. At least 30 minutes. I got the chicken strips which were average. Ashley got the beer nuggets which I tried and I must say they were REALLY good! She also said her pulled pork nachos were tasty but a little overpriced. Brock got the Reuben which he was also pleased with. So overall our group was happy with the food MINUS the fact that Jessica's BLT came out with soggy, gummy bacon and a tiny piece of cheese fused to the bread. My guess is hers was one of the first dishes made and it got stuck sitting under a heating lamp until the rest of our table's order was ready. PRO's: Prices were good. They have giant Jenga to occupy your time while you wait an eternity for your food to be ready.

Good place to hang out with friends after a day of boating. An evening here makes for GREAT people-watching if you're used to hanging out in the city. Menu is basically bar food - I've never had anything spectucular, but then, nothing's even been bad, either. The ferry to Blarney's Island leaves Port regularly.

Me and a few of my friends drove to Port of Blarney/Blarney Island from Milwaukee. We were hungry and decided to eat at Port of Blarney before getting on the shuttle to go party on Blarney Island. I give this place 2 stars because the service SUCKS. We walk in and the hostess at the hostess stand walks away and never comes back to seat us. After 10 mins of standing there we had to go searching for the hostess ourself in order to ask to be seated. They responded with "just sit wherever" even though the sign said "Please wait to be seated." It took over an hour for us to get our food and it was nothing spectacular. 4 different servers served us and they were all very disorganized. Only plus side about this place is that it's right on the lake and has a pretty view and if you eat here you get to ride the shuttle to Blarney Island for free. If you eat here, don't have high expectations of this place.

If you don't own your own boat (which is unlikely here since this place is smack dab in the chain o' lakes where many people own boats) then this is the place to go to board the boat shuttle to Blarney Island. This is also an entry point onto the lake where people can drive their boats in. Seems like this place is a restaurant that ppl can stop to eat at if they own their own boat. Interesting concept to have a bar that sits right on the lake so boaters can drop in anytime. Plenty of parking for cars in front. Our party of three arrived on a Sunday afternoon so we could go to Blarney Island. The shuttle leaves for the island every hour, so we had about half hour to kill. There is a restaurant and bar inside and a bar oustide near the deck. Be warned if ordering liquor from the bar outside: Some of the hard liquor sits in the sun the whole day so ask for your shot chilled. My BF ordered a shot of Jameson but the bottle was sitting in the sun and the bartender didn't chill it. So it ended up being REALLY hot. We learned our lesson and asked her to chill the drinks next round. There is a live band that plays on the deck while you wait. Shuttle admission is $8 a head and there's plenty of seating on the boat. Our visit here was for a total of 30 minutes or so, but if this is the only way to getting to Blarney Island if you don't own a boat, we'll be back since we'd like to visit Blarney Island again.

maybe i expect too much from people, like speedy service with a smile. didn't get that here from bar maids or the waitresses. don't you want a tip ladies? put on a smile, i don't care, fake it and greet your table at least 5 minutes after the customer sits down. if i could, i would have gone in the back and cooked the food myself. now the fairy guys (guys running the fairy) were really friendly. one of them recommended we order some food at the port to get on the fairy for free. thanks for the tip. the port is not a place i'm itching to get back to, but i'm not ruling it out.

Wings were expensive given size and quality. I thought they were over priced compared to other places in the area. I don't mind paying more for quality, but these were just plain ol average wings.

When you order food at the "Port", check out the specials. I've had some great meals there. In fact, they used to have a meatloaf dinner to die for. Don't order appetizers and expect a cup of soup and salad to come with it.

THANK GOD FOR NUDIE PHOTO HUNT What a weekend. Went up to the Chain of Lakes when said lakes were unnavigable due to tons of rain and rising flood waters. This meant we couldn't party out on the boat and couldn't go to Blarney Island. Our next best alternative....the Port of Blarney. Wow, this place was dead. We figured that since Blarney Island was closed this place would be packed, especially on a Friday night. Aside from a few exhausted looking cougars on the prowl, the turn out was kinda sad. But hey, we were determined to have a good time and after a few beers, some nudie photo hunt, and some live music the night turned around.

We were out on the boat, it was evening, on a Sunday, and we needed a place to eat. Having never tried the Port before, we figured we would give it a try. Situated down a long channel off the Grass Lake bridge, I ordinarily would have not traveled down this channel, but I understand it was recently re-dredged and we never touched bottom. We found a decent public dock to tie up to and went in. Despite there being very few patrons inside, it took them 5-10 minutes to get organized and seat us which was disappointing. As others have reported, the food is your run of the mill bar food. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll. The pretzel roll was an interesting twist (no pun intended) and was actually quite good. I would order it again. The major downside is that they are obviously on an old well there and the tap water was hiddeous. After a day of boating, I love a tall glass of water to rehydrate and their water was rusty and virtually unpalatable. With water that nasty, they should just pony up and serve patrons bottled water. There are better places on the chain to eat, that's for sure. If I'm in the area and in need of some bar food to cap off a day of boating, I will give the Port a try again...only next time, I'm bringing my own water.
