I have been here many times. It's a nicer restaurant in downtown Antioch. While I have never had a bad meal- my favorite meal is the ravioli in the walnut sauce! Very delicious and better food than other fancier Italian restaurants.

I had high expectations when I made the choice to go to Oliverii North. Everyone raved about the food so I decided to try. We walked in and it was empty. Dead. We were seated and started our meal. The bread was fine and we ordered the calamari which was good. I ordered a pasta dish that had walnuts in it. Odd but I thought I'd try it. My dish came out and it looked like something out of Ramsey's kitchen nightmares. There were flat ravioli drowning in a muddy looking sauce and the entire plate was littered with parsley. The sauce was such an odd flavor and the raviolis were tasteless. I sent it back and the manager was very apologetic. She sent me home with tiramisu. I left disappointed with my dinner but pleased with the service. I got home and opened my cake hoping to have a good end to a bad night. Once again disappointment struck. The tiramisu was two layers of soggy sponge cake separated by whipped cream that had absolutely no sweetness to it. The entire thing left a raw vanilla flavor in my mouth. Never going back. Ever.

Overlooked gem in Antioch. I had the capellini pomadoro which was fresh and tasty. Bread was awesome. Service good. Quiet, so you can have a conversation. Recommended.

Oliveri has really been hit or miss for me. Their pizza is always amazing, can't go wrong! Their pasta is hit or miss though. Service is usually very good but last few times has been something of a mystery. I recommend for great pizza but as far as authentic italian dishes, there are better options.

Decent place to go for Italian food! Food is consistent and take out stays warm. We always enjoy the vodka chicken and their calamari!

Ambiance and service were fine. The food is just ok. My chicken with mushrooms and artichokes was under seasoned and bland. My wife's fish was good. The calamari was a bit over cooked and greasy but plentiful. Small pizza was tasty. What I had a hard time processing was the price. 70 dollars without tip is just way too expensive for the quality and portion sizes. It's better than Olive Garden but overpriced.

We came here on Friday eve before the rush. My mom recommended it as she's been here for lunch several times and never disappointed. I lived in Italy, so I am very picky about my Italian food, and was not at all disappointed by our meal. My kids range from 6 years old to 18 yrs old, everyone enjoyed their meals (and they are picky!) I had to ask for light breading on my chicken piccata, as I feel that is how it should be prepared, and it was fabulous! My daughter was able to order fettucini Alfredo (not on the menu) with no problem. The waitress was attentive, and drinks were promptly refilled. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

This place is your basic Italian restaurant. Before getting to the restaurant, I had high expectations, but I soon realized that the food was overpriced. The place has a bar, but it as loud and crowded as the restaurant isn't that big anyway (I'd make a reservation).

We've been there twice. Liked it both times. Food was good, good menu choices. Reasonable prices and good service. We're going to go back. Great bistro feel.

I love the food and the wine here. My friend and I used to come here for a girls night all the time before she moved to Germany so now I need to find a new friend to go with because I miss it a lot. Very good food. Service is hit or miss but we are never really there on a night where time is an issue and our patience level is good because of the wine of course lol! But it is good. I like and recommend it.

We hadn't been to Oliverii North in awhile, and were looking forward to the great meal we remembered. What a disappointment. This restaurant USED TO BE SO WONDERFUL, with flavorful dishes, cooked properly. Not sure if the chef has changed, but it's not as we remember it. I had the Linguine Di Mare, and it came with spaghetti instead of linguine with the toughest calamari I've ever eaten. The rest of the seafood was just so so. The other 3 in our party were disappointed too... claiming bland and forgettable dishes. BRING BACK THE OLD OLIVERII NORTH. Restaurante Bottaio in Libertyville, owned by the same people, is SO MUCH BETTER. Forget this place and head to Libertyville instead.

I think people go here that have never ate good Italian food before.. I suggested this place for my moms birthday everyone got something different at our table. And no one could finish their food.. It was tasteless and not cooked right. The only thing we could finish was the bread and we left hungry. And I pretty much ruined my moms birthday.

Located in the downtown of Antioch, IL Oliverii North is one of downtown Antioch's premier restaurants. I wasn't that hungry when I ate here but I decided to try it out. As soon as I walked in the feel was very cozy & classy & I noticed right away they had a very nice bar. The service was quick & nice & there was not one time where I asked myself where is the waiter. I ordered a small pizza. While I enjoy a thicker crust most of the time I really enjoyed their thin crust & the sauce was delicious. I am looking forward to eating here again & trying more of their menu especially some of their pasta. I would recommend this restaurants to others especially if you are in Antioch, IL.

I decided to give this place another chance this evening. Myself and a girlfriend met here for cocktails and dinner. My martini was mixed incorrectly which the owner made (Tom, if I recall, he introduced himself as being the owner.) When we decided to sit at a table to order dinner we noticed we were the only table, we thought that was great we would receive great service. We were wrong! I typically give a place another chance when something isn't to my liking as I understand everyone has an off day. This time the owner was there and on the floor. Our server was in the kitchen eating with her fingers and I know this because she stood right in the "cut out" window and I know she didn't wash her hands because she came right out (so not time to wash hands) GROSS! I see other reviews refer to this place as a "premier" Italian place. Well, if you know this town there is nothing to compare it too! Big fish in a little pond as they say. Food is way overpriced for the quality. The servers are sloppy and unkept in appearance and not well trained for the service you would expect for the prices they charge.

My wife and I love Oliverii North. The food is always delicious with a great selection of reasonably priced Italian comfort food as well as a bunch of scrumptious specials and deserts. We love the wine specials on certain days of the week also. Very friendly staff too! Oliverii North is a fabulous contribution to Antioch dining.

We were staying with friends in nearby Treveor and decided to have dinner here. What a wonderful experience. The food was fresh. The wait staff was helful and friendly. We drank several good wines from the wine list. And, the food was great! Enjoy! Glad we came here.

Our family came to Oliverii North for a birthday party. The food was okay, the service was awful. It took over 60 minutes for us to get our food, I had the Ceasar salad, which consisted of lettuce, a few chicken strips and croutons if you could find them. We had to ask our waitress several times where are food was and she kept telling us it was in the window and would be right up. As everyone around us was served and done eating , we were still asking for our food. A member of our party had to leave, so we again asked for their food so they could eat something before they left. When we arrived the "hostess" asked if we were celebrating a birthday , which we were and she said they would provide a Tiramasu(sp) or a piece of chocolate cake. They did do this and then charged us for it! Ugh, will not go here again. Very poor service!!!

Okay - We were here on a Monday to celebrate my wife's birthday. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 6.

We've dined at Oliverii North about once a month for the past several years, as the food is consistent and of good quality. A few reviewers have mentioned that their meal was salty, and I have found this to be true with some of the entrees (e.g. ravioli in walnut sauce). Another pet peeve is that some of their entrees come swimming in sauce. That said, there are plenty of things on the menu that I enjoy and the ambiance is pleasing. The kitchen accommodates special requests (e.g. hold the mushrooms for our picky teenager) and has even prepared meals that weren't on the menu for guests in our party with special dietary needs. We've had a few 3-star nights at Oliverii North where the service left something to be desired. There have been nights when the dining room was quiet, yet the wait staff seemed flustered or the kitchen was unusually slow. Every once in a while, we've had a waitress/waiter that didn't refill drinks, check on meals, etc. This hasn't been the norm. Overall, we appreciate having a restaurant like Oliverii North in town. We have plenty of pubs and casual family restaurants to chose from, but this is one of the few nicer places in Antioch to conduct a business lunch, bring a date, or have dinner with the family to celebrate an occasion. At the same time, you won't feel out of place showing up in jeans and a hoodie when you're just too tired to cook your own meal.

The food was delicious and the service was top notch. I thought it was really nice that the owner of the restaurant came out to check on our meal. We be going back soon:)

This is the best Italian place in the area. They an extensive pasta menu and specials every night. All dishes are made with the freshes ingredients. I really enjoy there cheese ravioli with walnut sauce but my favorite is the rigatoni with four cheese sauce. There drinks are extremely reasonably priced. I got a martini with my dinner and it was only 5.75! I also discovered that they have an extensive desert menu. Gelato, carot cake, ect.

Oliverii has amazing Italian food and exceptional service! I'm blown away that such a great restaurant exists in downtown Antioch. My husband and I choose this as our date night every time and we are never disappointed!

One of the best places to get Italian food in the area! Oliverii North blends old-world Italian charm with a modern, inspired menu. However, typically, when I find something on a menu that is out of this world, I tend to get that dish every time I return. At this place, its their Chicken Parmigiana I can't stay away from! The entree comes with soup or salad (salad features a wonderful homemade vinaigrette), bread, and a VERY LARGE entree portion. There are 4 locations: Risorante Abruzzo (Deerfield, Illinois) Ristorante Bottaio (Libertyville, Illinois) Trattoria Oliverii (Northbrook, Illinois) Oliverii North (Antioch, Illinois) I never have enough room for dessert, but I'm from all the other aspects of this place, they are probably very good.

wonderful little (okay, not so little) restaurant....have only done lunch there but there are multiple good things on the menu ... and on the specials....eggplant is one of my favorites...I try it everywhere...and their treatment is excellent....have been there with groups up to 15 or so...everyone seemed happy....try it; you will like it... note...once got the dinner menu by mistake...prices definitely go up for dinner...and understand it is crowded at night....but go...is worth it

Excellent food and reasonable prices. I love the Osso Bucco and eggplant parm! Staff seems very inexperienced which causes either slow service or at your table every 2 minutes interrupting a conversation. Both is not good and keeps from a 5-star rating. We go or take out regularly.

Excellent food...nice wine...professional wait staff...ignorance of Tour de France trivia a downer however!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
