Not as good as it used to be.

Food was good. We had an avocado omelette and a stuffed potato omelette. Both were very good. Extra food to take home. They had a cheerleader group in the main dining area and were hopping. Even with that the staff worked fast. At one point our waitress was running toward the back door. It was to help an older person and it capped the image of old fashioned service.

first, our server Tiffany or Jennifer (sorry i forgot her name, just drove 1 hour in a monsoon rain storm) was awesome! She was very friendly, my wife and her cousin have not seen each other for a while, so it was family catch up time, we were there over 3 hours, and we were never pressured to leave. The coffee and ice tea was constantly refilled even after we paid our bill. now for the food, it was good, chicken dumpling soup, Grilled Chicken sandwiches, salads out the wazoo. Very affordable prices. Even though we live an hour away, we will come back. Again our server made the visit so remarkable. Good food, good prices. PS, we stayed so long we were going to ask if we could wash the dishes.

Breakfast all day, but note that Antioch's Las Vegas restaurant "day" only goes to 3:30. Good for them. Friendly, helpful service and I just go with what my server recommends. Be sure and ask about the specials. I like the breakfast options better, not the omelettes as much as the other egg dishes and amazing pancakes. Good coffee which seems increasingly hard to find, and plentiful. Bottomless good soup. Clean, family run diner and it shows. SOMEBODY is paying extra attention to your meal and it is somebody from the family. Some nice window booths in the front. Street parking in front and more parking in the back. Excellent Neon sign, and great lit picture by Christina S. in Lake County. Las Vegas Restaurant is a solid option if you don't know WHAT you want for breakfast or lunch in Antioch. A-OK+

Las Vegas has always been a staple for the Antioch community. The name Las Vegas is not necessarily as fitting anymore being they aren't open 24 hours/day; it's still the same family atmosphere. But it is very disappointing they are no longer open even for dinner. Vegas used to be the go to place to have breakfast for dinner or broasted chicken. They now no longer serve broasted chicken and you can only get breakfast for breakfast (or lunch). Although the change of hours is a huge disappointment (and the reason they didn't get 5 stars) the food is still delicious and the service is still great. You can never go wrong with a skillet, homemade soups, or chicken strips.

I'M SOUPED UP I found a place that is the complete opposite of the Seinfeld Soup Dude. You can do no wrong here when getting your soup and it keeps flowing. They run an All You Can Eat Soup & Salad special for $6.99. That is a great deal. Plus you have the choice on weather you want a bowl or cup. The menu lists two daily soups but when I typically walk in they always have 5-6 soups showcased in the front of the restaurant. Soup is a big deal here. There is always a special going on for Soup to Go. Soup can be purchased in 3 different sizes with 32oz being the largest. Sweet Mother of Soup Bowl! And its not expensive. I believe it is under $6. They also run a deal. Buy 2 of the same sizes of soup and get a third for free. So you could walk out of here with 96oz of soup for under $12. Soup It Up Baby!!! Today I decided to do the Triathlon of Soup. I started out with a bowl of Broccoli Cheese Soup. I must say that it was delicious and full of cream. I would not expect anything less from this great local family diner. Since I was all warmed up I moved to the Cream of Chicken Rice. Again really delicious and full of creamy goodness. Those two were the star of the soup show. I decided to take a break and get my salad. It was an okay mix of 90% iceberg and 10% romaine. There was cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, croutons & cheddar cheese. I also got the blue cheese dressing on the side. I picked a good time to go healthy. Not! Okay back to the soup. I next went with a cup of Tomato Bisque and I must admit it was really delicious. I was really surprised. I was very letdown with the Vegetable Soup. It was really tasteless. I'm glad I only got a cup because I couldn't even eat it. I hate wasting but it was not good at all. I am also on the fence with the chicken dumpling. The broth was delicious but salty. The dumplings were very big and dry in the middle. They needed to be a little smaller. Plus if you got a cup of the dumpling soup it was full of dumpling. Our waitress was young and very absent minded. We would order stuff and she would forget or bring the wrong thing. It was hard to get mad because it wasn't like she was doing it on purpose. It was just her age. She would even repeat what we wanted back to us and she would then bring the wrong item. She even caught herself once when she realized she brought me the wrong soup. Hopefully she will get better in time or realize she doesn't want to be a waitress. The kids meals here are a great deal. We were able to get a grilled cheese, milk & apple sauce for $3.65. We then added on a soup for $1. Like we didn't have enough soup going on at our table or in our belly. I almost forgot about the bread basket. I'm sure it broke some health codes. The buns were stacked on top of a basket full of packaged crackers and breadsticks. Which I'm sure were touched by several other diners before me. They also shove the bread plates on the side of the basket. Again touching the packaged crackers. I know this is not fine dinning but health codes still need to be followed. I was on a soup high so I looked away. Nothing was gonna bring me down. This place is cute and a center piece of the community. The owner walked around wishing a Happy Holiday to her regulars which seemed to be every table but us. Yeah we were skipped. I'm not hurt but it was an opportunity for her to get out of the box and meet new people. It's nice to meet new people. Who knows you might even make us regulars! Maybe next time you'll say hello. If you're traveling through Antioch and your looking for some good diner food or to fill up your belly with soup, then this is the place. It's open 24 hours which is a bonus in this town. Next time I need a soup fix at 2am then I'm coming here. Soup Up!

Really on the fence about whether to get this place 2 or 3 stars. Decided to go with 3 because the service was excellent, the servers were funny, our friends really like the place and we only tried 7 items total from the expansive multipage menu. We had the chicken Parmesan which as expected was good - a little like Chef Boyardee tasting sauce, so nothing special. The pasta was fairly overcooked but this is not an Italian restaurant so that was not surprising. The Athenian chicken sandwich, was served appropriately with grilled pita bread which was sliced in half. It had soft, as much as you can call melted, feta cheese on top of the griddled chicken breast. Good flavor. A buffalo chicken sandwich had an enormous chicken breast, which appeared to be an entire breast from both sides of the chicken, with a very thick and crispy batter which reminded me of Arthur Treacher's coating on their fish fillets. It was good at first but then it got to be too much, just too greasy and too thick. The buffalo sauce was nice and spicy but it was very poorly placed on the chicken, ladled on just the center and most of it did not have any sauce. The Kaiser style bun was horribly dry and because I was not going to eat it anyway I did not complain, but I should have. The french fries, for which they charge extra, were good but it seems a little ridiculous to include chips and then up charge for fries. The absolute worst thing we had was chicken dumpling soup. Because it was at the beginning of the meal I did not want to complain or hurt our friends feelings but I should have sent it back. The dumplings were literally like rocks - dry and extremely tough and tasteless. The broth was the exact opposite it was so overpowering in flavor - really salty - so much so that I thought I would gain a pound from retaining water. It was obviously made from that powdered or paste soup base that uses salt as it's number one ingredient. Avoid the dumpling soup at all costs. The ice cream's for which they charge $.99 when added to a dinner, were both fresh with no ice crystals. All in all this is a typical Greek diner with management has probably run it for 40+ years and you can pretty much tell from the menu. You'll get a solid meal but you most likely won't be impressed unless you order the Grecian style cod which I now regret not having ordered. Our friends, who are real foodies, swear by that dish. Next time...

What happened to this place? Before they remodeled the food was ok, now I just can't finish! I ordered the chicken dumping soup and that was good as always. Then I ordered the turkey BLT with f.f. and I just couldn't eat another bite. The other person I was with had maybe 1/3 of her burger because it was tough. Tisk tisk, never coming back here again!

Best turkey club around! love the soup bar and fresh rolls with butter. Family dining where everyone can get what they want, the food is good and the price is nice.

Las Vegas is one of our standbys. Everyone is always friendly, the food is basic but good and portions fill you up for a really reasonable price. Great for dinner with the family or a late night post-bar crawl breakfast. You can't go wrong at Vegas. Beyond the food, the owners are great supporters of the local schools and events, a very generous family and I hope they stay in our town forever.

Pros: Pretty great coffee. Prompt seating. Fast service (not for large parties). Cons: The food is mediocre and even a little inedible. I was there twice in one weekend, once with a large party and the second time with one other person. In general, the party was pleased with the food but we were all starving. I mean, my pancakes were burned. How do you burn pancakes? The second time I was there, I couldn't even finish my breakfast. I had french toast (disgusting), hash browns (crispy to the point of crumbling), and eggs (ok). I finally ordered toast so I didn't leave hungry and they even burned that. Actually, I think it was made on the stove top because it tasted like other food. Do NOT sit in the section near the kitchen. It's loud and the tables are uncomfortably slanted. I usually love greasy spoons but will pass on this one.

Went for lunch with my sister. She had a blt and I had a open face turkey sandwich. It was SOOO good! They have tons of soups at lunch and it was very good too! The waitress was very nice and refilled our drinks right away. Good lunch for 20 bucks at a sit down dinner.

Great food! It's a diner and has great diner food with a nice feel to it. The service is good with our drink orders being taken an deleivered within 4 minutes. The meal was quick and everyone (kids on up) liked what they ordered. The family that runs the place is hands on and when they asked us how it was really seemed like they were listening to our answer. Good experience.

  • Kyle C.

The food is pretty good. I really liked the homemade chicken tenders and my family always love the soups. Service is pretty fast and friendly. The place is pretty small and kind of cramped in the main dining area, but otherwise it is a good place right in downtown Antioch.

  • John V.

My family stopped here for an early lunch. The place was very busy, but the service was still fantastic. Everyone loved what they ordered, and of special note was the absolutely amazing cream of chicken and rice soup that I ordered. It was among the best soup my wife and I had ever tried. We highly recommend this fine eating establishment with a casual atmosphere and great staff.

I gave the Las Vegas a 2/5 stars for nothing good or bad. It was a standard family 'diner' with an extensive menu. We were served 2 dinner rolls for 3 people which was odd & also off-putting. They only had 2 vegetarian options besides a salad so that is a negative for me. I ended up getting the vegetarian skillet; it was quite good! My family got pot roast & meatloaf. Strangely the gravy was different for both of their potatoes. Portion size was good, flavor & quality was also decent on my plate. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing really jumped out either. Wait staff was efficient but not phenomenal; I had to wait a while for a drink refill. The design and interior of the place is pleasing, very clean which is a good thing. The pricing was on the high side for the food quality. All in all I wish I could go 2.5 because it is a good mediocre level restaurant.

Food is always great and we come here at least once a month. My first disappointment happened this evening with a rude/unfriendly waitress. I said something to the manager who didn't appear interested. I looked at the receipt to reference a name and saw no name listed on the receipt. So, food is great - the waitress with the short red hair, not so great. We never felt welcomed or serviced! Really a shame, because we like this place. Service is key when you go out!

We love Las Vegas Restaurant. It is our "go to" breakfast spot and our neighborhood gem. The food is always delicious, and the owners are always so nice and thankful for the business. The soups are fantastic, and my daughter loves the crepes and french toast!

  • Cliff M.

I've been here twice for breakfast and the food is absolutely phenomenal. The skillets are excellent: I've had the Wisconsin Cheese and the Greek and both were huge and tasted great. Bacon on the side was good too, not overdone. Service isn't bad but isn't great. It's the only reason I'm going to ding this place a star. Both times we were there we had an order or two confused, requests for refills or cream delayed, side order forgotten once or twice. Not the end of the world and understandable given the size of group (6-8 people) and the fact we were a bit chaotic but it'd be nice to see better. Despite this the food is still great and I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

This was our first time to the Las Vegas Restaurant. I had read a couple reviews on here and thought I'd try it out. This is a huge restaurant in a tiny town. The menu was varied and had some wonderful choices.....but we came here for breakfast and this is what we got. My poached eggs were good...this was supposed to be a mini-breakfast with one egg but was given two (bonus points) and my husband had one of the lunch specials, a Denver omelet, which he said was the best he's ever had! And, it came with homemade soup to boot! There is an unlimited soup and salad bar for less than $7.....and many specials in the $5-7 range. Will return, no doubt!

I've been more times than I care to count. Good thing that Yelp does that for me. Vegas has a very large menu - breakfast, lunch, appetizers, dinner & desserts. There is a little bit for everyone. For me the food ranges from OK to Good. I've never been WOWed! My favorite menu items are the Mediterranean Chicken Salad, Mediterranean Penne (a special) and the Greek Skillet. My husband and daughter are big fans of the chicken dumpling soup. The pea soup (available only on Tuesday) is my favorite. They do offer a terrific deal on soup-to-go -- buy 2 and get a 3rd free. I've given only 3 stars as the kitchen is unpredictable. Several times key ingredients never made it on my plate (ex. bacon & egg missing from the chop salad.) This only happens to me - never to my husband or daughter. The staff has always been friendly. Despite the kitchen drama, my family continues to come back as Vegas is affordable and is open later than most restaurants in the area.

Favorite local place for breakfast. I've been going there my entire life and they've never done me wrong. That's one hell of a streak! Favorites: Vegas Skillet, Stuffed Potato Omelette, cream of chicken rice or cream of broccoli soup.

We just got back from a late lunch. My daughter had a Turkey Club. It was ok, the tomatoes were a little soft, the bread got soggy pretty fast and they laid pickes on top of the sandwich instead of the side so it soaked the bread with pickle juice, which wasn't appreciated. I had a waffle with a side of cajun hashbrowns. The waffle was standard and the hash browns were very good. We had cups of soup. The cream of chicken was good and the chicken dumpling, though the dumplings were a bit dry, the flavor was very good. It was served with a bread basket that was nice and bread was fresh. The pace of the meal was a little quick as the food came before we finished our soup. Drink refills were delayed because our waiter kept going over to sit in the booth with someone who may have been a friend or girlfriend . When it was time to pay, the cashier, though friendly, walked over texting on her cell and we had to wait until she was done and hit "send" before looking up at us. So, overall, it was fine, nothing spectacular but I would have given 4 stars if the service and staff were better. Beware though...parking is horrible. Go around the back and there is extra parking, though the amount of spaces reserved for restaurant patrons are about 6. Only 1 handicap spot anywhere in sight.

One of my local favorites. This is your typical large menu good price great food type of place. The most recent addition of the soup bar was a great idea. My family has gone here many times over 10 years always consistant and never a complaint.

Small town, family owned business with The Best french toast ever. We've been regulars for about three years and never had a bad experience. Seems like very low staff turnover and the food is simple and consistent. This is the only restaurant my family of five always agrees on. I recommend the Hungry Man breakfast then sub out (for no charge) the pancakes for french toast. More food that anyone can eat for less than $6 and they are very ok with spitting meals. Anyone want my extra bacon?

We recently had the opportunity to travel to Antioch on a Saturday morning and knew that we would be wanting to try out something great for breakfast so we ventured into Las Vegas after much research and reading reviews on Yelp. The place is easy enough to find, located on a busy downtown street. Parking wasn't a huge problem. We were able to get relatively close. A quick walk gave us the chance to talk to locals who said we made a good choice and that there were several other neat shops that we should stop in and check out while letting our meal digest. Walking in, this is your average, Mid-Western, (Greek?) family owned place. We arrived around 11:00 so there was a mix of breakfast and lunch patrons around. Immediately we walked in to what appeared to be an all you can slurp soup buffet of some kind, minus bowls, spoons and crackers, so we assumed this trolley was put here for the server's use to maximize space in the kitchen. It was kind of a turn off. Dried and clumpy soup was already congealing up the sides of the pans, so we immediately opted for breakfast. Incidentally, while we were standing and waiting at the door to be seated for a few minutes, we noticed the host/cashier/owner/manager, an older gentleman, had actually gone to the soup area and was grabbing a quick bite to eat for himself between the rushes. We patiently waited. Upon being seated we noticed that the place was hopping but there were several empty tables and while we were immediately seated, it took quite some time for a server to greet us. After almost 25 minutes in we were finally able to place our order. My husband and I both opted to upgrade to the cajun hashbrowns as another Yelper had recommended. Those were very good. I also ordered the Farmer's Steak upon recommendation from the same Yelper and was not disappointed, as I have enjoyed these types of steaks before, with scrambled cheesy eggs and my massive amount of cajun HB's. Let me clarify that the Farmer's Steak is......basically a thin salisbury steak minus the gravy. It is pressed meat, as opposed to ground. Very flavorful and tender, but if you are craving the meaty and juicy consistency of a sirloin, this is not the steak for you. Four beverages (coffee and iced tea), four entrees with the only upcharges being the 2 cajun HB's and the bill was $50. Not QUITE as inexpensive as we were expecting, but still conparable to any other breakfast/family style place around. With tip, out the door for $60. Meanwhile, we really enjoyed walking around downtown. It was a beautiful spring Saturday morning and there were several interesting shops, including a very high-end, chic chic candy store (think Willy Wonka on steroids), a couple of cool junk stores, a head shop and several boutiques. I would recommend a trip to downtown Antioch anytime....whether you eat at Las Vegas or not is up to you. 3 stars is more or less for slow service and the in and out, we are here to turn tables kind of atmosphere. Honestly, the food was 3.5.

The food is okay and the service is old and they need a new fresh staff that smiles and is a little quicker.

I love me some Las Vegas Restaurant. I go here all the time the food is almost always great. It's your typical Greek owned style diner, a little bit of everything on the book of a menu. I love coming here for breakfast and I used to love going late at night, but they're not open 24 hours any longer. :( I personally recommend the stuffed potato omelet. It's awesome. The one menu item I would steer clear of is the meat loaf. I've had it once and I'll never have it again. I was expecting a much better product from a restaurant of this quality. It was dry and heavy, made me feel ill the rest of the evening. Don't let this negative review shy you away, because as a whole I would recommend this place to anyone. See you there, I'm the current mayor on Foursquare

Good family restaurant food. Clean place despite being busy. Some busy places don't bother keeping clean but they do. Hosts and hostesses are friendly and helpful. Most waitresses are very good. Definitely recommended for there good cooking and interesting choices.

This is a great family diner in downtown Antioch. They are open until 10.45 at night on the weekdays and 11.45pm on the weekends. It used to be open 24 hrs a day but they reduced their hours. They have a great variety of food, and serve breakfast all day. Most dinner meals are served with soup or salad, entree and their specials include a desert. They also include a bread basket when a dinner is bought. The prices are great, the restaurant is clean and the servers are very friendly.

I thought Kiarash Z.'s review was really good, but too long and went into a bunch of personal detail that no one cares about, so I shortened it: She was sick as hell, ate some chicken soup and felt better. It was cheap and service was good.

Great Mom&Pop restaurant -- lots of locals -- very good food (and quick). Definitely a place to have a nice breakfast every week or so...they get to know you...and it becomes very 'homey'. The food's as good as sitting in a nearby booth watching the owners interact with almost everyone coming through the front and back doors -- by name.

seriously the best hash browns IMHO they use farm fresh eggs great plus. The menu is pretty varied there should be something for every diet. . it is a family owned restaurant and they are good members of the community. i grew up in Antioch.

I grew up 5 minutes away from this restaurant and have been going there my whole life. It has also been a great experience for people out of state that have come to visit me, who absolutely loved it. Food is always delicious, I never had to wait too long, staff is always friendly to me. My favorite is the chicken parm which always comes with soup and rolls. The soup and rolls are AMAZING. Sometimes I go there just for those. This is one of those comfort places, and I always enjoy it. My boyfriend insists that we go there like every day, and he's picky!

Great local place, owned by local people, and a nice menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This is your typical small town diner, although the restaurant itself is quite large. I am regular and always will be.

HOORAY! A NON-CHAIN RESTAURANT! After passing about 8 Taco Smells, 6 Pizza Sluts, and 10 Mickey Ds, I was beginning to think the Chain o' Lakes were named because of the area's dining options. A friend and I did a few laps around Main Street and seeing few attractive options, we opted for the time tested strategy of picking the place with the most people in it. Enter Las Vegas. This is a bustling diner that seems to attract visitors and locals alike. I have to say for a diner, the food was pretty good, especially the broasted chicken. They even advertise it on their sign outside so we had to try it. It was delicious! Crisp skin, juicy, and piping hot. It's not a life-changing meal or anything, but if I'm ever in Antioch again, it's where I'll go for a meal to avoid chain restaurant hell.

My wife and I moved to Antioch about three years ago and found this restaurant not only a nice comfortable place to go but the food to be very good. The service is great from the minute you walk in to the attention you get during the meal. Is it a classy place with white table linen? No and that is why it is so cozy. The comfort food menu will make you feel great, portions are huge and the variety leaves something for everyone. I travel a lot and have been to some of the best places around, but I always like coming home to my favorite local restaurant in Antioch!

I arrived in Bristol around midnight to help a friend move. I was hoping to grab some fast food on my way up, but I didn't realize the roads around the Illinois-Wisconsin border would be devoid of eateries. My friend suggested Las Vegas, which was just a few miles away. I was really sick with a throat infection, so 24-hour diner soup sounded just perfect. I had the chicken dumpling soup with a cup of tea. The thoughtful server brought my tea with lemon and honey. She was patient as my friend and I chatted for about an hour. The server didn't flinch as we opened up my laptop and watched videos and photos from a recent out-of-town trip. In the end, the total for a coffee, tea and soup was about $7. How about that? This place is better than the real Las Vegas. Also, the host was wearing a turtleneck and purple blazer, very Robert Goulet.

This is a basic but big diner. It has a big menu and its fun to stroll around and look at the shops.Especially JJ blinkers! and then come here for a bite..the soup ad coffee are very good.. I dont always care for the burly host staring at everyone...but otherwise the food is good and the coffee is hot and taste good.

when we visit our son and his family we love going to las vegas for a great family restaurant-type meal. this family-owned restaurant really takes care of their customers. they have wonderful home-made soups. i like ordering their turkey dinner. their salad entrees are enough for two people. the kids menu selection is just right for the little ones. my grandson likes the chicken nuggets. service is fantastic.

This is one of the few breakfast choices in Antioch. The food is fairly standard diner fare. From the locals, I've heard this place is best as a late night joint. The big upside is that its super cheap. We ate at the counter and several waitresses had plates of food sitting at the end of the counter that they were picking at as they worked...pretty tacky.

  • Kelly S.

My boyfriend and I went there for lunch. He ordered their meatloaf and I ordered chicken pot pie. It was fairly reasonably priced, getting rolls and a salad with it as well. The chicken pot pie was great! Wasn't overly salty, gravy was nice, had all it's veggies and big chunks of chicken. I had a bite of his meatloaf and it was delicious too. Granted, smothered in American cheese but it said that on the menu! I'll be back by myself one of these days.

Las Vegas knows exactly what it is. It's a 24-hour family diner, nothing more, nothing less. And it's had plenty of practice. The food is always good - you won't get anything to change your worldview, but you'll nearly always get what's advertised, and competently done. The best part, of course, is the breakfast food and coffee at all hours; the skillets in particular fill that wonderful niche between greasy indulgence and down-home comfort food. When in doubt, the Vegas Skillet is always a reliable fall-back. The only place where they fall down with any regularity is the service. Most of the time, you get the traditional diner waitstaff - tired, but competent, refilling your coffee and getting your order right. Maybe 1 time in 4, though, you'll get the "My shift is ending soon" service, typified by a 'close enough' attitude on the food order, chronically empty drinks, and a surly attitude. Overall, a very good 'default' option for when you're in Antioch, and nobody can agree on where to go. Or it's 3am.

My dad wouldn't go here for years after a couple of bad experiences and then one day we decided to try it. After a few minutes of sitting down we noticed there were bugs crawling all over the window. It was disgusting. We told the waitress who seemed to think we were complaining about nothing. We left and haven't been back since.

This is the Lou Mitchell's of border town Antioch! Breakfast commuters reading newspapers.....office folk soon to ride the long Metra to Chicago.....locals chit-chatting, plates rattling, and busy, efficient waitresses bustling. Lunch is the same but the suits are gone. A real Chicago-style coffee shop in the midst of cutsey tea houses and boutique-y shops for the tourists. You know -- steaming hot coffee served WITH the menu. Oh yeah, parking on the street might be iffy on weekends especially, but right around the next turn........no problem.
