Must stop when in Alton! Great place for the working guys to grab lunch and get back to work. You can call in your order if your tight on time. They are really moving during lunch hour and push to get you in and out so your not late. They can also do large orders for groups and parties with notice. Must get my favorite. Chicken tender box with a cup of nacho cheese. Great chicken livers with cocktail sauce and burger too!

It's nice to see Fast Eddie's is still offering up the same thing as they were when I first ate here in 1979. Fried chicken and fries in a box. Why screw up a good thing, right? I'm sure there are other items on the menu, but I've never gotten past the chicken and fries, and I'm not sure there's a need to. And there certainly wasn't a need to on a recent visit to Alton, where I put a chicken leg in my mouth, hopped on the memory train, and reminisced about all the good times I had eating with family and friends over open boxes of chicken and fries. Did I mention they serve great fried chicken and fries in a box? Now, if I could just get back all the calories I've inhaled eating it over the years, life would be perfect. But as much as life isn't perfect, Fast Eddie's is. Don't ever change Fast Eddie. America needs awesome fried chicken and fries in a box, and you're the man to do it. Now if you could just open a location in FL where I now live, life WOULD be perfect.

Solidly good fried chicken. I wish I could give it 5 stars but occasionally it is dry and not very fresh in spite of the place being busy. The chicken would benefit from a brine. Still the chicken is good, the coating crunchy and you receive a good value for the cost. The white box is an excellent value. The simple stand and the low prices make it a solid choice. There is enough chicken to share, and if you order an additional side it is easily a meal for 2 people. The mushrooms are delicious. Bring cash, like most of the good local places in Alton, they annoyingly only accept cash payment.

I lived in Wood River IL for thirty years and never been here. So I had some time to kill today and decided that today was the day I try this place. I got the regular chicken with fries and find out real quickly I should have came here sooner. The chicken has a nice crust on it that looks golden. It wasn't very grease. The fries are fries nothing special. I would rather eat chicken out of this box than at woody's chicken. Only downer is there no place to sit. If they had a couple of tables outside would be nice. But ill still come back and eat in my car.

Cheap fried chicken done right and done simple. You'll have no extra sides to choose from, they only offer one and it is crinkle cut fries. Your order will then be placed in a plain white box with a flip lid. They focus on flavorful chicken, not presentation. Your boxed lunch can be a 1/4 or 1/2 chicken and be mixed, all dark or my favorite all white. The pieces are above average in size and seasoned with a peppery coating. Pieces may be a little greasy, but the box absorbs it up so it really is not an issue. They also offer burgers and from what I've heard, great milk shakes. I need to expand my experiences here, but every time I walk up to the window, I order chicken. Keep in mind that there is no where to eat here, it is take out only. You'll walk up to a window that is outside, place your order and go enjoy your meal elsewhere. No ambiance, keeps the chicken cheap. Yes, this is the same Fast Eddie as Fast Eddie Bon Air. If you enjoy him at the Bon Air, check out his chicken.

I was in the St. Louis area for work and I was craving fried chicken beyond the usual chains in the area. Yelp has never steered me wrong....excellent chicken. If you ever thought fried chicken HAD to be greasy, you are sooo wrong. This chicken was crispy and tasty but not greasy at all. This is simply good old fashion fried chicken, definitely worth the drive over the bridge. Note, they only take cash and there is no where to eat, so prepare to eat in your car if you can't wait to get home. Nice thing is since its not greasy, it will still be crispy.

Best fried chicken & fried mushrooms in the area. Ok...Woody's is good too, but this place has always been my favorite. An old drive in still serving up "good eats".

It's alright. I think they could do a little better than just tossing your chicken and fries in a cardboard box that starts sweating through with grease after a minute. The chicken is solidly good, though, and I like the shakes. I also feel like the wait here is a little longer than it ought to be, considering the simple setup.

If you want EXCELLENT fried chicken, real cheap and very quick, head on over to FEFC! Make sure you take cash, because I'm 99% sure they don't take plastic. We always get chicken and fries, and did I mention, they are the FABULOUS crinkle cut fries? Mmm. Brings me back to school cafeteria days. They do have a menu - be sure to grab one when you pick up your food. There isn't seating outside, just a walk-up window, similar to a ice cream shop.
