Easily the BEST pizza in Chicagoland. Easily. We challenge you to call it another way. No joke, when you say Lou Malnati's, Uno's, Gino's, Giordano's, etc. we say "blah blah blah". We're not saying that Lou & Gino does not make a good pie (they do), but Buddyz is the pure definition of amazing Chicago pizza. Their crust is divine, buttery, crisp, & chewy all at the same time, their ingredients are always fresh, & the combination will leave you wanting more. When folks come to visit us from out of state & they want the best Chicago pizza, Buddyz is what we serve them, & they always say: WOWSA!!!!

Very good pizza. :) Decent atmosphere, TVs with sports going. Had a pepperoni sausage and mushroom pizza tonight with the family. We had a Calamari appetizer. The calamari was a bit heavy on the breading but my kids ate a TON of it so thats fine. The pizza crust was very good and still had a nice yeasty flavor. We asked them to use light cheese as we do not like to lose the taste of the sauce on our pizzas. It was perfectly done...crispy crust ,soft in the middle, tasty sauce, with nice toppings. Chocolate milk for the kiddies and considerate staff. Bathrooms VERY cold but fairly clean. Oour server was friendly and considerate.

Very cozy and friendly place. I am not used to staff being so friendly in a pizzeria. I can see why they have such high scores now. The staff was very attentive. I ordered the Italian beef. I know, odd choice for a pizzeria. The only thing I have to say is that the wait was a little long for the sandwich. They do have appetizers there, so that may have been a mistake on my part? The price was just right at about $12 for a sandwich, onion rings and a spite. The food was really good too. This is a nice friendly place to take your date if you like pizza. Since I did not have pizza, I can't review on that, but the other yelpers say it is good. They do have a bar, and they did a good job of keeping the bar and the restaurant separate. Also, they told me that the have karaoke on Wednesdays at 9pm, if your in to that.

We have come here a few times now and I have decided that the pizza is very good. They have really interesting "special" pizza. The sauce is very good. We had the stuffed the first time and the hand tossed the second both are great options. Also, the ingredients they add to the pizza are fresh.

Thin is best around and the deep dish is right there with Gino's. Service is great. No complaints.

I loved this place for their lunch buffet and went a couple times a week from work. Unfortunately, they discontinued the buffet. very disappointing : (

The pizza here is delicious. I eat one piece of the deep dish and I'm full. We always take out of town relatives and friends to eat here (or carryout) so they can get a taste of what Chicago pizza should be like.

After 2 visits to Buddyz Algonquin we will not return. High School aged waitstaff found more time to talk to themselves than interact with customers. The food was mediocre at best. We both ordered the "ultimate meatball" 1 was turkey the other was beef. waitress had no clue as to which sandwich was which and let us "figure" it out. The sandwiches had zero taste! The pizza tasted like wet card board. Needless to say we wont be back!!

This place is great! I really like small local restaurants. Yes, they do have a couple of other locations, but aren't quite a big chain which is nice. Everyone is incredibly friendly and the service is awesome! The thin crust pizza...amazing. I like it pie cut, not in squares, just my personal preference; yum!! Pretty good music and not too loud. Nice TV's by the bar for sports. Overall a nice place to hang out.

Thin crust pizza is delicious but expensive! 2.25 for a topping on a $20 base 18 inch thin crust! Ouch! Definitely feel the sting on that one. Delicious melted cheese atop pepperonis and spinach though can be worth it. We also tried the Cheese Curds. Ahh not what we were expecting. Didn't really eat any of them. Looks like a cute little place to eat inside though. Will try again but maybe only as a special treat.

Butter crust pizza is amazing. Thin crust is just about as good. We've tried various other local pizza joints. This one has been the most consistent. Order for pick up if you're not okay with a louder than usual atmosphere.

My wife and I went there for our traditional valentines deep dish pizza. We try a new place every year. We ordered a deep dish with garlic. It was absolutely incredible! It instantly jumped to my second favorite pizza, Lou Malnatis being number one of course. The greatest part was not only was the buttery crust amazing, it was still crunchy all the way through. The service was great and was a good atmosphere. My only regret was that I couldn't eat more of it. Definitely check this place out. Dining in is best because we did get it for take out a few days later and the crust wasn't crunchy (my fault because we didn't eat it for 45 minutes after we picked it up).

I have had pizza from all over the country and have only found edible pizza in 4 states. Illinois, New York, California, and Nevada. When it comes to deep dish pizza theres 5 places to eat and the rest are bandwagon posers. If you are reading this review because you aren't sure whether or not you feel like gambling on a new pizza place then stop. It's not a gamble and you will thank me forever and ever for telling you to just suck it up and go there. This place is absolutely wonderful. How on earth is this place not 5 stars? There's only 1 place in the country that makes a better deep dish pizza than this place and thats pizzeria uno... And don't give me that Lou Malnatis crap they don't even season their sauce!! It's just tomato paste! Buddyz pizza has the PERFECT amount of chunky tomato sauce and super thick edges. With the not so thick crispy crust in the middle it makes for the perfect mix of crispy with thick layer of Cheese and hunks of tomato. The cheese as you pull a slice out strings as long as you can pull it and you have to eventually cut it. Contrary to popular belief deep dish pizza really doesn't have a really thick Crust like most believe.. It's really suppose to be about 1/4 in or less thick and crispy with the edges flipped up to hold all the cheesy goodness and super thick and chunky tomato sauce in. Buddyz executes this to perfection.

Went to Buddy'z after talking my friends out of Lou's. I just wasn't in the mood for a deep dish and loved the Buddy'z in McHenry - so I begged for them to try this one with me. Seriously wish I hadn't! First, when taking out drinks, the waitress didn't know what beers were on tap when she was taking our orders - okay, it happens. I used to be a waitress, I get it. She said she would check. She disappeared for 15 minutes before returning. We ordered our drinks and she took our appetizer orders. When ordering our appetizers I asked her what the soup of the day was - surprise surprise, she didn't know and would have to check. Okay. We get our appetizers and I have to ask again, she forgot to even look. When I finally found out the soup and ordered it, I was really disappointed - I'm convinced it came from a Campbell's can. Next we order the pizza's, for which we wait 45 minutes - normally with deep dish, this is to be expected, but we ordered a thin crust pizza. I'm not shocked that the pizzas took so long though, since they came out completely charred and inedible. At this point, between the long wait times between waiting for our waitress, complaining about the quality of the pizza wasn't even worth our time. Got there at 7, left at 10 still hungry. Won't be back - next time I want Buddyz, I'll go to McHenry.

I went to Buddyz for my son's soccer team's end of season party. I definitely recommend them for this sort of party--they reserved a large area for our group and then charged a per person flat rate price for pizza, salad and sodas, including gratuity. I believe it was $8 for adults and $5 for children 8 and under. They kept the pizzas and drinks comin', and let us order whatever kinds of pizza we wanted. The pizza was good--not my favorite local pizza, but quite good. Not surprisingly, the only ones eating the salad were the moms and a couple of dads, but the salad was very good, too.

Pizza was not bad. Service could had been more attentive. Perhaps it would had been better for pick up rather than eat in.

Pizza is very good. We always take out. Always hot. Stopped in for a couple of beers. Overpriced bottled beer. Disgusting amount of dust on wine rack. Bartender just fair.

The rating description for the two starts is perfect "I've experienced better". Unfortunately, the better I have experienced was actually at Buddyz. We loved their pizza. We have been consistently buying up their pizza since they opened. Unfortunately, something has changed these past few weeks. A few weeks ago, we brought home our favorite Millennium pizza and it was bland and greasy. It is never bland and greasy. Tonight, we crossed our fingers and tried them again, thinking that we had an off night a few weeks ago. We brought home the Mag mile and it had no flavor. We tried to figure out what changed, but couldn't put our finger on it. I called to asked if they change the cheese, the sauce, the crust? The girl that answered the phone didn't think so, but something is very different. Unfortunately, I think we are done with Buddyz and have to move on to find our new favorite. I certainly don't mind spending $30 bucks for a pizza, but it needs to be fabulous. Please bring back the fabulous so we can continue to support these very nice people.

Great place: great pizza, great people, great bar. The marinara here is amazing. Also the pizza chips and the buttercrust pizza.. And the other 3 kids of pizza, and their salads. The list goes on:)

Historically, have enjoyed their pizza. Horrible experience ordering tonight. Huge delays, no communication with patrons, no effort to ease 40 minute wait after coming 1 hour after ordering. Drove away and realized 2 pizzas were wrong. So frustrating decided to return all pizzas for full refund, refused to keep despite offer. On principle, efforts to engage and retain customers were negligent. Algonquin location

I am totally disappointed. Visited for the very first time. Had a medium pizza a 2 drinks a piece with my husband. The server could not print out our receipt and without tip we owed almost $60. Add 20% tip and we were over $70. Never again. I feel like we were taken for a ride. Could have gone several other places in the area for more than pizza for that kind of money.

It was wonderful! I went to Buddyz in Mchenry which I think opened a few weeks ago! It was prob the best pizza I have had in a really long time! I sat at the bar with some friends, the bartender which I think his name was Josh was very helpful. He gave us some suggestions and we went with them. I had the deep dish buttercrust Pizza and let me tell you it was wonderful! You should def try the place out. Thanks Josh and Buddyz for a wonderful time!

My family has been getting take out pizza from here for a long time and we love it. I think they have some of the best pizza around, way better then lou malnati's and giordano's. We always get a thin crust and a deep dish, usually sausage on the deep dish and pepperoni on the thin. What can i say its just great.

Been going to Buddyz since they opened in Algonquin. They make a fantastic pan pizza with an incredible buttercrust....just melts in your mouth! You can also order their calzones with the same buttercrust, which is an incredible treat. The prices on their pizza are not exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for! They usually only have 1 or 2 beers on draft, so I wish they had more of a selection. Regardless, I'm a big fan and they definitely make the best pie in town!

Best pizza I ever ate!!! The butter crust is heaven. No need to go anywhere else.

Lunch buffet is terrible! Had to wait 15 minutes for more pizza's to be brought out. The pizza's are fair, did like the crust on the deep dish. The waitress was rude...btw you have to pay extra for a sprite, not included with the GREAT deal they give ya...go elsewhere for lunch. To the individual that sent me a comment that thinks I need to post a picture if I leave a bad review. If I posted a picture do you think that would change my opinion?? Silly comment or perhaps cyber bully???? oh no

Went for a pizza dinner with the hubby. Was pleasantly surprised. Sat in the bar. The bartender who served us was the sweetest, most attentive and well-timed server. She was amazing. Always knew what we wanted without us having to ask for it. The pizza was pretty darn good too. We had the Chicago Fire (think buffalo chicken pizza) and it was great. Our server recommended dipping it in ranch. While it's not going to help anyone look better at the beach, it's the bomb!

Had a restaurant.com cert and decided to try it out. Got cheese bread (powdered garlic and cheap cheese on chewy bread) pizza chips (thin crust baked and cut like chips with tomato and an overly olive dip) Butter Crust with pepperoni and tomato slices (canned gross tomatoes could not taste the pepperoni, the only tastes that could be discerned were overly bready crust and the loads of dried spices they put in the sauce) Service was a little slow but the waitress did seem to be working every food table in the place. It was much more expensive and the food was nowhere near as good as the lou malnotti's right down the road. Edible but I'm not going back.

Found this little place using myYelp app when our first restaurant choice was NOT going to work for us. We walked in and the staff was super friendly and took our orders right away for drinks and gave us menus to look over. They have a huge list of specialty pizzas that sounded pretty good and the pasta sounded amazing! My friend and I decided on a pizza with pepporoni, mushroom and sausage(im too picky for the specialty one). The pizza is AWESOME, it blows what use to be my favorite pizza place out of the water. The crust was super thin and crispy, my favorite kind and there was a huge amount of cheese and toppings on the pizza, you never got a bite without the toppings on it. *They have a website with coupons to print out. The manager was nice enough to let us us it on our phone though!!

Love the thin crust pizza here. When you want to have some pizza that isn't all crust... This is the place to go. Good apps... Beer selection is limited. I would like to see a couple more micro beers. We like to switch it up. Put always seem to come back to the "Lincoln Park." (Minus the onion). BBQ pizza w bacon and sausage. Must try. All in all... Nice local place. Owners are great. Tim is a super guy.

Great pizza, good bar (Mike is very nice and always remembers me), and fun atmosphere. Only complaint: I came in to get a gift card around Christmas, and the girl at the front looked at me like an alien. She went in the back to ask for help, and a lady came out with pizza in her mouth and explained that they only sold gift cards in increments of 10 and 25. I bought one of each and left annoyed. My parents are out using their gift card today, I hope their server doesn't try talking to them with a mouthful of food!
