Nielsen’s Frozen Custard Menu

I've noticed after years of visiting friends and now family who have gone to BYU-Idaho, when it comes to the food options here, things are pretty sparse, especially once it starts getting later at night. You'd think a college town would have more options at 10 pm on a Saturday, but that's not the case. My boyfriend and I were running around getting things for my little sister's apartment, and he really wanted a hot dog. When I did a search on Yelp!, Nielsen's was the only place open that came up when I searched for hot dogs. It's a fun little spot; definitely nothing too fancy, but for some fries, a hot dog, and ice cream, it does the job for this little town. He said the "Rex Dog" was great and it is huge. He thought he'd need 2 hot dogs, but 1 was more than enough with the fries he had, which I tried and thought were great! I had a small Oreo concrete and it was pretty good. I liked how creamy and smooth the custard was. This is a fun little place to stop into that is close to the west side of campus for the students.

This place looked to have promise from the outside with the neon lights shining but once I got inside and saw the front counter my expectations shot to the floor. It looked messy and unkept. I ordered The Rex Burger since that is what I was told was so good. It took forever for it comes out and I was surprised to see what looked like an over cooked frozen patty as the number item in the menu. It was underwhelming in its flavor and unsatisfying in flavor that reminded me of the cheap $1 burgers I used to eat in middle school. Save your money and go get a better burger.

POSITIVES: amazing food! This restaurant has THE BEST french fries in Rexburg. Their concrete was decent and filling (its healthier than ice cream, made with milk, it's a mix between ice cream and frozen yogurt). Their "rexburgers" are also top quality, with so many options for ingredients. For the decor, imagine if a nice 50s diner and In-N-Out had a baby. NEGATIVES: their service was not on par (slow), and they weren't even busy yet. The food is a bit pricy, but they have a great deal with the card punch offers. PRICE: $6-10 per person RECOMMENDED: rexburgers, all-you-can-eat fries, concrete (frozen custard). Their avocado sandwiches are decent.

Some might think that the concretes are expensive, but if you've ever had one it's definitely worth the $5. I always loved frozen custard, especially from Freddy's, but after going to nielsons... Nothing can compare. It's amazing. I've had a sandwich and it was pretty good as well, but I've never had any other food. As far as their frozen custard goes I give them a 5/5. Their service...is not so much. Staff is always friendly, but it takes extremely long to get my order. I once waited over 10 minutes sitting at the window in the drive thru just for one concrete. But even then..... It's worth the wait.

Nielsen's is the place to go when on the search for a delicious burger! Their custard is also really yummy! The prices are pretty good and it has a 50's diner ambiance! Good place to go anytime!

I love this custard! The food is mediocre. But the concretes are worth it :) personal fave: raspberry and cashew with vanilla custard.

Best burgers in Rexburg. The custard is great. Concrete is highly recommended. Sandwiches are good, though I prefer the burgers.

Great food, especially the frozen custard. YET, the service is INCREDIBLY SLOW!!! It would be better if you felt they were trying to hurry. Some of the employees do hurry and they are always kind and helpful.....but they need some training on efficiency and start taking orders electronically.

Really expensive! The concrete is good though. Same as you'd get at any other Nielsen's. And no, I dont own or have relation to the owner even though i have the same last name.

So their custard is definitely five stars! I don't know why I have been waisting my time with regular ice cream, never again. Custard is far superior. It is so smooth and creamy with lots of different mix-ins available. The food is good too but it is all made to order so be prepared to wait a bit. The fries are way good and bottomless.

The chicken tenders are ones that I could buy at dames club and cook myself. Lost of fat and low quality meat. The quality of them in general is very low. The hot dog is also not that great quality beef and tastes like it was boiled rather than grilled. When they served mine, the bun was torn in half so I had to eat it like a sandwich rather than a hot dog. I also ordered a raspberry concrete and they served me a strawberry one. The raspberry one is really good as are all the concretes but when I order a certain flavor I expect to get that flavor. They need to get the orders right though. Also the service is incredibly slow and they aren't efficient in the kitchen or with the register. They waste a lot of time running back and forth to add ingredients rather than having them all right where they need them. The only reason they don't get 1 star is because I love their raspberry concretes.

This place was ok. The burgers were bland. I tasted more of the toppings than the actual patty. Fries were disgusting. They tasted like they've been sitting out for a while. They were super soggy and greasy. The custards are ok. You can get better at Dairy Queen. Better burgers and ice cream I think at DQ. I would definitely not come here if you're looking for something amazing. Only if you're hungry and have a lot of time to wait for food.

You can't get better custard anywhere in Rexburg. Love the different flavors and atmosphere that the store provides. Fun to go in with friends and enjoy the night.

Their concretes and other dessert items are fantastic! I also think that their food is good too, especially the burgers. Their sandwiches (Grinders) are very good as well, a little expensive and small but still tasty. Overall I think that their desserts are the best, and their food is definitely worth a try. Plus they offer some really great deals on Tuesdays through Thursdays!

Tasty treats, but incompetent, slow, bad service! It is good old Rexburg so I don't know what I was expecting.

I would give it less stars if I could. The burger was $7 and was basically concession stand quality. Seriously I cannot emphasize the shame that Nielsens should feel for trying to sell something so crappy at such an outlandish price. Don't go here. There are plenty of other burger joints that are much better... Pretty much any of them would be a better option.

I am sorely disappointed. I've been to other Nielsen's locations, in Bountiful and Salt Lake City and have found them reasonable. Here, however, what I found was an exorbitant price for a tiny sandwich of decent quality. What's up with that? I'll admit, the ice cream wasn't part of my experience, but the prices for this brand new structure they've built reflect their attempt to recoop their expenses. I don't appreciate that and will never eat there again.

The food was ridiculously overpriced and frankly gross. The custard was okay but their toppings were stale and disgusting (especially the lemon! it looks and tasted like highlighter pen). With three other customers in the whole place it took them a half an hour to microwave me three little chicken strips. The service was terrible, the employees were rude and impatient when I asked a few questions about their menu (plus didn't do their jobs very well). The tables were all sticky and the floor needed swept and mopped badly. I will never go there again.

Not as good quality as other nielson's franchise locations. Dollar cone mondays went up in price to 1.10, which is kind of disappointing.
