Took my wife here on our first date years ago so it holds a special place in my heart. Atmosphere is fun as they've heavily decorated it to look Hawaiian. Good portion sizes, however it can take a while to get your food. So make sure you're with someone you like talking to! Food has always been yummy (I actually hate sushi so I stick with the pork). Very unique place for Rexburg.

Went there once, sat around forever to get not so great food. I'm content eating elsewhere for the rest of my time in Rexburg.

Decent food. I've been here a few times and it usually takes them 45-60 minutes to get our orders out. Not sure why I keep coming back.

If you want real Hawaiian food this place is mediocre at best. Being from Hawaii, I can say the food is...ok. But extremely over priced. $5 for 2 manapua?! Insane. Don't even get me started on the aloha drink prices. The wait is always long no matter when we go. But expect to be waiting anywhere from 20-50 minutes for your food. I like the waiters/waitresses but have heard from behind the scenes they're pretty catty to each other. Since this is the only place for miles and miles that has hawaiian food, when you get that craving, this will have to do. They have the weirdest hours too though. I was so ticked, we came here my graduation day for our celebratory early dinner with a good sized family. They were all looking forward to try this place. But when we got there at 1:45 they told us they close at 2. And open at 5, well obviously I couldn't come back at 5 cause I'd be receiving my diploma! Horrible business choice. Choosing to close early like that, on graduation day?! (Which they apparently do every day but you'd think they'd stay open for this day to get tons more business). By turning us away they forever lost most of what little respect I had for them, and also lost probably a good few hundred dollars. So glad I've now moved to a city where I can get twice as better hawaiian food for half the price.

Sushi is good. Service is really slow. Waited over an hour from time of order until the food arrived. The place was not very busy either.

Great Hawaiian food and the sushi isn't so bad for being 1000 miles away from the ocean.

POSITIVES: The service was wonderful, and the food was even better. The decor is spectacular! (The only place in Rexburg that compares decor-wise is Gator Jack's). Thankfully, we only waited 10-15 min from sitting down to actually getting our food, as we went during the 7-week break. Also, they brought out a HUGE plate of huckleberry ice-cream on macadamia nut crust for free for my birthday. NEGATIVES: It can be pricey, and the wait can be long depending on when you go. PRICE: About $10-15 per person. RECOMMENDED: We really enjoyed "Da Mix plate" and "Sushi Mix plate" for great variety. Also, the Bento Box special is another good choice for people that want a little bit of everything.

It's good Hawaiian food for Rexburg. I'm from Las Vegas and have had sushi there, in California, and Florida so it's hard for Da Pineapple Grill to compare. We got the Philly roll, the Hawaii roll, and the Kauai entree. The tuna in the Philly roll was really firm. I am used to sushi just melting in my mouth and this was a little more chewy. The entree was okay. The teriyaki beef didn't have a ton of flavor; the sauce was quite bland. The tempura shrimp was pretty plain but the chicken katsu was pretty good. The fried rice tasted like it had way too much black pepper. The service was okay, our waitress was nice. Overall, it was mediocre. I will probably give it a second shot before I write it off.

We had to wait 2 hours until our food came to the table. When the food came out they didn't even have the right order for one of our family members. Several people came in before us, ordered, received their food and left before we even saw our dinner. We asked to speak to the manager and we're told that they could only offer a free dessert or 10% off our meal which amounted to $2 off our dinner. On top of this after a 2 hour wait when we finally received our food they wanted to charge us 50 cents for an extra cup of ranch. The manager came and had a negative attitude towards us and was unwilling to listen to our concerns. It was frustrating to wait and then be treaded with disrespect from the managers. Would not recommend this to anyone.

This is known as the only "hawaiian" restaurant in the area. It definitely is the best place to get sushi! Da Pineapple Grill features many authentic and americanized hawaiian foods, with the most popular being the kalua pig plate, I've been told.. When we dined there we got variations of the chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki, each were delicious. We were seated quickly and given a few minutes to look over the menus before ordering drinks/appetizers. Everything came fairly quickly, although at times you forget you have a waitress. The decorations might be a little cheezy for some, but it definitely could be much worse. There are a few tiki torches and statutes but aside from that, it's a nice place to eat. As far as Rexburg goes, it can get a little on the pricey side, which makes this more of a special occasion restaurant for my budget, rather than a weekly trip. I'd go again and focus more on the sushi!

Probably the worst service I have ever received. The food took a long time, people who sat down after us got their food before us. Not to mention once we got it we hadn't even had it for 4minutes before the server came back and asked if we would like some boxes. The set up was horrible, hard to have a one on one time when the set up is horrible. They put us right next to the kitchen so it was hard to hear. We got the lettuce wraps and they were really good, and we also ordered the pig dig dinner or something like that and the only thing that wasn't bland was the chicken, which was The smallest portion. The food was definitely over priced and the restaurants schedule sucks, they only serve dinner 3xs per week which in a town like Rexburg is ridiculous. Especially for people who have kids and want to get out before the weekend date night rush.

I go for the sushi which is mediocre. The over all service is super slow and no one seems to know who has which table.

My husband and I ate here and have nothing good to say about it. First of the food is not that great and it is way over priced for the amount you get. Second off it took almost 45 min to get our food and the servers were not friendly at all in fact we had 3 different ppl serve us and all of them were unfriendly. We had a horrible experience and we will never go back. We can find way better food at a better price in Rexburg.

I only ate here once the 5 years I spent up in Rexburg. The food was actually very good, but the service was not so much...I felt like I was on Hell's Kitchen waiting for a couple hours for my food. Looking back I never thought about this place. Their advertising was so poor and they were in an awkward location...they could do much better in another part of town.

Truthfully this is the only place that Rexburg can offer that could be considered fine dining. Sushi and other asian type dishes are the fair here, but everything I have ever tried here is above average. The sushi is out of this world. Try Eleena's special or the Volcano Roll. I have taken clients and executives here before and they have all been impressed. Service can be slow at times, but the food is certainly worth the wait. Sushi comes out in about 5 minutes, but a cooked meal with take 20-30 minutes.

Meh. The poloke roll is great, but a few times I've gone and been served sushi with rice that was NOT fresh. So I would say it's four stars on some days, two on others.

The sushi here is surprisingly fresh for Idaho. The spicy crab roll is some of the best sushi I've ever had. The hawaiian food is pretty good as well, but isn't as good as the sushi. The service is friendly, but the food often takes a really long time to come out.

Food is good. Service is terrible. Undertrained and understaffed. Very nice looking, but a bit forced in the fancy category. Sushi is good. Hawaiian Plate lunch theme is in overkill with portions that would offend local's in Hawaii, but hey it's Idaho. Overall, its a decent place for Asian/Hawaiian cuisine.

I am really surprised this place hasn't been reviewed yet. It's in a small strip mall near a college campus and it has kind of a ecclectic flair to it. It can be a bit hard to find as the store front is dark and black and the lettering is hard to see unless it is broad daylight. You look at the place and you see "Da Pineapple Grill", now what the heck is a pineapple grill? Well as it turns out it is a hawaiian/japanese fusion type restaurant. The inside is rather understated. About 25 tables or so, an ocean front painted on the wall and hawaiian music playing on the speakers. The menu is dominated by a heavy selection of various types of sushi. They also have some unusual salads, grilled fish, sandwiches and so on. I decided on the Volcano Joe as I love the hot stuff, especially wabasi. We also ordered an appetizer plate which featured a variety of tempura fried vegetables and spring rolls. The appetizers came after about 20 minutes and quite frankly, the best phrase I can find for it is "unexciting". Some watery sauces and fried foods. Best part of the plate was the tempura fried sweet potato. That was pretty good eating. The main course came right on the heels of the appetizers. The Volcano Joe has a lot of visual appeal, 20 sushi pieces stuffed with crabmeat and other goodies with a yellow sauce and fried crunchies on top. It didn't taste as exciting as it looked as it did not come with wabasi and ginger. The sauce looked hot, but it tasted like perhaps it was a blend of mayonnaise and chinese mustard. A bit disappointing really. Service was slow. The waitress, while very nice was kind of absent minded as she kept forgetting little things like plates to go with the appetizers and forks for the food. I give them an extra star for being original. I will have to try this place again as they do seem to have a lot of promise, they just fell a bit short on this night.

I ordered the chicken Katsu and it was absolutely terrible. The chicken was dry... The breading had zero flavor and the sauce that usually makes this dish so tasty was disgusting. I'm never going back. And i suggest that you do the same. I don't know how you screw up chicken katsu and the somehow managed to do so.

This is the only place to get fresh sushi in Rexburg and the surrounding area, which makes it an oasis for sushi lovers like me. It features an authentic Hawaiian style menu with many island and Asian dishes. The kalua pig plate, mahi mahi, chicken katsu, pok'e, and curry, are among my favorites. They even have quirky Hawaiian specialties like the moco loco and spam musubi (be brave and try 'em). For me, their diverse and innovative sushi menu is the highlight. While obviously not as fresh as you'd get in a coastal area, the sushi is surprisingly good for a small rural community. Eleena's Specialty roll is worth a try, as is the Kohala Volcano roll. My favorite is the Big Kahuna roll: spicy crab, shrimp, salmon, onion, on the inside of tempura cooked roll which is topped with sashimi and covered in a ponzu and secret sauce. It is so good, my mouth is watering as I type this. Service is usually a little slow, making a quick lunch difficult. It can also be bit pricey for Rexburg (the sushi adds up quickly), but worth it if you long for a taste of the islands.
