Words don't express how happy I was to find this place. I moved from Hawaii to UI for college so the sight of a Hawaiian restaurant in little ol' Moscow made me choke up. When I found out the owner is from Hawaii, I nearly started crying. There was even Hawaiian Sun in their cooler and that's when I considered going to church. Locogrinz' vegetarian meal is very good if that's your preference. I love met but that green curry stew is delicious, cheap and filling. If you like fried children, you'll be happy to know chicken katsu is the same thing, just dipped in breadcrumb. Katsu sauce is different in every restaurant but think if it as shoyu mixed with ketchup: a tad salty, a tad sweet, and the thickness of a spread. The mochiko chicken is fantastic. I don't eat mac salad but I heard it's good from everyone who ate it. The Loco Moco is something people in Hawaii love. It's a hamburger patty, covered in gravy, on a bed of white rice and topped with a sunny-side up egg. I think if they swapped the rice for mashed potatoes, it would be a HUGE hit in Idaho. The owner is an awesome dude who grew up in Hawaii like me. He's very friendly and so is his wife. (Sadly, their names slip my mind right now.) They decorated the place with pictures of Hawaii, which touched my homesick heart on my many visits. I hear they opened a second location in Pullman, which is great news because a lot of Hawaii kids end up at WSU. I wish the owners all the best in all their locations!

Food is alright but place has gone downhill, especially customer service. We were served by a younger guy with black hair who was extremely rude to us. We probably won't be returning.

I always get their Chicken barbecue, and it's just so addictive! Price is affordable and I will always come back to Loco Grinz. They also have a punch card, which is awesome. I just wish that it's less than 10 meals to get a free one.

I'm addicted! The short ribs, noodles and vegetables are my go to plate. The short ribs are sticky and delicious with an incredible sauce. Don't let the front fool you! This lunch spot is incredible. Wish I could go more often.

The bbq chicken and the fries are incredible. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because the service can be pretty slow sometimes.

Worth it! Even though it is the only Hawaiian barbecue option in Moscow, it is good enough that it would be able to operate anywhere. The staff is friendly and will make sure that you are taken care of as well. If you go, try the rib tips, literally the best thing on the menu.

I went to LocoGrinz last weekend and fell in love with everything! This place is AMAZING! I can't believe more people aren't raving about it. Honestly, you're not going to find any Hawaiian BBQ places around Pullman-Moscow that can top LocoGrinz. The customer service also is one of the best! The owner is such a sweetheart. She treated my friend and I as though we were regulars. Aside from talking about how the business started, she talked about herself and actually took the time to learn about us. We had a genuine conversation which is such a rarity nowadays. Of course the food was out of this world! I ordered the Spicy Chicken BBQ with rice and corn. They even had Hawaiian Sun (the best drink ever)! It was the perfect combination of delicious food and impeccable service. You guys and gals just have to go here to understand what I'm talking about. You won't regret it!

I was really excited to eat here because my boyfriend and I are from Hawai'i. We drove all the way from Pullman once, only to find that they were closed despite arriving during the open hours posted on their door. The couple in front of us in line also mentioned this issue to the staff when ordering their food. When we were finally able to try it, we were surprised. It wasn't the best but definitely better than most "Hawaiian"/local places we've tried in the mainland. The katsu in my katsu curry was really crispy and fresh tasting. The interior could use a bit of work to appear less drab but as far as food goes, it was pretty decent. I wish prices were more student friendly since Moscow and Pullman are both college towns plus it's just plate lunch...

I loved all the dishes in this restaurant. The only issue to me was the dishes were too small, which increased the total cost.

I have been there 3 days in a row now! Need I say more than that! The BBQ chicken and beef is the best I've ever had. It will make you wish you were sitting on the beach for real!

I am sad to say that this restaurant was open for years before I finally made it in to try a plate, and OH EM GEE! Talk about delicious! The BBQ chicken is a total foodgasm! And they grill it so it has these amazing and flavorful charred bits, that really make it truly amazing! I could rave about their Mac Salad all day, and still not be able to give it enough praise! It's truly delicious, and like nothing I have ever eaten anywhere else before! The service is always friendly and you never have to wait long for food! I will say the decor is a little tacky, but who goes to a restaurant to look at the walls?!

My order was so fatty I couldn't even eat it. The prices also seemed a little steep for what you got. Not the best food you can find in Moscow.

We were back in town and made sure to eat at LocoGrinz. We always miss the Hawaiian food served here. Their Kalua (pulled pork) pig is exceptional, and this visit was no exception. We also had an order of Kalbi (beef short ribs) which were more expensive than the rest but incredibly tasty (if a tad too fatty for the misses). Finally we always order the noodles. This time the noodles were a bit dry but still spicy and well flavored. Overall if anything I think the main entree's have improved. The meats are delicious and worth trying. The noodles were better in our memories and the salad was served with ranch dressing and not an Asian vinaigrette. But if you like bbq or grilled meats you should do yourself a favor and drive at least 2 hours to eat here, like we did.

Well as much as I appreciate the attempts at being a "Hawaiian Style Plate Lunch" it's my understanding that this place has been around for some years now, and other then some interior decoration they look like they are still getting situated. There was no menu up on the board, and the server quoted us a more expensive price for their little hawaiian sun drink, and that was one of the few things listed on the board they had up! I am a little biased because I am an actual "local" but if you are going to represent, then represent. Locals love RICE, rice is cheap, so I was disappointed that I got one small ice cream scoop size. Locals also have become familiarized with having mac salad with their meals (chicken katsu, kalua pig), so to have to pay extra for this was a little bit of a let down. The food wasn't spot on, but we are on the mainland. The Kalua Pig or shredded pork was a tad to sweet and peppery. The chicken katsu was junk/ fatty chicken and the sauce could have been way better. I have read other reviews about this place having greasy food, and I came away with the same feeling. Unless some things change, for the price and experience, I don't think I will come again.

This was my first visit and boy was I impressed. When we arrived we orded our food at the front counter and had a seat with our party. The staff brought food orders directly to our table as they were ready rather than calling numbers or waiting until everything was finished. I can honestly say the service we experienced on our visit was unbeatable. On top of it all, the food was amazing. I can personally vouch for the BBQ chicken and pulled pig - both of which were bursting with flavor - but my family was fond of the ribs as well. A little on this particular visit: the staff was exceptionally friendly and seemed more than happy to host a large group. We stopped by with a crowd of family after graduation and definitely outstayed our welcome, but we were never asked to leave. They even moved tables to accommodate us and provided some food wrap for our leftover birthday/graduation goodies. Thanks LocoGrinz for your hospitality!!

I haven't been to the new location in Pullman yet, but I've been a fan of the original Moscow site for years. The owners always greet me by name, and it's a great place for ordering some takeout or a quick lunch. I usually order the Loco Moco because a couple of the other dishes I've tried were a bit funky...but their marinated beef and pork and top notch as well. One time I ordered the Loco Moco with scrambled eggs, and the fella working at the counter said they "don't have scrambled eggs." I asked him, "can't you just scramble an egg?" He thought about it and said, "oh yeah." Other than that, the service has always been good.

I can't say I've experienced better (although I'd like to), but I wasn't impressed with their shop in Pullman. The pulled pork was good, if pulled pork can ever be bad. I would never eat their macaroni salad again. I have no idea what was in it, or how long it went without proper refrigeration. The vegetables were bland, overcooked and totally soggy. I think they could improve on this, and maybe be a little more authentic. I highly doubt hawaiian fare wants to be known for soggy carrots and unidentifiable macaroni something-or-rather. I will try the one in Moscow and repost if it's better.

Expect 20 minute wait, at the least. Even if you walk in and no one is there, those of us who know better call ahead. I've yet to find another Hawaiian place as good as Loco, but I'm still looking. I'll detour through here getting to CDA just to hit Loco sometimes since I'm no longer a student. Be sure to go here when the college-ee students aren't working, they do a piss poor job compared to the owners and people who have been there forever. Please, someone teach them the secrets before they ruin the good name of Locogrinz.

This place was pretty much a staple of my college years. The food is a little greasy, but absolutely delicious and unique. Wish there was one of these back home!

Their chicken is awesome and the vegetable medley is amazing (I mean, it's vegetables...and they're somehow delicious ).

Hawaiian plate lunch. Keep lunch-type hours. The food is slow coming, because it's prepared when you order it. I'm fine with that.

A nice, simple, no fringes lunch and dinner spot that makes a fairly authentic Hawaiian plate (or so I've been told from my friends from Hawaii.) There are many protein options that all come dressed up in some kind of Hawaiian/Thai flavor (influenced by the wife of the Hawaiian owner.) There is ample seating reminiscent of a Wendy's, plus a nice TV. The proteins come sided with your choice of rice, corn and/or fried noodles. The noodles are very good, as are all of the meat options I've tried so far. One comment: the "pulled pork" is fairly tasty but extremely dry. Try to get some BBQ sauce thrown on if you want some.

Wait times have gotten much shorter since they opened. Seemed to be in the "Chinese Restaurant" vein, where they started with a non-commercial kitchen and gradually upgraded. The food is incredible and a good bargain. Sometimes I order the 2 entree special and an extra side and split it with my wife to save $3. Ambiance is bad if you're eating in, but has also improved. I'm still in the habit of phoning in my order and grabbing it to-go because the wait used to be much longer.
