I ate here twice in the last three days and it was great! We had really good service both times with a large group. They were very friendly. Also, the food was really good! I am from Central Texas and never expected to find this good of Mexican food here. It is better than a lot of places I go to around my area!

The food was tasty and the service was superb. This place is usually pretty busy, so I think the people complaining about not being seated without their full party are the rude ones. They're just trying to keep wait times down! The taco salad was one of the meatiest I have ever had. Their prices are higher than others in the area, but it was worth it because of the extra meat. The tables are a bit too crammed together for my liking, but that was really my only complaint. Will definitely be back, but probably not until the summer when all the college students leave so the crowd is more manageable. Kudos to Casa for having many high chairs for kids. Better than most places in that regard.

Service is excellent, food is delicious. Portion sizes are fantastic. My girlfriend and I are able to come here and split a Casa Burrito. The bean dip as mentioned is phenomenal, served free with chips at the beginning of your meal. Highly recommended, excellent service, excellent food.

I thought the food was much like the decor, it was tired and old. I would have done better to eat at Taco Time!

Always love 2 for 1 margaritas on Wednesday!

Was brought here while visiting family in Moscow and OMG I fell in love with this place! I ate all the black bean dip! It was that delicious! Everyone in my party loved their food. Two people ordered the chicken enchilada mole and they LOVED it. I had the veggie chimichanga and it was delicious. Veggie chimichangas are hard to come by and so when I saw it on the menu, I had to get it and thank goodness! It was delicious! :) Would definitely come back if I was ever in town again BTW, Wednesday is buy one get one free margarita night!

I liked the decor of this place. It felt open, quirky, and home-y but wasn't too gawdy. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was energetic and it would be a good place to have a dinner with friends or family. There were a few Mexican beers available (my boyfriend stuck to Dos Equis). I was excited for the beans but was disappointed when I tasted them. They weren't flavorless but had a distinct flavor that didn't hit my palette right. The salsa was okay. I got the combo plate with an enchilada and a taco. I was disappointed that the taco was a hardshell taco, not an authentic Mexican soft taco. The food was decent. Part of me was expecting better because of the number of stars on Yelp but part me of didn't get my hopes up too high cause it's Moscow not LA or anything.

This place can have my 5 stars just for it's Wednesday 2 for 1 margaritas. After going here quite frequently while in college, I have yet to find a margarita as good as the blackberry one here. They use a puree/syrup for the flavor that is uniquely soooo good! Staff is generally always local college students and family run. Great management that keeps the place flowing even during their busiest times - and yes, you will wait during their peak times. For being Moscow, it's nice decorated and pretty authentic looking inside! For entrees - I generally get their chicken enchiladas with the beans and rice. Very very filling, big portions and loaded with flavor. Bean dip is awesome. Side notes: * If it's a birthday definitely let them know, you get a nice surprise * Before you are seated, make sure your entire party is there or you will have to wait to be seated * Outdoor seating is awesome during summer * Deep friend ice cream is yum

I haven't been to La Casa Lopez in a few years, and when I went back recently I felt that the quality had really gone downhill. I had a burrito from the lunch menu. I can't remember the exact name of the dish, but it was something like a smothered burrito covered in red sauce. Unfortunately the chicken inside was pretty flavorless, as was the sauce covering it. Everything was just very bland and under-seasoned. The portions were generous and the staff was courteous, but the food lacked flavor.

  • Kathleen S.

Very very good! The portions were big, the food was tasty and delicious, and the vegan eater was able to find something (but don't order the rice because it's made with chicken broth). The service was friendly and thorough and helpful. :)) go here-it's worth it!

I moved away, so it's been four years, but I remembered it being amazing. I came back and had the best chimichanga in my life. I miss this place so much. Come to Boise!

This place is only good for dinner. Lunch is another story. My boyfriend and I decided to grab a late lunch here since it seemed pretty calm and not as busy. BIG MISTAKE. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they came out very dry with very sad looking veggies. It seemed like I was being served leftovers from the previous evening (at the regular $14 price, mind you). Also, I counted 2 tables and 6 waitresses. I agree with a previous reviewer in that the waitresses are far, far too chatty and don't check in on their tables often. It took forever for our waitress to reappear to ask us about our food. When I commented on the fajitas she said she was sorry to hear it, but no offer to fix it, no discount on the poor quality food, nothing to make it right. So overall, bad food and bad wait staff.

After reading the Yelp reviews we were excited for a great Mexican meal outside of Pullman. They did not disappoint. We waited 25 minutes the first night as it was PACKED for mom's weekend. Worth the wait! So good we came back the next night. Our party had the shredded beef taco salad, pollo a la crema, steak fajita burrito, and chicken fajita burrito. Terrific service, great food and drinks. As close to authentic as you can get in this small college town.

My boyfriend and I are Mexican food connoisseurs! We love trying all the local spots. One night after work we decided to order food for pick up. I called and ordered carne asada, I asked if I could get a side of grilled green onions to go with it. The waitress said "Sorry we can't do that! " I decided to scrap the order. The following weekend we decided to eat in. The menu stated the carne asada all ready comes with green onions! What!? Clearly the staff has no idea what is on their menu. So when we dined in, I asked the waitress how it was going? She said "um really busy, it's annoying!" The food was decent but it's clear to me that this place does not have quality staff. Too bad, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Yummy mole enchiladas. Great sangria drinks. Wonderful and friendly servers. Colorful and lively ambiance. I feel right at home here and will keep coming back!

You need to know nothing more than these two important things: 1. Queso Chimichanga 2. Two for One Margarita Wednesday That's it. You can now live my life during the four years I went to college at WSU. Every time we come back to visit I always have to stop here and eat some of the most delicious queso-ey Mexican food I've ever had in my life. Go forth, college students, and head over to Moscow for some La Casa already! Warning: The "Tall" beer basically means a half-gallon stein of doom. Only accept the challenge if you have plenty of time to finish that sucker. Take it from those who have been down that road before... You have been warned.

  • Kayla H.

I wish Casa Lopez was on the westside because I miss it so much. I came here all the time when I went to WSU. The bean dip is PHENOMENAL! I really want to recipe because it is to die for. And if I remember correctly, it's free. I also get a mango margarita on the rocks. Its my favorite and all the margarita's are really good. If you like your marg's on the stronger side, get the Cadillac. My favorite dish on the menu is the taco salad. The shell is amazing and I try to make myself not eat the whole thing. The shredded chicken it in is so moist and flavorful and the veggies are really fresh. I like to get the taco salad so I don't leave feeling like I put a ticking time bomb in my stomach. Seriously the best place ever and I haven't been there in over 3 years...that is how memorable this place is to me. I LOVE YOU CASA LOPEZ!!!

Best Mexican around. AWESOME service every time (we've gone 25+ times and always enjoyed ourselves). The food is SO so good.. The booths are huge and crazy comfy; request one. Beautiful décor and the dining area is huge. It is separated very well so that it doesn't get crazy loud in there. The bean dip (after 3pm) is crazy good.

Oh man, I can't tell you how much I loved this place back in my college days! I ate at La Casa Lopez more than any sit-down restaurant during my years in the 'Scow for a lot of reasons. First of all, it's an excellent place to bring someone for their birthday. The guest of honor gets a free margarita and gets to wear the giant black sombrero that they keep handy. I'm trying to remember if they had a mariachi singer come out with a guitar too but I usually left this place half-hammered. During my last summer there, my friends would meet up at La Casa every Wednesday after work to enjoy the 2-for-1 margarita specials. We had lots of fun just talking story and knocking back icy tequila drinks until the sun went down (which during the summer is WAY later the 6:00 news, I tell ya what). The dishes I recommend most are the chicken fajitas (if you're not clumsy with the skillet), the quesadillas, and an order of bean dip with your complementary chips and salsa. Seriously, the bean dip is a food of legend in Moscow. Anybody who disagrees either never ate there, has bad taste, or hates Mexicans. I'm not saying the bean dip is good enough to convert racists (which are aplenty in Idaho) but it will definitely shut their hateful mouths for a couple minutes. And isn't that what we all really want?

  • Cary L.

The service was great. We arrived right at 6:00 which was good because by 7:00 there was a line. The atmosphere was lively but the extra large booths made it possibly to have a family dinner. Bean dip was great. Burritos were HUGE. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is I would rather pay a little less and have a reasonable size entrée.

    (4)
  • Brooke S.

even if they served me a moldy piece of bread + spoiled milk, i'd be a fan. (but they don't. don't worry) between the atmosphere, the service, and the beeeean dip (that bean dip makes my dreams) this place earns my vote. my family always comes here on our outings and birthdays because we can all find something we like AND they fill up your chips + salsa at record speeds. RECORD SPEEDS, people! also they remember names and faces. or maybe we just go in there too much? perhaps, maybe.

I have been to a large variety of Mexican restaurants in my 21 year lifespan however, this restaurant is pretty average.First of all I went to this restaurant with my grandmother and boyfriend we planned to meet there at 6:30 since my boyfriend got off at 6.My boyfriend was commuting from Pullman to meet us so my grandma and I decided to go in and place our name. When we said we had 3 people and one was on his way.the host and restaurant owner was rude.He rudely claimed he couldn't sit my tired 71 year kld grandma because, it was against the restaurant policy to sit anyone without their full party of people. He said this in a snobbish tone that was very condescending. My grandma drove all the way from Vancouver WA to visit me in Moscow and this is no way to treat a valued customer. The customer service at this place is terrible we had people who came in after us seated down immediately when they had similar circumstances. .... Once we were seated it took forever to get our drink, food and check...When our food came out my boyfriend and I got average quality food and my grandma was served spoiled food.It took the callimg a waitress over to give my grandma new food.

One of the best and most authentic Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. Everything on the menu is very well priced and delicious. But beware, the food plates are huge! I have never left without a to go box. I heartily recommend the Nachos Idaho, the Enchiladas Mexicanas, and the Shredded Beef Chimichanga.

  • Thomas P.

I hear so much about the bean dip I am a little upset that I didn't get it served. I did try their salsa which was nice and spicy but would have liked to tried the dip. I got their mole polo. The mole had a really strong chocolate flavor and it was obvious that the chicken was not cooked together with the sauce (unfortunately) It was just Okay. They do have huge beers if you want to wash it all down with a Mexican beer.

I dined here two nights ago with our granddaughter who is scoping out nearby WSU as a college choice. Our server was a WSU student and patiently answered granddaughter's questions about the school. Having never dined here before granddaughter ordered the La Casa burrito. We could have easily split that. It is enormous, delicious (according to her) and way too large to finish. I had the Chile' Colorado and it may have been the best I've ever had.Perfectly balanced spice and tons of well-prepared meat in savory sauce. The portions are huge, the service is fast, and the place is very noisy. The place was packed and I take that as a good sign.

I had the steak fajita and it was a good portion but the steak was a little too dry and bland. Servers are great. and nice interior decoration.

Always hard to give a one star review, but I'm particularly appalled at the large number of 4 star reviews, so I'm here to provide the voice of reason. This food is NOT. GOOD. Straight up. 4 of us, 4 different things (all VERY different menu items), and none of us were satisfied. Now we are all out of towners, used to quality mexican food, so maybe the standard is just lower here, but I'm rating based on my own standards. The best thing was the chips and watery (but decently flavored) salsa. Everything else tasted like it was from a can or something. And the margaritas tasted like whatever kool aid flavor you wanted with a little booze in it. Bleh. The place is clean, the service is pretty quick friendly, but I can't give above 1 star for the food. Please send the general manager/chef/owner/whoever is in charge to the mission district in San Francisco so he can taste what mexican food is supposed to taste like.

I was going to go to Patti's but they were closed for the winter. I didn't want to eat at Taco bell because they are slow as hell. I was told this was the place to go by a friend. Oh my were they right! I came in sat down at the bar ordered a beer, and a burrito. seconds later I had chips fresh salsa and bean dip, yum yum. Minutes later my burrito came out, oh my it was huge and the steak was cooked perfectly, I was in love. I have been back many times since and had many things the flan is perfect. The staff is super nice, always accommodating. I really can't stop going here it is the best thing going here.

I could have eaten a whole vat of their black bean dip with chips. It had a wonderful smooth and creamy texture along with some punch and crunch from the chopped onion chunks on top. I was very much tempted to lick the plate clean. However, their fish tacos had over-cooked and under-seasoned cod chunks. They were somehow WAY too soupy without adding any extra sauce. Their spinach enchilada was another bleh as it featured (appeared to be) canned and super salty spinach. Why can't they just saute fresh spinach? I must say their service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. (It must get pretty busy as we saw a bunch of waitstaff working there...)

Just delicious, quick and friendly. Good for lunch dinner or drinks. Fun environment and kind and tentative waitresses.

Had two margaritas that were fantastic and a plate of beef fajitas and a plate of carne asada. Both were well proportioned and tasted great! Highly recommend this restaurant! There is a cozy outside eating area with heaters, it was great sitting outside with our meal.

Staff was very nice! Food was below par. Our beans were cremated and all sauces and salsa tasted like if was out of a can.

One of my favorites in Moscow. The Palouse isn't known for great Mexican food, but Casa Lopez is enough to make this former resident of Jalisco happy. The pollo and carne asadas are both wonderful, as is the arroz con pollo. The best part of CL is the friendly staff. They offer great service that comes from the management on down. Highly recommended.

lopez was recommended to us by a couple different folk, so we took a roll on it. located in downtown, we managed to find a spot to park on the street and walked in. we were quickly greeted and seated in the dining room..in this huge booth that would have held 8 people if need be. warning! i ordered a pint and my cohort ordered a tall. his tall was the size of a pitcher! it was huge! it was so big, he struggled to eat his dinner! that said, we both ordered the carne asada and i can say i'm a fan. it was really carmelized on the outside and perfectly done on the inside. it came with tortillas, some rice and beans and a bit of guac. (i wish there was more guac that came with the meal.) the highlight was the restaurant staff...bailey! she continued to tease my cohort on his tall, after he have given me grief about being a wussy on not getting one too. after all was said and done, he couldn't even come close to finishing his. coming from seattle, the prices are great and i will definitely come again.

We ended up here on homecoming weekend for the University of Idaho (we missed that memo or else we would have eaten in Pullman!) and it was PACKED with students and their families. Twice during dinner various tables belted out the University of Idaho fight song - so we had plenty of entertainment. Even though the place was super full, we were still seated immediately and with all the noise, I was still able to hear most of our dinner conversation. The chips, salsa, bean dip, fajitas, and taco salad all received thumbs up from our table. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again the next time we are visint our niece.

This is THE go-to mexican food in moscow-pullman!! Coming from California, I cannot live without my mexican food, and I'm so glad this place is a mere 8 mi drive from where I live! Of course everyone knows about their bean dip, but I also love the la-casa burrito (TIP: order it with sauce on the side, otherwise you literally get a drenched burrito, which is still good when fresh unless you want to pack the rest of that monster baby home, then it just gets soggy). I also really like the enchalada a la diabla - a bit spicy but just how i like it! There's prawns in every bite. Apparently it's also a very popular place for birthday celebrations. Tonight alone within an hour time span, they sang happy birthday in espanol to 5 separate people (not including the birlthday girl I dined with). If you want to embarrass a friend or see him/her in a sombrero, while enjoying a yummy mexican meal, this is the place to be!

  • Sovannary S.

Yummy! Food came out quick and the servers knew what they were doing. Came here with a big group for a birthday and our waitress was on top of it. Gave us chips and salsa right away, got our orders right and then correctly, without hassle, separated all our checks.

  • T L.

The food here is absolutely amazing. Just like every other reviewer has said, the black bean dip that comes with the chips & salsa is to die for, in fact I had them put that in my burrito instead of refried beans (good choice). The atmosphere is great too, very hip, yet still feels like a "Mexican Food Restaurant." The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because our server could have been better. She was nice, but she failed to fill our water when asked and seemed to care more about her friends at the table next to us. Overall, very impressed and will definitely return!

  • The Dude S.

Nice surprise in downtown Moscow. We were passing through, and decided to stop by for a bite. I highly recommend the Colorado Chile (nice smoky flavor), though the chile verde was a little bland (just tomatilloes and pork it seems). Overall, a good value and a good meal. We went with "combos", but I'm sure their specialities are probably excellent as well. Go enjoy some good Tex-Mex.

  • Megan L.

Casa Lopez has something for everyone! Delicious food, the best bean dip I have ever eaten, awesome margaritas, friendly service, and plates so packed with food you leave stuffed! Their menu is very extensive so you can always try something new (although I always end up ordering the 3 mini quesadillas with rice and beans, omg YUM).

  • DJ G.

Best Mexican in the Moscow-Pullman area run by the nicest family ever! Get a mojito, the chicken fajitas and ask for no more. Let the whirlwind of helpful staff, other friendly diners and a great atmosphere take you away. Sit at the bar for a more upbeat atmosphere, or hang out in a booth in the back for a more calm experience. Either way, you can't go wrong. I've never been let down by the Lopez family. Go check it out for yourself!

Astoundingly good with friendly helpful staff! Super fresh salsa and guacamole even a Skinny Margarita if you are watching sugar! Everything we tried was superb. Loved the Pizole soup. This is a find and on a par with really good Mexican restaurants anywhere! Highly recommended.

Great food and 2 for 1 margaritas all day long on Wednesdays! Try the bean dip!

Fish tacos are disgusting; margaritas are cheaply made including top shelf, All of us agreed this place is a no go. I have no Idea how this place got good reviews. On a good note the waitress staff is very nice.

Been here once. Food was not good. Got a burrito and salad fresca with shrimp. Burrito was extremely bland. Shrimp looked weird, tasted bland, rubbery texture. However, Margaritas, service, location, and atmosphere were good. I would say this is a drinking place; eat elsewhere.

  • Scott A.

They seem to have run out of salt. We have eaten here twice and the food has had next to no flavor both times. Tonight i had arroz con pollo and the "chef" left a onion chunk in the dish that was a quartet of the onion. I was told this was normal. We went on buy one get one free Margarita night which may have been a mistake. I would not recommend this place unless you like bad Mexican food.

This place is so delicious! The service is always so good and the beef torta is amazing. My kids love this place too. It makes it so much easier to go to a restaurant when they have a delicious menu for me and my kids.

I visited La Casa Lopez on a Wednesday margarita night and the margaritas were decent for the price, but the food was wretched. I ordered the carne asada and the meat tasted like it should have been thrown out a week ago. The service was mediocre, besides getting water dumped all over myself and the table, from the kitchen area. The server stated that " it happens." I sat through my dinner with half of my body soaked and didn't even receive a consolation prize for participating in their random wet t-shirt contest. In conclusion, I will not attend this establishment again.

Whether you're coming for the authentic mexican food or the wednesday two-for-one margarita specials La Casa Lopez is an outstanding restaurant with a great staff. It is not uncommon to see the owner walking around the restaurant checking in on how things are at each table. Great food, huge portions, amazing drinks, and a festive atmosphere make this location a must see when in Moscow!

  • Allison B.

I've been here a couple of times and this place is quickly becoming my go-to place for sit-down Mexican food. The first time I went there we sat outside and had the misfortune of being sat at a broken table that caused my drink to slide and tip over into my lap. The staff was very prompt about getting the mess cleaned up, getting me a replacement drink and taking the entire thing off my bill. They also have a variety of vegetarian options that are pretty good. The seafood enchiladas are quite good as well. Nothing here is very spicy, but nothing in Pullman is.

  • Sarah C.

We've been here a few times in the past but 2-for-1 Margarita Wednesdays means that my husband and I will be stopping in for lunch every week. I only ever get pollo a la crema from Mexican restaurants and this restaurant has the best plate in Pullman or Moscow. My husband got the camarones con arroz last time and he really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that they don't start the black bean mash for dipping chips until 2:00 but I wasn't terribly heartbroken. Two entrees, 2 margaritas, and a beer ended up being about $30. Fast service and friendly, attentive staff. A staff member walked past as I was putting a sweater on, smiled, then told a waitress to close the back door. It was definitely that extra step that let me know that I was being cared for. Make sure to hang out in the bar! We're also waiting for it to warm up a bit so that we can have lunch outside. Come on, summer!

Make sure to come here on a WEDNESDAY because it's apparently margarita wednesdays! which means you buy a margarita you get a second for free. You also get free chips with a bomb bean dip and salsa. As a group of 4 we split the fiesta sampler (taquitos, cheese quesadillas, some chicken wings, and nachos with guac/sour cream). This was decent and enjoyable. The margaritas are the highlight though. Try the blackberry blended margarita (mmm so good, love blackberries) also try peach or melon on the rocks margarita (also good)

I like my mexican food and for the vast majority of my visits I have enjoyed the family owned Casa Lopez. The Lopez family are extremely wonderful people. The food is pretty good too, especially when you consider the alternatives in town. They have reasonable prices but you can't go wrong with the specials. 2 for 1 Margaritas on Wednesdays are great. The Volcano on Thursday is a fantastic drink for just a few bucks. They have a fajita special every once in a while that is pretty good. Their beans aren't bland, in fact watch out for whole chili peppers. You'll be sorry if you find one on accident and don't realize it till you are chowing down. The service is pretty attentive and the food comes out pretty fast. When we have had issue they have always remedied the problem with a smile. I like that! The carnitas have been hit and miss both in flavor and portions. The Carne Asada has been consistently great and I really enjoy the fajitas. The Polla ala crema was disappointing and very bland- and missing mushrooms. We will go back!

Nice atmosphere, beautiful interior work. Service not quite as good as San Miguels but not bad either. Food was satisfactory. Also gets busy in the evening, but lunch is a good time to go as they also have specials.

Great food, pretty good service, (the hostess we had yesterday was this little blond girl who was fantastic) and portions reflect good value. The salsa and chips are a great way to start, and we plan to go back for Wed specials tomorrow!

For Moscow, ID this more than I had expected to find in the way of Mexican food. Being from Texas, Mexican food is more prevalent at home. The restaurant is along the main strip in town, the decor nice with a quaint patio for outside dining. The chips and salsa were acceptable. Chips were room temp and salsa not very hot but had a good flavor. Chips and salsa were accompanied buy a black bean dip with pico and I can only assume parmesan, however the bean dip can stand on it's own. I ordered simple and safe chicken enchiladas de creama or what we call at home sour cream chicken enchiladas. Not bad at all. I will try something a little more adventurous next time as this place was pleasantly surprising.

Some of the best Carne Asada I've had in the U.S. The margarita was well polluted and the manager even stopped by to check in on us and welcome us to Moscow (our group was out from Seattle). Thank you or the great dining experience!

  • Richard D.

As Mexican restaurants go, this was a pretty decent place. The food was good, service was acceptable and the atmosphere was fine. I had the Alicia's flautas which was unique and flavorful, though is was a little soggy. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

  • Heather N.

I've been to La Casa twice. Once for lunch and once on a Wednesday for buy one get one margaritas. I'd say the food is average. If you order a cheap lunch combo, you get the usual beans, rice and cheese covered generic mexican thing. If you opt to spend a little more on fajitas, or a regular entree, I'd say the quality is better. The margaritas are yummy with several flavors to choose from. Definitely go on a Wednesday.

Best mexican around no question. This place is a higher quality mexican restaurant but the prices are reasonable. The black bean chip dip is great. I really like the casa burrito. This place is also good at accommodating large groups. Food is prompt even when the place is busy. The drinks are good. Totally recommend this place!

I love mexican food and this place did not let me down. The bean dip and salsa were delicious. I ordered the deep fried chimichanga and it was wonderful. The prices were extremely fair for the ginormous portions they give you. Its nicely decorated and the atmosphere is friendly. I would definitely come back for seconds and thirds.

Service was good. Drinks were slightly expensive but good. The food itself was slightly better than the sit-down restaurant fare that I usually have.

This place is pretty good overall, much better than Rancho Viejo in Pullman. We've eaten once in and once to-go. Everything we had was good. My favorite is the pork nachos. Big portion and reasonably priced. The time we ate in we got the sampler platter which I wouldn't recommend. It wasn't bad but the nachos are much better and cheaper. Another plus is that they have XX Amber on tap, yum! I tried the Cadillac margarita which was good for a restaurant margarita. I'm pretty biased though because I make a mean margarita. We went at a very slow time and the service was very good. The one thing I don't really care for is that they use green onion in the salsa and to garnish a lot of the dishes. The only other "Mexican" restaurant I've been to that does that is Taco Bell. Not a big deal and it can probably be substituted for something more appropriate, like cilantro, upon request. Except of course in the salsa, which is a bummer.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
