Don't let the 3 star rating fool you. I liked Ed's as a breakfast place, it just didn't have anything that wowed me or would make me say I need to go back. The pancakes were very good and my wife felt the omelette was very good as well. I had the chicken fried steak and it was NOT home made as I would have hoped. It was a processed/battered chicken fried steak of average size. If you are in that part of town and need to eat breakfast but don't want fast food then I would definitely suggest Ed's. The service was good and the prices were average. Note to parents: They did not have a kids menu so be prepared.

Have been here a few times now for breakfast and its always great. Great portions as well as quality food. I really hate to write this review because I love that I can walk in almost anytime and be directly seated but ... to be fair to the restaurant, they deserve it. :) Daily specials are always great!

Food is always good some staff members are slower then others but not bad. We go for lunch when we are out there sometimes. Other family members go all the time. Good food at good prices can't complain.

I absolutely loved this place. I went here after a failed trip to Eagle Island during one of Boise's grand rain torrents and this diner cheered me right up! The food was amazing - seriously, the plate-sized pancake is a wonder. So so good! The coffee was great, and staff was sweet and filled coffee cups promptly. And plus, the walls are decorated with great '50s everything! Marilyn Monroe portraits, Elvis, records everywhere. So fun. It's a pretty small restaurant, but worth it in the authentic '50s vibe. I'll definitely return.

I had a great lunch at Ed's 50 Cafe. I had a regular hamburger fries and a large chocolate shake. The prices are very reasonable. Food was delicious and the server was friendly and attentive. The photos of old Hollywood and classic cars on the walls are so fun to look at. I do recommend Ed's and I will be back.
