The view is stunning but the food is abysmal. It seemed like everything came out of a can, other than the iceberg lettuce. It could be really nice with that setting on the lake. Service was really fast, but that could be because the food was mass produced.

Went up during the ice festival with the family and decided on Chapalas. Although it was much too cold to sit out on the beautiful patio we sat right inside still with a great view of the beautiful frozen, snow covered lake. Service was fairly good, although all the waitstaff had really broken English and it was a bit difficult to understand when we were trying to order. Would for sure return at another time.

I think the fact Chapala was empty - really - on a Friday night says a lot. We drifted over there because other restaurants were packed and we were hungry. The good. The waiter recommended a pitcher of margaritas to save us money. The average. The margaritas were clearly from a sweet sticky syrup - the kind you get anywhere that's focused on turning out drinks, and not quality. The food was slightly above average with good ingredients, but wasn't spectacular. The bad. After the drinks were delivered, the waiter went over and stood by the bat for about 10 minutes before coming back to get our food order. While we were ordering, we explained who was on which check. At the end of the meal one check arrived. As we paid the waiter complained that we didn't tell him there was more than one check. If it had been a busy night I might have been flexible but there was nothing better for him to do than split out checks like we asked in the first place.

Ok, so I will be the first to admit that, under normal circumstances, I would only rate this restaurant a three but my dinning experience was so good I just had to give them an extra star! My wife, two kids, four and one, and I went here for dinner around 6 pm so not necessarily off hours and there was plenty of staff to properly manage the customers. All the staff was involved with each table and were more than just server's but tried their best to create conservation and interact with the customers. There were many customers that knew the staff by name and vice versa. It made for quite a comfortable setting. The menu was quite extensive with everything form traditional Mexican food to american style Mexican food. I ordered the pollo chapala as I am a sucker for ordering dish's named after a restaurant.....they are usually not the worst item on the menu if you know what I mean. The pollo was still juicy and the sauce was nice and sweet. They corn tortillas were so hot and moist I had to toss them back and fourth in my hands to cool them off, and not over cooked might I add. I almost forgot, before our meals were delivered we were served some wonderful chips with bean dip and salsa. I think we went through two baskets of chips. All in all, it was a great dinning experience and one that I will remember for quite some time. Thank you to the staff of Chapala for such a great time!

Great view of lake! Ate outside on patio. Food tasty, quickly prepared and servers courteous. Would definitely come back.

This place got a star for the view- I wish this place would close down so another place can utilize the space. I didn't think it was possible to make a bad taco, I was wrong! My hard shell taco became a soggy mess before my second bite- unbelievable! Service was slow because they were so busy.

The food is very good, and the beautiful view of water is to die for. I love the customers here, and the staff can speak Spanish fluently. I would say to anyone you must eat here.

Went to Chapalas, McCall. No one inside restaurant sign said "wait to be seated" we waited no one showed up so we seated ourselves out on deck. Waiter showed up & took care of everyone around us, then he seated a couple with menus & chips & salsa. We asked " are you going to serve us?" He said no, you didn't wait to be seated. So we left, found out better Mexican food near Brundage Inn. Don't bother with poor service at Chapalas it sucked Craig

Just not very good. The food was over cheesed and nothing special, salsa was OK. The view was nice, much better than the service which was just adequate and not especially warm. Would never eat here again but would go the Pueblo Lindo which was much better.

The food was bland, generic and tastless. Service was awful. It took so long to get just a straw that one of the family members had to walk behind the bar and take one. After an hour our food came out it was wrong. Wrong food and we were one of only two tables. Was the food for the other table? Nope. Getting the check took another hour in a resturant with now 5 tables full of people and 3 servers. We couldn't wait any longer and just left money on the table. When we finally saw or server he was chasing us down and talking on the phone at the same time. Was he chasing us down to apologize? Nope, to make sure we paid our check. I guess when you run the only mexican restaurant in town you don't have to try.

The Good: Waiter was friendly, and polite. The Bad (or where continued training would help this business): My only order of Tortilla Soup was forgotten. After a 20 minute wait, the manager asked how things were. "Not good, I have not received my soup." The soup came promptly. The soup was bland and oily. If you like weak tomato broth with chips, avocado and melted cheese, you'd be happy. Waiter then asked if I liked my soup that had been sitting for sitting, uneaten for 25 minutes. "No, I did not like the soup." He took the bowl and brought the check, with a charge for the soup (not the manager as a proper action would demand). I took the check to the cashier and asked to speak to the manager. After several minutes, he broke away from a table he was busy chatting with other patrons. The Good: He listen politely and took the critique well. The check for me and my friend was dismissed. Epilogue: The alternate meal was a day old roasted turkey leg from a market down the street. It was tiny better.

Very friendly staff but overpriced and low quality. I appreciated the friendliness of the waiters and they seemed genuinely glad to have you there. The food just wasn't impressive at all. The refried beans they give you to start out the meal are exceptionally bland. The salsa was very good though. I ordered the Burrito Mexicano and it was pretty good, but nothing too great. They put rice and beans in the burrito, and then you get rice and beans on the side. So that seemed kind of redundant but that's okay. The shredded beef inside the burrito was VERY flavorful and good, but I had to extract a very large vein that was pretty disgusting.

Every time we come here the food is good, service is great. Chips are excellent so is the salsa. And of course the beer is always good and cold.

Been here a couple of times and the experience is almost always the same. The service is okay. They're really friendly and fast but they usually get one thing wrong. The food is good considering it's not the typical American food McCall has. Oh and their refried beans are delicious!

Stopped in on a Tuesday after Memorial Day, the town and the restaurant were almost empty but there was a full staff on shift. Fast service and a table with a great view. I skipped the usual lunch menu and went for the Sopitos. The food was delicious and the service was prompt and attentive.

Also recommend the fantastic fresh tortilla chips !! Best this side of Cheyenne. And the shredded beef 2 enchiladas!! Muchas Gracias, Amigo!!

We saw this place and it's deck with a view of the lake and thought we should come back later around happy hour and try some margaritas. We arrived at 4:30 and found their dinning room empty. I asked if they had a happy hour and was told no, just a beer special. I asked if we could sit out on the patio and was asked if we were going to eat dinner. I said we wanted to start with some margaritas and might get some food. I was told in broken English that the patio was only for those eating "full dinner". I looked at the patio and saw about 5 occupied tables and then counted 12 empty tables, and I couldn't see the whole patio. I asked him if he was expecting some huge dinner rush at 430 on a Tuesday. He then said ok you can sit outside. I said no thanks and we left. What a joke of a place. The place is practically empty and he's put off by us asking if there is a happy hour? What Mexican place doesn't have a happy hour? With such an empty place his response should have been "you can sit wherever you like". And to clarify, this place is located at 317 e lake st, above Red Pavilion Chinese restaurant.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
