Very good burgers & onion rings. Burger's so big though that we split 2 between 6 people!

No B.S. here. Simple, big, delicious burgers, fries, onion rings (to die for)! Prices are very fair if you can appreciate great quality food. We rarely "go out" for burgers, and when we dine out, I appreciate food I can't make at home...and I'm a good cook. Compared to Effie's, everything just seems like fast food. You can get fancier burgers at some local places, but this is the most incredible, purist burger around. I did boycott them when they had the genius plan to get rid of fry sauce (stupid, stupid), but they learned their lesson and brought it back.

Large portion Mom and Pop kind of place. I had the double. Fluffy face sized buns, 2 lbs of local ground beef, and piled high with fresh veggies. We went in on a Thursday evening, and there was one waitress running around. Their menu can fit on the back of a post-it note, so the decision making process didn't take too long. This place is a dive with friendly people and a large flat top. The only sad part about this place was that there was no Effie Tavern Challenge like you see on the TV shows. I killed a 2 pounder, super seasoned fries (Next time I'm up here, it's tots for me), Mountain Dew, a beer, and 2 glasses of water.

A hole in the wall that lives up to its name, unfortunately. I just wanted a good burger. If there is one in Lewiston, I haven't found it yet. First off, I told the waitress it was my first time in so I didn't know what to order. Instead of helping me figure it out, she got all huffy and told me she'd come back when I figured it out. Granted, she was busy, but that's no excuse for bad customer service. Decided on the half Cheeseburger after seeing how massive the whole thing was. It did not look appetizing. And, surprise surprise, it wasn't. The Flavor was weird and I contemplated whether each bite was worth it. It ended up giving me acid reflux and really upsetting my stomach. So what is all the rage about this place? Slow service, terrible food, and rude servers. A triple threat. Stay away!

Small family owned place with friendly staff. Nothing too fancy. Just freshly made GIANT hamburgers.

Huge burger from a cozy, diner/bar near historic downtown Lewiston. We went here many years ago for dinner right before Hot August Nights started up. Great local hang out to relax in with no fuss food and beer!

Effie burger will feed 4 normal people, they'll even put cheese on only half if you have an "anti cheese" person. You can hear them "slamming" the patties into shape as they prep. "WHOMP." Lol. You know at least the burgers are prepared fresh. I wish they had fresh fries instead of frozen but the onion rings are good & seem home made. No free soda refills as they use cans.

Burgers are huge n goooood! It takes a while to cook a patty that big to perfection, so if its busy it takes a bit to get your burger, but well worth the wait. Oh n small fries are huge too!

Yah, so what that the decor is '70s dive and half the ads on the wall are about Coors. Their hamburger is as big as your face! Great value, awesome hamburgers and very nice staff. Total thumbs up.

Want a honkin' sized burger-photo that will give you the best Facebook status update ever??? Then Effie's is it. The place itself is unassuming, older and comfy, so atmosphere snobs should just stay away or plan on not complaining - just deal with it. (think of it as a 1950's diner-time-capsule) Besides huge burgers that measure easily 10-12" in diameter - they taste pretty darn good, too. Not the best burger in the world, but respectably good - they exceeded my expectations. Cooked fresh, and craftid with artison love (we sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the grill cook do his thing) its clear there's a lot of pride put into each and every burger. You can also order 1/2 burgers for those that still want a huge meal, but not the full experience. Burgers can be ordered with single or double patties (warning, am guessing each burger pattie has a good 1-2 poundsof beef in it) - buns tasted great, too - perfectly toasted and fresh. Effies is packed with local villagers, many who seemed to know the waitstaff well - clearly frequent loyalists. Effies offer onion rings, fries, and the hard to find fried gizzards (love those things!!!). Good luck - plan to go in hungry, you'll definatley come out full.

We had their Effie burger not sure of size but think it was a one pounder. It is around 8 inches across. We spilt it, was still to much for the two of us. Nothing to spectacular but ok. Coke comes in cans. Hot coke out of can into ice just creates a flat coke. A dispenser would be better. We would not go out of our way to go but might go back next time we are in Lewiston.

I just moved to the valley and my buddy was raving about this place. I am a foodie, so I was super stoked to try this place that sounded like it was straight off the food channel on one of those hole-in-the-wall shows. When I walked in, I was immediately stoked by the old-school decorations and furniture and honkey-tonk tunes. Skip to the food... This burger is enormous. It is legendary. I figured it would be a fun novelty, but its only $10 for a massive burger that 4 people can split. That's simple economics. The thing is... this BURGER IS THE BOMB!!! Cheap, fun, delicious, friendly service, not crowded... #WINNING! Go here.

Effie Burger. Burger's all they do, and they are the best. Whenever I go to Lewiston that's where I eat. The meat is the star here- no fancy add-ons to hide a mediocre burger- slightly steak-y but tender. They get it fresh from a local meat cutter. Also you get whole leaf iceberg lettuce, not shredded or some designer bs. The only drawback here is no hand cut fries (which btw I understand are a pain to cut then double fry but I would pay a premium for!) just frozen undesirables- I opt for the tots which are cooked Idaho style real crispy and served with fry sauce.

Well, my husband & I were very excited to try this place for what we had heard were great burgers: we're always looking for our next diner, drive-in, or dive when we travel. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed here. Not only were the novelty, giant size burgers not very flavorful, but the giant size bad attitude of our server was a huge turn off! I think her scowling and impatience was supposed to be part of the dive experience, but she just took it too far. As well, we had to wait about 40 minutes for those big, run of the mill burgers.
