    We finally made it back into town and went for dinner at Kibrom's tonight. Big L and I each ordered the three item platter, and we each got different things. The doro wat was delicious! The injera was tasty. Nothing is too spicy, and everything tastes RIGHT. The food arrived really quickly--I guess we were used to the long wait at our fave Ethiopian place in Calif : ) Everyone was very nice, and the International Marketplace is full of interesting things. Already looking forward to coming back to try more. We're so glad Kibrom's is in the Treasure Valley!

    We came for lunch and it was bustling. The dining area is rather small but we were able to find an open table. It is shared space with a few other international food vendors, so great for a night out with a group so everyone can pick what they want to try. There are about five meat selection and five vegetarian selections, or you can pick a combination. Everything comes with salad and injera and is freshly prepared. I enjoyed my selection of vegetarian options, but my one suggestion for improvement would be to heat the injera before serving. It came out cold and quickly brought down the temperature of the sauces on top. One huge pro was that the food came out quite quickly, making it a great option for a fast lunch.

    I don't have a huge basis for comparison of Ethiopian food, but I know what I like and I like like like Kibrom's! If you haven't had Ethiopian/Eritrean food, you are in for a treat. You can go as meaty or as vegan and as spicy or not-spicy as you like with this cuisine. All is served on a pancake-like bread - injera - it is sour dough so prepare your taste buds accordingly. It's just yummy, wish I could give more helpful descriptions, you just have to try it!

    I really love what is going on with the Boise World Market. What a great concept and I hope it is very successful. It's nice to see diversity in the local cuisine without it being from a food truck. I don't want to be overly critical about this restaurant but the food wasn't quite the quality of other Ethiopian restaurants I have been to. The injera was good but didn't have flavor that I have enjoyed previously. It didn't quite have the "sour" flavor injera is known for. Maybe not enough yeast or fermentation? The Derho and Red Ades had really good flavor but the white tips was a disappointment. The meat was chewy. One thing I noticed was how they are keeping the food in the steam table prevents it from staying hot. They weren't filling the steam table so all of the heat was escaping and only the bottom of the pans were staying hot.

    The injera was solid and had the traditional sourdough tang, although not as tangy as say Dutch Oven's sourdough pancakes. I had the Red Tibs which was spicy beef and it was excellent and not too spicy. The people working were super helpful and wanted you to understand exactly what you were ordering and even made sure you knew how to eat with the injera.

    So glad that Boise has such a unique restaurant. A refreshing taste of culture. The food was delicious - my friend and I selected two vegetarian entrees and one meat entree (all of which the employee at the counter recommended), which were all served atop a flat bread. We used our fingers to tear off pieces of the bread and then grab onto each entree with the bread. A fun experience. My favorite entree was the red lentil - so much flavor! I can't recall exactly what we paid, but it was cheap. I highly recommend Kibrom's. At least try it for the experience!

    For a tiny stall located in a tiny mall, Kibrom's is kicking out enormous flavor and outstanding service. Nevermind that we'd never tried Ethiopian food; Kibrom and his lovely wife were happy to explain dishes, flavors and etiquette of this fine culinary tradition. The flavors found at this stall were out of control and much more dynamic than we had anticipated. Start by selecting from a number of dishes; typically, stewed meats and veggies that, for a lack of a better term, I will call curries. Lamb, beef, chicken, kale, potatoes, lentils, chick peas, your typical staples. These are wonderfully flavored with berbere and even their hottest dishes were pretty accessible to those of us with milder palettes. I tried the red tibs (made from lamb), the chicken dehro (served with a hard-boiled egg), and I sadly cannot remember the name of my last dish, stewed kale with potatoes and garlic. As I've mentioned before, the flavors were so dynamic and vibrant. Each dish, no matter what you order, comes with bottomless injera (a fermented, spongy, sourdough pancake), which actually serves as a plate and stew-absorber, and salad, which is mild but amazing. Honorable mention goes to the avocado juice, sort of a smoothie, that was delightfully sweet and nutty without tasting like a milk shake. I know you're already reluctant to try it, so put yourself out there and GET ONE! This was an awesome experience with great customer service. The owners are totally sweet and accommodating. I didn't give it five stars, because I'd like to try it out a few more times (and I have no other exposure to Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine).

    Full disclosure: I don't have a lot of experience with Ethiopian food. I've had it a few times when I was living in Atlanta because I had friends and roommates who loved it, but I could never get past my disdain for injera. Kibrom's has single handedly changed my opinion on injera and Ethiopian food. My husband and I tried the Alicha with beef and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned and very complimentary with the injera, with a bit of spice (until you get a piece of jalapeño, yum!!). Looking forward to trying more items on their menu, thanks for the great food!!

    Hey, a buddy & I have been talking about hitting this place for a few weeks. It's in a new International Market that has several small food kiosks and a general sitting area. The overall market is a work in progress. The food from Express Cafe was outstanding. I wasn't sure what to order so Kirbom gave me samples. I went with a spicy meat combo with some sort of spongy flat bread. He didn't give me any utensils and told me to eat it with my hands and I was a little unsure of the "proper" way to eat this stuff. I was about 30% finished when I dining partner told me to wrap the spicy meat up into the spongy flat bread. That was dang awesome once I got the hang of it & a lot less messy. They probably ought to put up a picture showing the proper way to consume that stuff. That's not a complaint as much as it is commentary on my limited understanding of the cultural eating habits. I wouldn't think twice about going back here. This is not fancy, not at all. You'll have the choice of at least two different types of foods from the kiosks. There may have been a 3rd, I can't recall. There is also a kiosk serving coffees, teas, & other drinks. This place is good, boys & girls. If you want diverse food choices in Boise, you need to go.

    If anyone needs examples of why Boise needs more places like the International Market, they need look no further than Kibrom's restaurant. Like many locals, Kibrom's has been my first experience with Ethiopian food and I cannot get enough of it. On my last visit, I tried the Zigni, Red Tibs, and Shiro dishes, paired with the injera that Kibrom makes in house. All three selections were excellent. The Red Tibs and Zigni are both variations of a beef curry sort of dish, the prior being more of a smooth sauce and the latter being more chunky. Both dishes have a little bit of a kick to them in terms of spice but it shouldn't be anything that people used to eating Indian cuisine are not used to. Kibrom told me that he has to tone down the dishes compared to the spice level he likes in order to satisfy the local palette so I am somewhat curious as to how spicy Kibrom makes this stuff when cooking for himself and his family. I tend to like spicy food and I did not find the spice level in these dishes to be overbearing at all, though some other diners complained the food was too hot. Kibrom takes care to alert people to some of his hotter dishes so I am not sure what those customers were expecting when they ordered. The Shiro was a great compliment to my meat dishes. Shiro is a sauce that combines chickpeas and spices into a smooth blend of awesomeness that goes very well in contrast to some of the spicy meat dishes. I strongly suggest it. All of the food comes paired with injera which is a dense, spongy sour dough bread that does a great job of soaking up juices from the main course. It is almost like a flavorful dense pancake that is used in a similar manner to naan. My only advice here is to eat the injera knowing that it is very dense and will fill you up quickly. I asked for seconds on one visit and found myself absolutely stuffed. Injera is dense! Kibrom also serves up the best beef samosas I have ever tasted. Seriously, if you just want a hearty and savory snack, get a couple of these guys. They are amazing. Like Kibrom himself, the food is very accessible. If you aren't sure what to order, just ask, Kibrom will gladly help you out. Based on my visits there, whatever you end up choosing, you will be satisfied and left wanting more.

    My friend and I had a hankering for Ethiopian food, so we stopped by Kibrom's at the Boise International Market for dinner. Why got a 3 item combo, with beef wat, chicken wat, and a lentil dish. The food came on a big round piece of injera with a salad. The beef wat was fantastic: spicy and oily with the complex berebere flavor that I love. The other two dishes were alright: the beef dish came with a drumstick and an egg, but it was more mild and less flavorful than the beef wat. Same with the lentils. I stuck with the beef wat, salad and some injera, while my friend finished off the rest of the food. We were both full, not bad for ~$5 each. I'd definitely come back for some more beef wat, and maybe to try some of the other dishes in this well-priced combo meal.

    Kibrom's is excellent. My family and I drive 2 hours to enjoy the amazing gluten-free options. It is delicious and the spices are not over powering. The flat bread can be made gluten free which is wonderful. The prices are more than reasonable. More importantly the owners and staff are are kind and truly care about their food. It is a small place that packs a lot of delicious options. Thank you so much for being such a great restaurant!

    Amazing food! I've never seen anything like Kibrom's in Boise before. This place has a lot of hype right now and it is well worth it. The owner was taking orders and is very friendly. I got the 5 piece combination, to try out as many items as I could. It was filling and everything was delicious. The Red Tibs were amazing!     I went to Kibrom's Restaurant for Sunday dinner with my family and friends and was very satisfied by the delicious selection of food that i found there. We came in as a big group and they were able to accommodate us with ease. I loved the spicy red beef sauce and the cabbage and potato mix. The engera (spongy bread) was soft and delicious. I can't wait to go back there again and try more things on the menu.

    Ladies and Gents--I am happy to announce that legit Ethiopian has arrived in Boise! Not familiar with Ethiopian? Not surprising as Boise hasn't had any Ethiopian options until now. Don't be intimidated, however. The proprietor is completely friendly, helpful and lovely. When my dining companion seemed a little flummoxed as to what to order, he explained everything and even allowed us a forkful of certain dishes to see if they were too spicy for our tastes. He also recommended the amount in which we should order for our party of 3 (as it's done family style and we just weren't sure). We ordered a couple of meat selections and a couple of vegan selections. I was surprised to find that I actually enjoyed the Red Ades (red lentils, onion, carrot, and spices) and Alicha (potato, cabbage, and onions flavored with Chile and alicha spice) better than I did the two meat selections we ordered. The dishes are served on injera, which is a spongey flat bread that's flavor is reminiscent of sourdough (though not alike in texture at all). The only thing I didn't care for was that my injera was quite cold (which someone else mentioned). I'm told, it's pretty amazing when hot off the griddle. But, is traditionally served either warm or cold (room temperature). You simply tear off a bit of injera, put a little Alicha (or whatever dish you've ordered) on it and eat it. They'll give you forks if you ask for them--but it is traditionally eaten with your hands--so, just go for it! Get in there! When in Rome, people....when in Rome (or Ethiopian inspired eatery--as the case may be). Get to it!

    When my girlfriend told me there was a new Ethiopian restaurant in Boise, I nearly lost my mind. Ethiopian is my favorite and this place does not disappoint at all! The food is great and the small-business nature of the place is wonderful, the owners are very friendly and the food is authentically prepared, this has become my new favorite place!

    There is nothing like having food prepared straight from the hands of an expert. The Ethiopian food served here is made by East African refugees who put their heart and soul into every dish. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is also impeccable. Everyone behind the counter always has a big smile and even remember our names. We love going back week after week!

    Dose yourself into some culture and try Kimbrom's, at least once...5-7 Servings of Ethiopian Veggies/Meat Dishes on top of a pancake-like bread. You would eat with your hands, culturally, but with the look of the atmosphere of the place, I would highly recommend not to. It is very filling and the price is inexpensive for what you get. For me, it wasn't something I would crave and go back to try again, because the flavor was bland to me. However I would recommend to anyone who is looking for something new to try to check it out. Worth the test!

    Went on a date night and stopped here for dinner before the movie. The owner was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and the food was great! We had tried Eritrean/Ethiopian food once before and loved it and were so excited to find out we could finally get have it in Boise, too.     Kibrom's is without a doubt one of best new places to enjoy lunch or dinner! If you love new dining experiences, friendly faces and a little spice, you must try Kibrom's! I have many favorites but I really love the hamili kelwa and lentils! Oh and the samosas... Delic!

    This place is excellent. Very unique place. They offer a five item platter for a very reasonable price so you can try many different dishes. The food was high quality and delicious. They have spicy and non-spicy and the spicy food is not all that spicy which suited me just fine. The owners were very friendly and eager to please.

    I'm telling all of Boise that the International Market on Franklin is where lunch is happening these days. Popped in again today for some good food and tried Kibroms injera for the first time. SO LEGIT!! The lamb or #1 is to die for...such amazing flavors. Although I'm not gluten intolerant or have Celiac's, all the food is GLUTEN FREE. This will definitely be a staple lunch item in the future for me. GO INTERNATIONAL MARKET!!!

    So happy that Boise finally has Ethiopian food. If you've never tried Ethiopian you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Nothing fancy about the dining area but the food is so good you won't care. Ate here on 1/17/15. The place was packed. Kibrom's serves the usual selections you will find at other Ethiopian restaurants. Many choices for meat eaters and vegetarians both. Served on delicious injera bread, of course. Can't wait to go back.

    My family and I have been going to Kibrom's pretty much weekly since it opened. The food is tasty, inexpensive, and very authentic. The operation is bare bones and sometimes there are some hiccups with service. However, Kibrom is a great guy and is very open about asking for suggestions and criticisms to improve the food and the experience. Overwhelmingly we've had excellent meals at Kibrom's and will keep coming back.
