Yum...Homemade cookies and cream ice cream- you can't give that anything less than five stars! I wish we had more time to spend in Goody's, but I know my waistline is very happy with the limited time I had- just enough to choose between coffee and cookies and cream, and not enough to decide between the case-full of fudge and other mouth-watering confections. The only thing that was missing was the lanky man behind the counter (although the teenage girl was very pleasant) singing and pouring candies into my outstretched hands.

What I Like......decent selection of candy and ice cream, great location in Old Boise, great decor and friendly staff What I don't like.......WAY TOO EXPENSIVE , no toffee candies

We'd driven by a million times and always seen a bunch of families hangout and enjoying some ice cream outside so we thought we'd give it a try. It was just before closing so it was pretty empty but the store itself was pretty fun. It's full of toys and trinkets for sale while still giving an old soda fountain/ice cream parlor feel. We got the single sundae in a waffle cone. It was great! My wife and I both loved the hot fudge. We asked for some more in a cup and they were happy to fill out fix. It's not a new age ice cream store full of crazy favors. However, it's all about the classics there (sundaes, floats, splits mixed with all the toppings you would want). Overall it was a very good sundae in a great old fashioned feeling ice cream shop.

I'm a Californian and I was visiting my family up in Idaho for the weekend and we took a trip into Boise for the day. We wanted ice cream (yes, in 30 degree weather) so I whipped out my iPhone and checked the places in the area. I am so lucky I found this place! I love the old fashion atmosphere and it is super clean too. When you walk in, it smells of waffle cones. So many choices don't know what to order? Let me help! 1. Coca-Cola to drink...they hand mix it so it is super syrup-ey 2. Hot fudge Sunday, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry in a waffle cone bowl THIS IS THE BEST ICE CREAM SUNDAY I HAVE EVER HAD. I'm back in Cali and I can still taste the cold ice cream with the hot fudge mixed in and the bite of the freshly made waffle cone. They have sooo much home made candys to choose from, but I was so full from my "single scoop" (it is large) candy didn't sound good after that. I really wanted to try their chocolate covered potato chips, so next time I go visit my family, that will be on my to-do after my Hot Fudge Sunday!

Great place, super friendly staff, clean store and awesome tasting sweets! Got a box of caramel corn (second best caramel corn I've even had... and I've had a lot) and some candy rocks. Both treats were delicious. Little bit pricey, but you're getting quality confections, not some grocery store stuff. Say outside listening to some live music in their seating area. Great little place!

We recently moved to Boise and decided we wanted to explore by finding the best and funnest dessert places the Treasure Valley has to offer. Goody's was just like the other reviews said -- a heavy dose of nostaligia. I loved the old time look and feel of the place. The staff was running the entire time, definitely too busy to do more than fill orders, but one of the girls offered waters. The ice cream was terrific, I always get chocolate and it didn't disappoint. The Waffle cones met my high standard. My husband got the tiger's blood icecream. It was fantastic. I'll be going back to take advantage of some of their all natural chocolates.

In defense of Goody's pricey menu, I would like to say that you are really paying for an experience. With that said, this summer I bought $25 worth the ice cream (coconut -- which is amazing with their homemade waffle dish) just for little 'ole me one sunny day. Bar none, the best coconut ice cream ever -- food porn good. Somebody has to get a photo of this place on a weekend night. It just glows among the rows of trees and other little shops surrounding it. Can't wait for some early softball games next summer, so we can go to Goody's afterwards. P.S. Their caramel corn is also the best caramel corn I have ever had. Note, do not sneak into a movie unless you want to be the last one leaving the theatre still fast asleep from your food coma.

  • Tamra M.

I looove goody's, BUT their scoops of ice cream are so TINY for the $4 you pay for a single scoop cone!! They need to step it up in that regard! Technically I could get the same great tasting ice cream at Ben and Jerry's and get more for my money. Just sayin'..

Average taste for high price. Sees candy at the mall is better and cold Stone too. Long lines to wait for food. Understaffed and the staff look tired of serving the never ending line of customers. My opinion is that this place is all hype. But I've heard good things about caramel corn so I'll go back and give an update. But for now, it's a 3 star.

Loved the location and ambience of Hyde Park. I had an oreo milkshake that was pretty underwhelming for $5.

Very cute soda fountain style candy shop with ice cream and coffee. Great place to take the kids for a special treat. My favorite is the Affogato, ice cream mixed with espresso.

First of all - LOVE THIS PLACE. When I was looking for ice cream places on Yelp (few weeks back), this came up and I thought of giving it a try. I am so glad I did. So far, this is the best ice cream that I have ever had!! The first time we went, there was a small band playing music outside ( I do not know the schedule) and the place is ALWAYS packed. I have been here 4-5 times so far and I always order something different. Ice creams (homemade) : they have good number of everyday flavors (chocolate almond, Oreo .. Etc) and a few alternating flavors (I have had lemon and orangesickle). Lemon and orangesickle - very dreamy flavors, they taste fresh and have soft texture-- addicted to orangesickle. They can put you on a call list for any favorite alternating flavor. In all, their ice creams are so creamy and I will keep going back to try something new. They also have a few flavors of sorbet. Cones: I have had bad experience with ice cream cones but I wanted to try their 'homemade cone'. Its safe to say they have the most delicious homemade cones. Shakes: very creamy, thick and tasty! Chocolates: they have wide variety of them but I am yet to try any. And their whip cream is homemade as well.... So never say no to that whip cream. They have soda floats, frozen banana, sundaes, shakes & Malts, Italian sodas , etc ( check out their menu) Staff: friendly, quick and helpful. Long lines to order : yes ( most of the time I have been there) Is it worth it: YES!! I am surprised that I found this place now, I have been in and out of Boise for over 2 years. I absolutely recommend checking this place out. I go here at least once a week...Oh what the hell, I am heading there now.

I would come here every day if I lived in Boise. Fresh ice cream, popcorn, chocolate, and candy...what more could you want?! Everyone was super friendly and seemed genuinely excited about the products in their store - which is always a good sign. I can think of no where else where they make their own ice cream using real, simple ingredients. I have a huge soft spot for fresh waffle cones, too, so this was a real treat for me. They have something really special going on here. Don't gripe about the wait, either. Instead, relax and enjoy the fabulous smells and happy people.

Here for a gift I was wanting to buy for someone. But didn't get any help with the front desk. Probably they were too busy and there was a long line.

    (3)
  • Alison L.

Love the product (Ice Cream), but not so fond of the long lines and the slow service! The line on the night we went wrapped around the store and then extended outside. But even one you order, you still have to wait for your name to be called to receive your ice cream. I was surprised that 2 scoops of ice cream in a cone would take longer than 20 minutes after I've ordered and paid!.

  • Gabriela G.

It's such a cute place and staff is very friendly. I felt like a kid in a candy store! They make a lot of their products in store. Carmel popcorn and ice cream is amazing.

Great local joint. Smells wonderful in there with all the candy and ice cream. Great spot for a meet up on a hot summer day. Awesome patio seating. Bring a date for some sweets.

  • Jenn P.

The servers was very helpful and nice. They let you taste any flavors you wanted before selecting. I had the toasted coconut and it was fabulous! Also, I'm going back today for more caramel corn. It's probably the best I've had in 30 years! Yummo!

amazing place! Takes you back to yesteryear! Great ice cream and its a candy shop as well...I haven't tried the candy yet though :) You'll love it!

We are here visiting and saw this on yelp had to try it. Such a cute place inside. Ice cream was good, would definitely try again. Love the old school feel and look.

Important: Pace yourself! My fiance went for the ice cream, I went for the hot cocoa. Mmmmm. Both were delicious. So delicious that you should remind yourself to intake all that sugary, rich, deliciousness slowly...

  • Kathryn C.

Lots of kinds of candies and homemade chocolate treats, ice creams, and fountain sodas. Everything was very good. It was very busy on a Sunday night and the staff did a wonderful job of staying on top of it and the service was great. This is a great place to go on a hot day for a cold treat.

  • Debrin S.

Sooo super cute! I felt like I was on the old school TV set of Mayberry! Replete with soda fountain stools, glass banana split bowls, & every delectable topping your imagination could muster! Jelly beans of every color & flavor, chocolates, made fresh caramel corn, fudge, toffee, etc. A limited selection of ice cream flavors- which was creamy, sweet & fresh. The experience is actually better than the ice cream itself but no matter! I had the vanilla ice cream w almonds & coconut truffles, home made hot fudge & real whipped cream.... DELISH! My 3 yr old niece liked her "pananilla I.e. Vanilla ice cream w rainbow jelly beans too. Out door seating. Very friendly service. A tiny bit pricy.

  • Breanne T.

Best ice cream in Boise, hands down! I love the fact that they make their ice cream in house and use all of the best REAL ingredients. They have spoiled my taste buds and now all other ice cream will never taste the same to me again.

    (5)
  • Lauren S.

Delicious! The ice cream is very rich and very flavorful- you only need a little, but it is so good that you can hardly stop yourself from eating it all! As for the candy, don't waste your time buying the candy in the jars- nearly all of them you can purchase from the Winco bulk section for much cheaper. The homemade chocolates, however, are absolutely divine in small quantities. Their truffles are not the best I have had, but they will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. The ice cream is a little pricey, but the quality makes up for it. If you pick one thing, get the ice cream, not the candy or homemade chocolates.

Hubby and me have been being more careful about what we eat since the start of the year. We'd both had a hankering for ice cream for a bit, so I decided that rather than go the usual 'soft serve' route at Sonic or Dairy Queen, we'd check out Yelp for a new place. Helloooo Goody's. Located in an old house in Hyde Park (an area that reminds me of NW 23rd Street in Portland), entering Goody's is like being transported back to the past. This is a place where Willy Wonka would feel right at home. From the old glass candy jars lining the shelves, the blast of caramel corn smell and the sounds of the soda fountain, it's a return to days gone by when ice cream and candy were not every day staples, but true treats to be savored. We we very fortunate to find a parking spot on the street right in front of the building. It was 63 degrees on a FEBRUARY day in Boise and people were out in droves. Watch yourself on the sidewalks and stairs going into Goody's as some people tend to let their kids run around like wild things and it's easy to find yourself being bumped. My impression (after clearing my head of the caramel corn miasma and general awe) is that the interior of Goody's is a dark space not big enough to serve the kind of volume they see. What seats they offer are hard (wooden chairs, benches and stools). There is no table service.. EVERYONE- whether they are there for ice cream, candy or caramel corn has wait in the same line. While there were two registers running when we were there you would not have known it from there being one thick rope of a line of people waiting to get to the center register. That line snakes back into the seating area, so people seated to enjoy their treats find various parts of peoples anatomy at eye level . There is no pre-screening for orders. SO even if YOU know what YOU want, you are still forced to stand there while a family of five decides what each person wants, right down to the sprinkles on the ice cream. After experiencing this I know why some reviews for Goody's are so yin and yang. The ice cream really is THAT GOOD, but the process to get it is an undertaking such that I would never dream of even going NEAR Goody's in the summertime. There were eight kinds of ice cream available, and two kinds of frozen yogurt. Because all of the flavors were either fruit (except vanilla, and chocolate) or coffee flavored (seriously, no savories, no butter pecan, or caramel, or turtle.. not even rocky road)I opted for the traditional banana split and a root beer float (for me and my husband). After the battle to get the order placed, receiving our yummy treats was found to be well worth the effort. The ice cream, creamy, spot on flavors and good sized portions, the toppings, true to the mark- big chunks of pineapple, strawberries and yummy chocolate. Right down to the whipped cream and TWO cherries (I'd asked for two). The root beer float.. HEAVENLY. I might consider a banzai run to pick up a pint of ice cream in the future, maybe some caramel corn- but I don't think any force short of a private party could get me to venture in to stand in that line and then try and sit in the room. That is, unless they expand their space and/or rework their order process. Spend a bit in that crowded room with whining and crying children and sugar hyped persons of all ages and you'll understand.

The ice cream really is THAT good. My only gripe is that it was 10-15 min before we got our ice cream, on a Monday night in April when it didn't seem that busy. I can't even imagine what the wait is like in the high season, but again - the ice cream is really really freaking good.

Goody's is simply awesome. I had a salted caramel shake, and it was fabulous. The atmosphere and location of this place is amazing, it takes you back in time. There needs to be more places like it.

Popped in here for a treat after dinner with co-workers. Adorable! It's an old house, with seating in and out, stools, tables etc. I went for a teeny tiny scoop of the peanut brittle something or other. OMG - woah. Amazingly creamy and delicious! And ... not fast. Not fast at all, but that could have been the 12 sundae's that had been ordered prior to our arrival. But really you shouldn't be in too much of a hurry to get some ice cream! Definitely lots of desert options, ice cream, chocolate, candy and more. I just needed a little scoop but will definitely be back to try some other items!

A Boise Staple! The Ice cream is dreamy....all flavors. Friendly and happy staff. This is the kind of shop you hope your great grandchildren get to experience! I love Goodys. Everything is AWESOME!!

Love the location and friendly service. The ice cream was good but I also wish they had more options available and I wish they had a menu on the wall. I ordered the sea foam ice which was on point from the 3 little seafoams that I did get.

I am a very stressed person, probably because I am a kid at heart and this grown up thing SUCKS. This is an excellent place to forget that for a little while, even though it's a bit pricey for my taste the feeling of the place and every sugery wonder treat is worth it. The location of the place are great, with inside and outside seating you can watch the world go by or people watch while others enjoy the experience and kids get to be kids for a bit. If you go on a day it isn't hoping you can read in a sunny window spot or quietly enjoy your selection without ever feeling rushed. If stuffed animals are something you desire this place is a must, they always have the cutest and oddest selection of animals, so if you have a friend who collects a certain creature it is very possible you will find a stuffed version here for a light hit to the wallet. The candy selection is immense and includes some candy that is very hard to find or some things you probably haven't seen in a while! Some of these are zaps, warheads, and the sugar bacon stuff that is epic. Personally I go more for the feeling of slowing down and sitting for a little bit, just to collect a small amount of sanity while enjoying a sugary treat.

I love this place! Ice cream is arguably my favorite food, so as long as a store offers great service and a variety of flavors, I am happy & Goody's did not disappoint. This place was recommended to me by several coworkers and I have been twice now. The 1950's ice cream parlor feel is awesome & it takes you back in time. I have loved the ice cream & will definitely be back soon!

  • Brian Z.

A wonderful little neighborhood candy and ice cream shop. Pretty laid back, with a decent amount of seating inside and outside. I had the Oreo and Cream ice cream - it was fantastic! The service takes it time to get you your treats, but it's definitely worth it.

  • John V.

This sweets shop will bring out the kid in you and if it doesn't then you are definitely a grouch! Candy, chocolate, ice cream, what is not to like? The quality is pretty darn good, even if it is a little on the expensive side. Nice olde-timey feel to this shoppe since it's in an older house. It's kind of like grandmas in that it is crammed full of EVERYTHING sweet, including the stuffed animals. The floors creak authentically and they have a counter with stools - very charming indeed. Only gripe: it feels very local and the location is in the best neighborhood in Boise, but alas it is a franchise of a chain out of Bend. It may be locally run, but still not a one of a kind.

  • Ophelia M.

I've sampled their ice cream sundaes. I've sampled their candy. Now, for the fourth stop on my Tour de Shake: In search of the best effing milkshake in Boise, I took on their shakes. Hand scooped? Yes. Good variety? Yes. Salty/sweet offerings? (aka chocolate/peanut butter shake) Yes. Thick and creamy? Yes. Whipped cream and a cherry on top? Yes and yes. Best effing shake in Boise? Quite possibly... What's not to love? It's all the Goody's deliciousness blended to a perfect milky loveliness. What better way to spend a warm Friday evening than sitting at their outdoor tables, smack in center of Hyde, while live musicians strum a tune, and you enjoy a milkshake? Get to it! Now!

    (5)
  • Jeanne Z.

I loved the Grape & Strawberry Phosphate, it was very good. And, they had a great selection of jelly beans----I didn't try any of their ice cream sundaes, but it would be a fun place to take a group and eat sundaes/milkshakes I imagine.

This place was so cool! It reminded me of the opening scene where Charlie (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) is looking into the window of the candy shop that he wants to go into. I got an assortment of chocolate truffles that everyone loved. SO MUCH CANDY! Plus, toys, and cookies, and ice cream, and just brings out the KID in you. Great place

We spent last evening in Hyde Park, including a visit to Goody's. It's a beautiful shop in a great location, and it smells fantastic. It's also very roomy with outdoor seating. My husband got a cup of chocolate ice cream to share with our sons and I tried a caramel shake. Upon his first bite, my husband was amazed at how chocolate-y his chocolate ice cream tasted. It was very rich and creamy. My shake was a little too rich, not that it's a bad thing. I was just full from dinner. It could have used a little more caramel in it because it was mixed with vanilla bean ice cream that was as vanilla bean-y as my husband's chocolate ice cream was chocolate-y and overwhelmed the caramel. I find it sadly amusing that another reviewer said the flavors were off. It's made from natural ingredients. Some people are so used to the synthetic stuff, they don't know what real food tastes like. The ice cream is higher in price due to the quality of ingredients but on par with chains like Ben & Jerry's. It's very rich and filling so you definitely get your money's worth. I also took some gourmet chocolate home: a Bailey's Irish cream truffle, a Kahlua and cream truffle, a French chocolate velvet, a butterscotch velvet and a salted milk chocolate caramel. Everything was great. The shop also carries Ty's line of beanie boos and plush animals to peruse while you wait for your order.

I live very close yet avoid it mostly based on a bad experience several years ago. An overpriced cone of mediocre ice cream. Last night I had a craving for real, not soft ice cream and so I gave it one more try. It was worse than the last time. Really packed which is great for the business but they can't handle it. I had to wait almost 15 minutes for a simple one scoop cone. the prep area is way too small, people falling all over themselves behind a narrow counter. Confusion seemed to rein and then (wait for it) I got another mediocre small cone for almost $4. Never Again.

Great ice cream, friendly service, and plenty of indoor as well as outdoor seating! I had the coconut banana ice cream - very tasty! Prices aren't cheap, but the quality is good.

  • Thanh L.

The ice cream is good and they give you plenty! Thanks to Yelp, I ventured over to this cute little shop in an area of Boise I had never been to and discovered a true gem. Patience is definitely good to have while waiting for your bowl or cone or cup of creamy goodness. Your nose will not complain about all the sweet smells of freshly made cones during the wait, though. I can just imagine how many cool kids come here as a treat from their grandparents. Makes me almost want to move to Boise so my future kids can experience it!

I can see how it would be easy to go nuts here. I wanted to try everything. Instead my friend and I settled for a fountain drink and a sundae. Really good. (I think it was even better due to it being a ridiculously hot day.) Definitely worth stopping by if you have a sweet tooth.

    (4)
  • Brooke W.

Adorable! And Yummy! The atmosphere is really fun, family friendly, and usually really busy. There is great outdoor seating during warm months. The selection of sweets and candy is fabulous. The ice cream is delicious! The only reason that I didn't give them a 5 star rating is because of the prices. The prices are pretty high, so be prepared to splurge.

Very cute, quaint little old time ice cream and dessert parlor in little historic Boise in Hyde Park. Never been disappointed!

Awesome ice cream store and gift shop! Also associated with a nice toy store right next door. BTW the caramel corn at Goody's is, well, to die for!

  • Grant H.

It's just another candy store that looks cute and is staffed by pleasant teenagers who keep soldiering on despite the huge numbers of North Enders who choke this place off with their kids on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong-- my kids love Goody's. I am impressed by their selection of fountain drinks and some of their candies, but I beg to differ with other assessments of their ice cream. Something about it leaves me feeling, well, gross. And, I agree with all the reviews indicating that the wait for service is pretty poor. If they are as successful as the clientele and crowds would indicate, then it might not hurt their bottom line too much to hire another person to work during the high-pressure hours. An interesting comparison is Powell's candy store at Bown Crossing in Southeast Boise. Admittedly, I've never been there at peak hours, and it's in a brand-new McSubdivision area that is contrived to look "authentic", but the selection is insane and, IMHO, the ice cream is better.

good home made ice cream, but they put on too much syrup(s)

  • Kevin N.

I'm a sucker for this place! All the reviews below pretty much covers all the good and bad Goody's has to offer. Adults of all ages will find a small piece of their childhood at this place. Just a good goody old fashion soda shop. Go be a kid and enjoy it!

Nostaligia, warmth and an overwhelming sense of "I'm going to inhale everything I lay my eyes upon" will hit you as you step inside Goody's in Hyde Park. As you walk in, you'll see the big copper pot they hand mix their caramel in. Look to your left and you'll see that they still, honest-to-God, sell Beanie Babies in the front window! Beyond that is a cute little sitting area with a throwback counter and stools, making the place look like something out of a 1950s movie. Perfect location, delciously decadent homemade ice cream, cones and candy... I truly love everything about this place. You pay more for everything in here (there is even a $48.00 lollipop on the wall by the check out), but it's worth every stinkin' penny. My favorite ice cream is the Chocolate Almond - so much creamy sin stuffed into one dish (they don't skimp!) and plenty of nutty, crunchy delight to excite the palate and make you yearn for more, no matter what time it is. We frequent Hyde Park at least once or twice a week on our bikes, and it seems like every time we've been this summer, Goody's has awesome live music out front on the patio. There couldn't be anything more cool on a summer day!

  • Talo P.

I absolutely love Goody's! It has great, homemade ice cream. It's a charming and fun setting. And it recaptures old memories and nostalgia of ice cream parlors past. Even the building is charming and historic, which fits in perfectly with Hyde Park. The patio is great for relaxing on a hot summer day. Walking into the store is like entering a time warp. You just can't help but smile and have fun there. I don't eat candy. But the ice cream really is excellent. Service always good and friendly. This is a real gem. Boise is lucky to have Goody's. A true local landmark

I am really torn between giving Goody's a 4 or 5 star rating. I think that had the ambiance not been so amazing, I would have rated Goody's 4 stars. I really wasn't impressed with the candy selection- seemed like not much more than jars of Jelly Belly jelly beans and the like. However, the service was very friendly and the sundaes were terrific. I had the Linda's Love, a black forest style chocolate cherry concoction. The best part of the experience though was sitting out on the patio on a Friday night. It was quite busy, no empty seats. However, they had a jazz-funk band playing some awesome jams, and all sorts of people were enjoying the late summer evening together, older and younger, parents with children, single people on their own, people with their dogs and young couples. It was seriously good times.

  • Mike Y.

What can you say...simply delicious! The ice cream is the best. It's homemade with a lot of TLC. The banana ice cream is sooooo good. Simple...bananas, brown sugar (but not too sweet), and cream. As an extra added attraction, a very hip jazz ensamble was playing Very talented! With an exceptional jazz guitarist from New York, Mr. Brent Vaartstra.

  • Kristin B.

CHARM. The shop is a converted bungalow house in a lovely area known as Hyde Park in Boise's North End. If you love candy, your choices are endless. Jelly beans, jawbreakers, house made chocolates, licorice, etc etc. Everything is displayed beautifully in glass jars and cases. The people who work there are fabulous! Ice cream is homemade! Flavors are pretty tame. I'd like to see them offer a couple creations you can't get just anywhere. However, you can make things interesting with your own customizing of syrups and or toppings. Prices are super fair. Over all, an absolute treasure!

I really wanted to like Goody's, believe me. i love Hyde Park & I want those businesses to prosper. But the truth is Goody's is expensive & the ice cream is the worst I've ever tasted. I tried it 3 times, not believing what my taste buds told me. Apparently, their ice cream has very little butterfat & the flavors are way off. Even the vanilla is almost unrecognizable. I'm an expert on ice cream & frankly, even the Dairy Queen is better (yes, I know their soft-serve isn't really ice cream). In regard to Goody's candy, I cannot speak to it as I haven't tried any. But I do know it's as expensive as Godiva's.

Great ice cream, great americanos, great service and great for families. My brother and his family brought us here. It is in a beautiful part of Boise and a cool little soda shop. There were lots of flavors and enough seating for everyone. It also had a coffee bar, which meant a lot to Dave and I. Its a great place to go in Boise.

Used to go to Goody's in Sunriver, OR all the time as a kid and was so glad when they brought their desserts to Boise. As good as it gets!

Goody's is an old fashioned ice cream and candy shop. They have fantastic ice cream and a wonderful patio. In the summers, they frequently have a band playing outside.

We were still a half a block a way when I first caught the scent. Were those ... fresh baked chocolate chip cookies? Actually, no. Just fresh-made waffle cones. But did you say homemade ice cream? Twist my arm. Mmm. Okay. Yum. How about a truffle to go, or two? Maybe a sample of that little sweet something over there in one of those colorful jars of candy goodness? I could be here all day, every day.

Goody's Iv been going there since i was 4 years old. I still love going there. The staff is friendly and the sweets are yummi. Theres popcorn, chocolate, huge jawbreakers, icecream, gummies, shakes. The list keeps rolling on. If you were to walk by during the summer in hyde park(north end of boise) they have water and cups outside for whoever needs it. Anyone who is touring, this is one of the places you have to stop. Every city has "that" place ...In Boise this is THAT place.

I agree with all the positive comments and would also add that their caramel corn is to die for!

Gave it 4 star just for the nostalgic factor alone and the waffle cone aroma you can smell a block away but the real star is for the coffee bean ice cream. I've tried many and Goody's had a nice strong coffee flavor. It was a nice and unexpected great surprise I found while visiting friends in Boise.

CANDYLAND! this place is delightful for all ages. The ole time soda fountain feel with amazing smells topped by visual delights and ultimately the most satisfying are the treats.. from ice cream, homemade cones, truffles, hand made chocolates, fun popcorns, candy necklaces and I could go on and on and on.. just go.. and enjoy.

Not much else to add to what other reviewers have said but this place is definitely a great place to get ice cream. And yes, the ice cream sundae's are amazing. I also really enjoy their caramel popcorn. You really can't go wrong here.

My fiance and I headed here on a recent trip to Boise with the intention of buying some goodies for the gal watching our puppy back home. The place is pretty cute, and the staff very friendly and helpful. They allowed me to fill up my own gift box, as I didn't want to go with one of their pre-made boxes. They were really patient in allowing me to choose every piece to put inside the box, and they made sure it was packed carefully for our flight back. My fiance couldn't resist the allure of the ice cream, so he ordered a scoop of vanilla bean. He seemed to enjoy it, and they gave us some ice water as well. Nice spot, nice people.

This is a great place to take a date or friend and just hang out while sipping a milkshake. The candy ranges from overpriced to absurdly overpriced but the overall atmosphere is great.

If you like ice cream, you have to come here! The caramel corn is excellent, too, but the chocolate candy is second rate. They have lots of hard candy, jelly beans, etc., which are also good. However, the homemade ice cream is very rich and tasty. Sometimes the quality of the milk shakes falls off when a rookie makes them, but I always go back. It is a real soda fountain, with soft ice and bar stools or tables. You can sit outside in the summer.

What I Like......decent selection of candy and ice cream, great location in Old Boise, great decor and friendly staff What I don't like.......WAY TOO EXPENSIVE , no toffee candies

  • Mel B.

It's such a cute place and staff is very friendly. I felt like a kid in a candy store! They make a lot of their products in store. Carmel popcorn and ice cream is amazing.

The servers was very helpful and nice. They let you taste any flavors you wanted before selecting. I had the toasted coconut and it was fabulous! Also, I'm going back today for more caramel corn. It's probably the best I've had in 30 years! Yummo!

Lots of kinds of candies and homemade chocolate treats, ice creams, and fountain sodas. Everything was very good. It was very busy on a Sunday night and the staff did a wonderful job of staying on top of it and the service was great. This is a great place to go on a hot day for a cold treat.

Best ice cream in Boise, hands down! I love the fact that they make their ice cream in house and use all of the best REAL ingredients. They have spoiled my taste buds and now all other ice cream will never taste the same to me again.

  • Nancy C.

The ice cream really is THAT good. My only gripe is that it was 10-15 min before we got our ice cream, on a Monday night in April when it didn't seem that busy. I can't even imagine what the wait is like in the high season, but again - the ice cream is really really freaking good.

  • Lauren S.

Love the location and friendly service. The ice cream was good but I also wish they had more options available and I wish they had a menu on the wall. I ordered the sea foam ice which was on point from the 3 little seafoams that I did get.

Adorable!

I looove goody's, BUT their scoops of ice cream are so TINY for the $4 you pay for a single scoop cone!! They need to step it up in that regard! Technically I could get the same great tasting ice cream at Ben and Jerry's and get more for my money. Just sayin'..

Important: Pace yourself! My fiance went for the ice cream, I went for the hot cocoa. Mmmmm. Both were delicious. So delicious that you should remind yourself to intake all that sugary, rich, deliciousness slowly...

  • Kerri H.

  • Jacquie L.

  • Mel B.

Best ice cream in Boise, hands down! I love the fact that they make their ice cream in house and use all of the best REAL ingredients. They have spoiled my taste buds and now all other ice cream will never taste the same to me again.

Love the location and friendly service. The ice cream was good but I also wish they had more options available and I wish they had a menu on the wall. I ordered the sea foam ice which was on point from the 3 little seafoams that I did get.

A wonderful little neighborhood candy and ice cream shop. Pretty laid back, with a decent amount of seating inside and outside. I had the Oreo and Cream ice cream - it was fantastic! The service takes it time to get you your treats, but it's definitely worth it.

    (4)
  • Lauren S.

Get to it! Now!

Adorable!

Shannon was super helpful (and patient) while we perused the extensive ice cream menu. I recommend the Coconut Creme flavor! Shredded coconut inside...

I looove goody's, BUT their scoops of ice cream are so TINY for the $4 you pay for a single scoop cone!! They need to step it up in that regard! Technically I could get the same great tasting ice cream at Ben and Jerry's and get more for my money. Just sayin'..

Important: Pace yourself! My fiance went for the ice cream, I went for the hot cocoa. Mmmmm. Both were delicious. So delicious that you should remind yourself to intake all that sugary, rich, deliciousness slowly...
