Love the local atmosphere and fresh veggies. The sandwiches are delicious and come in a variety of choices. Friendly staff. The soups are also great and the chips or fruit is included! I come to Cobbys over any other sandwich place in the area.

The best sandwich and soup (clam chowder) in the state. Avoid at 12pm lunchtime unless you have an hour to wait. Everything taste fresh and I highly recommend dunking your sandwich in the soup.

Egg salad sandwich totally runny and gross. I went to talk about it with the worker (short blonde female) and she basically blew me off. She confirmed that her manager (tall blonde female) was standing 2 feet away making a sandwich, I know she heard and didn't say anything. Crappy food, and equally poor service. NOT RETURNING EVER.

A local chain of sandwich shops that has done well in the Boise area. Originally all the sandwiches were made on hoagie roles but they have diversified by adding other artisan breads. The selection has been downsized from the menu list of the past but the quality of the food has remained the same, not over the top but quite tasty. They provide plain potato chips and fruit with the sandwiches. The soups here are okay as well if you like the soup and sandwich thing the offer a Half and Half meal deal. The salad bar is somewhat limited on the selection but looked to be fresh. There is a few micro-brews on tap as well as the standard mega-brew selections. Seating is on hard wooden picnic tables and benched. Overall it's not a bad place to grab a sandwich for lunch or a quick dinner bite.

Tucked away in an unsuspecting shopping center, is Cobby's. Favored by locals, so I'm told.... it was pretty full during an early lunch on a weekday. Sandwiches are good.... ingredients are fresh.

This is really a Boise institution and I'm not sure why. The sandwiches are super expensive and not very good. People must love it for the barrel of chips. I'm not sure what angle these guys are shooting for. The soups are terrible. I wouldn't be shocked if you told me they are straight from a can. The sandwiches are very average. You pay 2-3 times more than you pay at any other sandwich shop. Every Cobby's shop I've been in are dark. Seating is limited to what can only be described as indoor park benches. You pay a premium price for sub par sandwiches.

This place should be shut down by the health inspector as it's filthy.

I love me a good sandwich, and Cobby's is by far one of the best places out there. There's no question whether or not their meat and veggies are fresh. Everything is made to order right then and there, and each sandwich includes unlimited fruit and chips. My dad and I were instantly impressed!

I have been to cobbys before but it's been a while. From what I remember it wasn't anything special. While this Visit was pretty much the same. There was nothing that stood out about the food. Yes I am sure it's probably a way better quality then your typical fast food sand which place but that's where it stops IMO. Would I eat here again, maybe.. I wouldn't not eat here but it's just not a place that I crave for any stress of imagination

This place sucks! Crap ingredients at premium prices. 17 dollars for two stupid boring sandwiches. Bleubirds downtown is now my craving. Boooooo!!! (Creepy logo also)

Such deliciousness!! I highly recommend their soup/sandwich combo option. All their breads, soups and meats are so fresh and sandwiches are made exactly to order.

Cobby's is a local favorite. I was turned on too the restaurant when I went to Boise State. They have a location on Broadway that I was a regular at. I have now switched to the Overland location as my primary Cobby's. They store layouts are all roughly the same, but each has their own charms and quirks. A common complaint that you will hear is the oversized counter you order from. I'm 6'4" and it comes to just below my chin. I assume most people look straight into the wood while ordering. This might not be a problem, but some people like to see their sandwich made instead of "hidden". The food selection is great and the meats all seem fresh. The bread can be hit and miss so I make it a point to request looking at the bread before I order. I like the faccacia and it isn't always made consistent. The prices are a bit higher than an average subway shop, but the quality of food and services make up for the higher price. To top it off they offer free chips and fruit with all sandwiches. I wouldn't go to Cobby's daily because of the prices, but I do think of it as my biweekly treat.

Unlike some people that visit a place once and write a review. I have been eating at one Cobby's or another for over 30 years. It is the go to sandwich shop in the Boise area. It has the most consistent and fast service of any of the other sandwich shops. Nice daily special, good salad bar, fruit, and all the chips you need.

Simply put, cobby's takes the simplicity of a submarine sandwich and through some sort of wizardry, turns it into a memorable experience for your mouth. Quality meats and cheeses come together with beautifully soft fresh rolls and a variety of other condiments to create something mouth watering and delicious. It's a bit pricey for a sandwich really, but you get what you pay for. That being said, the first time I ordered a sandwich at cobby's I have to say I was pretty hungry at the time, so I ordered a large number 15;now I'm a pretty big fellow and have been known to down a large pizza for myself, but halfway through this giant sub I called it quits, saved the other half and had it for a late dinner that night.. like I said, you get what you pay for... Lol. I would definitely recommend this place if you are craving a submarine sandwich. 10/10!

Bad? Don't waste your time? Obviously some of you haven't been out of a subway or a blimpie. If you'd rather get a bigger sandwich and premium ingredients, try cobbys. If you're okay with eating sub par meats, and veggies on a yoga mat, continue going to subway and blimpie. Cobby's is doing it right. And the owner actually works, takes deliveries and runs supplies to all locations. Find me an Owner that does that kind of work for his own company.

Bad service. I waited with my daughter at the counter for almost 5 min and no one came out to help. I could hear them laughing in the back. We ended up going to a local sandwich place up the road. My boss recommended Cobby's. What a bummer!

Don't let the dated decor deter you. A Boise staple for as long as I can remember. Their sandwiches are great, and soup is delicious. My husband loves to get a bread bowl with clamp chowder. I like either a simple turkey sandwich or French dip. You grt all the chips & little apples you can eat.

Cobby's is one of my must-stops when I make it back to Boise. And even though I haven't been here in a few years, it was as good as ever. I always order the #23 Turkey and avocado. They make this sandwich right, with fresh and chewy wheat or white sub rolls, fresh turkey, and real avocado slices, not avocado spread. With pepperocini, lettuce, tomato and some light mayo, this sandwich is perfect. And I was pleased to see that you can also get your choice of an apple or orange with your sandwich, not only the bag of chips. Thanks Cobby's for doing sandwiches so well for so long!

The high prices here are a major turnoff. The regulars must be making a good chunk of change in town. Their small sandwiches don't fill me up, so I have to go for a large sandwich (18"), which will run you around $13. Having Baguette Deli in town now makes me ponder sandwich scenarios like this: Baguette Deli's footlong house special (which can fill me up): $3.25 Cobby's 18-inch sub with a couple small bags of chips and a small piece of fruit: $13+ Basically I would need to grab at least 20 bags of chips for me to feel like I got equal value. The thought of me speedwalking out of Cobby's with 20 bags of chips (with a friend hopefully flanking me for security) is amusing but unrealistic. But I do wonder what happens when someone grabs what could be construed as an excessive amount. The sandwich quality is not bad beyond any stretch of the imagination, but I've never said to myself "This is a really good sandwich" either. And you think you would get more than what you actually get given the price. I tried the clam chowder once, and I won't be trying it again. The customer service is quite good though. Even when the line is huge and things are hectic, the servers stay friendly and pleasant. I'm not sure I get the popularity either other than supporting a local establishment with friendly employees, but better Cobby's than the chain sandwich shops. Just be prepared for a significantly bigger hit in your wallet.

I have to agree with previous Yelper Beauford W. on this one. If you want an assembly line sandwich with some efficiency, go to Subway. If you want a sandwich that is artistry and is incrediblytasty.. go to Mancino's in Nampa. Cobby's, IMHO is over priced and over hyped. I've never stood in line so long for a sandwich in my life.

I really like going to this place for lunch. Clam chowder in a bowl hits the spot! A lot of great selections on sandwiches for a great price. PLUS - you get a side of chips and a fruit. Awesome! One of my favorite places in Boise. 5/5

Went back again after a year and I still love it. Customer service was excellent, very friendly. This time I ordered the Turkey and avacado, very delicious. I noticed for their mustard selections, they had dijon, regular, hot, I think honey, and cobby's sauce. I was tempted to try cobby's sauce, but wasn't sure if it would be good or not. I will definitely go for it next time.
