This place is bad news. Walked in, sat at the bar and no one came to take my order. I just got up and left.

Been wanting to try a longhorn statehouse for awhile. After my first visit I think it will be a while before I come back. Food is pretty meh,, tried both a steak and tried the lamb chops. I thought they were pretty sub par especially since they change top dollar. Given the choice between here and Texas Roadhouse, I'm going to the road house.

I've been here numerous times because a family friend always seems to only buy us gift cards to this restaurant, but I'm not complaining. I digress. Anyways, the quality is certainly there. I'd say the steak meat is of better quality than that of Texas Roadhouse, one of the competing franchises nearby. Texas Roadhouse gives you a bigger bang for your buck, serving steaks at a better rate. They also offer a better roll appetizer. However, you'll get a more quality cut steak here at longhorn. Service has always been fairly good. This restaurant offers a classier ambiance than competing Texas Roadhouse.

We just had the Dinner for Two special and I was severely disappointed in the steak. My husband ordered medium and there was no pink at all in it, and I ordered medium well and it was so dry and gross. The husband said he'd still eat it later so we kept it but for a nice steakhouse I was pretty bummed. (And I'm not very good at complaining..) Aside from the steaks, the ambiance in the restaurant was great and the other couple enjoyed their meal (although the other guy's steak was on the other end of the spectrum and super rare). The Parmesan crusted chicken was amazing and so was the french fries. Sweet corn fritters had more cornbread in them... They weren't as nugget-y, but we're still good.

Very large table set up at the entrance to the bar, difficult to navigate around. The salad and the entrée arrived almost simultaneously, a huge no no for me especially when I asked to have my salad first.

We absolutely love this place! It just recently opened and soon became our favorite place to eat! We have been here 3 times since they have opened and their service has been great every time & their food so delicious. We keep saying we need to bring so & so here because they would love it, but now we find ourself thinking that everyone would love it! I love the filet & salmon with their mashed potatoes & the rice that comes with the salmon! A bit pricey compared to other steakhouses in the area but we think it's well worth it!

I generally give reviews for food and for service when I go to a restaurant, but sadly that is not possible for the LongHorn Steakhouse in Waterloo. We arrived at 11:30 on Father's day with a party of 7 and waited 20 minutes. Not a problem with that at all. We were seated at a high table near the bar and a waiter took our drink order. It took a little longer than usual to get 4 waters, 2 sodas, and a kids milk but it's father's day so no worries here. We ordered when he brought our drinks and in about 10-15 minutes (I really wasn't paying attention) the salads came, not brought by our server but by food runners. About 10-15 minutes later I saw our waiter and asked for a refill on water which had been empty for awhile. He brought refills for the soda and water and that was the last time we saw him. About 12:40 which is 50 minutes after we were seated we inquired about our food. The person who said they would check on it for us did not return but rather a manager did. She said they were having problems with their screens and they were flipping back and forth and that somethings were getting mixed up. We explained that we had to go soon as we had other plans and she said that she would get our food going. At 1:10, after never hearing back from a manager or a waiter we decided to leave. I went to tell the manager we were leaving and when I told her she walked right past me ever after acknowledging that I was talking to her. I told her I felt this was rude and she gave me an excuse. She apologized in a patronizing way, and kept saying it was unacceptable, but apparently it is because it seems to happen a lot at this restaurant based on others I have spoken to and reviews I have read here. I would not recommend this location of LongHorn to anyone as they seem to get overwhelmed easily, and are patronizing when you try to rectify a situation. Maybe change the name of this location from LongHorn to WrongHorn.

Been here twice and both times service was horrible. That is if you expect drinks to come right away and want your food within an hour. Food is good but pricey, but that doesn't make up for service

Though I have no complaints about the food quality, I do wish the service were faster. Every time I have come here the wait between drinks, appetizers, and entrée is begrudgingly slow. Often the appetizer arrives 30 seconds before the main course.

I had dinner at this restaurant last Friday with my girlfriend. The service from our waitress was good and very attentive the dinner was what I would have expected from a restaurant of this type as part of a chain. I had the peppered ribeye and it was flavorful though the sauce that they provided on the side was totally nondescript. It was an adequate meal for commercial steakhouse though for a restaurant in Iowa, a state that is known for its beef the quality of the meat and the expense of the dinner was hardly appropriate. I recommended This place solely as an excuse not to cook your own flavorful beef at home

I've been here a couple of times before when I'm in Waterloo. This is my choice of the chains. Tonight Amber was appropriately attentive; not over the top, just right. First time I've had the Spinach Feta Chicken; good choice. It was well prepared, tasted good and came out pretty quickly.

We went there at 3:00 in the afternoon. Hardly anyone in the place. We put our order in and got an appetizer. Drinks and appetizers came right away. Then we sat for an hour without seeing our waitress. When she finally came to check on us we asked about our food. She said that she put the order into the computer but the kitchen never got it so they were just starting it. We had a lot planned for the day and spending two hours in a restaurant was not part of it. Don't know if she actually put the order in but what we do know is that any good waitress would have been checking on their customers and if she had been doing her job she would have caught the mistake well before this. When the food came they had given us ketchup instead of cocktail sauce to go with the shrimp and the bake potato had just a small pat of butter on it. We had to eat our food too fast to enjoy it. The manager took 10% off our bill but in our opinion that wasn't enough to compensate for the upheaval in our plans. We won't be going back again.

happy birthday to me! we stopped here for lunch about 1:50 (1/4). the host told us we could still get lunch and we proceeded to a booth in the back. he left us with dinner menus, but brought the lunch menus out quickly when we asked for them. he also took our drink and lunch orders, stating that our server was busy. drinks were brought out quickly but 20 minutes later the server finally brought out a bowl of bread, but no bread plates, so we spread our napkins out on the table and ate on those. she also had a few excuses for the lack of attention. when people come to dine with you, they don't want to know what problems you are having, why you are not fully staffed, etc. they come to eat. the food arrived and the server, apparently trying to over compensate for the former lack of service, asked 3 times in ten minutes if things were ok. PLEASE don't ask "how are WE are doing?",,,i don't recall you being invited to dine with US. the French onion soup was ok, the chicken/avocado sandwich was really good, but not much avocado was on it. the table next to us was not totally bussed the entire time we were there. ew. we left no tip for the server, but gave the host something on the way out. doubt we'll be back. 2*s cause the food was good.

Third time is usually a charm, but in lone stars case, no. So slow. We went at lunch and took ten minutes to get drinks and 35 minutes to get steaks off the lunch menu. Good thing we didn't have to be anywhere. And my three times have been spread throughout 16 months, but each time was the same result. Longhorn is nasty too, but I think we will head there next time. All of the steak chains are just something to smack your gums on anyway. Pop it from baggie to microwave, heat, wah-lah. Oh and bring back the peanuts.

I took Dad out for Father's Day here (his choice!) and it did not disappoint. The ambiance, staff and food were all great. I ordered the parmesan crusted chicken (very tasty!), BF ordered the prime rib (he said it was good but not the best he's ever had), Dad ordered the renegade rib eye (I am positive it was just because of the name. He's a goof like that) and Mom had a steak as well, but I can't recall which one. I know she enjoyed it though. Longhorn's side choices were all very good and prepared well. Sure, they don't have a ton of options, but at least they all look and taste good. Can't say that about every steakhouse style restaurant! I would come here over Texas Roadhouse EVERY time.

We decided to use our gift certificate at Longhorn Waterloo, Iowa . We arrived on Sunday At 4:40. We wanted to beat rush hour. The restaurant was half full. We were told it would be a ten minute wait. It took close to 15 minutes to be seated. After being seated we were there for 5 - 10 minutes no waiter or waitress. The table next to us had half drank water and pop glasses were just placing there order for food ( they must have been there for 20 - 30 minutes). There were 3 host and hostess telling people ten - thirty minutes because not enough wait staff. Maybe they should help wait tables. We left before placing our order. Went to Applebees across the street. The restaurant was full, got right in. Places our drink order right away, placed our food order right away. Food was great. Longhorn needs to visit the competition to see how to manage their employees and run a restaurant. We didn't want to see how long it was going to be before our food would show up. It was very terrible service. Hope we can use the 100.00 gift certificate next time.

Good place for wild west shrimp appetizer and a cocktail. Not too impressed with food - too much sodium

Great find. T-bone steak was the best I've had in a long time for the price. Great service; clean. Just what we had hoped to get. One complaint: they don't stay open late enough during the weekday! Tried to return for a second visit during our business trip but they were closed for the night at 9:45.

The bartender mixed up the bloody Mary mix with the sangria mix so I got a nasty sweet wine tasting bloody Mary. My steak was overcooked. On the plus side the manager came and apologized and compensated for the drink and steak and brought out free deserts. For this I may come back someday.

Food was great! Bartender/waitress was lacking. I gave them one star because the manager who placed this young lady, who is very inexperienced behind the bar, needs to find a more suitable position for her. So I come in and sit at the bar. No one is there. I wait... 5 minutes go by. I have a bartender. I order a beer and ask for a menu. She disappears. Granted, I know she has other duties, but at what expense of a customer who is throwing down a big fat filet, toppings, sides and several beers? I'm a $50 solo dinner person while stretching my legs and on the road for work. I get my food. Excellent! I get half way through my meal and need a beer refill... Where's my bartender? She's talking way too much with a table behind me - and, yes, that's inexperience by thinking the more you talk/the higher the tip based on false perception of relationship building. Then she starts with her broom. All along I'm holding my empty 20 ounce in the air. Does she notice? No. Why? She's got her head down and not peering up to check on her patrons. When I finally put my empty glass in front of her broom focused face, she poured me a refill. Then she came to talk with me. Short winded? No. She talked about her boyfriend and her European travels, her love for their no gun laws (I'm pro-gun), how they pay for everything for their people... She's so dreamy as she hunkers with her hands up on the bar and her head laying in dream mode on her arms. All along I think to myself, please let me enjoy this beer you took so long to get me, and please dear God stop this young liberal, lazy young lady from making me upset with her dreamy/unreal views of how the real world functions. On top of that, she asked me to give her advice about traveling for 3 months and how her boyfriend felt about it. Let me tell you... If I haven't already... If you are this gal's boyfriend, you may want to reevaluate the bait you carry while fishing in the sea that surrounds you. I would think, that if she wants to be away from you for 3 months at a time, there's a chance she's either got a screw loose thinking you will actually be loyal, or you are insecure to not call it off and play the field until she's done with her naive hippy rendezvous.

Longhorn is the better steakhouse in the area. I pretty much order the same thing every time...small sirloin, vegetable, & of course I nosh on the bread basket prior to the main course. If your not grilling at home...come here.

I gotta admit... This place knows how to right a wrong and take care of a customer (see my last review). Amanda coaxed me into coming back and giving them a second try after a bad eating experience last time. I'm glad I came back. Amanda was not here tonight, but manager Jim was great, along with the service and the food. I had the outlaw ribeye with baked potato. The steak was cooked as ordered and Everything was Very good. Btw, I really like the looks of this place too. Very nice Texas cowboy kinda thing going on.

I drove through thick fog for most of the day on Wednesday. checked into my hotel and went to 2 places to get a bite to eat, but they were closed. I stopped in at the Longhorn and asked if they were open, I was assured they were. The place was empty, it was after 10 PM and super foggy out. There were three guys at the bar and that was it. I had a great steak and was not rushed at all, even though they locked the doors shortly after I got there. I will be returning next time I am in Waterloo.

Outstanding restaurant! From the wonderful service to the outstanding food quality. We had a perfect evening at the Longhorn Steakhouse. Be sure to try the Lobster/Shrimp cheese dip appetizer; it's to die for! Our steaks were melt-in-your mouth and cooked to perfection. We were celebrating our 45 wedding anniversary, and were looking for a special evening out: Longhorn did not dissapoint. Unfortunately, we do not have any of these restaurants near our home, so it will be a special treat when we find one. We were in Waterloo on business, and discovered that many restaurants, especially the locally owned ones, are closed on Sundays. We were so happy to find a Longhorn nearby, and it was open on Sunday. Even though there was a very large party seated near us in the dining room, our service did not suffer. The server did an exceptional job with her recommendations. Because we were celebrating a special occasion, we opted for the dessert sampler. The portions were huge, and it was impossible to pick a favorite from the three fabulous desserts. Be warned, this is really huge; plenty to share for four- or get a take home box- you don't want to miss this treat.
