Visiting family in Iowa, my husband and I had the opportunity to visit Las Margaritas. Our relatives had really hyped it up for us, telling us for days that we were going to have the best Mexican food ever and constantly dropping references to this great dinner we were going to experience. It really lived up to the hype! When we arrived at Las Margaritas, we decided to sit outside, but shortly afterward it started to rain. The servers had no problem moving our entire party inside and helping us lug the GIGANTIC margaritas and complimentary chips & salsa we were all enjoying. We were happy to learn about the family that owns and runs the restaurant, which just made the place seem a lot home-ier and warm. Everyone was so nice to us (we're from Miami, so perhaps we're just not used to niceness). Unfortunately, we had a crazy long wait for our food, despite the place not seeming overwhelmingly busy. I was really happy to have the margarita to help speed the wait along! When we finally got our food, holy crap -- the table was packed. I am not kidding -- some of the entrees look like party platters! I ordered fajitas and enjoyed every bite. My husband's platter was a combo dish with different meats and sides, and he said it was delicious. We definitely didn't have room for dessert after we were done! Super delicious -- I'm thinking the long wait might have been a weird thing that particular day. Other than that, it was awesome!

Traveling cross country we came across this very good Mexican restaurant. Pleasant waiter and nice atmosphere. Lots of choices and smaller plates for lunches.

We've been coming here for years and really enjoy their family friendly atmosphere as well as the amazing food and drinks. Their Flautas and Fajitas are very good and our children love their kids margaritas (basically various fruit flavored smoothies).

Las Margaritas is one of my favorite dining places around town. Whether eating in or ordering out the food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is always personable and helpful and the cooks make a feast of dishes to satisfy even the biggest tummy. As a regular patron, I find it a rare thing to have such consistently high quality food and service.

It seems I've been going to a Mexican restaurant at this location for years, lol The latest incantation is Las Margaritas. A friend and I swung in for a late lunch on Friday afternoon and enjoyed our experience. I asked our server if they offered horchata, as it was not on the menu, and he happily brought out two horchatas. He was friendly and happily spoke to me in Spanish, being very gracious with my somewhat limited vocabulary. He also brought both corn and flour tortillas, which was very kind. The food is decent Mexican fare. I have had better, and I usually do. But for the area, this stuff is pretty good. I had the pollo con mole and my friend got huevos rancheros and we both enjoyed our meals. But HOLY PORTION SIZE, BATMAN. My plate had to have been 14-15" in diameter and it was full! I couldn't finish, but I thoroughly enjoyed what I could. I will definitely be back.

My girlfriend and I decided to 'celebrate' National Margarita day by heading to las margaritas. We had been there before and enjoyed our experiences. This evening was completely the opposite. It started with the gnats or fruit flies surrounding us and our table. Drinks were served quickly, and were satisfactory (bottled beer and margarita). Once we ordered (enchilladas de mole and chimichanga our food came out very fast. That's where any compliments end. The chimichanga was not 'deep fried', the guacomole, I'm sure came from a jar with "Gerber" on the label, the bones I found in my chicken enchilada were cooked perfectly however. There was one redeeming quality about this restaurant; our server and hostess could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. I hope they find work at a different restaurant where they won't feel embarrassed by the food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
