I've been here 3 times. Food has been wonderful each time. Last trip I had the bbq pork quesadilla. It was fantastic. Sit outside of the day is nice. They have a nice covered patio. Food is a bit pricy but very good. You will find dishes here you won't elsewhere. They have a good seafood variety too. Wait staff isn't very attentive. My friend and I went for supper. We are and were given our bill right away which we paid. But we hung around and talked. The place wasn't busy so we weren't taking up tables. But the waitress never came back or offered us refills. She was done with us apparently. We were there for an hour after eating. No one cleared any plates either. Weird.

In town for the weekend and decided to try Hurricane Grill and Wings since I had just heard we are getting one around the Des Moines area in a couple of months. I'm a big Buffalo Wild Wings fan because I like the combination of wings/beer/sports so I wanted to see where Hurricane stood compared to B-Dubs. First thing you will notice is this place takes on an island/beach house theme thus why it's called Hurricane. Really kind of reminds me of the decor at Joe's Crab Shack. I guess the first area of comparison is that Hurricane isn't nearly the sports viewing type place that B-Dubs is. Yes, they have TV's and you are pretty much in view of one everywhere you sit but it's obvious they aren't trying to be the sports viewing juggernaut B-Dubs is. The menu has more offerings overall than B-Dubs. Not only do they emphasize on wings but also on seafood and burgers. I went with the wings and tried both their Roasted Garlic Inferno and Extra Hot sauces. The Garlic Inferno is the sauce they use for their eating contest on the wall. I like my wings sauces hot and personally I didn't think it was mind-numbingly hot. Definitely spicy and had a very hard kick but I've had hotter. I could have probably done the challenge if I knew they had one before I ordered. The Extra Hot is just a hotter version of the tradition buffalo sauce. I got the garlic parmesan fries as a side and really liked them, although after a while of sitting the garlic oil makes them really soggy. When they were fresh and the fries were crisp they were excellent. They seemed to have a decent choice of beers on tap although we didn't sit in the bar area so I didn't get a good look. I think B-Dubs still has more on tap but still, not bad. Overall not too shabby. The wings were OK so I could probably see myself at Hurricane again.

Gosh! I really like this place and we have now become regulars. Fish and chips are the best and the same consistent delicious goodness served every time. The tap TV rocks while dining as well.

The service has been very hit or miss (we've been here 3-4 times), and the food is always just okay. Not really anything to write home about.

I was pretty excited to go here, as it is a new chain for our area. Have to say that I was fairly disappointed. Courtney was my bartender and bless her heart she was doing her best. She was swamped with orders from the wait staff, and with 8 people at the bar she simply had too much to do. They make a lot of bucket drinks with multiple ingredients so they are certainly time consuming. No bar back no help from what I believe is the management team, in black Polo shirts. She did her best and I have to say and was the only shining star of the experience. Wait staff was unprofessional, openly sharing their complaints about customers to the bartender in front of me the customer. They had their open top drinks scattered around the wait station cluttering things up with no regard for how it looks to the customer. They would handle the customer drinks from the top of the rim contaminating the exact spot said customer would drink from... sick! Several of them were on their cell phones engaged in their text conversations far more than the service they were giving their customers. The management team was most concerned with bullshiting with each other in the office or kitchen, never engaging the customers. They would also hang out behind the bar, not helping the bartender in any way, but busy talking with employees that were off duty sitting at the bar. Simply put just a complete lack of thought for the customer or the process of assisting the team. I only got a glimpse into the kitchen, and was not surprised by what I saw, just more mismanaged team members and a messy kitchen. The food was ok?ish I had the caribien jerk, and Thai ginger jumbo wings. They were big, tough and lacking flavor. The jerk was single noted heavy with nutmeg (I think) not hot as noted on the menu and poorly coated as if they were not properly tossed. Similar issue with the Thai ginger wings, just a single note of over sweetened ginger. Overall a typical chain location lacking any sort of leadership from the management team. Very much underwhelmed and disappointed in the experience. Decent concept just poorly executed. Pretty sure I will not be back!

Great bar service. Wings are crispy and juicy, coco loco sauce is sweet with a tiny kick, get extra for dipping. Burger was cooked perfect and huge. Very reasonably priced.

This place was great until Christine was so awful that I will never be back !! Horrible service attitude and she makes this a horrible experience. Food was wonderful and it's sad I'll never go back .

The garlic inferno wings at hurricanes are very good and very spicy. But for the lovers of the burn there still kinda mild but light weights watch out. But if you really want to have your eyelids sweat and leave yourself saying what did i just do then challenge the guys in the back to bring something out so crazy they stand there and watch the seven layers of hell in a bowl they just created. Have fun and enjoy.

So this is a typical Florida based establishment. Cheesy beach theme, beach style music, bright colors, outdoor patio, awful decor, and that "hey look we leave near water" feeling. Some things never change, been to enough places in Florida like this. Menu- 4- Seemed to have a good selection of food, I just got the wings though. Prices-2- A little too high for my liking. Wings were a dollar a piece basically and the wing Weds are 75 cents, which is the highest wing special i've seen. Wings-5-They were dang good wings, loved the sauces that I got. Extra hot had a very nice kick and buffalo Parmesan was excellent as well. They have tons of flavors to choose from. Sauce sampling ease-1-You only can get 2 sauces per order unless you get the $20 sampler then you can get four. At BWW you can easily get 4 sauces with 16 wings. Cmon its not that hard to sauce wings. Atmosphere-1-See 1st paragraph, I don't know why ever Florida place has a cheesy decor issue. I am shocked they didn't take from Hooters and Ker's wing house(also Florida chain) with there awful outfits they have their women parade around in, but they did take every other cliche restaurant decor style. Its an okay place, but only for Wing Weds for me.

This place reminds me of Buffalo Wild Wings but with fewer TVs and a beachy-surf theme. They focus their menu around their 30 flavors of sauces and rubs, which vary in a scale of 1, 2, 3 4 and 5, 5 being the hottest. I wandered in here one Sunday for a late lunch with my dad. It didn't look terribly busy from the parking lot, but most of the restaurant was full. We were seated right away in probably what I would consider for most people to be the worst table in the place: right next to the server station and the kitchen doors. I consider it a great table for a new place: super easy for me to spy on the kitchen and see if it looks clean, how the servers are doing set-ups, am I hearing anything I shouldn't be from the kitchen staff? Yes, I can be quite the sleuth haha. But it's second nature when you come from many years of restaurant industry work. Nothing to report except the server station gossip could be minimized. We don't need to hear how much you made in tips, peeps. Anyway, they have a lot of seafood menu items - wahoo, conch and the like. I'm already not much of a seafood person, so about 3/4 of the menu was not exactly appetizing to me from the get-go. But if fishy dips, sandwiches and entrees are your thing, you'll probably find plenty to enjoy here. I decided to go with the servers recommendation of the Santa Fe Wrap with choice of side (I went with Thai Slaw). My wrap was just okay. It was only grilled (barely) on one side, the chicken wasn't hot (maybe it wasn't supposed to be?), and even though it was flavored with some Lime Habanero seasonings, it was still pretty bland. The Thai Slaw, while it tasted pretty good, it looked like it needed to be thrown out a day or two prior...the slaw had a horrible color to it and was unappetizing to look at in general. Instead of his standard order of wings, Dad threw a curveball and went with the chicken tender sampler: 12 chicken stripes with your choice of sauces. He ordered the Fire & Ice sauce (horseradish and "heat"...whatever flavor "heat is"), Cyclone sauce (a blend of ranch and their Firecracker sauce, which they describe as a sweet and spicy Asian chili sauce), Thai Ginger and Garlic (garlic ginger, sesame and spices) and the Mild Hurricane sauce (buttery blend with a hint of vinegar and cayenne). He let me try a bite of each and I thought the best flavors of those 4 were the Cyclone sauce and the Fire & Ice sauce. If we come back again sometime, I would probably get a smaller version of this menu item. I'm the condiment queen! Love me some sauces. Our server was really great. Our drinks were never empty, our food came out in the amount of time you'd expect it too, our order was correct. She also walked us through the menu when we answered "Nope! First time!" to her question if we'd ever been there before, which I appreciated. Not sure why a certain previous reviewer of this restaurant took such great offense to this typical gesture, but I for one appreciate a server trying to make sure I know about all my options instead of the opposite.... so there's that. While it really isn't "my kind of place" overall (it's not them, it's me), I wouldn't object if the people I was eating with wanted to dine here. They have enough variety on the menu to appeal to most people's appetites and the service we had was great. I think enough time has passed they should have worked out their "just opened" kinks.

Wandered in Saturday for a late lunch. Was seated by the hostess in the back corner by the server stand. Asked to be moved, was taken to the other server stand, right in front of the kitchen. The restaurant was maybe 20 to 30% full lots of open tables. I waived the hostess down and pointed to the table of my choice. She wasn't real happy, by that point neither were we. Our server Jessica was great it was obvious that she was trained elsewhere. At that point we were expecting the worst. pleasantly surprised! The food was ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. It seemed slightly expensive. Better food and better value to be had elsewhere.

Went this summer for a beer and appetizers...beer was of course good but appetizers had too much salt and not much flavor...:/ maybe next time!

Reminds me a lot of Buffalo Wild Wings. I've been three or four times since it opened and the food has been decent but the service has been very hit or miss. I usually order the firecracker shrimp tacos or the grouper tacos. The firecracker sauce has very good flavor. The patio seating area is nice option is the summer. Overall it's a nice alternative to the typical local food selection in Waterloo, but I think they have a lot of improving to do.

Started going here last football season, glad Waterloo added this in. There are differences in the specials but the menus are growing.

I heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, mostly bad reviews. But I have tried almost all restaurants in waterloo so thought of trying this anyway. The ambience was good, had a feel of beach restaurant. The waitress welcomed us and asked if we wanted a booth. She answered all our questions about food and had better knowledge. I had a grand opening coupon by which we got wings for free. Food tasted delicious and service was good too. At the end the waitress bought a check in which I was charged for wings. After informing the waitress again about the coupon, she bought a new check with discounted wings. Overall I rate 4/5.

Got the naked wings so that I could test out a few of their sauces. I was not only unimpressed with the chicken itself... But the sauces were horrible! My best friend told me that I had to try the garlic Parmesan fries which sounded amazing, but tasted like greasy fries dipped in a cheap garlic flavored sAuce. I'm giving them 2 stars because the waitress was really nice. They sat us by the bar that was full of some sort of family or high school reunion that was super loud. Needless to say... I have no plans to ever eat here again.

Not terribly impressed with this place but not the worst place to eat. I had the 20 wing sampler with boneless wings. The meat was good. I tried four sauces with the wings out of the 3 and 4 heat categories. The flavor was not bad but the medium and hot sauces were fairly generic tasting. I had a couple asian sauces that were pretty good. Non of them were very hot at all. I'll eat there again and try something with more heat. The service was not bad. I went on a Friday evening and the outdoor seating area was fairly full. Inside the restaurant was not very busy at all. Seems they had a lot of staff there that was gathered around the front door chatting. The outdoor seating area was very nice and covered. I really enjoy wings so I'll try this place again to try some more sauces since they have so many.

I came in for Sunday lunch with my husband and a coworker/friend. There was about 7 or 8 employees up front by the greeters station all of which didn't greet us, my coworker greeted them with a big "hi!" And no response, I greeted them again with a, "hi" only for them to look up and say, "three of you?" Now skipping forward to when we got our food, I ordered boneless with with Honey BBQ, my wings were pretty much all crisp and no meet so it kind hurt to eat, and there was barely any sauce on them so I asked for some extra sauce, and let me tell you, that was NOT sauce, it was all melted honey with MAYBE a drop of BBQ sauce. So, if you like wings and better service, I strongly suggest you head on over to Buffalo Wild Wings.

This place just open up here 20 days ago and I had a bad experience . The waitress didn't know to much about the food she really could only tell me about the sauces they have for there chicken wings. I had mahi-mahi fish was over cooked and cold . Salad and soup arrived after my Maine course and soup was cold and half of it was spill out under the bowl it was served in. My dinner dater had the chicken wings & French fried . He said they were just ok, he had better else where. Also Music played so loud that the waitress really couldn't hear you talk to her. I will give it 1 more try since it is new in town. I felt like I was in a Darren Beck local restaurant , which he hires no experience waitresses, and has frozen food from Martin Brothers . Just saying

I've had more bad times there then good. My family likes the place but I go. One time they gave me the wrong bill, figured it out came to give me the right one, when they did they took my card to ring me up... 15mins later and after we watched them drop my debit card in the trash my mistake they came back and gave me my meal for free. The food is not great, the waitress another time smelled like BO. It's over priced, just not a good place IMO. I ordered their nacho thing one time and they forgot to put half the stuff on it... It's spendy for what you get.
