Best Chinese good ever. Prices are awesome compared to where I live. Staff is very attentive and will continuously fill your water. Can't wait to go back when I am in town again.

I only got around to writing a tip earlier, but I had to come back around and write a review because a tip wasn't enough! I can't say enough good things about this place; no matter how far away I go, I can never get as flavorful and authentic Chinese as Golden China has to offer! The staff is incredibly friendly, the ambiance is suitable, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The interior is suitable for somewhat formal dining and the prices are fast food comparable. I'm a regular and always make an effort to come back when I'm home. PS I'm a sucker for their crab rangoons, best I've ever had! Also, as mentioned in my tip, the Mongolian Beef is unbeatable!

I have been going to Golden China regularly for over 10 years. Back then, it was the only Chinese Restaurant in the area. Even today, with all the other local Chinese food businesses in the area, they still serve the best Chinese food I have ever tasted... Both here and anywhere else. For lunch, you can get most meals for under $7 with hot tea, egg drop soup, egg roll, chicken piece and fried rice. I recommend the Empress Chicken. Crab Rangoons are excellent, and you can get them with the Chef Special or 6 for a reasonable price. For supper, most meals are $8 to $10 and you get soup plus a more generous meal portion with white rice. You get something special with your fortune cookies as well! The one downside to the restaurant is the exterior and portions of the interior. They haven't done a great job of up keeping the restaurant. However, despite this one shortcoming, their food is excellent, and I have never had a bad meal. Try it sometime! You'll be glad you did.

Definitely the best Chinese restaurant in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. While I wouldn't consider it a "destination restaurant", the quality is a notch higher than any of the other places in town.

I ordered the "Kung Bao" chicken, which the restaurant claimed to be "hot and spicy." I was surprised to be served a completely bland dish. It was a gelatinous swill void of any flavor. I took two bites and couldn't eat any more. My wife had the "express chicken" which was better. My kids had the sweet and sour chicken which was was middle of the road. The worst part was the manager wouldn't refund me for my inedible dish. I flatly refused to pay for food I didn't eat. If I lived in Waterloo, I would never eat here again. I gave two stars and not one, because my wife and kids sort of liked their food. Terrible unfriendly service.

This place is one my favorites! That is, a fave, out of all restaurants I have EVER to. The food is absolutely fantastic. The serving staff is practically using e.s.p.-they know what you need, BEFORE you need it. The building itself is run down, but I understand that they are moving to a new location at the beginning of July, so that prob is short-term. Even the take-out service is wonderful! As I placed my order over phone two days ago,I heard "I know you!" &I could hear the smile thru the phone. Now, understand, she knew me when I asked for a small bag of the crispy rice noodles that are served under the Mongolian beef....that I hadn't ordered for at least 2 months! That is how you "do" customer service! Knowing my tastes , they recommended other dishes, that were DEFINITE hits! We always make our way back to the Mongolian beef though-they make it the best we've ever had! I'm anxiously awaiting the move to better facilities & then the place will be beyond reproach! Great job guys!

My favorite Chinese restaurant in the area, excellent food at a bargain price, throw in the good attentive staff and you've got a winner.

this was by far the best Chinese restaurant in this town. no matter what time you eat, its always consistant, just fantastic and you can't beat the lunch. the last few times we ate, something was different. I always get Mongolian beef, but it just tasted different. they have changed the appetizer chicken and the crunchies that go in the egg drop. I don't know what they did, but it just doesn't taste the same. we do love the tea (upon request) and the 'steaming' teapot which they bring out at dinner. I hate to say we may never go back, but that just might be. :-( 5*s if they hadn't changed things up 1* for how it is now,,,so an average of 3.

Awful service! They are listed as being a franchise and so we looked up the menu online to order and deliver. They told use they don't deliver! And the menu is wrong! Waste of time!

Even though we were coming in only moments before the lunch special ended, they sat us right away & gave us the special price. We are vegetarian & special made one of their dinner dishes for our meal when we asked. The outside of the building is lacking a certain aesthetic appeal, but good food for a good price. Check out the ivy along the wall -- it's REAL

Loved this place. This is not authentic chinese by any means, but I still enjoy good americanized chinese. Lunch special was about $6 and you get hot tea, soup, rangoon, chicken strip, and an egg roll plus a huge meal. I didn't actually like the dish I chose, but I think I just didn't get the right thing. Other peoples' meals looked really good. The sweet and sour soup was pretty good and the rangoon had tons of cream cheese. I'd definitely go back.

I have eaten at Golden China quite a few times, the latest today. The food is consistently very good, and although by no means have I eaten at every Chines place in IA, I have been to a lot of them and I like this one best. I am a vegetarian so I usually get veggie lo mein with tofu, not a menu item but they are happy to oblige, and it was great. My non-vegetarian friends who I have eaten with here have always been very pleased too. Lunch was $6.69 + tip, hard to argue, I often spend more than that at Subway and this is REAL FOOD.

Despite the outside appearance of the property, this is the best, most authentic Chinese food I have found in Iowa. The service was excellent, and fast, and the flow of customers reflects that.

This is one of our go-to places! The service is always great and the food is always top of the line. The prices are very reasonable for lunch and dinner and the portions are always large. One of my favorite places to eat in Waterloo. I recommend this to anyone looking for good quality Chinese food.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
