I just moved to Virginia Beach, where there's no such thing as good Chinese food. I CRAVE Great Dragon chinese. It is indeed a hole in the wall that cranks out the most delicious chinese food I've ever had. Their General Tso, Pork and Mushroom, and Crabmeat Rangoons are the best, period. And their weekend micro buffet is perfect and an incredible idea. Since its small with the best they have, nothing gets old or is unfresh. And it's very affordable. And please open a business in Virginia Beach. You'd be successful with just my business alone. Please don't change a thing! Can't wait to visit home just for some Great Dragon.

This is a hole in the wall restaurant that hass absolutely good food! I felt like a little fried rice and went in here to get some with shrimp. They have a large menu, but since I knew what I wanted, it was easy to choose. It's a small restaurant that is kept clean. The staff were friendly. The food was done within short order and brought out to us steaming hot. Oh, and the prices are exceptionally reasonable! I really like this place and will definitely return!

My friends and I love the lunch buffet-it's super cheap and gives you enough options to be satisfied but not so much that you're too stuffed to do anything after! The take out portions are HUGE. My boyfriend is a big eater and he can usually get 3 meals out of one order!

Back in high school, my friends and I would go for their lunch buffet once a month - it's delicious food, it's not that expensive(6$ for the all-you-can-eat-buffet), and the owners/employees are friendly even though they don't speak English extremely well. We have oodles of Chinese restaurants in Dubuque, and this place is the smallest but by far the best quality. While their lunch buffet is relatively small, it's delicious and the crab rangoons...YUM! I love getting takeout from here because you get a good sized portion for your money (which isn't super expensive anyhow) - I frequently end up saving some to snack on later. It's nothing fancy, but I love it!

Great Dragon has great food. I've only ever had it as take out, and keep going back. If I'm going to go grab chinese for home this is the place. The food has lots of flavor. I prefer the Mongolian Beef and have tried most of the appetizers and get excited to try each new thing.

It is a small Chinese buffet. We ate lunch. There was nothing that I'd consider a dish to try. Everything tasted like food you would find in most average Chinese buffets. The place needed to be steam cleaned and repainted. The food was not kept to the proper temperature.

If you're looking for no frills, cheap Chinese cuisine, check out Great Dragon. It's your typical strip mall restaurant - small, with a few booths and brisk take out business. Nothing fancy. I like their egg drop soup and the chicken and broccoli. The lunch buffet is small - Five Seasons and Asian King both have better selections (although Asian King is a little too decadent for my tastes). And this is the only place I've been to that make their crab rangoon look like little envelopes!

I seem to be craving Chinese dishes with vegetables this week, or maybe it's a craving for Chinese restaurants with names that start with "G." Last night, it was the Green Garden in Woodstock, Illinois and tonight it's the Great Dragon in Dubuque, Iowa. (I wonder if Linus ever ate here?) I decided to give it a try, based on Yelp reviews, and I am glad I followed the advice of fellow Yelpers! This little gem is located in a shopping center just south of Dodge Street, the major east-west road (US Highway 20) in Dubuque's West End. It's located in a center with a Hy-Vee. I placed my carry-out order from their enormous menu that was prepared very quickly. The menu has many offerings, the restaurant is reasonably priced. There is a small, but comfortable, dining area. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and appears to be a family operation, as a young man was doing his homework behind the cash wrap. (And good for him!) The clean kitchen is visible from the cash wrap, equally impressive. (I'm still trying to figure out why the golden cat is waving.) If you read my reviews on a regular basis, you know that four stars is high praise from me because I reserve five stars for places that are really special or unique. You might also know that I don't eat much, and the regular portion was more than enough for me. It might be a little small for large appetites but there is a wide variety of appetizers to fill you up. I ordered Chicken with Chinese Vegetables. The dish had lage, tender and tasty bits of breast meat. Vegetables in the dish included pea pods, mushrooms, bok choy, celery, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, carrots and broccoli, all in a light, flavorful sauce, all served with rice. The dish was prepared in standard cardboard carry-out boxes, so I helped myself to a styrofoam carryout box to use as a plate, along with plastic utensils, soy sauce packets and some napkins. I enjoyed a good dinner that was a wonderful alternative to the usual franchise meal. The owners are friendly and courteous, and more than happy to assist you in any way they can. You can bet that I will return!

It's one of those places that you have to convince those who haven't been there that the food is awesome despite the looks of the place. Definitely my favorite place to get Chinese food in Dubuque, however, if you are like me and a bit sketched out by the atmosphere I suggest ordering it for take out.

Fantastic as usual! We had the teriyaki chicken skewers with fries rice and egg rolls. This is the best Chinese in Dubuque, Iowa!

Above average fare and good prices. The place is a bit dingy and grimy and could use a good cleaning but the food is pretty dog gone good. My wife and I split the Kung Po chicken and glad we did as the portion was huge. They did charge us for an extra plate but that was OK. Came with fried rice and egg roll. I also ordered a pint of Hot and sour soup and it was quite good as well. With two drinks we got out of there under $13 total and we were both full and content. The people that run this, place are very nice and attentive as well. The Kung Po was not overly spicy but chocked full of veggies and nuts in addition to the chicken.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
