Fife’s

This bar is so much fun. It's a very laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like you're just relaxing at home. When you walk in there are 2 comfortable couches and candles burning which gives it a warm aroma. They have many specialty drinks to choose from. About 5 different flavors of Moscow Mule. Get their bloody holly. It's one of the most creative bloody Mary's I've seen with potato chips and a slider on it. They have several televisions going with whatever on that you want to watch. There is an entire stack of classic games to choose from such as operation, cranium, jenga, etc. And many books to read. . Where's Waldo, guinness book of world records. There is usually live acoustic music later in the evening which is always enjoyable. The staff are friendly as well as the patrons. You don't have to worry about a rowdy crowd here.

La Gastronomie Catering

1075 W 3rd St
Dubuque, 52001
Reviews:
La Gastronomie catered my wedding in September 2009. I worked with Anita and she helped me plan my entire menu. The food was fantastic. I had a small wedding so I decided to have finger foods and h'orderves. Anita and La Gastronomie made it so elegant. They also made my wedding cake (two caramel apple tiers and a chocolate Grand Marnier tier). The staff Anita sent with the food were very professional and efficient. I didn't have to worry about a thing. They also packed up all of the leftovers for myself or guests to take home. Everything was delicious and I still get compliments on the food nine months later! Highly, highly recommended!!

Hands down the best General Tso's chicken I have ever had. Great crispy texture, flavorful sauce, and the fried rice is excellent as well. Large portions for the price. Fast service.

Currently all Dubuque Starbucks locations are within the Hy-Vee grocery stores. In my experience and coming from a big city I find all of the employees to be very friendly and the service has been excellent.

Buddy’s Clubhouse

2364 Washington St
Dubuque, 52001
Reviews:
Buddy's clubhouse is the best forgotten place in Dubuque. People just forget about it. Buddy cuts his own meat and the prices are so fair. I got a big cut rib eye and it was $17.00 and it melted in you mouth. The hash browns are like nobody else's. There Cod is the best around. The drinks are reasonable and mixers are made so you actually get booze. This is a must go to if your in Dubuque IA
My wife and another couple were in the Dubuque area for a mini vacation. We always look at Yelp to get ideas as to where we would like to dine. Buddy's Clubhouse always seemed to be our choice after reading other reviews. We were not disappointed, Buddy and his employees were very friendly to us. Buddy went out of his way to make a Tom & Jerry for my sister. She really appreciated the special attention given. We ordered ribs (Buddy's favorite) and the other couple ordered steaks. The meat fell off of the bones and the steaks were just as tender. We will make Buddy's our stop whenever we are in the Dubuque area.
The wife and I just took our 11 and 12 year old boys here after playing at the Grand Harbor Resort. We chose this place because of the many great reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. I'm glad we did! The prime rib was delicious. The soup and salad bar was small, but fresh and clean. There were trains running around on a ledge about a foot from the ceiling. They loaded some candy on one of the cars and launched it to our boys after they finished their dinner. They were also given cups of ice cream. Overall we would return for sure. Oh yeah..There are many homemade items including the honey mustard sauce which was delicious! The interior is pretty small, but quaint and hospitable! It is in an older neighborhood that being from the Chicago area made me nervous, but it seemed to be the opposite of that. Older neighborhood, but super friendly people.

The Hancock House Bed & Breakfast

1105 Grove Ter
Dubuque, 52001
Reviews:
Amazing place. Beautiful view and great location. Spent just one night there but it was an amazing one night. The owners made me feel right at home. Susan makes these incredible cookies. There is a little sitting room in the front of the house that has a little telescope looking into town. BEAUTIFUL HOME! Very clean place....
Probably the nicest B&B we've ever stayed at, and very reasonably priced. It's a large Victorian mansion that has been beautifully restored. Owners Susan and Chuck have been there several years, so they know a lot of local history as well as current goings-on. They were friendly and seemed to be attentive to all of the guests. Dubuque is great too, lots to see and do.
Charles and Susan are wonderful hosts. You feel so welcome just talking with them on the phone making reservations. And then when you arrive. We really enjoyed our stay. The views of Dubuque from our room were great. The breakfasts were A+ and the conversation around the big breakfast table was great. We got to hear a lot of stories and and tips about Iowa. A better bed would have jumped this to a five. Regardless, I'd happily recommend Hancock House and would happily return. Thanks!
